Then this is the place for you. :)

Let's make this a fun place to have show discussions, recounts of previous shows, and just some good old fashioned fun.

LOL. I'll tell you, as long as I've been listening to the show, and as big a fan of Lil Jimmy Norton as I am, he never ceases to amaze me, as to how many surprising stories he has, and off-the-wall comments as he has. I love the Lil fella. Tussle, tussle.

IHow long have people been listening?
I remember when they were on WNEW, and they were syndicated for the first time in Philly on 94 WYSP, when I heard their show for the first time (just like they say happens all the time) I thought they stunk. But by the end of the 2nd or 3rd day I was totally hooked.
When they got fired for the St. Patrick's thing, that really made radio stink for me, until they made their return. Thank God for O&A & XM Radio.

I loved the CBS radio bit this morning. God I was in tears. Started listening back in December when I got my XM. They were on in any markets near me before. All I had to choose from here was John Boy and Billy, Bob and Tom, and Lex and Terry, ICK!!! I would listen to Bob and Tom, because they at least get good comedians. Now that I have O&A that is all I listen to.

Mine just came in the mail this weekend. I got a little worried when Opie kept saying his brother was "in over his head" but sure enough, he came through. The shirt is REALLY good quality if anyone is considering ordering one.......

I was going to call today too. I wanted to ask them if they knew if that Lil Marky voice (the anti-abortion and anti-domestic abuse things) was Howie Mandel. It really sounded like him from when he does his "Bobby voice."
I'm determined to call in and do one of those Jim Norton plug, sneak attacks. I just have to write down the info sometime on one of his gigs, and try to call in.

I took a picture of the sign out front. When I got home yesterday I sent the picture to Steve. I just got an email back from him. Maybe they will mention the picture on the air today.

E! Entertainment TV Pulls Plug on Stern
NEW YORK - E! Entertainment Television said Wednesday it will stop airing new episodes of "The Howard Stern Show." The last episode will be seen July 8.
The televised version of Stern's radio show has been a staple on E! since 1994, shown weeknights at 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. and then again in the middle of the night. Stern won't immediately disappear. E! said it would be airing reruns of the show — more than 2,000 were filmed over the years — for the foreseeable future.
"As `The Howard Stern Show' evolves into a premium service, it is time for our late-night programming to evolve as well," said Ted Harbert, the network's president.
Stern's popular radio program will move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January. His manager, Don Buchwald, did not immediately return a call for comment on E! Entertainment's decision.

I was thinking about a behind-the-scenes guy too, like Tim Sabian, but then they talked about him during that segment, and made me doubt it would be him.
Don & Mike is HUGE if it's them. They would certainly fall into the "mortal enemies" category" but also could be wrong because they might be too obvious.
Maybe XM is bringing them on board and have asked the b-b-b-boys to try and bury the hatchet. D&M are in DC after all, XM is there too. It kind of makes sense.

I hope they are. If they get canned over something like this, then I have some serious reservations about how good satellite radio will be.
Reason why I think they're covered is that rules where they kept hammering the point home of don't harm the news people.
That was in every ad that you heard, so I think they're covered. I think that they can get away with the point that this was an act of one person, not something they endorsed.

