We're also firming up our schedule for the remainder of the summer, and I see at least three more HOFers in our future, plus one wrestling great and maybe a Blue Jay or two? Let us know who interests you, and we'll see what we can do!

Wrestling great... Could it be: "The best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be" ? ? ? ? ?

Current or Jays alumni ??

Wow, cournoyer has been around alot.. He was at the Last expo, and Milton Toyota the same weekend . He was also at Framed Memories a few weeks ago and did the montreal show with Aj;s last week through drop off.

I won't give out any hints on any future signers, other than to say the Jays would be current.

As for Cournoyer, he has signed quite a bit recently, but we have a fairly large core of collectors who will wait for us because we're generally cheaper, especially if you have multiple pieces to get done. Also, most of the people in the Barrie area wouldn't have driven to Cambridge to get him.

My philosophy is basically this -- I'll bring anyone in as long as I know 2/3rds of my cost are covered before we hit the public signing. That's also how we can keep the prices pretty low.

Now, suggestions! Here's a few people thrown out to me recently -- your thoughts?

Les Binkley
Marty Pavelich
Marcel Dionne

Current Jays, nice!

Suggestions for guests:
Bert Olmstead
Bret Hart
Dave Keon (he's in northern Ontario every summer)
Mick Foley (would be a good draw for the wrestling fans in Barrie)
Larry Keenan (former Leaf)
Dave Andreychuck
Keith Primeau
John LeClair

Not last summer thats for sure, mabye the summer before that one (05) or prior. So whats that 2 years? Not recent if you ask me.

He shoudl be due in 2007, plus he is getting up their in age.

I spoke with Ted M. at the 1967 Leafs show over the weekend, and he and I will talk later this summer if you guys want him in. He'd be $25 for sure, though, and we'd have to have a fair number of preorders to book it.

I'll check into Lindsay, although I know he's more than Yvan.

Ted M, or Frank M? Ted Lindsey was charging $20 or so in Michigan I think. I think my max on him would be $30, for 2-3 graphs.

It does with Sittler at Untouchables, but with them at Aj's people now have options.

I stopped by Untouchables on my way home from work, all their supplies were cheap. I bought 16x20 top loaders for 2.95 each, they are usually $5.

They said they are working on Johnny Bower next, and are aiming for one guy a month. Hopefully they do there research on who what guests will attract the most people etc.

I was talking about Ted Lindsay. He may have been $20 in Detroit, but remember 1) that's US funds and 2) they didn't have to pay travel expenses for him. I'll start beating the bushes to get an idea about preorders for him, but I'm guessing he'd be $25-30CDN, and I prefer to keep it at $25 or less if I can. I'll also work on Pavelich.

As for the others:

Dave Andreychuk -- never thought about it, but I'll do some checking
Keith Primeau and John LeClair -- I doubt we'd do any preorders for those guys
Larry Keenan -- I'll ask around
Bret Hart -- looking into it
Dave Keon -- not a chance
Mick Foley -- was just in town for free at the Marlies game, but man, would I love to have dinner with him after the signing!

Hey Wayne

Some players I feel will do well, with pre orders

1. Dennis Hull, played in 72 summit series, lots of people with those pieces, played for Chicago, lots of the collectors in the hobby have Chicago stuff to get signed.

2. Ted Lindsey, hasnt had an appearance in years, and is always popular, lives in Michigan

3. Bill Gadsby, been over two or three, years is getting up there in age, seems to have decent prices, also lives in MIchigan, and still promoting is new book

4. Elmer Lach - one of the oldest living hall of famers, Original six hab,

5. Charlie Hodge, was at the expo in 2005, missed him, original six hab, goalies always seem to do well.

6. Todd Gill, - Long time leaf, was reasonobly good, cant remember him ever having an auto appearance.

7. George Chuvalo- Boxing lovers, Canada's greastest boxer ever, Canadian icon, most people at signign evens, agree they would love to have him do a signing, Lives in Etobicoke,

Then don't. Ha!

Just kidding. Domi's fee right now would force me to charge at least $35-40 per autograph, and there's no way I'll get any kind of pre-orders for him. Right now, he's dead in every store I know.

Jays, Hull will be around later this summer, so I'll find out about bringing him in. I'll also check on the rest of your list. Out of your guys, I'd love to have Chuvalo, but he does a lot of signing for Frameworth, so again, almost no preorders on him.

I also spoke with Dave Schultz this morning, but that's not going to happen so close to Harvey and Andrew having him down at the Expo.

George would be a guy I would love to meet. The Frameworth prices are expensive, for photos that are already framed. Most collectors dont buy from Frameworth and prefer grabbing the auto's themselves.

For a guy who lives in the GTA, im surprised he never has any appearances.

