i stopped watching the oilers game... apparently i missed all the action 5-1 late in the 3rd. torres has been a good pick up for me (goOilersgo - why'dja drop him?). now if only dvorak would get in there.

It was a tough drop, but I did drop him for Ales Kotalik who plays on the top line w/ Daniel Briere...nice to see the oil back on track though!

I get Erik Cole and Sergei Zubov and you get Peter Schaefer (did line up w/heatley) and Ric Jackman (Gonchar's PP buddy;) , I think)

it's weird how some teams are struggling early on...

i wonder if the sharks are gonna start getting up there anytime soon, i'm not getting much out of mclaren and stuart. i thought that would be a decent lineup, and i'm a little anxious to pick up too many 4th string dmen, even if they are getting a few points.

i hope to see dvorak turn it up a bit more. i might've made a bad pickup there.

bammer - yeah he's on the shelf right now. i kinda mucked up the paint job a bit, but it doesn't look *terrible* per se. i've been using most of my free time to exercise lately, and working later in the day has eaten up about 2-3 hours extra of my day i figure. so not really a priority :)

and soon outdoor skating will take the priority. lol. not looking promising.

got tyutin - should be a nice pick up, the dman on jagrs line? rangers are doin' ok too. time to close the 15 point gap on first place, number 2 ranked player overall in spezza, and the second ranked defenceman in chara. go sens go!

I called fathead.com and they told me that shipping is a flat $20 to Canada. It is the same price as shipping to the US and the use USPS so we won't get pumped on brokerage fees.

Seems like a few guys want them so we might as well get them shipped here.

i was just thinking about when i was in gr.5 or 6, and the jets were leaving town - a bunch of us on the playground would stand at the corner where the cars went by with signs and chant 'save our jets' for the entire lunch hour.

and then i remember the teachers pulling us inside and saying it was great that we felt that way but that it reflected on the school and they weren't supposed to have an opinion on it or something (the proper way to phrase that escapes me).

why the heck would the school care.

and on a side note - no kid in gr. 6 can actually understand why a team would be moving. it was just the in thing to do. i went to like 4 jets games ever. i have no idea why i cared back then...

No official time for the Arena Seat Sale. I haven't been able to find out what time they will be selling them. The last I heard is it was on Nov. 5th at the arena's loading docks.

The last available souvenirs of the Winnipeg Arena's past -- several hundred seats -- will be available for sale a week from today as demolition crews prepare to turn the barn into dust.

The brief offer -- likely to run only on Nov. 5, though another date is possible -- will see the wooden chairs handed to customers for $5 apiece at the Maroons Road building's east side parking lot.

The sale will allow Rakowski Cartage & Wrecking Ltd. to clear out many of the grandstand seats remaining while giving Winnipeggers a final piece of NHL, WHA and concert nostalgia.

DON'T EXPECT A LOT

Still, says company manager Bob Molter, buyers shouldn't expect a lot.

"These seats aren't wonderful by any means. There are no legs to them or anything. They're not spectacular. So I don't know what people are expecting," Molter told The Sun.

"And there's no frame to them. You've got just a bottom and a back. So you'd have to put them on a bench or something."

Contrary to earlier word from the mothballed complex, the offer includes possibly scores of seats with plastic cushions -- not only the wooden chairs from the days of Hull and Hedberg.

The somewhat shoddy condition of the seats isn't cooling off fan interest, particularly with the demolition firm's plan to toss the sale revenue to CancerCare Manitoba.

"That in itself is a pretty good thing. If it's going to CancerCare, what's even 20 bucks? I don't have a problem with it," said Lonnie Farr, one of many fans eager to snag seats for home use.

"I'll probably just grab a couple for the basement. My brother-in-law, I'm sure, will want some, and a couple of his buddies. Anyone who's a hockey fan basically who we know is going to want them."

Sale times haven't been finalized, though the offer will likely begin in the morning and run for a few hours. Details will be made public this week.

The seats will be sold from the 50-year-old Arena's truck loading dock in the east lot, with vehicle access from the south.

ICE-FISHING SHACKS

Customers will not be limited on the number they take, as long as they can pay for them.

"A lot of guys I've talked to want to use them in ice-fishing shacks. You can bolt them right to the wall, sit down on them and away you go," said Chris Rakowski, who's managing the seat removal.

Farr is among many fans who have besieged The Sun with inquiries after earlier believing that all of the Arena's more than 13,000 seats had been removed.

"I'm more a Gretzky fan than anything, but they don't have Gretzky seats," he added.

"It's memorabilia that's part of our city. If it can be in my basement, that's pretty cool."

and just an example of how cracked up the +/- rating is: spezza assists on two goals, no goals are scored against the sens in a 6-0 victory, and yet he's rates an Even on the night.

what the heck is that all about.

it could be that he made the pass & went to the bench (and was therefore not counted for +/-). it's a fast game nowadays and it could certainly happen.

i can't confirm in this case. call ron maclean :)

I picked them up at Superstore of all places, pretty nice to find them. The Logan is actually much nicer than the regular. Wonderman I prefer the regular figure, but can't pass up the opportunity to have the variant loose and irritating the MOMC crowd. That makes two consecutive series' that I found the variants for with relative ease. Woot!

Nice to win football this week because next week's a huge bye week for me. I'm going to need some serious luck if I'm even going to challenge AstroDave at all. After that though it's all gravy through to the championship game.