Face it, Howie is phoning it in. He's cashed out. He got the motherload pay off, and is having to do less work. (Good for him). Meanwhile a good portion of his fans are following him blindly and just worshipping the ground he walks on. Well you enjoy, following your 'king." I really do feel bad for most of you. You're getting lied to on a daily basis (by him), he's giving you less of him each week, each month, each year, and now you have to pay for all that.
Wasn't he even complaining recently that he has to censor himself a little too because Sirius doesn't have channel blocking?? (Something XM has had from day 1). That's odd. It sounds just like him on FM. Complaining about censorship.
You ever hear of a little publication called Barron's? It's not really that big a deal. It's just this little newsweekly that is considered the best financial publication going. But ahhh, what do they know. Anyway....the good news is that Howard was on one of their most recent covers. The bad news is it said, "Don't Bet on Howard" on the cover.
Check out this little blurb. And while you're at it, make note of the difference in stock prices too.
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=1531068&ad=true&ad=true
Also you're statement about how everyone only works 9 months/year (if you include weekends).....that's a nice twist on the big picture. Did you get that idea from Howie to include weekends??
Unless you're a teacher, you're working 12 months/year, Mon-Fri. You more than likely have about 3-4 weeks vacation/year. Well your Howie is only working Mon-Thurs and has 10 weeks off. So don't try and twist it and include weekends. If he does that in his explanation to his fans, then you're fools for believing it. That's how he's trying to justify hearing him less. He's giving you less show, and only working about 9 months of the year. The sad part is again.....all his fans. Now you're paying, but you get to hear him less now then when he was free.
Now let's addess Bubba. This is one of the many areas where your king lies to you. Do you know there is audio of Howard going off and calling Bubba the love sponge, nothing more than a Howard wanna be, who's like everyone in radio. They all copy him, and should all just call themselves Howard Stern. He then went on to elaborate and say, "I don't even wanna be in the same industry as a Bubba the love sponge." Fast forward to just a few weeks ago, and he was saying how he's excited to be working with Bubba, and how Bubba's show will be different than his and will be some great radio. Hang on a second here, Hoo Hoo.....which is it?
Is he a copycat hack that you don't want to associate with or is he a great guy with a unique show that you're happy to work with?? I'm confused.
Well I guess that $500 million has clouded your judgement and you forget which it is, don't you.
So you enjoy your sub-par technology (congrats to Sirius for re-inventing the tape recorder with that S50 unit) and Howard 4 days/week, 9 months/year. And that "free music & sports" you referred to. Uhhh hate to break it to ya, but you're paying for it now. Hence that thing they call a "Sub-scrip-tion."
So you enjoy that music (all the same stuff you can hear on regular radio) and you enjoy all those sports. Like NFL (because I'd much rather listen to an NFL game, than watch it). And the NHL (oops, forgot....you'll lose that in a couple months). Well at least you have NBA (it's not like TNT doesn't have enough NBA on TV. Yawn). Well you do have Nascar. (Oops again. My bad. You get that in 2007). Ok, then there's college sports. (Minimal coverage). Ohh, how could I forget...the sport of kings, horse racing. now there's something that gets everyone excited.
Meanwhile us XM subscribers, we'll have to "settle with" enjoy the cutting edge technology (even Sirius people say that XM has it all over them when it comes to technology), Opie & Anthony (better than Howard on his best day, and more honest), we'll enjoy America's Largest playlist as far as music goes. The MLB coverage (as far as sports & radio goes, MLB was the big one to sign. That's a fact within the industry). We have NHL, college (ACC, PAC10 & Big 10), Nascar for this year, IndyCar, and PGA.
And as far as NFL goes.....don't count on NFL always staying with Sirius. NHL just jumped ship and came over to XM, once NFL gets toward the end of their contract, they could change just like they do with network TV. I could see the NFL deciding that it might be better to go with the company that was quoted in Barron's as:
"Given XM's edge in subscribers, automotive partners, technology and customer-acquisition costs, its stock looks like the better buy,"
So enjoy the little doggie company.

Yeah, good job Irish. I can't believe he thinks his weekend argument works; of course working 9 months in the year doesn't count the weekends.
I'm an XM guy, and I'm a big fan of O&A and a bunch of the other stuff that they've got going, but I really hope that Sirius can keep competing with XM. Competition will keep both companies on the ball, keep prices down, and may actually keep regulators out of the way (anti-trust laws, etc).

not looking to start an argument with this...
Sirius has an almost 3 to 1 advantage over XM for new subscribers this last quarter. i think the numbers now are 6.5 mill for XM and 3.5 mill for Sirius.
XM was the first kid on the new block so of course they would have more now. but if the new subscribers rate continues the same way then Sirius will take over soon.
I had XM before and i just switched to Sirius. I switched for Howard and i think it has been worth it. I have enjoyed Bubba the Love Sponge also. Danny Bonaducci (sp) will be coming on also.
I am also a big fan of the music and nfl package on Sirius.
I listened to O&A when i had XM and wasnt overly impressed. they did some funny stuff but their constant attempt to be satellite radio tough guy thugs was really annoying. These 2 guys are scrawny guys who wouldnt cut the mustard against real men in a fight. Yet they continually talk about kicking people's butts and stuff like that. its just old and annoying.
i heard O&A will be done after their contract runs out. they arent doing to well and XM may be looking to go in another direction.