Guys, just an update on Yvan Cournoyer -- we're also expecting 8-10 dealers in the mall for the show, and we will have several different photos on hand, along with pucks and all the appropriate supplies.

Another topic -- I've been tossing out names to you for something I've been considering doing, which is a two-day in the Toronto area in July. I'm currently researching player costs, making contacts, testing the waters for pre-orders, etc., and I'll let you know more as I know more. I have a short list of 15 guys in five or six different combinations I'm mulling over, including an all-goalie show and another different speciality show. I'm also working really hard to try and bring in someone who hasn't done a show in a long while, but we'll see how that goes.

My question is -- are there any current Leafs/Marlies, Raptors or Blue Jays who aren't front-line guys that really interest you? I'm not talking Tucker or Bosh or Burnett. I'm talking less expensive guys that wouldn't cost an arm or leg and I could do cheap to just add to a possible current roster.

How about Ian Turnbull. Best offensive defenseman during his tenure for the leafs. He only made on appearance in the last 5 years or so, and it was before a lot of us even knew AJ's existed.

I imagine there is a lot of new collectors or old, who have leaf pieces they would like Ian Turnbull to sign.

I know McCabe would cost an 'arm and a leg' but I'd have to believe he would do well for you..

I'm not sure he would. I've sold a grand total of one McCabe in the store this season, with no jerseys. He's not popular right now, and his fee is pretty steep.

Turnbull ... anyone know where he lives?

I'm thinking more in line with a John Pohl or Ian White, solid young guys who aren't too expensive and should be around a while.

I just picked up the Heroes N' Legends flyer. If I hear a date, I'll pass it along.

The two-day show is moving along. I think we're going to go all goalies (unless we can add a local player or two), and I think we'll have several of the guys that have been mentioned here. We're also looking into having a limited piece done with all six signers which would be part of a dinner package for the Friday night before the show. The dinner would be limited to 50 people, with all guests appearing. Nothing too fancy, just a chance to sit and talk with the players and enjoy some really good food.

We'll also have a special rate for anyone planning to stay overnight in the hotel, giveaways during the show and a Superticket for all six guests.

For anyone going to the Jays picnic, I found a seller on ebay that has a dozen official Rawlings MLB baseballs for $109.99US and charges $15US for shipping to Canada.
So, it's $125US, which is about $145 Canadian, or $12.08C per baseball.

DETROIT -- Thursday afternoon's Blue Jays game against the Tigers has been postponed due to poor weather conditions. Temperatures in Detroit dipped below freezing and the forecast called for snow.
The contest was rescheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET on Sept. 10, when Toronto and Detroit previously shared an off-day. The only other season series between the clubs is a four-game set on April 12-15 in Toronto.

As a result of the postponement, the Jays had to shift the pitching rotation around. Left-hander Gustavo Chacin, who was scheduled to take the mound on Thursday, will start on Friday in the opener of a three-game road series against Tampa Bay. Right-handers Tomo Ohka and Roy Halladay will start against the Devil Rays on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

After the weekend set in Florida, Toronto will kick off its first homestand with a three-game series against Kansas City. Jays right-hander A.J. Burnett will start in the home opener on Monday, followed by righty Josh Towers on Tuesday and Chacin on Wednesday.

My thoughts exactly :( All because it was too cold in Detroit... come on! Football players play in worse temperatures. If that game was up here at Exhibition Stadium it would have been played.

Well, there are 24 other Blue Jays going to be there. I know this was the best chance to meet Doc, but I'm sure there will be other events.

Pierre Pilote and Norm Ullman signing $10 each

Saturday April 21 2:30-4:30pm Iroquis Park Arena (Whitby) , brought to you by Hammertime Sports. 905-428-2370 E:hammertimesports@rogers.com

Saturday May 12th, Jonny Bower and several other members of the 1967 team at Hammertime.

I would say as long as Hammertime has these $10 signings for these Hall of Famers, they should continue to have decent crowds. A lot of these older collectors, keep coming back with different books and pieces to get signed all the time.

With Allan Stanley skipping out on the 1967 dinner, if he shows up at Hammertime, alot of people may go to finnish their pieces from the 67 show. Allan Stanley seems to be there every few months, at $10.

Guys, just an update on the all-goalie show I mentioned last week:

Things are progressing nicely, and I think we'll be able to announce everything by the end of this week. Five of the six guests have confirmed (all six are Vezina winners), we have a good number of dealers lined already and the space is already reserved for mid-July.

As always, though, I don't like to make an official announcement until all the t's are blah blah blah, but I think we're 90% go at this point.

