I found an opener Mawae at TRU in Tustin, but there is some scalper that is there EVERY morning when the doors open. For me to get mine was a huge hassle, and he wasn't very happy about it, but I made sure I got one.

Hey everybody,

Haven't posted much lately... hope everyone's doing well. Went to my first hockey game of the season last weekend... the Ducks shoot-out loss to Dallas. Exciting stuff with a 2-goal comeback by the Ducks in the 3rd period. Ducks rookie Ryan Shannon tried this dipsy-doodle move on the shoot-out, but Turco anticipated and made the save. Good stuff. Haven't been to Staples for a game yet -- I know I wanna go to Luc Robitaille's retirement game in January, but no other plans yet.

Nice to hear those that made it to the gathering at the ESPN Zone / Downtown Disney last month had a good time. Hopefully I'll be in town for the next one. How's this for some ideas for future get-togethers:
-- Kings-Ducks game at Staples has been mentioned a few times -- I'm still game for this.
-- If enough of us can get a date and time confirmed, we can do a poker "home game" at the Commerce Casino. Or if someone's able to host a poker night too, that might be fun. (Something I brought up before!)
-- Hooter's (Billy's idea!). The Hooter's in Santa Monica is pretty big and has tons of screens there. I've only been there once for an "LA Kings Watch" party a few years ago... even won a Kings t-shirt too!
--> Let's just make this SoCal gathering on the LA County side of things... sound good?!

On another note how's Frank & Son's these days?! Haven't been there since February or March. Still the same SP dealers at the show? If anyone's been there within the last few weeks what's the Leinart selling for? Like a lot of other people on the boards (and here I'm sure! :) ), I'd love to get my hands on one of those. Anyone remember all those FSN promos last year for a Leinart special -- the "story of a cross-eyed boy from Santa Ana". Can't remember if it was "Beyond the Glory" or "Before they were big" or something like that, but that line in the commercials always cracked me up.

One last thing for now... I see a few of you mentioned "Big Lots". My nearby store still has a bunch of Larry Walker D-Backs figures available for $3.99 each. Those 12-inch Kings Gretzky figures I mentioned 5-6 months ago are long gone, they had a few NBA a while back and those are gone as well. Anybody been finding any bargain SPs around lately?!

POWER PARTY: The Bud Light Chargers Power Party is the ultimate tailgate party featuring live bands, large screen TVs with NFL Sunday Ticket, great food and beverage selections, games, prizes and more. The Power Party takes place during the regular season at section F-2 in the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot and begins three and a half hours prior to kickoff. Admission is free and open to all ages.

I just wanted to let all you guys know that my wife gave birth to our 3rd child on January 1st, 2007.

His name is Edgar Bill Sipin Jr. and was born at 5:44pm, weighed in at 6 pounds 12 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long!

Mom and baby are now home resting safely!

Now there is another Angels, Ducks and Chargers fan in SoCal !!! :D

I'll be at both Wings games this weekend. I'm in section 111 for the Kings game and grabbed seats in 437 for the Ducks game but I have passes to the Jack Daniels club so I'll be there for most of the game. I really wish I could hit the Wings practices. I need to get some jerseys auto'd.

Smokey: Nice grab on the Ovechkin chase. I knew that there had to be more figs in the back at that store. They never had much out on the pegs. I had to break down and buy an Ovechkin on ebay since I was having zero luck.

The girlfriend and I ended up buying the Kings Holiday pack -- she wanted the fleece blanket. The first game was on December 26th -- she gave the tix away to that game to her cousin, but we got to keep the Rogie Vachon mini-jersey giveaway. So three more games for sure (all in the 300 level), and we'll probably go to fan appreciation day as well (it's a tradition). Plus it's always cool to see the players give the jersey off their back to a fan. I think we've gone to the last 4 or 5... but no luck yet.

I'm around for a little longer, then I'll be out for the evening (at the Ducks game), but will check into the thread and PMs in the morning.