You have to acknowledge that the bump in subscribers is almost purely driven by the Howard signing. And Howard didn't come cheap; do those new subscribers make up for the huge gobs of money that Sirius is paying Howard?
I like O&A quite a bit; I sure hope they stick around. The only thing about those guys that annoy me are when they get the ******s in the studio; I just don't find that stuff very entertaining. It's painful to listen to Stalker Patty and Big A (is that his name?) talk.

Don't know where you heard that O&A aren't doing well at XM. Eric Logan, VP of programming was just on today, and basically let the cat out of the bag that O&A are one of the most listened to programs on XM. O&A don't have a long contract. They are on a year to year contract basis, due to the fact that they are known for blowing up there careers. They have already had there contract picked up again.

That's fully expected. I mean Howard was the draw there. That was a given to happen. What about all those other quarters though? You'll probably even see Sirius better in Q1 too. (Because of Howard). But I'd bet after that, you'll see things level off again.
Let's not forget, for as many people who get Sirius BECAUSE of Howard, you're going to have people who get XM BECAUSE Howard is on Sirius. That's a given too.
XM was the first kid on the new block so of course they would have more now. but if the new subscribers rate continues the same way then Sirius will take over soon.
They won't continue. It will level off. Like I said above, the numbers are grossly inflated because it was when Howard started. So of course they'll get a boost then. If anything, you're going to see a decrease, because all the people who wanted Howard will have gotten it in Q4 of 2005 or Q1 of 2006.
I listened to O&A when i had XM and wasnt overly impressed. they did some funny stuff but their constant attempt to be satellite radio tough guy thugs was really annoying. I'm sorry, were you talking about Howard there?? Cause you could take out the name "O&A" and replace it with "Howard," and you'll have just described exactly what he's done over his career to John DeBella, Mark & Brian, Mancow, Imus, etc etc over the years. (I listend to Stern for 15+ years, I know I'm right). ;) :p
But I kind of agree with you a little bit. You're probably referring to when the went after that Jim Phillips guy in Orlando (who did insult O&A first). It was amusing at first, but got a little old by Day 2. But c'mon.....they spent maybe an hour or so for a couple days, and then moved on.
i heard O&A will be done after their contract runs out. they arent doing to well and XM may be looking to go in another direction.
Nothing is farther from the truth here and I'd love to know where "you heard" this. I won't address much more, because examinate already did.

If Howard had a commercial air on the advertising him going to Sirius, you would have thought it was hilarious.

I do not under stand why everyone is all over each other for. Both are great and I don't care who you are If you have one then the other sucks. I am the same way but for me it was not a choice. I have had Sirius for years and I couldn't go without it. I have never been much of a Howard Fan and I still don't listen to him that much. But I like all kinds of Rock Music from Classic Rock to Hard Core Metal and I am sorry but I work for Chevrolet and I have Direct TV So I am no Stranger to XM but Sirius has XM Beat Hands down when it comes to Rock. Over half of XMs rock channels are Progressive, Electric, Punk stuff I don't care for. While Sirius has atleast 7 real rock channels not including The Stones and The Springsteen chanels. And I can't forget Elvis radio. Elvis Rules. And as far as Howard and O&A go I don't see how either compare to Bubba. His show if the funniest thing I have heard in a while. And just 2 more days and he is going to cut loose. But with all the hype surrounding Stern you would think that Sirius would try and compete with XM on hardware. I have an Kenwood headunit with DVD so it isn't a problem for me but I went thru and have installed many Plug and Play units and personally Both sirius and xm units suck but sirius units are really behind.

You are 100% right about the rock on Sirius. I listen to metal exclusively. XM stinks for metal. I have never liked Howard, and never will. I like O&A. I can see why they rail on Howard, as he did some pretty cheap stuff to them back in the day, all of which can be confirmed.
I listen to what I like. I know others like Howard, and that is fine with me.
As far as Bubba. He started talking about O&A, so O&A responded. I personally think the guy isn't to good, but of course that is my opinion.

Sorry Toight. You don't have a leg to stand on here. If you had any idea what Howie did behind the scenes, you'd be surprised.
Basically Howie is a fraud and a hypocrite. All the stuff he used to complain that Imus did to him......he returned the favor to O&A.
And of course he won't say anything about them. They're the only ones he won't comment on because they'll go toe to toe with him. Guys like DeBella, Mark & Brian, Mancow, they all lost to Howard because they adopted a don't talk about him, he'll just go away.

