It was Vaughan Winterfest; of course it wasn't a Frozen Pond event. We helped them get a player - that's it.

Chris - the handler was not my employee. He was not following my directions and I did not control him. It was his event and he was free to do as he pleased. I was there to look out for Jonas, which I did, as he had a great time meeting everyone. Please keep in mind that this was a FREE event targeted towards children.

I can definitely say that I saw Jonas use several colours of Sharpie.

If you want to be angry, let's properly direct our emotions. Did you at any time hear me refuse or limit any customer requests? So why am I guilty by association?

Ryan Miller - who had me pick him up at 8:00 a.m. so he could at least dedicate some time to his fans when his appearance was severely limited (2 hours down to 35 minutes) because Lindy Ruff called a "punishment" practice during his scheduled signing time? Yeah - that's a fair comparison. I guess him not showing at all would have been better.

I was on stage for the entire length of the signing? That's interesting - I wasn't aware that I was. Nor did I ever comment on the quality of the event. I only remember saying that maybe you shouldn't be blaming someone who had nothing to do with your anger.

Chris - we always try our best to make things go well. But I really had nothing to do with the events that caused your frustration. If I did, I would most definitely be addressing them. If you would like to talk, please feel free to call me tomorrow at the Pond.

Cool...you got your 8x10 signed. I was shot down and so was the person in front of me. I couldn't believe it. If you we're signing pucks, sticks, and jerseys why would you not allow 8x10's? Didn't make any sense to me. I really don't think it was Jonas's call.He would would have signed it. I'm fairly certain it was the doing of the handler beside him. He's a tool . I've seen him before. He runs the big annual Comic Expo at the Convention Centre. For him it all about the money.

That's what I've learned from experience. When it's free autograph at a event geared toward children, you might not get what you want. Instead of wasting all that time just to get something I wont be happy with, I'd rather spend the money to get a signature at Frozen Pond or Aj's, etc.

And I agree, H when his McFarlane figure is out, bring him back and "they will come."

I've already had the pleasure of meeting him while helping out FROZEN POND during the Back to Back reunion last year. I actually got to meet most of the '92 & '93 Jays! I got Todd to sign my jersey but would like to get him on a ball and a couple of cards. Eventually the Jays will bring him in for an alumni/flashback Friday weekend.

My Vaughn Winterfest experience went much better than that, my issues were with Vaughn, not FP or Jonas.
I asked 4 volunteers with BIG buttons on that said 'ASK ME!' on them, & not a single one could tell me where the signing was to take place.
I found it by total fluke.
The doors entering the building were absolutely crammed, I've been in less violent mosh pits than that mess yesterday.
The Police were getting worried about fire codes & such.
The childrens author signing books went about 45 minutes to an hour into overtime. Looked like the demand for his 'graph was WAY underestimated.
When Jonas showed up, he had a bite to eat, & had to take pictures with Police Officers & other bigwigs before anybody was allowed in.
I was in the first group & got my 8x10 signed, which was one of my personal pics, not a store bought 8x10, & when he signed the guy ahead of me's jersey with a silver sharpie, I guessed it would've been dry, but I had mine out & ready, so I said "I bet that one's dry, here's a fresh one!" & he gladly took mine & signed my project...

Of course, I had to ask if I could get an unsigned 5x7, but was turned down. I was so tired & hungry, I just considered myself lucky to get out of there alive.
I got him on a puck last week, with 'monster' inscription so I'm happy.
It was either this or ice fishing, & this won.
It is what it is...a free public signing with LOTS of screaming kids.

Hey guys, here's a question about getting your bases signed.

I've recently got out the bases from my Roberts & Cujo figures to get signed next month, & I noticed they're a little different then my Gilmour, Sittler, Bower & Kaberle.
The Roberts & Cujo bases have a sticker on them, whereas the others don't.
I'm guessing it's something that's changed in recent years, because the 2 are older then the other 4.
Did they change it because the stickers eventually peel?

I have the signed Roberts Leafs base and sticker is not even close to peeling off. They stay on pretty good. I know some people just prefer the non-sticker bases cause they think the sticker base looks "cheesy" :D

Um Not a good year for London they lost all there good ones last year. Carlson, DelZotto, Tavares, McCrae, Cann. The best one would be Kadri. There in first place in there division tho. I got Scott Harrington on a puck last signing. He looks like a good one for next years draft. There website is down so I cant really look now. I know the goalie Michael Hutchinson was drafted by I think Boston. Jared Knight is projected to go in round 2 this year. A few of them attended training camps last year but didnt get signed. I printed a Knights logo and had the whole team sign it last signing and got Kadri on a few pics.

