I know what you're saying, but now I just started to go eat by myself. Half the time I bump into someone I know there and eat with them. If not, I grab a newspaper. I've stopped caring about being that guy who eats by himself. Many others (especially on weekends) do it and I don't think it really is that big of a deal to most. I mean I would like to eat with someone, but if it is between not going to the dining hall or going by myself, I have no problem going by myself. Oatmeal rules by the way, as well.

i used to always eat by myself cause there was no one in the dorm that i was friends with. i'd eat by myself on the weekend nights, but the place is really crowded at 5pm since there are only 2 dorm cafeterias open during the weekends and it's better to go with people so that you're not just taking up unused space

there was one day where i was there after a football game and was sitting down at a table right next to a bunch of drunk guys. i was by myself to start cause my friends were still getting food, and one of the guys put his tray right in front of me. i put it down on the floor without saying anything. when we got up to leave, the guy was pissed that i put it on the floor. since they were drunk, i blew them off as much as i could and just walked out. i really wanted to just whack him in the face with my tray

Hell yeah man...........as for the drunk guy..........good idea not starting a fight. It's not really worth it, as tempting as it is. Well at least not over something like that. I do the same when Im walking down a path as far over as I can, and someone bumps into me (sometimes on purpose, or whatever) and they go watch out kid or something. I just keep walking. I mean, Im not walking in the mud cuz you want to walk with your friends taking up the whole sidewalk. Im big (wide) enough where I will bump into a person and know Im not gonna fall over or something. Some people can be ignorant or rude and I will not take all of it.