What did Howard do to O&A behind the scenes? Being that it's "behind the scenes" I wasn't aware what was going on. I have to admit I have been listening to Howard for about 15 yrs or so and did somewhat listen to O&A for a little when they were on WNEW for the afternoons, but couldn;t give them a fair chance since they did afternoons and I worked during that time they were on. But some of the stuff I did hear were pretty funny. I would have liked to see how they woudl have done if they did morning opposite of howard but oh well. Still would liked to know what Howard did to them or at least point me where I can find info.

What seems to get Opie most mad is how Howard has said that he has never held anyone back from doing anything in their careers. Meanwhile Howard put a gag order on O&A. They both worked for Infinity, so you would think they were on "the same team."
But if they ever spoke about Howard, he would complain to Mel Karmazan, and told Mel "I don't want them to even say my name. They're not allowed to talk about me." There was a point where O&A would use "radio edit" instead of Howard's name and they even told the boys they can't use ANY word. Just don't talk about him.
They used to respect Howard, and admittedly say how they would listen to him. And they still say they do respect what he did, and how he WAS they best there is. To this day they still say that, late 80's, early 90's there was none better. He was at the top of his game.
I'm trying to remember some of the other things.....SBrooks & examinate might have some stuff to add.
I think mainly they just got tired of him saying how he invents "everything." When in actuality he doesn't. He's apparently one of the most self-centered people on the face of the earth. Everything is about him. (Just ask Allison).

how do you know this "behind the scenes" stuff irish??? did you work within the company? is this something O&A has said?
not trying to argue. like i said before it doesnt matter to me who people like. people have different preferences.
i just dont get why O&A would try to go after Howard. it doesnt benefit them in any way. they are clearly not on the level of Howard Stern. whether you like him or not everyone knows Stern is the top guy in the industry.
the running of ads on Sterns show and goofing on him really doesnt make O&A any more impressive.
eventually O&A have to get over whatever their problem is. Howard has nothing to do with them and doesnt pay attention to them. if they are trying to start a war its not going to happen. Stern is on a whole other level. and if you say no then look at all the coverage Stern is getting. When is the last time O&A was in the news?
and if O&A are bashing on Stern to gain ratings and chat up the listeners it really isnt impressive either. its basically riding Sterns coattails to gain approval.
Im sure O&A can put on a good show that their fans can enjoy without attacking Howard.
I am in the radio industry and it just doesnt look good goofing on someone to gain ratings. just do you own thing and move on pretty much.

I know from stories that O&A have told on the air, and audio clips that they have played on the air. They have always been the most honest DJs that I have ever heard on the radio and that's why I trust and value what they say. Whereas I've heard clips of Howard flat out contradicting himself or lying. He lost me a couple years ago. Right around the time he started getting un-funny too. The thing about Howard is he's popular because of the people that he has on his show. I listened to him for over 15 years, and he was a riot. But as time went on I started realizing that it wasn't him that made the show. It was the Billy West's, the Jackie's, the Artie's, the Fred's, Gary the ******, John the Stutterers, etc etc. So if anyone is doing the coattail riding nowadays, it's Howard.
He's riding the coattails of himself. Late 80s, early 90s Howard from when he was at his best.
Howard won't go toe to toe with them because he will lose. See that's the beauty of it. Remember the days when he went after all those shmoe's John DeBella, Mark & Brian, etc etc. He went after them because they wouldn't fight back. Now that he has guys who are up to the task and who could beat him, he won't do anything.
I'll give you this much, O&A aren't on the same level as Howard. You're right there. They do a MUCH better show than him. Don't think that they plotted to air an XM commercial during Private Parts either. It wasn't them. That was an XM decision. They haven't mentioned word one about it.

let me give you a bit of REAL inside information.... DJ's are a lot of things... but HONEST IS NOT ONE lol:D .
DJ's are there to put on a show and act. its entertainment. that includes making things up. i know i do that on my show. its not what really happens in your life but what you can make up that would be entertaining to tell.
for example... noone would care if O&A went on air and said either "Howard Stern was a good guy" or "Howard Stern wouldnt say hi to us in the hall." Thats boring and not entertaining. But coming out and saying "Howard Stern is the biggest piece of garbage on earth" is more entertaining.
I know you like O&A and thats fine. but dont listen to them thinking they are being honest with things. about 90% of what DJ's say are either completely made up or embelished.

