I have more money to blow on a hardcover, but only 1. I have narrowed it down to some of Alex Ross's work, Kingdom Come and Marvels. I don't know which one I should get though.

Which of these 2 would you guys suggest I get? I was leaning towards Kingdom Come.

I think I read Marvels some time ago, if I'm thinking of the right one, then it's basically the whole "rise of the superhero" deal through the eyes of an average guy. He accidentally runs into the X-Men fighting and though his point of view you actually see the X-Men (mutants) as bad guys. Stuff like that.

I really liked it, but I still prefer Kingdom Come.

Just download Marvels to see if I remembered it correctly, and I did... it's kind of a 1st person story by a reporter named Phil. It has 4 books, the first one is the start of it all, with the original Human Torch, the Submariner, Captain America and the rest during world war 2. I'm gonna read the 2nd book now, it's about the X-Men and mutants in general. The 3rd one is about Galactus. The 4rd on is basically about Spider-man and his bad publicity.

The whole story in general is Phil just trying to report, but all his eye-witnesses are biased and unreliable simply because they're afraid...

I'm gonna have to change my vote to Marvels ;)

If it has to be one of those two, pick Marvels. Kingdom Come is one of the most overrated comics I've ever read. It's mediocre at best.

Both great books. You need to read both so flip a coin to see which one to buy first and then when you get more money buy the other one. But whatever you do Don't buy The Kingdom, the sequel to Kingdom Come, it was by far the worst comic I've ever read. The only amusing thing about the copy of The Kingdom I got was I bought it used at the local comicshop and the guy who sold it back to the comicshop was some bible loving freak and he actually took a black marker and crossed out any "swear words" in the book including "hell" and "damn". When I showed the comicshop owner he gave me a new uncensored copy.

I would have to say Marvels, but I'm kind of on an Anti-Alex Ross faze now, mainly because he refuses to draw/paint GL Kyle and GL John and rather stay with the shallow Hal Jordon character.

sorry for ranting... lol:D
