------SKETCH THREAD - October-------

A new month means a new sketch thread, so get out your pens, pencils, paper or whatever it is you use to create and get to it, but before you post your art read this...

Every time you post new art you must also provide comments (critiques, praise, constructive criticism, etc.) about the art of at least three of your fellow board members/artist who have posted before you. It can be any three you choose and please put a little effort into, this thread should be about helping each other grow as artists and share your art with the world.

Simple enough, right?

Carlitos.... Unbelievable... the movement in that picture is just perfect. I'd really like to see that in ink and possibly color if you ever get the chance to get to it. Anyway, sorry I didn't have anything to say when I posted my picture... I accidentally hit submit message while I was previewing it... SO... I'll just add some words when I get around top putting up the other pictures I've got to show... This month is looking great already, I'm excited to see the outcome!

how I can get really cheap photoshop ??? cuz it cost 600$ :(
I had only 30 days trial version of photoshop cs2 and after 7 days the trial was over :confused:

why don't you download the gimp. it's free and it's almost just like photoshop.

some of my favriots posted thus far is carlitos- amazying use of lines and contrast, i think its incredible
house of holy- also a very good piece i love it.
causelessdemon- very nice work indeed, has that lonely feeling to it which i thought was displayed very well

finfanfoom, great stuff, great the way you use the texture in the background to suggest the wall, barbed wire and tower.

HA, bloody amazing, the work on the cloth and face is brilliant. how do u get that effect, what medium is it in? amazing...

why do you want professionals to paint it?
try to download photoshop or other program and practice coloring.
btw pic is very small to color it in good way

About 3 weeks into art school now, and we had to do an ink drawing using hatching and whatnot to get value change. You'd be amazed at how many of these kids have never done anything like that before, but whatever, here's my kitty.

Desk Job- That Priest has great potential keep us posted!

NathanR- Cool looking character really nice job on the coloring.

finfanfoom- You have a great style to your work I especially like the last one.

Cure- Loving your stuff as usuall I really like the page with the sunflower. How's school going?

Draw4u- Killer Batman, great atmosphere.

Elcid- Like the Joker but that heavy shadow on his lower torso looks out of place. I also suggest using india ink it will give you more consistent blacks.

Carlitos- That one is coming along nicely keep us posted.

Yodaghost- That cat is amazing great values.

Deskjob:
would love to see some more work on that Preist. The hair has come along nicely.

Gava:
that second to last batch was pretty awesome. I especially like this one:

AkumaX -- good stuff, love to see a big ol' high volume sketchdump

there are perspective problems, don't simply write these off as stylized drawing,
even Manga must adhere to rules of perspective, or else you end up with crooked face-d people.

Celtic predator:
All I can say is that I am liking the prospects of a troup of heroic zombies. Yay for justified zombie carnage!

The Cure:
I like the Flower, it is mysterious; and that is the ugliest dog ever. Any interesting stuff from school (are you taking art classes at college?)

Draw4U:
Great to see the Batman. Awesome color, good to see some hero pinups again.

these are all great, Are they all covers, because they look like some awesome sci-fi horror books.
my favorite is the Homocidal laser-deprived Brain-bot.

Carlitos:
Incredible detail, It's always great to see new stuff from you man.

Human Animal:
really interesting painting, (in a good/appealing way, not a "I'm humoring you" way.)

A lucky punk-This picture is for an RPG that I illustrated, so the concept was not mine. But the description that was given to me did remind me of Darkman. So yes there is some inspiration from him and also Solomon Kane.

Also, did you have permission to post those pics on the first page? Because there are artists who are pretty protective of their stuff and might see that as art theft.

interesting. First time I've seen something that's not a drawing. Nice job.

and godfather posted art that wasn't his on the first page. That's why I asked if he had permission to post it because there are artists who don't like it when people post their artwork without asking.

Wow, you peoples here always have some cool shiz.

Elcid - I love Joker, Ive been drawing him and various Bat-World people lately and Id like to take a shot at editing/coloring that for you.

Country Time - Thats a wicked badass Alien & Predator, great stuff. What media did you use? Looks like spray paint or computer editing er something, either way, *****ing.

Draw4U - Thats a freaking quacktastic Batman, the only way Id probably make anything that crisp is through computer shtuff, reminds me of Jim Lee's stuff (which is a compliment of course).

The Cure - Heh your work is always pretty rad, noticing that for a bit. Is that your pet chiuaha? Good stuff.

Ive been working on a Batman graphic novel lately so Ive been doing a ****load of sketches of concepts for costumes and facial expressions and full-body stuffs lately, once I get home from this damned high school, I shall post it. Uh I know its been asked somewhere around here, but how do you put up pictures?

You did not ask permission to post that art. Even if you gave credit you still took it without asking the artists who drew it. And I thought this thread was supposed to be for things you draw, not things you find on the net.

Farthermore, there is no rule saying I have to post certain subjects that I draw. Yes, I do other things besides dragons, but I post those because it relates more to this site than the other things I do and it is one of the things I do best in my work. You and anyone else who has a problem with it should just not look at it. It is simple as that. Tips are fine, but telling me I should stop posting and drawing the things I like to do is insulting. Like what happened last month.

Both you and GEAS made those comments which is very immature. Like I said, if you don't like it, don't look at it or make any replies to it.

But without a background, I'm left guessing what the scene is. My first impression when I look at this and see all the white is a military parade, but it could just as easily be a battleground - or a caravan - the possibilities are ... well, not infinite, but many...
