From Cathy Angus! :p
was alarmed by this email I recently recieved, how dare he call himself a Christian when he worships these blasphemous action figures that do nothing but replace Crucifixes in homes: Worshipping false Gods is a sin.

I would truly appreciate it if you could post this next to or under your
list of the "Top 5 Most Dangerous Companies in Society"
I am both a Christian and an avid collector of action figures. The
majority of them are made by the toy division of Todd McFarlane
Productions. I've gone to church, I've was an altar server for over 8
years, I give back to the church, I've done hundreds of hours of
community service a year. I also know that God gave us free will and am
a strong proponent that what I make of my life is what I make of it and
that God will judge me accordingly when it's all over. He does not
bless me with health, or wealth or strike me down for sinning... instead
he strengthens my heart and resolve through prayer and meditation.
If you know anything about the company you so energetically defame,
which it is clear you do not, then you know it was formed on basis of a
comic book known as Spawn. This book depicts the actions of a soldier
who was killed by his co-workers and made a deal with the devil in order
to come back to see his wife again. His death was actually
orchestrated by "The Devil" who influenced his assasination to occur in
order to cull his soul for his army. He became a warrior for hell and
was sent back to earth burned, disfigured and 5 years after his wife had
remarried. He quickly learned how wrong his decision was and since
then has saved the world on multiple occasions, fought back countless
hordes of demons, slain "the Devil", was given a pardon of his sins by
Heaven, took the throne of hell himself in order to remold it into an
Eden and extinguish evil before he was betrayed by his own mentor who
turns out to be Cain himself, and in the upcoming days he will fight to
stop a f!
allen angel from taking the Throne of Creation and remaking the
universe as he sees fit.
There has never really been any demon-worship occuring, well except that
one character, but he got sent straight to hell. The overwhelming
consensus is that Hell is bad, but there have been underlying questions
about exactly what is the nature of Heaven, of God, etc. Additionally,
none of this is even meant to be confused as fact nor does it claim to
be a way of belief. It was from the beginning and continues to be a
work of fiction and of fantasy.
The action figures themselves are based on the comics. There are
additional lines, such as the infamous Clive Barker lines which push the
boundaries of good taste. That doesn't make them intrinsically evil,
it's just something that appeals to the macabre and the occult. Those
facinations have always been with us. They are present in every great
society throughout the history of time and to view ours as being
different is more than just a narrow view. It borderlines on pure
ignorance.
You nephew has every right to buy these action figures. You have no
right to destroy them or censor his rights. If you were my aunt, and
you chose to come into my home and dispose my heavy metal music, my
comic books and my action figures, I would most definately press my
mother to file criminal theft and vandalism charges against you as well
as file with a civil suit against you to recover the damages.
Your actions are not only out of line, but so far to the conservative
extreme that it sickens me to call myself a caring Christian knowing
that you are somehow linked to me. Your fanatacism is completely
misguided. I do not condemn your beliefs, however your actions are the
very essence of what is wrong with society.
Grow up and stop being such a hateful person, wasting your life
condemning others instead of making sure they get to heaven. You have no
way of truly knowing if what you're doing will grant you access.
If you don't like my words, bite your tongue and deal with it. Your
right to express your thoughts carries with it the responsibility to
deal with the criticism.
