Got an email yesterday about an online shop that could get more legends 2 chase figures. He was giving his customers first crack at it. UNFORTUNATELY.....I was in emergency yesterday with my son for 9 HOURS (yes, 3pm to 12 midnight) just to get a laceration in his hand fixed up.

Hey Gary, my son's doing ok. They used a special glue and sani-strips to glue the cut together. He won't be playing video games or doing any physical activities for a week.

I went to Grace. They were unusually backed up. The bad part is that we weren't the only ones waiting for at least 9 hours. My son recognized a little girl with similar lacerations who came in with her dad an hour after us. They had JUST GOTTEN into an emergency room as a doctor was tending to my son. That means they'd been waiting 8 hours in the waiting room alone!

What's more, I park for free, so I felt really awful for some of those people in there who were probably racking up parking fees.

Yup, something needs to be done about health care. And I know about the three emergency priorities - breathing, bleeding, and unconsciousness -- and how they take priority over other problems in an emergency room.

It's funny because the only way we got to see a doctor faster was when, at 12 midnight, my son and I walked over to the nurses' station for the second time and said, "Can you please cut off his admitting bracelet? We've been here since 3:00, and we're just going to go home, clean it, and let it heal. We also need to get something to eat. We haven't had any supper yet. Just give our room to someone else who needs it."

We'd done that earlier (11pm), but they said, "Just wait a bit. We need to examine his cut. And you're next anyway." But it's funny how once our minds were set on leaving, they were right in there. And then when the doctor looked at our chart and knew me, we got treated really well.

It's called health insurance and anyone with half a brain in the middle class down there has it. If you've got a quasi-decent income down there (or better yet, company sponsored health care) you're far better off than up here. Now, if you're poor for any reason at all, you're not quite so well off and that's about the only remaining saving grace for Canadian health care, free access to crappy waits for all. Don't believe everything the federal liberals tell you. I've watched people here die due to bluntly $*****ty health care practices and believe me, they don't tell you all you need to know:mad: Don't even get me started on the "free" aspect of it. It's only free when you're not working and taking in a paycheque:p

Small story: my wife tore her ACL playing volleyball. She waited 7 months for an MRI and 13 months for the surgery. A friend down in Seattle made a few calls and for the cost of $6000 US, we both could have flown down there and had the surgery within 3 days, all costs including flight included. Naturally that's a chunk of change, but any halfway decent health insurance would have covered the costs down there. Now tell me again how 13 months is better than 3 days?

Not that I'm a huge fan of the Conservatives, but I can't believe people listen to the official Liberal party line about public health care when all of those jackasses have accounts at private clinics in Quebec. Hypocrites, one and all.

Not that we aren't all at times, but geez, why do people believe these guys? I can think of lots of reasons to not vote Conservative, but honestly, they're not going to turn this into the US health care system. The best system is somewhere in between the two, but it's such a hot button issue it can decide elections, so no one ever looks elsewhere at other combination systems. I don't really see a big problem in letting private health care exist. If people can afford to pay for either insurance or directly for quicker health care, let them. It'll reduce the burden on the public system. The argument about all the good doctors will go to private systems drives me nuts too. If there are really that many bad doctors in our system, don't we already have a huge problem and why are we subjecting people to treatment by those quacks?:confused:

Misrecordia(sp) is horrible for waits. Personally I would never wish to be in any situaltion where I needed surgery or anything. Personally I dont have a problem with private heathcare. If you have the money , why not pay for it. Why get penalized just because I have the ability to pay for the service. I see it as a win win situation for patients personally. I get the treatment I need quickly. Others that are unable to pay for quick services should in theory get through faster because they dont have as many people waiting to see the doctor. I think that is perfectly fair.

As far as the Liberal/Conservative debate. Any government that stays in power too long will eventually crumble. THat's just the nature of politics. Longer people are in power, the more likely corruption will occur. I've pretty much been a Liberal supporter since the mid 90's. Honestly the only other party I can consider voting for is the Conservatives. I'm just not a fan of Harper enough to want him to lead the country. As far as I am concerned, there's no party that has really shown me that they are capable of doing any better leading this country. But that's just one person's opinion. Others I am sure can argue the reverse.

I still need to get the Trilogy on DVD, only have it on tape. I liked both Ep 1 and 2, they obviously weren't as good as the originals but they were good for what they were. I've seen the originals so many times that the new ones can't touch them but I still liked them.

It's a six cylinder hybrid. That's like saying I recycle a little bit:p Same thing with the Accord - just as many horsepower as our regular V-6 but better gas mileage (which ironically is the same mileage as the four cylinder). I drive a ton and would have bought a four cylinder Accord hybrid but a six cylinder hybrid is just plain stupid. It's about piece of mind, not reducing consumption. And no, I won't by the Civic hybrid, the ride is crap compared to the Accord (that's my version of hypocracy). The Insight is just a death trap waiting to happen.

If you have the first three on VHS, you might be better off. The quality of the DVDs is fabulous, but they were altered. There are scenes on the DVDs that aren't in the originals. There are also "touch ups" and CGI characters that stick out like a sore thumb amidst the original special effects from the 70s and 80s. Anyone who saw the original Return of the Jedi and the final scene with Anakin, Obi Wan, and Yoda in holographic images will be disappointed by the "new Anakin" standing there.

I have all the THX enhanced editions of the original Trilogy on LD. You pretty much don't get any better than that as far as quality goes. Images aren't as crisp as the revamped DVD trilogy of course but it doesn't have a lot of the hoo ha of the special editions like Greedo shooting first.
