Hey Gang,
Just curious if anyone around these parts collects original comic art, more specifically, McFarlane original art pages. I have been collecting Todd's work for a few years (actually landed my first piece when I was just a wee lad of 14). I would love to see what pages fans have aquired over the years and also, to highlight a few of my own pieces. If anyone would like to see my humble collection please follow the below link.

Also, I'm still very interested in seeing what sketches folks were able to land at the Spawn booth signing on Sat at the SDCC. Its not too often you see Todd bust out the pen so please, if you got em... lets see em!

Great collection.

I collect myself, but don't have a McFarlane piece. (YET)

If you ever want to part with one of those pages...let me know :D

i've never been into original comic art but i defn. see the appeal. how much did you pay for the total collection? if you don't mind me asking.

im too poor, i wish i had some tho. maybe todd will include a sketch when they send me my signed copy of spawn from winning the message board contest. could one of the mods tell todd i have cancer? i guess that's a horrible thing to lie about, but I do have mono. which makes me sleepy... therefore i need a sketch.

Nice stuff. What kind of price ranges do original pages fetch?

Thanks very much to all who have taken a look at my collection and for all the kind words... just wanted to make you guys aware of a few killer pieces that are currently being offered. One is a page from ASM with a great shot of Spidey and the other is a Spawn cover my buddy used to own--keep in mind this is the ONLY Spawn cover EVER to surface that features McFarlanes inks.
Below are the links to these great finds!

Hey Gang,
Well I had been on the lookout for some pics of sketches that McFarlane did at the SDCC... and then, what do you suppose surfaces on Ebay last week...
Check this out:

The owner also has a Spawn head sketch that he is selling... I have a pic if anyone would like to see... just shoot me an email.
Not sure either are worth the asking price but one can't deny that they are certainly RARE.

I am determined to keep this thread alive :)
Here is a very unique piece of McFarlane original art that is being offered on Ebay. Its a bit old school but IMHO still a very cool piece. I wonder what other cool pinups Todd did... I know of a Wolverine pinup that he did that wound up as the back cover to an issue of Wolverine (can't quite recall the exact issue #). For your viewing pleasure I have provided the link to said auction.
Enjoy!

I agree Tyler J... it's unfortunate that things like this wind up on Ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6205928286&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Half of me feels as though this is a good thing because the seller is obviously NOT a true fan, hence the fact that he is selling an original sketch (and of Spawn :spawnorb: no less… hopefully it goes to a better home) but I also realize that auctions like this can very well hurt the chances someone like myself might have in landing a sketch at a future signing. I can only assume and hope that by now McFarlane has pretty much come to terms with the fact that people will wait in line for hours just to get an autograph or in this case a head sketch… just to turn around a sell it off.

In terms of original McFarlane comic art, Todd made the decision long ago to sell these pages on the open market. It’s not only common to come across his pages for re-sale on Ebay and such, but a fair practice. I feel Todd wouldn’t fault any fan for picking up a page of his art. Perhaps even a page like the below… tell me that top right panel of the Prowler all wrapped up in his cape doesn’t remind you of a certain caped vigilante who just happens to be the walking dead. ENJOY!

Hey Gang,
Just doing my part to keep this thread alive... some really interesting items have popped up on Ebay.
The first is a Marc Silvestri Spawn page I believe from issue 25. This is a GREAT page! Silvestri can really pencil a mean looken Spawn... I think this was the only issue Marc took the artistic reigns on. Perhaps there was a second issue (or third) he worked on as well... maybe a few covers? Either way, check it out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/marc-SILVESTRI-SPAWN-25-SPLASH-1st-app-tremmer_W0QQitemZ6572861830QQcategoryZ14010QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The second item is a truly killer find!!! Not only is this an ultra rare example of Todd's pencil work, it's a freaken prelim to Hulk 344. Okay, so not only do you get Todd's pencils here, but a McFarlane prelim!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am trippen on this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/TODD-MCFARLANE-HULK-344-COVER-ART-AMAZING_W0QQitemZ6574169290QQcategoryZ3985QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Also, for your viewing pleasure take a look at the finished product... one of my favorite Hulk covers (though not inked by Mcfarlane). This guy is VERY fortunate to have such a GREAT Hulk cover. Incase you would like to see this badd boy in B/W:

http://comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=65123&GSub=9112

And while were on the subject of McFarlane Hulk... prepare to drool. This is easily the best image Todd has ever produced featuring the Green Giant:

http://comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Page=1&Order=Date&Piece=79074&GSub=11501&GCat=0&UCat=0

Well that’s it for now... ENJOY!

Hey all...
ORIGINAL AIR-BRUSH PAINTING VIOLATOR TODD McFARLANE
The seller claims it's authentic, with McFarlane pencils beneath the air brushing. I am dying to know if this is the real deal here??? Any thoughts? The sig is sorta suspicious...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6576728146

Also, another early example of Todd’s work... the $ however is outrageous!

Hey Gang!
Hulk 344 Cover Prelim
Recently up 4 auction, the winning bidder had a 0 feedback rating and now it's back! I'm making a play for this one but sadly I'm not in a position to break the bank so perhaps some lucky member on this board will take this gem... check it out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6579320998

And here is yet another early example from the Master:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6577024143

Btw, anyone planning on attending the New York MOCCA (Museum of Cartoon & Comic Art) exhibit featuring Todd McFarlane??? Also, anyone have any pages of McFarlane art they care to share???