I guess it's a matter of preference and of course who you believe, I wouldn;t doubt the behind the scenes bit, happens all the time inthe entertainment business, I mean I might even "backstab" someone I don't personally know to get ahead in the business, the business they are in is cutthroat and they do whatever it takes to get ahead. Funny that you say that. O&A love talking about how phony the radio industry is and how everyone in radio are liars. They also talk about how they pride themselves on being honest with the listeners, and most always they back up what they talk about. They even talk about how they hate how phony jocks are, right down to the fake jock voices.
Again, like who you like. Everyone has different tastes.

Toight,
You may work in radio, but what surprises me is your so mis-informed about the boys.
See one of the things that make O&A different is they are honest.
Sure they're there to put on a show, but what they pride themselves on is their show is basically like if any of us were doing a show, just ripping with your friends. Somehow for them it just works out to be a funny @$$ show.
Like examinate said, they pretty much tell a lot of behind the scenes stuff and rip on just about any jock who, "puts on a radio voice" or is a fake. That's what makes them such a great show to many people. They're a newer breed and different from anything I've heard on the air.
If you listened to them, you'd see where the difference is.

Toight,
You may work in radio, but what surprises me is your so mis-informed about the boys.
If you listened to them, you'd see where the difference is.
i have heard them and wasnt overly impressed. i explained why in a prior post.
but once again they can say they are honest but you dont really know if they are. just because they say they are doesnt mean they are.
and i have nothing against being dishonest for ratings. it works.
im not misinformed at all... i just am realistic about the industry. like i said im a howard stern fan but i sure the hell know he lies also. you gotta be able to step back as a fan and look at the industry. its just the way it is.
if you sit there and believe they are being honest then they got you as a fan. but in reality there is no way for a casual fan to know they are being honest.
the radio industry is about frauds... and the better you are the bigger fraud you are

XM is going the wrong way with this.... they were the 1st kid on the block.... but there constant bashing and misinformation about Sirius just makes them look paranoid.
i know XM must be a little worried that Sirius has been taking the majority of new customers and stealing some of XM's old customers. but getting into a flame war doesnt help. it will make things worse not better.
XM should focus on getting better programming then flamming. i know it is impossible to get a figure as big as Howard Stern to compete but if you get other people who can put a show together you will have listeners.
one thing i have heard from a lot of people that have switched from XM to Sirius is " i switched for Howard and it was worth it... but the music and other shows on the station are much better as well."
what people prefer is an individual opinion. once again that is fine. my point is that XM needs to stop worrying about Sirius and stop going at them. Just worry about XM and improve. they are #1 because they started first. in order to stay #1 they need to change. You cant be stagnant and think you will succeed because you were 1st

Can you say D'oh!?!?!
come on now... lets use common sense and not think it's NOT happening just because the first you heard about it was from a source through XM.
Why would Sirius want this info out. They want to put a lid on this as long as possible. Get the influx on Howard, let him on the air for a little bit, break the news about him not working Fridays......then hit you with the rate increase.
Why do you think they're doing this?? Cause they're giving you more.?.? No because their investors are screaming mad about the Howard deal and want to see bigger return on their investment.

Are you kidding me.?.? Now you're just yanking my chain, aren't you?
"XM should focus on getting better programming then flamming."
They are adding things left & right. To appease a WIDE variety of listeners. Sirius has Howard.....NFL......Eminem.....which all appeal to men 18-40. Don't give me the Martha Stewart, either. Her show flopped and Sirius already realizes she was a collosal was of $50 million.
XM has a deal with Good Morning America, some woman you may have heard of Oprah, MLB, NHL, O&A, Ellen, Snoop. See they're focusing on becoming more than just satellite radio.
As far as I'm concerned Sirius can keep hemorraging cash on talent.
BTW, what bashing are you referring to from XM?? And as far as I've seen....there's been no mis-information.
Keep in mind for as many people that sign up to Sirius because of Howard, there will be almost as many who join XM because ouf Howard.
(He has a lot of enemies too, so don't go thinking XM is losing people). Their numbers are already leveling off. XM expected them to have a huge, 4th & 1st Qtrs, but they are coming back down to earth, and then XM hits with the Oprah news.
That'll be a little boost from all those house fraus who watch her religiously. :D

