What is folks' philosophy on boxes? It seems to me that buying them isn't worth it unless I sell most of my cards I get. I do have that Heather Mitts on ebay since I have no interest in it. I don't feel like I have the time to sell 100 cards on ebay....

IMO, i love breaking boxes for the hunt aspect. If there's a particular jsy or something like that that I want I'll trade for it. Like I'm working out a deal right now for aCulpepper JSY

I just opened a box of Prestige and was not impressed. I did get an Alex Smith RC, but the inserts along with the 2 jersey cards were boring. My main complaint would be the picture quality. All the photos look faded.

The last one sold for $250 a few months ago and just last night i picked up the regular version to go with it!Somebody ran the price up on me on the regular though :mad: There was 2 of them that ended last night, about a half hour difference. I had the high bid of $77 with 5 minutes left on the first one(with a max of $150) and he came in during the last 5 minutes and ran it up to $136 before he stopped, So i won it for $136 and i had a ebay coupon for $15 off any purchase over $100. So then he moves on to the second one and won it for $77 :mad: :mad: :mad:

Alex Smith Production Error in 2005 Elite Football

Donruss Playoff has announced a production error related to the 2005 Rookie Cards of both first round pick QB Alex Smith of the San Francisco 49ers and third round pick TE Alex Smith of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"Unfortunately, it has come to light that the team logos and draft round of the two Alex Smiths were reversed during the creation of their rookie cards, and subsequent parallels, in 2005 Elite football and the error was not caught in time to correct the issue," said Len Shelton, Donruss Playoff public relations manager. The affected cards are numbers 104 and 105 from the base set, Aspirations, Status and Gold Aspirations parallels.

A plan is already in place to get the correct versions in the hands of collectors. Donruss Playoff has already begun the process of creating the correct versions of each card and plans to make them available to collectors as early as mid-August. Shelton also said, "any collector who has either Alex Smith rookie card or one of the listed parallels may return the card to Donruss Playoff Customer Service to be exchanged for the correct version."

The correct version that the collector will receive in return will be determined by the photo on the card in their possession. For example, the card with Alex Smith the Quarterback, currently with a Tampa Bay logo on the front, will receive the same Alex Smith card, but with the correct San Francisco logo and card back, in return. The corrected card will also be stamped with the same serial number card as the error card and the error card will be destroyed.

The Turn of the Century autograph parallel card (#105) was also affected by the photo error, but is not eligible to be replaced.

I have a Ben Roethlisberger Fleer Ultra Lucky 13 rookie card for sale. The card is #’d 10 of only 500 issued. It is # 213 in the Fleer Ultra set, technically the only Roethlisberger rookie card in the set. Stated odds are 1:100 packs. The Gold Medallion parallels are not numbered and are not considered rookie cards. If you doubt the previous statement look in January 2005 football Beckett page 8. Hard to say, not real familar with the Canton Calling set. If I had to guess I'd say it was fake though, just my opinion. I can't see them using the Logo on high #ed cards. Usualy see the Logo patches in the lower #ed set's and it's mostly the full patch. Like LCM and their mirror black logo patches for example. When I see half a patch like that it tends to scare me away and makes me think that who ever did it cut the patch in half and put a half in 2 different cards to make more $$$. But stranger things have happened. I'm not saying the person who sold it to you made it, They could have bought it from somebody else not knowing or not caring that it could be fake and resold it. I have seen a few folks who buy them anyways just because they like the way they look!

I won a Playoff POG NFL Logo Seau a year ago and I could tell it was fake because it had bends where they had stuck the logo in, plus it was so loose I could pull it out. Got my money refunded on that one. With this one, the edges are intact and the logo does not shift. I hate that its so hard to tell and yet so tempting to pull the trigger on cards like these. I am even tempted sometimes to buy a fake one just cuz it looks so cool...

I just jumped back into the Beckett football trading message board under my same user name as here last month. Had been away for a good couple of years. Have been searching for other rare logos out of this set with no luck. I'll give it a whirl on the Football chat over there tomorrow.

I heard few story's of people buying cards then when they get them in the mail the patch falls right out of the card! I was talking to a guy at a card show a while back and he said some of these guys split the game used cards into halves(front of the card being one half and the back being the other half) pull out the jersey peice and replace it with a logo patch or somthing along those lines then glue the card back together.

I like to see other people's collection's, no card shop around here anymore and my family thinks I'm nut's :D

Pulled 30/50 Braylon Edwards TB rookie from a pack of 2005 Topps last night. Also found some rack packs - throwback cards were all 91s with nothing exciting.
