I just ripped open a box of 89 Pro Set series 2. I got 1 B. Sanders 1 D. Sanders, 2 Aikman 1 Irvin and 2 D. Thomas. Not bad for one box :)

Box Beakdown:
2 Packs per Box....36 Triple Relic Cards, 18 of which are Autographed Triple Relic Cards including: Each box contains a Triple Relic and an Autographed Triple Relic, plus 4 parallel cards and 6 regular cards. As a case chase each case should contain a 1 of 1 Autographed Relic card. Triple Relic Cards--- will be numbered to 36, 27, 18, 9, 3, and 1 of 1. Autographed Triple Relic Cards--- single autos with 3 relics will be numbered to 18, 9, 3, and 1 of 1 look for the **** printing plate 1 of 1 version, triple autos with 3 relics will be numbered to 36, 27, 18, 9, 3, and 1 of 1 look for **** printing plate 1 of 1 versions. Base cards 150 with 90 veterans, 10 retired players and 50 Rookie Relic Auots numbered to 99. Parallel cards fall at the rate of 4 per box-- numbered to 499, 199, 99, 25, and 1 of 1 --- rookie auto parallels numbered to 75, 50, 25, 10, and 1 of 1. Look for framed printing plates of the entire set including the Autographed Rookie Relics--- all 1 of 1's.

Hope they fix the goof on the Favre/Marino/Elway triple auto :rolleyes:

went to the local hobby shop and decided to by some packs of cards. I first bought 3 packs of 06 nfl donruss classics. first pack was a Brett Favre timless tribute numbered 30/100. So then the owner of the store trows down a pack of 91 upper deck and says, Hey Merry Christmas, now pull a Favre rookie. Well sure as **** what was the top card Favre Star Rookie. Well the second pack of donruss I pulled a Carson Palmer jersey card 25/250. Thrid pack wasn't really anything good. So I bought 3 more packs, first pack was a Randy Moss 3clr jeresey numberd 3/25. The other 2 packs were decent, got some nice looking inserts. So the guy goes and says, I'll give you a deal on a sealed box $90 bucks. So I bought and these are my pulls from that box. Devin Aromashodu Rookie Auto 521/899, Cedric Griffin Rookie Timless Tribute 06/25, Joe Klopfenstein Rookie 483/999, Bernard Pollard Rookie 0272/1499, Reggie McNeal Rookie 0290/1499, Roger Staubach Legend 0613/1000 Paul Lowe Legend 0642/1000. Now for the Jersey Cards, Edgerrin James Sundays Best 054/250 and this, Classics Quads, Deacon Jones, Clyde "Bulldog" Turner, Harvey Martin, Jack Lambert 25/50.

Hey whats good packs to buy under $10 around $5-6 packs? I dont really collect football cards the other day I decided to buy 5 Legends packs and got a Icky Woods auto. Its for trade lookin for Lee Evans auto. Is gridiron gear good the cards look nice but im guessing the packs are probally expensive.

How much does a pack of topps triple threads go for?

Companies started inserting those a little while after it became pretty apparent that the thicker packs contained the game-used jersey cards, or any insert card(s) that were thicker than the base singles. Basically, to prevent/deter pack searching.

They work pretty well as long as the companies aren't stupid enough to put the insert in the same place in each particular product.

I just (finally) received the new Beckett. I am pretty sure I wish I hadn't. Tony Romo cards are really selling now, aren't they. I remember busting about 4 boxes of those SP Authentic and pulling 2 Romo's. I also broke a box of Contenders and pulled the Romo Auto RC. I remember, then, selling them for about $8-$12 each. And I thought I had done poorly with those products. Guess I should have been more patient, especially as a Cowboys fan. I had figured he'd be stuck on the practice squad behind every free agent QB they were bussing in and out.

I also recall a guy who had a large table of autos/game used at the Cleveland show last year. He had Romo SP Auto RC's in the $6 bins....

Hey Brian, I feel the same way about Brady during his rookie year. Got a bunch of his cards in 2000 and traded/sold all of them for Chargers stuff after their first superbowl. Getting rid of those dang SP and SPX rookie cards just killed me.

Shoot, I had chances to pick up LT SP and Contenders rookies for just under $100 just last year but passed! Argh!

I'd seen bunches of Romo here over the last couple of years too but just never got around to picking them up. Too late now! :)

I remember going through some boxes and finding a few Brady RC's that I never knew I had. That was a good day. No SP or SPx, but even the regular RCs of his were getting about $50 each at that time. LT is just finally getting his due. This guy has been unbelieveable for a while but the national media attention hype machine has finally taken over. Good for him. His stuff has been undervalued for 2+ years.
Okay, I can't be the only one that thinks Matt Schaub in Atlanta is one of the next breakout QB's... if he ever gets a chance. There is a reason the Falcons don't allow that guys contract to expire and him to get an opportunity to be a FA. He's a starter for about 16 other NFL teams, at least. I'm not saying this just because I have many of his auto'd RC's saved up either:p .