Well Vic covered most of it. I don't collect plastic packaging for the most part, unless something looks better displayed in it (eg. Jets Selanne on Jets Card). All of my Marvel Legends are loose including all of the chase figures. They take up a heck of a lot less room that way. And I have all the chase figures except for gold Ironman, phasing Vision:mad: , Mohawk Storm, blonde Black Widow and the Captain America chase from that series.

Very little of the rest of my collection is carded, whether it's sportspicks, star wars, marvel legends or otherwise. Why? Mostly because I consider any sort of collecting to be a money losing proposition. If you have patience you can pick up almost anything down the road cheaper than retail. Once you buy it, unless you treat it like fine China, it will devalue with nicks and dings. Even if you do treat it like gold, it's no different than sports cards or comic books, the majority ain't worth retail in about 5 years. I can't be bothered for most stuff. Most. I'm not an idiot either - I won't be opening my Bruins Bourque.

I don't begrudge anyone being a carded or MOMC type of collector; whatever works for someone is cool by me. I'm just not that guy.

Also I wouldn't call these minty fresh. They weren't really damaged badly but they sure weren't mint. Like the wave with Juggernaut, the Hulk Buster Iron Man is huge and heavy resulting in lots of edge and side damage to the packaging. I'd have been hard pressed to call them near mint if I was selling them. So they were openers, IMO. Had they been mint, I'd have opened them anyway.

I just picked up my McNabb jersey I ordered off eBay for $35. Thinking it was the fake twilled letters and numbers version, it was actually a pro jersey. The quality of it is great, it's about as heavy as a hockey jersey with pro lettering.

He had been clean for 4 years now and I believe he was, but the damage had already been done. Early reports are saying he had a heart attack in the morning and just fell down and died in the bathroom. Really feel for his family and 3 kids. Damn....:(

Vince is such a heartless bastard, that he'll probably cut off the money to Eddie's family as quick as he can.....then he'll fire Chavo and turn Eddie's death into some tasteless angle.

This all started when Eddie had that brutal car accident in WCW. He rushed back and didn't heal properly. That was when he got hooked on the pain killers which probably did enough damage to weaken his heart and shorten his life.

Wrestling is the sport that pays the least respect to it's dead and it always seems to be the good workers that were loved in the locker room that die.

Why can't Hardcore Holly, JBL, or X-pac croak? Terry Funk and Scott Hall are still alive and Eddie and Owen Hart are dead. What the hell?

It's like Keith Richards and Ozzy are still alive, but Kurt Cobain, Shannon Hoon, John Lennon are dead. That's not fair...........at least someone should have shot Yoko Ono by now, or Courtney Love........

Damn I shopped like a mofo. Bought Shoes, a watch, lots of clothes (Super nice clothes too, shirts for $1!!! Billabong Sweater for 50%off!!!), and the DVD Haul - Season 6, 7 & 8 of Friends for $19 each! - Retails here for like $40 each here.

The kicker is this...gas down in the states is $2.12/Gallon - So Roughly 53 cents a litre...even with the conversion it's way better than what we're paying up here. I haven't paid prices like that for gas since 1998. Ridiculous I say. Stupid Fed Govn't taxes are predominantly to blame...geez...

Sucks about Eddie G. That's another huge blow for WWE. He was one of the best in the business.

my background is banking/financial advisory services, including mortgages/loans/investments. also some exerience working in a discount brokerage office.

I want to start taking courses of some kind soon (wherever I end up). I might take the Certified Financial Planner course, but I may be better off taking some accounting, or even some Options courses (such as the canadian options course.....) first. Enough of spinning my wheels at any rate; I had realized last year that this is the longest I've spent in one position (job) ever! its now 5 years and counting (but not for long).

CA's make goood money tho $$ - make no mistake. Lot's of education required. I don't even have a clue what it would cost to get your CA or CGA. Forensic accounting sounds cool, but not many jobs (ought to be more :rolleyes: cough cough ).

or i could look for a job in risk & compliance, i do have some qualifications for that. a girl i know who's in that field is very happy (last time we talked).

i know someone who golfs regularly with the local winner of last weeks Huge lotto jackpot. kinda cool.

You need to find a job where they will pay for your courses. The government will do that. Most bigger companies will too.

You need a university degree to get a CA and then you have to work at a CA firm for 3 years and take a bunch more courses. I would recommend the CGA or CMA route if you want to do it. It takes 5 years to do all the CGA courses if you don't have business courses from university or college.

Forensic accounting sounds cool but it is not. It involves going through accounting records in extreme detail. I would rather shoot myself than do that.

Hey fellas,

I was in Steinbach last night (on purpose) and in Winnipeg today (I live in Ste. Anne) and so far this week I've seen 11 NHL 9 chases. I saw 4 at Steinbach Liquidation World (2 Retro Hulls and 2 Blue Sundins), 4 at Steinbach Hangers (Red Datsyuk, Red Wings Fedorov, Blue Sundin, and 3rd Jersey Sakic) and 3 at the Hangers on the corner of Regent and I guess Panet (3rd Jersey Sakic, Rangers Leetch, and Red Wings Fedorov).

I don't know Winnipeg that well so I didn't bother going to the other Hangers, or Liquidation World in Winnipeg. So, check your Hangers if you're close. You might find something worth picking up.

These are the very first chase pieces I've ever found at retail. A friend of mine was in Hangers before me and picked up Alfredsson chase and Rangers Leetch. They must have had a lot of these things.
