I'll give this a shot, since I've already bumped into a few of us on here (plus one from my old hometown!).

Here's a cut-and-paste from one of my other posts:

I'm actually a transplant. I moved from Salinas (up in Central Coast Cali) down to San Dimas back in 1997. Then, last summer I moved down to Walnut. I'm a transplanted Sharks fan.

I'm a newbie collector since I only have a handful of figures:
Shanny/Blake 2-pack
Nolan regular
Nabokov regular and chase
Thornton/Brodeur 3-inch
(all of these are open except for the Nabby chase)

I'm gonna try to stop by Frank&Sons this Saturday and buy the rest of the 3-inchers to put in my cubicle. I'm considering picking up the Selanne at some point and then having that and my Nolan customed with Sharks teal to match my open Nabby. Still thinking about it.

I'll throw out a couple topics: Frank & Sons, Frisco's waitresses. Discuss amongst yourselves. :D

Good idea with the thread. I had one going a couple years ago (seems like it was that long) and it got a lot of responses. I was amazed at how many So Cal guys there are. I would be at Frank's on Saturday, but I work at noon so I'm not gonna make the trip. I recommend dealing with Donny at Got-Toys. He's got the big booth on the front end near the area where the wrestling ring is. Very cool guy and usually has most everything SPs. Hulkster and Gooker1 will vouch for him as well. We'll all have to meet up one day and talk shop.

Tealfan: Shoot me an email. I have some open 3" NHL that you can have for cheap and I got an Avs Selanne in my NHL repaint set that I don't want and you can have that as well. Email is in the sig.

Thx for the info on the 3", guys. I see them all the time at my local Targets so I guess I'll have to buy there. Was hoping to get them below retail at Frank & Sons, but oh well. Got my Nolan there for $8, which I thought was a good deal. One thing tho, I haven't seen any Lemieux/Giguere's anywhere. Ducks fans must have grabbed them all. :)

I use to do the Frank and Sons thing, but I haven't had the time to get out their and the Wed-Sat thing is a tough schedule to make. I use the local Toys R US mostly, I have made nice nice with the crew that work there and I usually get what I am looking for.

I started about three years ago with Simpsons figures and Comic Figures (Marvel Legends/Marvel Select/Kingdome Come) But I have quite the Sportspick collection now.

I've never found anything at that Fullerton TRU, Target or Gamestop. I've pretty much given up looking there.

Whats up Bro, Frank N Sons, is a place in the City of Industry. Its a big warehouse that has about 200 diffrent booths. It has everything from hot wheels, comics, Mcfarlane figures, simpsons, cards, and almost any kind of collectible you can think of. There are about 10 booths, that mainly have Mcfarlane Sport Picks and spawn stuff. It even has a wrestling ring inside. they are only open on weds in the evening and on saturdays.

Have you guys done Frank & Sons meets before? Do you just throw out a time and a place to meet (parking lot? which one?) and whoever makes it makes it? As far as a good place for lunch or dinner, I recommend Frisco's on Gale Ave (near the Home Depot). Decent food and cute waitresses in shorts and rollerskates. :D

Who did you get that custom Eddie from at F&S? because I did one a while ago for a vendor there in his yellow uni, I also did one about a month or so ago in his purple uni. I saw that someone wanted the Carmelo/Lebron 2-pack. I picked up an extra one at Target a couple of weeks ago (Carmelo/Lebron 2-pack at Target:eek: ). Some guys from a SoCal Mcfarlane group that was put together from a few members on this forum were interested in the 2-pack but I guess everyone has their 2-pack. Let me know if you are interested for a trade or to buy at cost for $21.64 ($19.99 + $1.65 tax). I gave the other guys about 2 weeks but no one was interested. I'm out in Pasadena and I will not deliver or ship, just come out to Pasadena. I will return it back to Target if no one is interested.

1st Item: I am going to TRY and do custom figs. I have already purchased alot of paint, brushes, sandpaper, decal paper (in the mail) and decal solvent (also in the mail). I have a Shaun Alexander already primed up. I just have the little problem of, who? Who should I try and customize. I am a Cowboy fan but the only people I would like to customize would be Jay Novacek, Dorsett, and Aikman. The Shaun Alexander does not work for them. So I just need some ideas, of who has a similar body structure. Pictures for references would be a big help too.

Holy crap, I just got back from the Angels/Brewers game(yeah I know its still going on, but my son has to go to school tomorrow), and Ben Sheets is the man. He pitched a perfect game until the 7th when Vlad got a hit.

Anyways while there, we went to the Kids Store on left field, if you've been to the Stadium, you know which one. They had 3 grey Garretts and 1 white Garrett!!! But I forgot my wallet:mad: and only had $15 left after buying food, soda, and cotton candy. The figs cost $18.99. Oh well. I did do a good thing though, I noticed a boy about 10 years old and overheard him tell his mom that he wants to buy a Garrett with his $20. So I told him to buy the white one, because its harder to find, so at least I left happy:) . Well thats my story of the day.

I pretty much have everything in order now. I am sooo excited. I have about 50 diffrent color paints, ranging from Folk Art, Apple Barrel, and Dreamcoat. I have purchased about 5 diffrent sizes of brushes. White Primer, Kyroln, and the Krystal Clear too. I also ordered clear decal paper for inkjet printers from Bell. I was hoping you would know of some other place to get it, but that is fine. Just today I got the last of what I need to start making customs, Micro Sol, Micro Set, and Liquid Decal Film.

I went ahead and found a few pictures of Tony Doresett for reference. Where do I get the Numbers for the Jerseys? and the NamePlate as well? OMG Im still so excited. I feel like a little kid Christmas Eve.

Yeah, I looked EVERYWHERE and could not find decal paper anywhere but online.

For the numbers I just looked/studied the pics and jersey of the player/uniform that they wore and then tried to match the font type in Phtoshop. Try www.1001fonts.com (http://www.1001fonts.com) to download any fonts that you might need. Usually, College font is the most widely used...or some variation of that font. But, just go through all the fonts that you have on your computer or that you dload and try to match as close as possible. And ask here on the board. I've seen some Dorsett customs here so somebody might be able to tell you the exact font.

As far as the color for Mac, I used Christmas Green for the A's green color and School Bus Yellow for the yellow.

Usually what happens is a boardmemeber (A) tries to help another boardmemeber (B) out with one of their hard to get figures, by putting a lil operation together. The boardmemeber (A) then goes around asking if anyone wants to pitch in a few dollars. Usually they are boardmemeber that have a good reputation. So it does nt take too long to get the funds or figures donated to help get boardmemeber (B) that hard to find figure that he has been trying to get.

Here are some pics from tonights Angels/Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium. Angels won 13-0!!! Vlad, Jose Guillen, Adam Kennedy, and Darin Erstad all went deep. And would you believe my son got his second batting practice in the same week!!! Monday he got 1 from Barry Zito and today from Jose Guillen.

My brother just let me know that he and his supervisor, at TRU, found a M's Griff. That his Boss wants it, and hid it for later. He said he found it with overstock. Now the price is only 5.99. I told him to ask him if he ll take 20 for it. I gave him a free figure one time. Maybe he will let me have it.... :: crossing fingers::