1991 UD, Ultra (The Ultra Update card is more expensive but is not the rookie), Score, Action Packed Rookie Update, Pacific, ProSet, but his Stadium Club is by far his toughest/most expensive rookie card. There might be a few others but none of consequence...

Did you post those Contenders on Beckett? It's funny (yet true) as to how obscure some of these guys are. I cannot believe they can't get 4th round draft picks or undrafted FA's to sign on card signatures. Absolutely no offense meant, but I can't fathom that you are even the least bit happy with that product break. It's difficult, but that is exactly why I've only ever purchased 2 boxes of that product. If they would lower the price point of it, it might be worth it. When they start out at about $150 and still get $120 a box, it's a bit ridiculous to pull 4 rookie auto's of guys who didn't even play during the season.

Apparently SP Authentic is out. There's a RC patch auto on the 'bay. Somebody received theirs even though UD had the 10th listed as the release date. (It was originally the 3rd, so I guess maybe it didn't get bumped.)

Just in case anyone here is working the 2006 Contenders auto RC tickets, here's the list I posted over on Beckett. These are from searches performed this afternoon, about 48 hours after the product hit and was broken by a lot of people. Most other RC tickets were well into, at least, 15 listed on eBay. Any below (minus the big names like Leinart/Bush/Drew/Cutler/Colston) were not included because they'll fetch major cash anyway.

Keep in mind this could change, but these should be some of the lowest runs anyhow...

Marcus Vick -0
Jeffrey Webb (Redemption) -1 just showed up
Derrick Ross -0
Kamerion Wimbley -1 (BIN $30)
Kelly Jennings (Maybe... there's 2 listed now, still low)
Delanie Walker -0
Garrett Mills -0
Charles Sharon -0
Brandon Marshall -2 (1 BIN $60/1 going)
Bernard Pollard -2

Those are the lowest that I've come up with. It's only been a day or so, so take this with a grain of salt. 10 might show up tomorrow. No doubt the big names should already be SP's. It's not like there's 40 Leinarts on there.

As a few who monitor this thread already know, I have been working on the Upper Deck NFL SP Authentic "Sign of the Times" autograph set from 2003. I have a well documented discussion with an Upper Deck representative concerning the Terrell Owens that was released for this set. (They list it as 286 released, I've only ever SEEN 4 for sale in 3+ years of attending major shows and monitoring eBay on a daily basis.) I had given up hope until one finally surfaced about 3 months ago. After adding a card that was so difficult to find, I was down to one... the John Elway numbered to only 12. Since Elway has so many collectors of his memorabilia, this was definitely a challenge. Once these pop up they have a tendency to disappear into personal collections never to resurface. As I noticed a lot of Elway's rarer cards being put up for sale on the 'bay last week out of no where, I inquired as to whether the seller had the particular card I have been searching for for 3 years now. The answer was a "yes" and I moved as quickly as possible to complete a deal.

My set is now complete and likely the only complete set in existence outside of any master set that UD has held on to for reference purposes only. Now, I'll just have to pick up another challenge next football card season!

Congrats Bro - I am 3 away from the 04 Legends set. I saw one of the ones I need on the bay - the Namath, but I dont have the $400 to drop at the moment :(

According to UD the redemptions should be getting sent out soon - so I might find the Butkus and Dorsett when those get returned

Thanks, Paul. I'm taking the rest of this card season off for set collecting. The new UD Ultimate "Ultimate Achievement" autographs #'d to 25 are really nice, but I'm going to hold off until next year and see what they do with that. Whatever I go after will still be 'on-card' autographs. About the only cards they do that with are their high-end/year-end sets, so it'll be close to '08 before I start to break the bank again for these cards...

I have 2 more boxes of SP authentic on the way. I am just going to re-sell them. That product isn't worth $100/box and it's getting $170??!! What the heck is wrong with people? I now wish I had bought a case of this junk and sat on it for a month. What a joke. I believe the definition of insanty is repeating something over and over and not learning from it. Purchasing boxes of UD SP Authentic this year at anywhere near current prices is just that. They are nice cards, but the box breaks are some of the most incredibly terrible ever. You end up with 2 defensive nobody RC's, probably a nobody autograph from SP Authentics and, maybe, a patch/auto RC... which you can determine immediately upon opening your box just as I figured. My first box had 7 thick packs and a Kellen Clemens auto/patch. The second had 6 thick packs (as 99.9% of all others that don't contain a RC auto/patch) and it followed suit containing no patch RC. Essentially, my 1st box was loaded. I got the patch RC, 1 Rookie auto, 1 Chirography auto and 2 SP Authentics autos. Yeah, 5 auto's in one box. The next one had 2 auto's and no patch RC. That's UD's typical awesome pack-outs at work. There's no way I'm taking my chances on opening these next 2. I really don't care if the person pulls a Bush, Young or Leinart.

Donruss "National Treasures", UD "Exquisite" and Topps are all out in about a week. They sport $500/pack SRPs and will be ridiculously overpriced. (Already over $750 for the UD and $600 for National Treasures, last I checked.)

If you want 'em, just buy the singles after somebody else dropped about $1k on the pack and got nothing.

