had a bit of an interview with a fellow from MTS for a job when i graduate... apparently he liked me.

and my world junior story -

went to the practice at the highlander on sunday - we were there about 9ish, and we saw on the board that team finland was skating too! anyway, watched them for awhile, talked to the only english speaking player (well he said hey to us, and we half had a conversation) and i got a picture with him on the way out - #19 on the team, plays for Moose Jaw ... Mika Mirosova or somethin...

i printed off a picture i took of the team canada bench at the bison exhibition game - far enough away that you really can't tell who was cut and who wasn't - and i made it panoramic on a 8x10 and had two inches of white on the top and bottom for a boarder... caught all the team as they were heading out onto the ice... i only missed two players. but i got my crosby, barker, dawes, seabrook, sutter, both goalies, everyone except for two guys i hadn't really heard about (i could look them up again). if my scanner worked i'd put it up for you guys - but i was pretty happy with it.

and uh yeah, heading to Can/Suisse tomorrow and i'm stoked for that.

oh - and it was very weird knowing that all the players were younger then me (for the first time ever)... most of them look older then i am, it's a trip. and the finland team was HELLA tall. looking forward to the games - considering buying one of the new jerseys (white), mine is back from the nagano/99worldjuniors era...

Espin - are we still on for a dark Hejduk? :) we can do a trade if you want to wait for NHL 10..

On a brigter note, I got 2 X-Mas present today. One was a poker set, bought from Wal-Mart probly but it doesn't matter it's still cool. Then my buddy and his wife bought me an mp3 player. Pretty sweet of them to do and it's awesome.

heyo guys.

well i got to go to the game... anyone watching on tsn - we were directly behind the suisse penalty box - i was the white jerseyed guy sitting beside the two red painted arses... needless to say, i came home with my brand new jersey sporting an awful lot of red body paint on the sleeve of it.. lol oh well, they were fun... up until about 10 minutes left in the game when ALL they wanted to do was be on the jumbotron, it got hard to watch at that point.

great game. the only thing i wasn't sure what to make of was Crosby's hotdogging towards the end of the game. clearly he's an amazing player (evident by the ovation he got for his little move about 10 seconds after one of canadas goals - he got a louder cheer then the actual goal) but, i'm thinking he's going to get his arse clocked one of these days. and apparently the large black suisse player decked him one (thank goodness for the faceshield).

do you think it was okay because the game was out of reach? i'm thinking i would have yelled at him a bit for it...

tim - yeah, bout what i figured. sutter sounds like a team kinda guy - and crosby was doing a bit of a show (would've been better if he'd actually put one in).

i was a bit disappointed in the third period - we might have lost our focus a bit, but not scoring on a 5 on 3.. that shouldn't happen.

Do any of you guys know much about computers? I got that mp3 player last night, put some songs on it and played around with it, then when I wanted to add some new ones my USB ports weren't working. Under Device Manager it looks like I don't have drivers installed for my USB Ports. Tried my XP disc, my drivers disc that came with the comp and I can't seem to get them running. Anyone have any ideas?

Saw is an awesome movie that is coming to dvd soon - i have a xvid copy of the retail dvd. low budget horror/thriller from new zealand (i think). one of the movies like 'shaun of the dead', where if you haven't heard about it yet, you will soon....Saw has a whiplash twist of an ending the will knock you of your chair (like se7en in that way - also in terms of subject matter)

btw shaun of the dead is *** hilarious - think i've seen it about 8 - 10 times!

hey guys - had a nice package waiting for me when i got home today... a heritage two pack and a rangers leetch courtesy of McToys!

both look pretty nice - some minor paint blemishes (TMP's paint quality is consistently slipping) and my smith looks like his arm is dislocated since the joint isn't turned all the way (the jersey numbers don't line up). either way, they are on the way, still not sure who's carrying them. i might try to exchange mine for one with an arm in place...

tim - you didn't have any luck at the highlander? did you go right down to the ice?

on the crosby topic again - it might be that i'm just not used to seeing a player that talented. and he does make a lot of passes too... just that you see a guy spinning around and around in the corner... and you kinda only see that. at least for me anyway - oh well, maybe i'll get used to him :)

will never, ever pay 200-300 for a one piece stick (*** crooks). lol somebody told me the real reason easton stopped making their aluminum sticks (10 years ago? have one i bought 15 years ago...) was because they're *** unbreakable (hard to keep selling them after a while, like lightbulbs that last forever)

I've got one of those old Aluminums. An Easton Gold to be exact. I believe Brett Hull used to use them when he was still a Blue. Bought it in 1995, and the thing is still going strong. Of course, it helps that 1) I often play goal and don't get to use the stick, and 2) I switched to using a wood stick back in 2000 whenever I actually played out.

I have a 1pc stick that only cost me $70. Nice stick. If you hold an aluminum in one hand and a 1pc in the other hand, you start to come to the realization, very quickly I might add, as to why the 1pc has quickly taken over.

edit - technically, an aluminum stick probably only lasted a game or 2 for a pro. Once they have a dent in them they're no good to them any more. Obviously we of fewer $ wouldn't toss one with a dent, but in the 'bigs' it's not a problem.

Yeah, the good news for us little guys is that certain manufacturers are starting to produce more affordable one-piece sticks. I've been eyeing the new Vic Velocity stick for awhile. Cheaper than the Vector or Synergy. Too bad I can't justify purchasing it right now.

well from my experience, with the only aluminum i ever have - easton pro balance extra stiff hxp 5100 (currently with a easton graphite 'zhamnov' blade i was using for ball hockey) is that i hammered the hell out of it, crashed into boards and nets/bars/posts/helmets/etc with it, and sorry, no dents. and to ME, there's no perceptible loss of stiffness/accuracy/anything with it at all (maybe because it's the ONLY one i've ever had). trust me i've broken one hell of a lot of woodies in my time ('sherwood' anyone?)

i did once see an easton aluminum get damaged first hand - heritage community club (the 'old' one behind safeway on ness) when i was about 14 (and before i bought mine) it was silver (mines gold) and was an earlier generation model than mine. i believe the silver were 'stiff' as opposed to 'extra stiff' (hey, anyone tried viagra? lmao). anyway, it was boxing day (i know that for sure), and minus -40 i'll bet (this was before they measured windchill in any way that made sense lol). the guy had just got the stick and it was cut a little long. he was a good player (wish i could remember who he was, he played for heritage victoria and would be around 31 now....) and when he tried a really hard shot, and *missed*, the blade cracked one of the angled corners of the bottom of the aluminum shaft. my stick has more of a 'rounded edge' (unlike the earlier 'squarer' ones, but not like some of the stupid 'oval' ***** sticks today *groan*)

but enough about my damned aluminum, the ONLY thing GREAT about the new one-pieces is there incredible lightness. and for that *** price i'd take my ccm vector fibreglass anyday.

imo, there only for pros, or people (with $$$) who already have all the plastic toys they need!!! ;)

My bro picked up the Vic. Very nice stick. I've got a Hespeller myself. I got it one day at Sport Chek for half price. I figured I'd give one a try. I only use it for sponge hockey so I sure as **** wouldn't ever consider buying a $200 stick.
