hello everyone.
i will be applying to college in 2 days and this is going to go in my portfolio.
i had a high contrast already, but i used sharpie and it looked like crap.
so i decided to do a new version.
scratchboard!!!
if you cant tell from the pics, it starts off black, and you have to scrape it off, to reveal white.
anyway, i like the outcome.
obviously a self portrait.

You deserve a hearty hit on the wrist. As for the art I really like it. Neat look. Makes me wanna try it....is it fun? Oh...what do you use? Besides the scratchboard...

no its not napoleon, its a self portrait.
and *sigh* the neck turned out fatter then i hoped. oh well.
ive got a pretty big neck though...but def. not that big.

You deserve a hearty hit on the wrist. As for the art I really like it. Neat look. Makes me wanna try it....is it fun? Oh...what do you use? Besides the scratchboard...

its fun but VERY VERY tedious. it takes A LOT of scrapes to get that black on white look. but scratchboard is a super cool medium and you can get some great value using it.

i can use almost all 2-D mediums pretty well. i prefer pen and ink, acrylic paints, and watercolors though.

what do you use to scrape off the black?