Feb. 10 had a snowy start to it, but it was worth the added traffic aggravation...First I had Coach Wilson sign an 8x10 I took the morning of Phaneuf & Giggy's first practice...

Yeah Van Ryn and Grabovski was skating and shooting an hour before the leafs came on the ice. He still had a slight limp but it looked ok when he skated. Grabovski said he will be back after the Olympics

I put all of mine 8x10s in toploaders and then in a mini paper box (may change since they may damage the photos). The mini paper box is the ones that printer paper is put into. They are 8.5x11 so the toploaders fit in perfectly.

Just a little update on this. I purchase Van Ryn and Tlusty game used gloves at the Leafs sale back in May/09. I could have gotten Blake too but I thought to myself "WHY". As you know, Tlusty is gone and Van Ryn got hurt. So I was out of luck. When someone (Mr. Nascarfan) informed me that Van Ryn was at the rink, I took off at work to try and get him. He was very nice. I even told him I had him in my roty pool this year. He laughed and said "Sorry to disappoint you". I wish him the best and thank him for his autos.

I had the Ebay guys looking at them asking me if I was listing the gloves right away.

Hey Satanman, are you sure you want to go this route. I got autos in my son's room and in the basement. It is driving my wife crazy.

BTW, if I do have to get rid of these gloves, they are yours Nascar.

Also THANKS Nascarfan for letting me know he was at the rink. It makes up for Thornton not signing my jersey because he was late for the bus.

I put my 8x10s in toploaders (more expensive) because I want more protection. The cardboard with the sleeve in binders is a good idea too.

A guy on eBay, from somewhere in Michigan if I remember. I ordered a Palmateer, Sittler, Vaive, Salming & had him do a custom Iafrate for me.
I slide one into the plactic cover of a 1/2" binder from Staples, & each corresponding 8x10 has that players cards inside.
Helps keep things organized.
Sadly, I was asleep at the wheel & forgot to get Vaive to sign his 8x10. I was so focused on getting the puck done, I just simply forgot to get my binder out.
Well, that, & I'm so used to "one only!", I was like a deer in the headlights when all the guys were chatty, & willing to sign multiple items.
Oh well, I'll get him next time. I'll see if I can find the guy's eBay store. I'll PM you if I do, but it's been a while, 3 years maybe.

For Giguere/Orr, you dont have to purchase anything. They did one of these All Access events with The Monster/Exelby back in November. They basically talk about themselves, answer questions from the fans at the store, then do an autograph session after. Its a strict 1 per player and its very rushed, no inscriptions, no pictures with the players, etc. But for free, cant go wrong :D

Because I can't post for some odd reason just to let you guys know and you can post it on here that you do need a wristband at the centresports signing. I called them for the Bosh signing and told me its just a first come first serve but when I arrived they told me everyone is welcome to see the q&a but only those with bands can get autos. With Bosh if time was left over then they'll let a group of 10 in and then maybe another 10 if there's enough time. Not sure about this one but its possible.

I heard someone went at 9:30am and they srill had lots of bands left so maybe when it opens at 10 just get the band if needed and then spend a few hours in the city and just come back at 2. Like I said everyone went in for q&a and those with bands stayed inside and then a new line formed outside and only 20 non banded people got in after. It was a mess so be prepared.

Good luck finding one of the McFarlane nets. I've been on a hunt of sorts, & was able to track one down at the Courtice Flea market.
Unfortunately, it was the 'Classic' version, not the modern version, which is what I'd get Giggy to sign.
If anyone still interested, I left the Classic Net in Courtice, yours for only $8.00.
TradingTerry at the Pickering Flea Market still has the Ducks version Giguere, $20 for dark jersey, $15 for white jersey.
If you go that route, do yourself a favour & peel off the stupid sticker, as they end up bubbling off anyway, WITH your autograph....:eek:
TradingTerry also has the NHLPA version of Cujo for $20.
Figure is blue/white, #31, & Terry has these little decals that easily turn the NHLPA Cujo into a Leafs Cujo. You only need a little glue to ensure the Leaf decals adhere. That's what I did, looks great!
He also has the Leafs Cujo, no customizing involved, but it's $100.