You will be getting more show. You will hear the predumped CBS version from 6-9AM and a pure XM version from 9-11 or even later (to 12 NOON) if something is really rolling.
Yes, 6am to 9am will be FCC friendly. REALLY think about the show these days. Without the ****s and ****s what's being talked about is well within FCC guidlines. TASTLESS **** IS NOT A VIOLATION! The same horrid jokes that were made on WNEW can still be made. Sex and cursing are issues.
Anything that will be too much for CBS will be done on XM between 9-11 or 12.
The up side here are the callers who can't afford satellite = more freaks and pissed off callers.
Better guests, TONS more exposure for XM and the show, and most of all sitting in Howards studio doing a show because CBS needed to put the show on to bail themselves out of a cluster****.
Give it a few weeks before you start getting all pissed off! REALLY listen to todays show, take out the curses and tell me how much couldn't be on Free-FM? Just relax for a while and then you can bitch if you're still pissed.
This is a great opportunity for the show, XM and CBS AND the listeners. It shakes **** up a bit and that has ALWAYS made the show better.

So now that the cat is out of the bag when it comes to Opie & Anthony syndicating their XM Satellite Radio show to CBS Radio - a lot of questions have been raised. What's the details on this and how will it affect subscribers/non-subscribers?
First, the bombshell. Today is David Lee Roth's LAST DAY on CBS Radio. This has been confirmed by a CBS representative.
Opie and Anthony will be starting on CBS Radio starting next Wednesday. Opie and Anthony will on a total of 7 markets and not 3 markets as was said on Stern's show.
Of those seven markets, O&A will be on in the afternoon drive slot on Cleveland's WNCX, which will allow "Rover" - WNCX's morning drive jock - to continue broadcasting in his current timeslot.
Opie and Anthony will do three hours simulcast from WFNY studios, from 6am - 9am ET, which will be broadcast uncensored on XM Satellite Radio and a FCC-friendly version will be simulcasted on the CBS stations. Then O&A will go down to the XM studio and broadcast an additional two hours, from 9am - 11am ET, exclusive to XM Satellite Radio subscibers. Additionally, there's word that more programming will be added to High Voltage 202 as an added value.
During the simulcast, O&A will be allowed to publicize XM Satellite Radio with little (if any) restrictions. This has no relation and does not void the CBS Radio lawsuit against Stern, because the lawsuit is not about mentions of SIRIUS but rather the alleged hiding of a subscriber incentive. There's little doubt though that this move by CBS to allows free XM publicity will be brought up in the courts.
Expect an official press release on this very soon (possibly today?).

Yep.
And Stern wished them luck... Good for O&A and good for everyone...
Looks like the only loser in this is Roth... and CBS when they lose their lawsuit, lol.
O&A will produce a good show, no doubt. The only thing that will suck for them is the FCC pressure. The good news with that is they can always tell CBS to F off and then head back over to XM full time - where they will have brought over more subscribers. This is actually a GREAT thing for XM and O&A and a desperation move for CBS should O&A ever part ways. (CBS is actually PAYING their personalities to steal listeners from terrestrial radio should they leave, LOL!)

I do have to agree with Goalkeeper there. It does seem like a little bit of desperation on CBS Radio's part. It is a perfect example of "my enemy's enemy is my friend."
Even though Moonves is suing Howard for promoting Sirius while on FM, now they have a deal with XM. This is quite interesting, if you think about it.
People have made speculation of XM & Sirius merging, but the idea of a satellite company & and FM company pulling off some kind of quasi-merge/arrangement was never really considered.
Great news about DirecTV too. I never needed it, (since I have XM), but still great news. More audience = more gooder.

I've seen both of them on Last Comic, heard Vos for years on the O&A show, but have never seen him live. OMG. All I can say is you HAVE to make a point to go see him if you get the chance.

Dude, I hadn't hear that AT ALL! (about the XM Sirius merger) But I'll say this: THAT WOULD KICK MAJOR ***!!!! Wow!
And then, when you think about it, (if you want to think in terms of conspiracy theories) that would make PERFECT sense for CBS to partner with XM/O&A in order to prevent XM and Sirius from merging... because, at the end of the day, if XM and Sirius merged then that would TOTALLY and COMPLETELY facilitate an even greater mass exodus to satellite radio.
Jesus that would be SWEET! XM hardware, NHL, MLB, O&A... WOW!
Not saying it is going to happen but it definitely makes sense that it would one day happen... and in this day of mergers/aquisitions it is totally plausible.