As for the comment about Beckett.com, yes, it's been screwed up for about 4 days now. Apparently they do not care or the entire IT department is on vacation and the 'doctor' can't figure that out on his own.

*Edit: Beckett.com is working for me now. They're blaming it on some DNS error and saying that it was OUR internet provider's fault for not refreshing. I have no idea what the hell that means, especially since I didn't have any trouble accessing any of the other websites in the universe.

I watched a guy buy one pack of this today and hit a 3 color Bush Auto. He told me he didn't want to sell it (he was set up at a show and I was just walking around), then sold it to another dealer there for $400! I couldn't believe it!!!! I told him I would have paid at least $700 for it.

He probably turned around and sold it to another dealer for over $750. If it was a good 3 color patch with stitching, he flipped that thing to someone else for more than $850 within 10 minutes.

Been awhile since I posted on this thread. Still looking for some help with my sports picks display. I use these cards for my SP display, doesn't matter the card make, prefer low end cards as they are only used for display purposes. The card just has to have the player listed in the team listed and the colour uniform listed and preferably a vertical card. Nice pickup on the Manning auto. I hope they win. I know I posted it way eariler in this thread, but I remember when his auto'd cards were $10-$15 all the time on the 'bay. It really wasn't all that long ago. I just wish I had kept a few more of his RC's. I had a lot and sold them about 2 years ago when they first started to get more attention.

Question - looking for some advice.

I have a 2001 SPX Tomlinson (jersey) - serial #'d to 250.

Should I sell this card now in your opinion while his value is at a premium or should I wait until later in his career?

It graded an 8.5 as a Beckett Raw Card Review.

I'm a big Tomlinson fan, but I'm shying away from cards now, so I'm looking to sell some of them, especially if it would be dumb to keep and sell later at a lower value than what it is now.

I'm pretty sure I could get $250 for it.

Sell Tomlinson now. I just gotta believe all this "event worn" jersey junk is going to catch up to some of these cards at some point. There are already people who discount 'sticker' autographs on some of these new cards (myself one of them). I have to think that these event worn jersey RC's are next. There is nothing to hold the value of that card other than a tiny piece of jersey from who knows where. The player can put the thing on for 3 seconds and hand it to a card company representative. I don't know about you, but if I'm going to pay a premium for a particular card, it needs to have an on card signature and/or an actual piece of jersey used in an NFL game.

Paul, have you been following the Beckett message boards and seeing some of the poor redemptions that people are receiving? There are some worried folks, especially concerning redemptions they paid good money for. Have you heard from UD on the status of those Legends autos?
Apparently UD is just looking to get all/most of their redemptions off the books and are sending people just about anything they can to get rid of them. The good news is that it doesn't seem to be happening with the better players, so hopefully they'll honor these HOFers signature redemptions.

The only way they could do that would be to issue only cards that they have returned by the time they pack-out product. That would stink. Some of the players that you'd never see signatures from would be some of the biggest names that would help to promote/sell the product. It does seem that a lot of the more recent retired NFL stars are very good about signing their cards, but some of the legends are definitely not interested in being quick about it. Most of this years rookie class seem to be pretty good, too, which is awesome. Leinart and Bush have very few, if any, redemptions. If they have a redemption, it's likely because of some other rookie that is due to sign the card as well.
I pulled a Laurence Maroney Rookie Exclusives autograph #'d to 100 from SP Authentic. He seems to have signed quite a bit for Topps, not so much for UD for some reason. All of his SP Authentic cards are redemptions. He signed plenty of stickers for everyone else...:rolleyes:

The base sets are gorgeous...super great quality. I have almost every autograph of players from 1987 on. Am toying with the idea of picking up the entire set...although the Joe Montana QB Club goes for big big bucks...

Check tklegacy.com, I know they released Notre Dame binders with exclusive cards, maybe PSU will get the same...

I know they've done Michigan and OSU...

Anyone have the thick Annual Football price guide? Wondering if there's anything in there about the Collegiate Collection sets from 1990...Does anyone know if there were numbered inserts? Curious to know specifically if there is any record of a George Gipp insert card in the Notre Dame set... Any help is much appreciated.

Stuff usually comes out late, but I was talking with my local cardshop guy and he said that date still looks good. I'm ready for some football cards.

And, hopefully I just missed Peterson's name on the Topps Prospects checklist. Only OU guy I see is Rufus Alexander.

Might be a delay in SAGE seeing as they were supposed to deliver the "First Card" cards on the 31st of March and they have been pushed back twice to...today...hopefully...

Just snagged a 2003 Sage First Card Arnaz Battle, just need a couple more Arnaz cards and I'm done :)

If anyone here is a Notre Dame hater and snags any Brady Quinn or Darius Walker cards, I'd be happy to buy them...

Found it funny, I had two items from SAGE being sold by Beckett's consignment, both cards with $9.00 postage each. I asked them to combine the two as they had not yet shipped, well didn't the first of the two cards get shipped immediately...

He said no problem. Nobody asks about ND and I'm his favorite OU guy (of a whopping three).
