My favorite set in the last couple years was 03-04 UD Ice. Really nice base set and really, really nice jersey and auto cards. I'm a big fan of the see thru thing that the Ice Authentics cards have, and I think a couple other subsets have that too. Plus if you can get lucky enough to pull an Under Glass auto, they are supposed to be really nice, never seen one up close though.

check this out: canada [insert expletive] customs, 14 loose figs, $41 duty/taxes. i mean the guy who opened it must have been on bloody drugs. plus canada customs broke the skate on my nabakov - i mean can you believe it? i know it was them because the fig was in a sealed bag, and the 'broken off' piece was mixed in with the 'repacked' packing materials. at least the piece is there so i can glue it (a little tricky cause of the pad laces, but i don't think anyone will know the difference once i fix it.

but what do i do about 41 dollars for 14 loose figs? 2 of them were 2packs: messier/brodeur & blake/shanny


in other news, the moose game WAS indeed better than the 5-1 loss might indicate. i was in section 117, row 3 - 3 seats away from the grand rapids' bench, and there were 3 or 4 guys from st vital who knew Meech that were sitting directly beside us, cracking me up the whole game. they were getting a little wobbly, and constantly yelling at him " GO MEECHER - IT'S ALL YOU BUDDY!!!!" and cheering the refs bad calls and against the Moose in general. they might have ticked me off, except that they were clearly just having fun and not being too obnoxious

I'm assuming the package was shipped by mail:

If the figs are from an e-bay auction, print it off.
Also, go to 'my ebay' and print off the 'Addresses' section of "My Account'.
This shows your username and your real name that is attached to the
e-bay account. That is proof that it is actually your auction and not one
you just picked because the price was low.
Complete the appeal form that is on the back of the customs
bill, asking them to adjust their valuation to what you paid for
figs per the auction printout.
Senk it in and you should have a your refund in a few weeks.

The only source of information they have to go on is the declared value on the box. Sometimes sellers from the US (that don't have a handle on the customs scenario) declare a high value thinking the box will be better taken care of, without realizing what it will do to your pocket book. Since there was likely no receipt in the box, they had to go with what is on the box. Essentially the seller is costing you money through their ignorance of our system.

As Senk pointed out, print off your auction receipt and send it in with the form and a written explanation. Don't bother wasting your time with the broken skate issue. It's irritating, no doubt, but all they need to do is suggest it happened in transit, not at their hands and your case is lost. No sense implicating them and irritating the person reviewing your claim. This is the government after all, they get touchy about issues like that. Especially without direct proof.

The process is not fast and your GST refund will come separately from the PST refund. And it will likely come weeks after the first cheque arrives. It's not a great system, but if it's an honest and reasonable claim, you'll get the money you deserve. You won't get all your money back, because they will charge you the $5 inspection fee and the PST/GST (= "customs fees") still on the actual auction amount. It's not a great solution, but it's as good as you'll get.

The Wheaties played Calgary, good high tempo game. Lots of fighting. Both goalies were great and the Calgary goalie also got in a bit of a tustle with Monych after a fight. We had box seats for the game... not a big fan of those either at the new rink. Brandon won 2-1

I think just the base. The one from the 3 pack has the sticker base while the other has the NHL1 base.

The Stanley Cup is still available today and all the Moose are signing autos from 12-1pm I think. They announced it during the game last night. I got to see Stanley at 6:30 before the game and I made sure to find a few names. I found Bourque first as well as Orr and Beliveau...it was a sweet feeling. IMO the rink is great for Winnipeg. They did a really nice job. People say we didn't need a rink, I think we needed it big time. Considering our budget and the money involved, they did a excellent job. Sure its no Air Canada center, but this is Winnipeg were talking about. However, the prices for food are sure Air Canada center prices.. Plus what the heck were they on when they built the washrooms??