1. Howard can say crap now, and lie...O&A has FAR more listeners now!!!
2. O&A are the ones revolutionizing radio...airing on satellite and free FM, airing two separate shows, one uncensored and one for everyone to hear for free regulated by the FCC...and they were the 1st!!!!!
3. RAAAAAMOOONNNN.....
I'm really going to hate the free radio show as much, and it will be watered down and not near as entertaining due to the restrictions. Ive been listening via XM and have enjoyed and gotten used to listening there...fans that havent heard them in 4+ years will like it and be happy...but the fun no doubt will be had by those have XM and will be able to listen to everything....and everything uncensored.

BINGO!!!
That is 99.9% of the reason why. Jesus. I mean I get PISSED when it is SOOOO CLEAR they are making up stories and taking 'sides' just to stir crap up. I mean, I can just hear them in their meetings planning it out about who will say what... I mean, there is NO WAY they believe some of the stuff they claim to stand by.
And then there's that one guy (DJ Jazzy Jim) who sounds like a total fool who says crap like, "One time I spanked my girlfriends kid and the dad got pissed and I have no idea why... the kid deserved it." Tired. He tells these supposed 'stories' all the time that are obviously lies just to generate strong opinions for people to call in and yell and make fools of themselves.
And then there's the girl who I cannot STAND for 2 reasons:
1) Her voice is the most annoying voice in the world
2) She reminds me of a spoiled sorority girl
But the funny thing is that of everything I hate about that show, I actually kind like Rover himself. But the material, his co-workers and his 'bits' are just annoying as hell.
Oh, and that whole, "Make Rover Laugh" contest? That reeks of the whole "Win John's Job" contest they had on Stern last year.

Good for O&A, man!
Sirius and Stern fans (like myself) are the REAL winners... I get to laugh TWICE as much!!!!!! O&A are FUNNY. They make me LAUGH! I listen at home on DirecTv and I'll listen in my car when I feel like it. Stern rules and his show has KILLED on Sirius. He's the old Howie. I love the guy, I especially love Artie and Fred is BY FAR my favorite dude on the show. It's not just about Howard - he has a LOT of other ingredients making up that sweet, sweet soup he serves me up every morning.
I feel sorry for the people who hate him just because they think they know what it's like to listen to him on Sirius when they can't even listen. I agree, Stern had gone stale in FM but he's KILLING on Sirus.
But again, I don't care... just make me LAUGH! If O&A are doing that on the day Stern is not then there's no way in hell I'm not going to tune in just because it's the <GASP!> dreaded O&A show!!
Seacrest... OUT!

Yawn.
Who cares?
Good for O&A, man!
Sirius and Stern fans (like myself) are the REAL winners... I get to laugh TWICE as much!!!!!! O&A are FUNNY. They make me LAUGH! I listen at home on DirecTv and I'll listen in my car when I feel like it. Stern rules and his show has KILLED on Sirius. He's the old Howie. I love the guy, I especially love Artie and Fred is BY FAR my favorite dude on the show. It's not just about Howard - he has a LOT of other ingredients making up that sweet, sweet soup he serves me up every morning.

Agreed, its all about entertainign the listener, and howard has gotten back to the way he was, and is so much better to listen to now! Plus he hasn;t said crap about the O&A move, the 1st time the subject was bought to him, he actually said good luck to the both of them, his beef is with CBS, he really doesn;t care and actually knows its a good move for them, career and $$ wise.

As far as Howard goes. I have never liked him. I haven't liked him ever. He just never made me laugh. This was long before O&A were even around, so I can't use that as an excuse. O&A, and especially little Jimmy kill me daily. Speaking of Jimmy, have you guys seen the previewes for "Lucky Louies" on HBO? They all have Jimmy in them. He is gonna be the star of that show. I can't wait till it comes on, and that meaty breasted little man blows up.

What's laughable is that you wouldn't have a clue because you don't listen to him every morning...
And who cares about the amount of listeners???? WHY WOULD I CARE???? LOL! *I* have my subscription and *I* can listen to him so I couldn't give a rip about how many listeners can hear the guy.