I actually had an eventful night at the game on Saturday. One of the in-game giveaways was for the "Parking Spot" The row in front of us won and they had extra passes, so we got a voucher for 3-days free parking at LAX. You could see the crest of my Kings jersey on the video scoreboard.

The KROQ tailgate party was pretty fun.... good food, beer, wine and soda. :) Other than Stryker (who was hosting and DJ'ing), I saw morning personality Alex (who Kevin & Bean call "Super Wh@re").. and yes she looked pretty good. ;) But the big thing was that they were giving away prizes. The first was a team-signed jersey for which they had a ho-ho eating contest. They gave away a team-signed stick and a signed Frolov jersey as well... just missed out on the stick. All the broadcasters were there and Jim Fox even went on stage and gave away one of the prizes too.

But the big prize was a custom-made Kings electric guitar. It's got the crown logo and the LA skyline on it... Guess who won?!?! Billy, could you tell I was happy about winning?! :eek: :eek: Unlike the other questions which were Kings trivia, this one was a KROQ question. You had to name all the KROQ DJs who work weekdays. I was picked and I got them all but was temporarily stumped until I remembered the last one I was missing... Nicole Alvarez. I'll try & post a pic Friday or on the weekend. It looks awesome!! :D

I'd go with Team LA at the Toyota Sports Ctr in El Segundo at the Kings/Lakers/Sparks training center. I got my Ryan Smyth Blue Oilers jersey done there -- and the name, numbering and "A" for alternate captain came out great. I'll try and post or send you a pic in the next few days. They do skate sharpening and other stuff there as well.

I don't know if this is still the case or not, but the staff had told me back then that the stitching / customizing work was done by the same guy who does all of the Kings jerseys. And since I got it made back in 2001, they had mentioned that he did all of the NHL all-star jerseys as well (that was when the game was in LA, and you might remember they even stitched the flags on the jerseys too). It took some time, but it was well worth the wait.

I'm guessing you want a Wings jersey done, so don't go with the Ducks store. I know the store at the Pond (sorry Honda Ctr) only does Ducks jerseys -- I spoke with someone there at the game on Friday and they only have the templates for the current Ducks jerseys. So you couldn't even get a previous Ducks jersey done there... I found that kinda strange. What jersey or jerseys did you want to get customized?

Marty mishandled their time outs and what was with that challenge? The coach always goes down, even if the players blow it. The Chargers need someone else in there. Time for a change.

The Chargers had plenty of opportunities to win the game. We had great field posistion in the first quarter and came up empty. Let's face it, you cannot let a team like the Patriots hang around in a game that close. Rivers looked good the whole game, I know he had the 1 pick and fumble, but he was very good in the pocket and not rattled.
You can't blame the Coach's for this lost, Just like EDBSIP said, players made those errors. I thought it was great to have a chance to see Brady play a game, that SOB was so cool in the pocket, the people in my immediate area all said the same thing.
It's a shame they lost and the years over, hopefully they use this lose to motivate themselves for next year. I hope that they re-sign Turner and pay that guy what he's worth because he could be a starter on any other team.

I'm telling you man, go with Team LA in El Segundo... not at Staples Center. It might be the same situation there as with the Honda Ctr... they might only have the templates for Kings jerseys and don't have a clue as to the kind of stitching and customizing that you would want done.

As I mentioned in my earlier post... the Team LA Pro Shop at the Toyota Training Ctr know what they're doing. Before you go to the expense of shipping everything north, check them out first. Best of luck!

