so I cracked open the Smyth , and so far just painted white over the socks and jersey, now he looks like he's at practice :D I figure I'll do a rudimentary priming on the pants and gloves and then paint them red tomorrow.. I'm not sure how thick the paint is, but I figure if I paint red over blue, I might get a purple, so I'll try the priming by painting white on them first, letting them fully dry and then red..

with acrylic paint, can I still boil the fig, and the paint will stay on?

you need to pull the figure apart before you paint because the paint will come off in the water in most cases

I was all set up on Saturday (or was it Friday) when I set out my paints and newspaper to start it off, and my youngest boy grabbed the red, which was brand new and still had the plastic on the cap, and somehow he twisted the cap right off and dumped 3/4 of the bottle on a sheet of paper and the table! :mad: I got a little bit back into the bottle, but most of it I had to wipe up and throw away :( luckily it didn't stain the table..

oh, funny thing as well, I put my bottles of Apple Barrel paint in a cupboard so the brats can't get to them again, and noticed that there were more bottles in the same cupboard, kinda buried in the back.. out I pulled a green, a bright yellow (I got a plain yellow, it looked like the better match) and a blue and and orange, so hopefully, those two will work for the Oilers fig I'm going to make, when those figures I bought come in, the loose 2pack Mess and regular Gretzky 1 (that'll just be a head removal and number repaint)

I'm going to need some decals pretty soon.. TVP was going to order some paper.. I hope my printer can print them well enough, without bloody lines in there. I'm going to get a sheet of logos and the name and numbers ready tomorrow, decal paper or no..

i use testors decal paper. it's pretty small, and lately it's been expensive. testors does put out an ink sealant so that the ink stays on the paper. i let that sit for usually a day or a day and a half at the very least before i cut up and apply the decals. i also have started using micro set and micro sol or the decal apps because the stuff testors puts out was crap. i'd order decal paper, but then i'd feel like i needed to wait and print off a ton of decals all at once.

and make sure that your printer can handle it. mine can;t handle large images, and the other printer we have here at the house can't print off from the program i use to make the logos and nameplates

did the red stripes on the custom today and compared it to the Francis chase, the arm stripes seem to be too high up on the sleeve, and the stripe on the socks are a bit too thin, and might be a bit too light compared to Francis.. I'm hoping they look a bit darker when the black is on

we use these floor guys to refinish all of the floors in the apartments. they were supposed to come over today and do 2 rooms, but their van broke down. so i had to drive out there and we tried to charge their battery, but it didn't work. so then we packed up my car and drove over to where they were supposed to work. and then when we were unpacking all the tools, a 5 gallon bucket (only had about 2 or 3 gallons) of polyurethane spilled all over the back of my jeep! luckily, the floor guys are getting me a free replacement for the mess

so my idea of going down to the pepsi center was ruined today. when i got down there, i found out there was no free parking because they've rented out their parking lots to the six flags right next door for overflow parking

i went to tru afterwards and was very happy about what i found. they put out the new transformers line called cybertron recently. i thought last night that target was gonna have it too because i saw a ton of huge hasbro boxes, but couldn't tell what was in them. so at tru, i bought the new scourge and vector prime. i was gonna get optimus, but i didn't want to spend that much money. and the supreme starscream that they made is just too big and too expensive. i still want it, but it's $50!

i also picked up the new toyfare magazine at borders next door to tru. then i headed to walmart and they had cybertron, and they actually were kinda up-to-day with their sps

i think they make them so expensive because they make them so big! the smallest figures in the new line are $6.99, which is pretty consistent with past transformers prices in the post-beast wars era. the rest of the prices are pretty close to what they used to be. and this starscream is close to the size of unicron and omega supreme, so that's why he's so expensive

i still wanna go back and pick up crumplezone, jetfire, and optimus. i might pick up some of the smaller guys, but i'm not sure yet. i'm not gonna get megatron cause i think the color scheme for the galvatron repaint later in the line is much better looking