The Windsor players were all in a good mood today as I made the journey down the "Highway To Hall" at Johnny Shotz's in Tecumseh. I got Hall on 3 different pics and Ryan Ellis on a pic and puck. And I got Taylor Hall, Greg Nemisz, Adam Henrique, Cam Fowler, Ryan Ellis, Craig Duininck, Stephen Johnston, and Mark Cantin on a Spits logo pic. They had the 5 WJC players signing tonight and 3 extra guys were there just hanging around. Also former Leaf and Windsor assistant coach D.J. Smith was there too watching the US/Canada hockey game. I was gonna go to Barrie last night too but figured something can go wrong and they wont sign as they get on the bus and with the sit down signing im guaranteed autos and I can get as many as I need (I usually limit it to 2 but I had a friend got 8 of Hall with no problem) I also missed Barrie Colts today after there game in Brampton but they got one more game there to get them.

Interesting note that Brodeur got taken out of NHL 25 and no goalie is in that series as of yet. There hasn't been a "official" lineup news story yet for this series but my guess is Giggy will be in. If not NHL 25, I am sure NHL 26 or NHL 27 will have him.

Just an FYI guys...I stopped in at AJ's on Monday afternoon & picked up a McFarlane 'modern' net (thanks bigcheez-AGAIN!) & as far as I could tell, I grabbed the last one.
There's still about a dozen 'classic' nets, but the guy I spoke to said he wasn't getting anymore of either in.
Not saying he won't, but didn't think so.

See as there may be a Leafs Giggy in the future, & these are hard to come by, I might just hold onto the net for now, & get him on a puck.

tragically fish, here's what I can tell you from the limited experience I have with this type of game.
I went to the Leafs/Red Wings Alumni game 2 years ago, at Ricoh Coliseum.
There was quite the lineup scheduled, as well as a post game autograph session.
I was fairly new to the autograph stuff, but I knew enough to go armed with a knapsack full of pucks....:p
Anyways, I was flying solo & for $10, I got a seat right behind the Leafs bench. I wish I had my new camera back then.

It was fun to watch these guys play, Zezel & Marcel Dionne could still fly.
Afterwards, it was chaos trying to figure out where to go for the autograph session. Almost a ful-blown melee!
It seemed Ricoh staff hadn't figured on the demand, but once a line was formulated, it also had a cutoff point, of which I was in front of.
That was the good news for me. The bad news was, because of the throng of fans, no pucks or other items were to be signed, just the free handout. I quickly realized I was going to need 2 of these 11x17 posters.
All the players were sitting behind tables & we were herded like cattle being led to slaughter. Idle chit-chat with the players was discouraged, only to keep the line moving.
So, I did sneak in a puck for Johnny Bower, but all the rest were on the 11x17's, except Rick Vaive & Dan Daoust. Vaive had hurt his back, & I'm not sure why Daoust skipped the session.

Nice pics, a few of the Wings ones are tough to get ttm.

I've been to this type of thing a couple of times before, the guys are pretty accomodating usually. Although ex-Jet tough guy Jimmy Mann has a reputation as being very difficult and quite nasty with autograph seekers.

I'm going to go before the game and see who I can get, I doubt I'm staying for the game as the Canada-Russia game will be at the same time.

A huge thank you goes to my buddy Ron who is a hound in Tampa. He sent me these items which he aquired for me during the first half of the season....can't wait to see what the second half brings......

He tells me that hounding down there is as simple as placing yourself between the hotel exit and the entrance to the arena which is directly accross the street. Players just walk across the street and for the most part are very accomandating. You just have to be willing to stand in the sunlight and put up with the smell of the Ocean and coconut sunscreen:cool:

Hes way more mellower than last years #1 pick. Alot more nicer and signed all you had and didnt sign black on black. I try to limit things to 2 per player but him I got 4 and my bud got 8 of him. He's like Schenn if he trusts you then you get a #4 on the auto if he dont you get no #

Many thanks to Nascarfan12 for getting me Phaneuf today after practice (I have tried on three separete occasions and missed him, or he was picked up at the door). It only cost me an auto'd 8x10 of Sid the Kid:p

I see he is now back to his old signing ways. A fellow board member (who hounds in Calgary) told me that when he was in Calgary he signed everything in black that he was handed on the street (even carried his own black sharpie). If it was a sit down signing he would sign in blue. That way he could tell if the stuff on ebay was stuff he was signing on the street......but I don't care black or blue, I'll never complain, Its a great auto by Dion standards....some of them are real scribbles

Kessel signs Al your just not female or a kid then he would sign for you unless the moment is right for him to sign (like when your the only one there). Ive got him 4 times you have to catch him at the right moment. I heard Dion didn't sign today and Giggy got picked up at the door and there was only 4 people there waiting. There was 4 of us yesterday too and they all signed for us.

I know a hound has tried 9 times for Kessel and all 9 Kessel said nope. His wife went up to him one time and got 2 autos from him.
