Went to the West End last night for the Smallman Records show with Choke, The Reason, and Ghosts of Modern Man. Awesome show! I've seen Choke several times. They are the tightest band in Canada. The Reason did not let me down, they were really nice guys and were very happy to get some support in Winnipeg. I bought a hoodie and finally got their first EP too. GOMM were pretty good too, but I really did not know any of their songs. Smallman Records is one of the best Indie labels in Canada!

I'm heading back to the WECC tonight for Death From Above 1979...should be cool.

Oh yeah, and I think I want a chase set of Legends 2....

I sure love seeing live music. Most of the kids there were like 10 years younger than me and in a few years they will grow out of the scene and get jobs, lives, wives, and forget about the music. Has any one seen the new Fantastic Four box set around the city. It's the one with trench coat Thing and no Dr. Doom?

My guess is you won't see it in Canada, other than at Outer Perimeter or Galaxy. TRU shot their load on the Urban Legends box and it had to be cleared out. Buffoons:rolleyes: Worse, all the retailers likely went overboard with the FF movie stuff that'll be coming out. I don't think most people/computers that order toys can tell the difference between a movie toy or a comic based toy.

No, no case, my order is all screwed up. Yippee. I have a credit with the store I ordered from, but can't get it applied to my order at the moment. It may end up being a case of X instead of IX. The chase don't appeal to me from this series at all (not that I wouldn't buy them if I saw them - and open them too) so that doesn't bother me. But I need to get all the parts for Galactus, so I'm not buying anything until I've found the single packed figures - Deathlok, Prof X and whatsisname, the sorceror dude. Then I'll buy the other guys.

Black spidey has been released twice already in the Spiderman Classics line - the first series and then a very recent series on the cardboard cards. He's still around the city. Second version is better due to better articulation/sculpt. Guess they thought there wouldn't be much interest in a readily available figure. From the pics of spidey it doesn't look like a first appearance to me, maybe a first McFarlane appearance but not an old Stan Lee Spidey. No big.

Legendsactionfigures.com is where I was ordering my case from. How much does Jay (Mandalay) charge? It wasn't so much a big screw up on Legends part, just that I have a store credit that wasn't properly transferred to my account. I could have ordered and then had the credit processed as a refund. I think I'll just try my luck on the series 9 stuff and get a series 10 case instead.

Um, I wouldn't be panicking about anything ROTS related in a movie year. Tater may be cool (presumably you guys have seen the stormtrooper potato as well) but he will be readily abundant soon enough. Any idea of the Canadian retail on him?

I don't know if the Tater will make it to my house. It's funny, but I already have way too much crap.

The Sinister Six box set is great. The spidey figure in it not so much, but all those villains at once is fantastic and the Goblin is much better than the early release. Electro is cool too. I skipped a few of the others previously as well, so it worked out for me. But I really hate when ToyBiz releases box sets down the road. I understand why, but it's really restricted my hurry to buy stuff. I'd rather risk paying more down the road for something I missed, just because they always release the same figures again and again, with only one new figure mixed in. The new box set is a prime example. I don't need another Carnage or Rhino, just the vulture. But buying just the Vulture on ebay will be darn near as much money as buying the whole set:mad:

Well, next season's roster will probably look dramatically different but of the guys who will most likely be back there's Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, Damon Stoudamire, and Zach Randolph (though I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to trade him).

Personally I just want some photos with Chris Bosh, Rafer Alston, Morris Peterson, and Jalen Rose (if he's still with the team, which is highly doubtful at this point).

Uh, Venom and Carnage have both been released in the Spiderman classics line. Venom three times actually - Original plastic case series, Sinister six box set and then on a cardboard card with blister - all different, though two are quite similar. Carnage was released around series 7 or 8-ish and will be slightly altered for the next box set. Or am I missing the symbiote you're talking about?

Walmart, uh, how do I say this, sucks. Not trying to be mean, really. I do understand that with summer coming, "indoor" toys tend to not sell as well, but somewhere along the line either the person making decisions or the computer that does it for them lost their way. They/it is paying no attention at all to the action figure section. It still warrants a full side of one aisle for the most part, but most of it is utter crap that really moves no better than anything else. Worse, when new stuff - McFarlane, Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel Legends - comes in, it moves like crazy. The Yu-gi-oh, Power Rangers, etc. just clog up the pegs. They stopped caring, or so it would seem and that is a Canadian philosophy moreso than the American Walmart philosophy [/rant]:rolleyes:

As for Marvel Legends and Walmart specifically, they've been really, really hit and miss all along. They were really good with Series 1 back around Christmas of 2002 or so (though oddly I'd already picked up an Ironman and Captain America for $5 clearance price three months prior to restocking:confused: ) and had lots of stock in - I found four gold Ironman figures at that time:eek: But then they went into the summer lull and didn't pick up the line again until Series IV (Beast, Elektra, Gambit, etc.) which they carried ad nauseum until this past winter when they picked up Series VI. Now they seem stuck on it and I've no idea what will be the next series. I'd guess they will jump up to around 9 or something, at some point next fall??? It's really quite annoying because only TRU has shown signs of having Series 9 and I missed by only a little (curse you BSJ;) ). I want to build Galactus so I need to pick up the entire series, but I refuse to pick up parts that are common without finding the single packed figures first. GAh.

FWIW, This is an interesting, though highly speculative read (http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=9198&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25).

I can confirm some of the points in it, though not the really damning stuff. I've seen full cases with only Punisher (2 versions) and brown Wolverine:( so that may lend some credence, though it may just be overstock pulled from elsewhere and Walmart isn't bright enough or paying enough attention to say no thank you.

I've found chase figures before - Gold Ironman, Doombot and then the three from the Series VI case - red Phoenix (who I'll trade for a phasing ghost rider only), brown Cable and no mask Wolverine. I've not seen a phasing Vision or phasing GR, nor have I heard of anyone finding them locally (zoomer got his other ways, I believe). But the Series 3 no mask Wolverine, Series 4 Goliath and Series 5 Red Skull were notoriously hard to find, though more common with increasing series' I honestly don't need to find all the chase all the time, but I sure do enjoy it. I also open mine which is fairly blasphemous, I'd suppose. I do have a Doombot, no mask Wolverine for trade if anyone's interested. Mostly just looking for other marvel legends chase in return, or the less common ROTS clones (AT-TE gunner, clone commander, clone pilot).

With due apologies to the sports guys. I'd like a Fuhr and a Esposito chase down the road. My guess is since I'll be out of town from Wednesday to Sunday of next week, that's when they should show in quantity:rolleyes:

I don't think it's hard to find.

If it's at Grant Park High school and you're coming from Portage La Prairie, take Portage Ave to Kenaston (route 90), then turn south (right).
--Go south on Kenaston for a ways (watch for the photo radar) until you get to Grant Ave, then turn east (left).
--Drive down Grant and pass the bend in the road -- which has the Pan Am Pool on the right.
--Right after the Pan Am Pool is Grant Park High School.

Once again, those are the directions IF it's at Grant Park High School.
