The Clarion is the closest to Polo Park - right across the street. Next closest ones are probably the Canad Inns and the Viscount Gort.

Then there are a whole bunch of hotels that are close to the airport (which is still relatively close to Polo Park), like the Greenwood Inn where your mother-in-law was staying.

I don't think any of these places are cheap, but they're probably "cheaper" at this time of the year than they usually are.

Interesting. My friend was using BitComet. Isn't that pretty much the same thing as BitTorrent?

The email came from MTS. They sent it because they received notification from a company called BayTSP which monitors downloading and uploading of copyrighted material.

although i can truthfully say that i have spent WAY more on cds as a direct result of downloading, then i ever would've otherwise. it has it's benefits. finding new tv shows you'd never heard of, etc. the exposure is definately a bonus.

The Comfort Inn is roughly 1-2 blocks away from the Victoria Inn, and I think it's probably cheaper. The Greenwood Inn is also close by, but I think it's a little more upscale than the Best Western, which is what the Victoria Inn is (or so I believe).

Yeha i dont really flinch when news of that comes out anymore. I mean I would love it if the NHL were back in winnipeg. I'd be all over season tickets like white on rice. But alas i just dont see it happening. Quite likely cuz they've "cried 'wolf'" one too many times over this, it's gotten to be almost routine. But hey if not the Pens I'd be just as happy with Carolina or Atlanta.

personally i'd like to see the feasability study done first - to see how many people would buy boxes, what the ticket prices could be estimated at, number of season ticket holders etc.

and *then* we could talk about buying a team... Pengins go to Kansas i bet (if they move)... or Houston. Quebec or Winnipeg next for Carolina/Florida... maybe even Quebec first - they are actively shopping, but the gov't official that calls the shots isn't interested in a new area...

Boxes are all sold. There's never really been trouble selling the boxes as companies purchase the boxes. If they can sell them all for the Moose, they will prob stay with the owners for the NHL. Average attendance for Moose games are like 7-8000 but I who knows what the prices will do for attendance. I'd estimate sellout crowds at least for the first year but after that is rather uncertain. I mean it's not gunna work if they charge and arm and a leg each game.

Than again I suppose we can look at Edmonton or Calgary's model and see how it's working for them. From what i hear from my friend in Calgary, tickets are stupidly hard to come by

I'm the opposite gratz, I have been using hockey cards as a stopgate to collect when there are no Sportspicks, but as soon as the NHL SPs start rolling out again, I stop collecting cards. I would still like to keep up on my Hemsky cards, but it sure takes a backseat to the figures.

I've been a "Toy" collector for so long, that I'll probably always do it. I still have my 3'3/4" GI Joes and a lot of G1 Transformers. I also kept all my Trigun figures and the odd Movie Maniacs. I also hung onto my Commorative Edition He-Man re-issue figures. I've also got 6 sealed Star Wars Unleased figs. I also have a bunch of ECW Wrestling figures, some of them are signed by Shane Douglas, Lance Storm, Justin credible, etc...

Anyways, It's amazing what I can get into a 1 bedroom condo! Alana is pretty understanding about the NHL in the bedroom, and that's where I keep it. If any Toys started seeping into the living room, she'd kick me in the nuts...

My ultimate goal is to have one Sportspick for every possible jersey combination. Home, Road, and 3rd for every team. That's why sometimes I really want a chase figure and sometimes I could care less. Players like Kariya and Nash kill me because I have no idea when I'll see another CBJ or Pred figure, so I try to get both...

There's something to be said for free tickets (and people who can't go to games so they give their tickets to you). :D

just came to a realization im loving the hobby, and looking at my figures in their plastic prisons is hard to look at. and just looking around the boards for people setups and collections. makes me want to start some type of a setup.

need some opinions:
open them?
- more space
- cost of shelving
- dont care if i get a regular, just want sets
- cheaper to buy loose

keep them in package?
- less space
- only tempted to find variants, harder to find, and pricier

Best way to display is in a lit display case like a glass enclosure or a plexiglass enclosure. Looks nice and if sealed right, shouldn't have too many dust issues. Dust is my biggest concern. I hate dealing with it. Much easier for me to just wipe them off.

My Unleashed figures on the other hand are all loose. I love the way they display loose. Mcfarlanes can stay in the package for now since they display well enough for me in the package

I'm a MOC card collector, so I keep them all sealed. Mostly it's a space issue for me as I live in a one bedroom condo. I have a pegboard that lets me hold 72 figures (54 skaters and 18 goalies) on the wall in my bedroom. I have some loose figures, but they are all in storage bins as I just don't have the room and the fiancee would kick me in the gonads if I let toys creep into the living room.

When I have a house with a "toy room" I'll open my SW Unleased figs and display some open SPs....