Well being thats its a transfer from terrestial radio to Satellite, of course he is not doing an immediate killing, plus he has been on only ~4 months, not like a few millions people gonna go buy a new radio immediatly.Either way like Goalkeeper said, who care, I also have my SIRIUS radio and enjoying him, as other are enjoyign O&A, so who really cares who is making a killin on what as long as each have enough of a fan base to continue with thier respective shows.
But as for O&A giving the CBS track record I would just be weary if I were them of CBS and how they have so far in stabbing thier employees in the back, if they disapprove of something.

Because HE lies, HE boats about his arrival to Sirius, and bullcraps his fans and brainwashes idiots to think he is the end all be all of radio. I loved Howard, used to be a HUGE FAN OF HIS SHOW, went to book signings in the city etc. but, the show is garbage. Oh and BTW...I did listen to the show on sirius for some time and hated it...'cause it was the same "mediocre" show he did on regular radio...just add curses!!!
Howard even admited he was doing "mediocre" radio as per his many clips that O&A tool on whenever he tries to lie to his fans and so on...

Pop Quiz.....
anyone know the reason why they start each show with "Ecstasy of Gold?"
(I'm seriously asking, no hidden joke here). Just curious if there was any meaning to it.
I guess the same could be asked of the guitar siren sound from Rage Against the Machine's version of 'Street Fighting Man." Why do they use that sound?
I've listened to them for years, and have never asked......

Well the show has been doing the CBS/XM thing for a few weeks now.....what does everyone think?
I don't mind it so much. I thought the CBS part would mess with what the show had become in the 1.5 years on XM. But they really have done a decent job.
I do wish XM would come through on a couple things as far as getting some higher end guests on their portion of the show too. That has been my biggest complaint since before they had signed with CBS too.

I love it so far. :D
I forgot to tell you guys that last Thursday I got on Ron and Fez!! :D I'm on another board and a mod there is named TankRizzo so any chance I get to call I drop his name just for the hell of it. So I called last Thursday when they were talking about The Dixie Chicks. I was "Scott from Virginia" and I started off with "Me and my buddy TankRizzo are in agreement...."
I wasn't in debate mode when I called so he kinda stumped me when he asked me who else goes overseas to talk smack about the US. My only intention was to name drop TankRizzo regardless of what else I said. :D

Oh snap, the instant feedback that was read on the air causing the show to end today was sent by me!! LOL But it wasn't my comment. Someone else said it on another board and I sent it in under his name!! LOL

What you mention here is what I thought was going to be the downside of deal. Turns out to be true, but its nothing I can't live with.
The boys alluded to this in yesterday's conversation with Kevin Smith: Don't be surprised when the boys go to 100% terristal and all we get on XM is a CBS simulcast (sp). If the boys do well, CBS will want more of their on-air time, so they'll just cut a check to XM to get it. Opie said it best yesterday, "money talks".

Where were you in line...The line was sick!!!!

Initally I was like the third one in line so I got the dvd and a signed pic that was personalized. But then as I got out my friend got there and me and him went to the back of the line(I got another wrist band but they were out of dvds at that time so I ended up getting somthing signed for a friend and somthing signed for sbrooks) and by the time I got there again they were rushing things a bit more(they had to make that 9pm party the messageboard peeps set up) not personalizing the autos and doing things quicker overall. I asked Ant about an internship and Kenny told me to e-mail Steve C haha. Also dude all three are nice overall especially Norton. I wished him luck with lucky louie and he excitedly said thank you.
Another thing of note is I was part of that rowdy crew up front sayin **** to people. Eventually BAM hung and was saying messed up stuff to people(there was a dude in a wheelchair who BAM kept calling christopher reeve and saying up, up, and away). But he saw some lady with a huge mole, goes "You got a bug on your face" and she confronted him about it and he backed off hahahaha. Got pics with the crew(when things were more rushed), Pat from Moonochie, Big A, and No Filter Paul.

Dude...are you bald? Or standing next to a bearded dude etc.?
I was there around 5:30, 5:45 and saw the frint of the line and said there was no shot at me getting a pic with him etc.
I was wearing black shades, bald dude...I heard and saw when same bald dude walked by with a pitbull and the guys in the front of the line were calling him..."Jimmy", "Hey Jimmy"
