I had the same pairing, it sucks that it was purged. I'm working nights today through the weeked, I thought maybe when I was off in the morning we could meet up on my way home but your start is a bit too late, I'll never make it (too tired). I just read that games are on tonight at Maple Grove. My team (Replacements) plays after you guys.

We played the Goodfellas last week. Here is a scounting report:

Their QB (skinny with dark hair) doesn't have a great arm but he runs well and will scramble. There is a shorter guy that lines up in the backfield that they occasionally will pitch the ball to. He has the option to throw or run. He has a much better arm than the QB does. Their top receiver is a bigger guy, probably about 6'2". He is not the fat guy but he is a bit stocky. He wore #4 last game. I think he was the primary receiving option about 50% of the time.

Here is an area that you may be able to exploit: On changes in possession, they are slow getting their d lined up on the far side of the field. If you guys get lined up quickly. you can get some cheap yards with a quick pass to the far side.

firstly, i'll apologize for 'arguing' with you. that's not me and i don't like doing that.

however, every time i see you now, your first words are always "so, causing trouble?", or "so, pull any stunts lately?" or , my favorite, "somebody oughtta give you a good backhand"

funny that when we first met, while i was looking at sportspicks in London Drugs back in december, you were all smiles, asking me what i was looking for. - fishing for information i guess, although i was unaware of that at the time.

and the one, single incident (stunt) you keep referring to - you've got it all wrong buddy. go to TRU on regent, and ask Shawna. i spoke to her on the phone that morning, she said NBA 8 was in - i drove over. i talked to her at the front of the store and she directed me towards the back, "there just coming out - go check at the back". i started towards the back, and ran into 'you'. your EXACT words were "what are you looking for?", and i said "just browsing". then you said "NBA is supposed to be in - Ernie wants them."

THAT'S RIGHT! - you were there to pick up chase figures for Ernie (eBay id = bgnew), and yet you insist you aren't a scalper.

back to my story though. when i got to the back, the case was sitting on a cart in the doorway. i brought it up to the front, said "i found them i think".

shawna, who by the way was Excellent, called the back to check with them. then another lady employee came storming up to the front. it seemed she could hardly speak. obviously she was very upset, and was unaware that Shawna had essentially directed me to the case. the 'angry' lady said something to the effect of "THERE ARE OTHER COLLECTORS WANTING THESE AND THIS IS OUR ONLY CASE!!" so i think i said "well you should have got more, and i'm sorry, but i didn't do anything wrong". she tried to wrestle the case away from the checkout, but Shawna said "forget it, i'll open it, and you can put out the rest after him (me)".

and that's it. you bring it up every time i see you and tell me how mad they are at me over at TRU. and by the way, the 'angry' lady FOLLOWS me around the store when i go in there now - gee i wonder why?

it seems YOU are really mad that you missed getting an NBA chase figure for Ernie. you must really like Ernie. but why is what i did ONE TIME so wrong, when it's okay for Ernie to hassle stores into selling HIM cases, so that he can try to get first crack at EVERY SINGLE retail chase figure in town? to list on Ebay? why is that okay - is it because you think 'we' don't know?

I had a half decent rant typed out as to why some people feel the need to cherry pick the whole entire city with their cult of jobless fools just to make a FEW bucks off their sales on ebay, all the while pissing off a bunch of collectors. But it ain't worth it, Old Man isn't going to stop doing what he is doing. He's just making everyone look bad and one day it will come back to bite all of us in the ***. Part of the reason I stopped collecting as hardcore as I did was due to this crap. It takes a certain amount of faith to send a figure or money to someone across the continent in a trade or purchase, not know if you are going to get a mint figure in return. The people on my good trader list were people that I had successful trades with through the mail. I think that is how the vast majority of the trades on the boards happen so that is why I didn't have the locals on my list. Does that make sense?

Makes perfect sense Brad. I included guys because at one time, there wasn't much of a limit on the number of characters in a signature, but now there is. The only suggestion I might make to the contrary is that a signature with good traders is often looked at by many as well out of Winnipeg. If folks see someone like CTO Inc in lots of signatures, they may be more willing to trade with him. But your point about the difference is absolutely valid.

For me, I've made relatively few trades outside the Winnipeg area since the formation of this thread, so that's been a real treat.

Yeah that no diving rule hit us twice. we drew so many penalties due to the snapper not moving out of the line fast enough. we had lik 7 penalties on that alone. Still I mean we would have been running up the score another 2 touchdowns otherwise. Pad the stats and our morale a bit either way. We shifted from 2nd last to 3rd place.

I was just razzin' ya. I figured out a long time ago that you had no local collectors in your list, even though I knew you'd been around. Traders like me, on the other hand, need all the user id names we can get on our list just so people will trade with us.

We had a couple of drives but nothing major aside from my big play. To clarify, the guy made a diving tag to down me at the 2. I did not dive for the end zone. There was no flag so diving must be allowed on D. On the ensuing series we had a TD called back to an obstruction call.

I am not sure what they were doing defensively on the strong side because I was lined up on the weak side. On the weak side, they were playing way off the line because it was basically 2 on 2 out there. They had their right-middle linebacker (is that the right description?) lined up pretty much overtop of our centre. There were a lot of easy yards to be had on the weak side. That #23 didn't really do anything special. He is not that fast. Our QB just seems to like throwing up passes that the safeties can make plays on.

On 'O' the other team did go downfield a lot but they started throwing short more in the 2nd half. Their centre caught several balls in the 2nd half. It's pretty tought to defend against the centre without leaving big holes somewhere else.

I see that you guys play the Maniax after our game on Sunday. I think they are definitely beatable.

I'm afraid that I wouldn't be of much help to anyone here, as I am a non-sports collector, although I would kill for a Grant Fuhr fig with a cage mask, or a Billy Ranford fig from his Edmonton Oilers days. For what it's worth I get most of my stuff from The Outer Perimeter and Galaxy Comics and Collectibles, both of which carry a pretty good selection of Sports Picks.

Welcome to the thread. The more collectors we can get on here, the better we can synchronize our chasing efforts, and the better we can shut out "profiteers" who seek to thwart our collecting efforts.