Yup, the 12" White Roy is very limited.

ps. if there are any apple juice fiends in the house - safeway has sunrype on 4/5.00, that's 3.50 off of 4.... i bought three cases, saved $30... (i drink a half litre a day with my protein shake). greatestdealever.

what flavour of whey do you mix with the apple juice? vanilla i presume, i can't think of another flavour that would taste halfway decent. i use ON chocolate with water (at work) and milk (at home), i've never tried the apple juice though. i heard that vanilla with orange gatorade tastes like an orange creamsicle.

btw Crashz does customs if you're looking to have one done (i should get commish for that plug :D )

I like Optimum Nutrition because it tastes good and has the highest concentration of protien per serving but they only offer whey in chocolate, vanilla, stawberry, chocolate mint, and cookies and cream. i've gotten used to the chocolate and water mix at work but maybe i'll pick up a small tub of that Pro Performance for work. wonder if they sell that at Sunrise Health Food...

I don't have a clue. I got mine in return for a favor I did for someone. I sent a guy (Brew) a red Roy for C&S or in trade for a Jets Selanne. He's a good guy and I've known him for quite a while from the star wars boards (yeah, yeah, I'm a geek) so I wanted to help him out. I got a Jets Selanne before he could find one and he didn't feel like sending me something I already had, so he went out of his way and had the custom done for me. You can PM and ask him, but honestly I don't know and I'm pretty sure I don't want to know. Less than I could sell a red Roy for right now probably but it's worth a lot more than that to me. Well I officially hate U.S. business sellers on eBay. Bid on this Compact Flash GPS card for $46. I win it. well I read the shipping info and it had said $20 USD for shipping add $5 to other locations. Didn't see that there was an International shipping section. So this jerkoff is charging $45 USD to ship this item. a CF card for christs sakes. I can ship a 12" figure to Germany for that much money. yeah I should have read a bit more closely but cripes $45 shipping to Canada? For an item that small. Give me a break. So I'll take the negative feedback if I get it. But I'm not going down without a fight. eBay has to have some sort of rule in place if the seller is gauging people on shipping fees.

Yup, the Vader unleashed is pretty nutty hard to find. I'd buy one for someone, but I just don't see them in stores. As far as Yoda goes, that's a little tough to find too, it was out quite some time ago, so I think you're stuck with ebay zoomer, for now anyway. Not too hot a figure though, so you should get a good deal.

Obviously from the pic, I have all five. Vader's price is not too bad right now, though I got mine for $24.95 when KB.com was clearing them out. Stormtrooper is the most expensive, followed by X-wing pilot and Boba that fluctuate back and forth. Original retail on these things was horrendous, around $85 US I think???? Maybe only $50, but I've seen much higher reports.

Superstore has had wave 8 in, so Doc Ock can sometimes be found there though they jacked up the price to $11.98. Cases arriving in Canada have been better too, with two Doc Ock's per case.

High for cap, not bad in CAD for the other two. I can live without all of those though. ML has been a pain with their chase figures, some have been remarkably rare and others are actually major figures - red Phoenix, Goliath and Red Skull come to mind. Variations, like mohawk Storm or wings Cap:rolleyes: I can pretty easily live without. I've got two doombots as it is.

Ghost Rider I keep thinking of picking up, but I'd much prefer the chase version.

BTW, I ordered a case of series 9 to ensure I'll be able to build Galactus. I'll have spares from my case, but a couple are only one per case so I won't have a spare set, just spares of some. I ordered it from actionfigureexpress.com at $94 USD for the preorder but had it shipped to a bud in the US, shipping to Canada was insane, around $40:eek: Naturally, I'm hoping to luck into a chase case, but if someone's after spares, LMK. I'll do them at cost after all is said and done. It's $12 to ship to US, probably $18 to ship here, the cost of the case and then customs fees, if I get nailed. So 12 figures into $124 is about $10.30 USD plus any customs fees. Right bang on what retail is at Superstore pretty much.

Dave, the doombot isn't for sale. Yet. I'm holding it for trading, until Legends basketball goes by or for a phasing ghost rider. Eventually it likely will.

Vic, the Angel was from a real short series of Marvel X-men that were released last year, I think. They never made it to Canada and a couple were real crappy. I managed to score Angel, but never got the Cyclops figure which was pretty classic x-men style. I'm still hoping to get one, but I think there's a new Cyclops in the Marvel Legends line up, series 10 or 11.