I haven't found anything lately, but then again I haven't been looking. I did receive my NHL Legends case from Kim @ SpawnToys last week. If anyone is ever interested in ordering cases check them out... they provide a boardmember shipping discount, fantastic packaging (they double-box their sealed cases and tons of packaging protection), and they're based out of Washington state so FedEx shipping to California is pretty quick as well. My case breakdown was perfectly split -- two of every figure, with the extra Perrault being the white chase. Happy with that, but I got a horrendous paint job on the blue regular Perrault. There's a big glob of yellow paint right above the crest. That's one of the worst I've ever seen. Not too happy with that. :mad:

I did have a rare chase sighting the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I found an Avs Tanguay and a Henrik Sedin sitting on the shelves of the Puente Hills TRU. I was astounded that I found an NHL chase figure on the shelves (my first since Roman Turek, a later one being a Gaborik that my girlfriend found at a KB once), not to mention that I found them at the store in closest proximity to Frank & Son's. Quite the pleasant surprise there. :D

There was a Marines truck parked outside the store that day collecting last minute "Toys for Tots" donations, so to celebrate my good fortune I bought an extra toy and gave it to them. Plus my girlfriend and I each took a toy from the trunk (we had gone to the Mattel outlet earlier in the day), and gave those to them as well. Good karma, right?! :)

I actually live in Westwood! Unfortunately there aren't any TRU or WalMart stores in the area. There was a TRU in Santa Monica just off the 3rd Street Promenade but that closed about a year ago or so. There is a KB Toys in the Westside Pavillion -- I go there once in a while, but there's never anything there. Funny story last time I was there a lot of the NBA figures were carefully slit open and the basketballs were removed. Can you believe the nerve of some people?! :rolleyes:

There actually is one collectible store right in Westwood Village. That would be the Kevin Smith store, "Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash" that's right on Westwood Blvd near UCLA. They don't sell any Sports figures though. However, they do have non-sports Mcfarlanes (Spawn figs, etc.) along with comic-related toys like Marvel Legends and DC Direct stuff plus busts and statues as well. Be warned their prices are a little higher than regular retail though.

Extremely short notice here... but I have two tickets for tonight's Ducks - Coyotes game if anyone wants them.

Forgot that I had these tix and the girlfriend and I can't go. We had bought a couple of the Wild Wingers kids packages back at a November or December game -- the team was donating them to kids in an OC children's hospital. As thanks, the Ducks organization unexpectedly gave us a free pair of tickets to this game!

If anyone wants them, they're all yours. The only problem is that it's 4:30, the game's in Anaheim and I'm here at work in Hollywood until 6 pm -ish. So if you want 'em, you gotta come and get 'em! PM me soon if you can come and pick 'em up in Hwd. Will cross post on the Ducks thread too...

It's too bad those tickets went to waste. I know my posts here on the boards were extremely short notice. A friend from work was going to take them, but something came up and he couldn't go. Which is why these *free* tickets became available after 4 pm on Wednesday! Oh well. Like I said I didn't pay for these tix... the Ducks gave them to us for our charitable donation. Methinks the current Kings organization could learn a thing or two from the other team here in SoCal... ;)

So Billy, when's the next Kings game you're going to? LMK if you're going to any more games this season and we can meet up again. Nice chatting with you at the Luc game recently... I have to post more on the Kings thread...

As of right now I'm going to three more at Staples -- vs. the Ducks on March 1st (part of the Holiday pack), March 12 vs. the Oilers (got the good seats for that one!), and the finale vs. the Coyotes on my my birthday... April 7th. Hopefully I'll get a birthday gift of a "jersey off the back" of a Kings player. Knowing my luck it will be Avery's though... :rolleyes:

Not sure what games I'm eyeing for the rest of the year. I'll be in Nashville on Feb. 24th for the Wings vs Preds. I will try to hit the season finale for both teams because those are always fun. I just need to check the schedule. I'm really hoping I can get out to Detroit for the 1st round of the playoffs.

Scored some new MLB yesterday. The Huntington Beach TRU got solid cases of Chavez, DiMaggio, Williams and Maris. I got a reg. Maris and the chase on the other 3. No Cards Maris though so I'm guessing since that was the only fig missing that the stockboy grabbed it. There were 12 figs of the other 3 on the pegs when I walked up. Also 4 each on the Cubs and Yankees 3paks.

TRU in Bell Gardens, just peeked in, they were building a display up front with all kinds of baseball items and BAM there it was. They had 36 figs and this one was the only chase.. I'll def bring it next time.
