Hi all. Spawn 150 is at the printers...yea! Printer tells me it will be in stores October 26th.

What's the hold up you say?

Well...

Being dumb enough to do a 48 page comic to start...and that is 45 pages of solid story...

Philip Tan getting in a car crash after the San Diego Con...then when he got better getting injured and needing stitches in his eye from a pick up basketball game...(don't worry he's fine)

Time involved in playing with the look of the book...trying to get something different...

Todd being picky...

Me being picky...

Sorry.

The good news is 151 is all pencilled and half inked already...and 152 is half pencilled.
So the idea will be to start closing the gap with those...try a couple of 3 week ships. I'll start posting more preview stuff here on the site.

Trust me...we're working our collective butts off...sometimes things just take longer...especially when you care about the results.

Best,

Brian Haberlin

*Sigh* I'm just going to start adding a week or two to every release date I hear about Spawn. I know that it takes a LOT of work to put this comic out, but I think the fans would appreciate the company to stick to what it says. We were specifically assured 150 would come out two weeks after 149 and I really did believe it. If you can't get it out in two weeks, fine, but don't tell us that it will come out then if you know that you won't be able to meet that deadline.

This one will apparently be longer than 100 was, so that's a plus. Sounds pretty cool. Hope Phillip Tan's okay.

I can take the blame for that one. I got some info mixed up (twice actually) back when Brian first began taking control of the comics. I should have double-checked the details, but I instead went with what was on the paper in front of me (turns out what info I had was more a suggestive plan if all went perfectly well, then any real timeframe for the books release).

I know for a fact Brian is working hard to get out in front of each issue (I've seen the pencils for the next couple of issues) so as to have each issue on shelves when it is scheduled to be on shelves.

Reading this just after reading a few things on Comixfan about how Uncanny X-Men, and practically all Marvel comics nowadays, is filled to the rim with ads making it almost unreadable, this announcement really doesn't seem all that bad. Yes, it's going to be late, but when it comes out it'll be pure Spawn, all 48 (!) pages, non-stop. No double-page Honda ad ruining the pacing. No Family Guy DVD screwing up the mood. Just good old McFarlane-ish stuff.

As a side note, I find it really cool that Brian Haberlin himself posted the announcement. I'm really hoping that we get to hear more from you from time to time Brian. Now, where's Todd?...

Oh, and here's hoping that Philip Tan stays for a good fifty issues, be they on time or not. I'd rather have a single artist pumping out the comic once every two months than have about a thousand artists working on a single title (a la X-Men), ruining consistency.

Man, I just wish I lived in the state. Im from Sweden and Im trying to get a hold on alot of the Spawn comics. Almost have all first hundred Issues. And a couple of Issues with Medina. And now, I've been reading the posts here for a couple of times, and as I have understod it Spawn has been repetative and lost quality. I just wish that I could get my hands on Spawn 150! Mostly to see someone else then Capullo or Medina draw the badass. I like Capullo, but sometimes, I felt that Spawn needed a more "reality" look to it. And then, when Medina started his run, It was a bit disapointing, 'cause his style reminds me more of Spirou or something like that, minus the details. Please, when i. 150 arrives, please tell me how it is, and if possible, reveal some inside art. Take care! The Swed

Dissappointing, but I understand.
Especially with two major set-backs like that!

Can't wait 'till this thing comes out.

They said it would be big, but I never expected 45 pages!
Wow!

Can't wait.

I just logged onto the site to check if the book was out today. I'm eager to see it too! There have been a number of delays for issue 150, but when you get to see it, I think you'll find it was worth the wait. I can also tell you that things will speed up after this. I'm writing 153 right now - and doing some research for issue 155. Phil sent me his latest pencils for 152 this morning and they are looking excellent. Phil is really pulling out all the stops on Spawn and his art is just getting better and better. We hear you all when you say you're frustrated with the delays but please be patient for one more week...

And did Brian really say Spawn will be coming out in three-week shifts? Dang! I'd better get back to work!

I'll check back next week to hear your opinions on how we did.

Later,

Dave Hine

now why didnt someone say that earlier?

we could have all accepted these reasons and be patiently (sort of), waiting.

still at least its this month i was beginning to fear that it would be a lot longer......

Thankyou mr Hine for speaking to the fans directly!

i wont whinge and whine any more.