We're also still planning our special dinner for the Friday night before the show. Limited to 50 guests, prime rib or buffet (haven't decided yet) and a chance to meet and greet the players, plus a limited-to-99 framed and matted special piece. Cost will be $249 per person, and we already have 15-20 of the slots filled if its a go.

They'll also be some other surprises, but more on that later.

Thanks, and don't forget -- Yvon Cournoyer on the 21st!

In other news, sucks about Halladay, but you guys will have a blast, I'm sure. If anyone has an extra ticket at the last minute, let me know!

Is anyone going to the baseball Maple Leafs dinner? I'm planning on it, if I can get out of the Expo fast enough to make it down there.

No clues on the 5 confirmed guests Wayne? Will the show be in the GTA or up in Barrie?

I'm going to the Maple Leafs dinner, last year was a blast. I think Vida Blue maybe appearing, as he will be a guest at the expo with Fergie Jenkins.

Jays, no clues? C'mon ... all Vezina winners? That's a big clue! You have to narrow it down for yourself!

If you're going down for the dinner, maybe we can hook up and sit at the same table? Do they allow you to get autos from the guests?

Here's my guess. 1. Dennis DeJordy 2.Johnny Bower, 3. Charlie Hodge, 4. Eddie Giacomin 5. Tony Esposito 6. Billy Smith

Sure, they have an autograph session after the dinner/questions and answers. Fergie Jenkins foundation usually sells 8x10's at the show to get signed.Alot of greedy hounders are always at the front of the autograph line though. They usually hold up the line for a while, with too many requests. The dinner usually sells out, but they do keep a few spots open for people who show up at the time of the show.

Looks like a good guess John. Smith will be in the area anyway for a golf tournament. Hall also won and has not done a public signing in years. Parent is also a possibility.

I heard Glen Hall doesnt fly, so that's the problem with him. Someone told me Aj's may do another private signing with him this year. I would not mind getting Giacomin, I missed him at the expo a year ago.

I hope there is an apportunity to get some multiple graphs from players at the BBQ Friday. Lets keep our fingers crossed on Halladay still showing up! I'm taking the day off work for this thing!

I think the Jays will be strict with the amount of autographs you can get. It sounds like they have an area for autographs and then a dining area. They will for sure have a ton of staff in each area to make sure people are only getting 1 autograph each and getting no autographs in the dining area. I'm sure we'll all get reminded again down there.. only 1 each, etc... But never hurts to ask or try for another.

I had a sample jersey that I got a few years ago, a darker grey colour, but the MLB authentic.
I had it done at the Rogers Centre, since I get a discount at the store.

Jays BBQ was a really good event. Sure they started 30mins after the girl said they would start at 10:55am.

Mike, didn't get too much of a chance to talk, just the couple of times we ran into eachother going into lineups. When you saw me earlier we were just rushing to go get the Johnson bobbleheads, plenty of space for him to sign but he was at the doctors.

Here's how we attacked the lines:
1- Zambrano/Rios/AJ/Towers
2- Hill & MacDonald *was photos only at first*
3- Ryan/ Overbay/ Downs/ Frasor
4- Vernon Wells
5- Thomas/Smith/Chacin
6- Jansen/ (Zaun got up and left)/ Ohka/ Phillips
7- Wells & Marcum
8- JP Riccardi

Was going to try for the coaches/announcers afterwards. But they had disappeared. Any word on which players were serving food? (Stairs, Accardo, Clayton) (Glaus, Johnson @ doctors)

Some random notes of things:
- when I gave the 8x10 I have of Burnett to be signed, he showed it to Towers and said: "Dude, look I'm throwing a curveball... look at my elbow it looks messed... Dude, I look pissed".
- when I gave Towers the 8x10 of Rogers Centre, Josh: "That better be me pitching on the mound".
- Me: "Lyle, your commercial is the greatest ever.. I crack up like crazy every time I see it".
Lyle: "Thanks. *smiles*..."
BJ Ryan: "I haven't even seen this commercial yet"..
Me: "When's your commercial coming out?"..
BJ: "Oh, I don't think I'm going to do one" (and gave me a look like he doesn't want to do one).
BJ: "Look at the angry look on that guy's face" *looking at the the 8x10 photo of Overbay and laughing*
- Vernon Wells... was like a robot..
"Hi Vernon"
V-Dub: "Hi, how are you?" *signs photo*
"Pretty good, how are you?"
V-Dub "Pretty good"
"Thanks"
V-Dub "Your welcome".
- Frank Thomas was very approachable and genuinely excited to meet the fans. There were some kids from Variety Village infront of me and he was great with them. Joking and making them all smile.
- Jason Smith... looked angry... Maybe because I called him Mike? haha
- Tomo Ohka said nothing at all
- Jason Phillips was great like Thomas. Phillips' signature probably was the best one of all the Jays.

AND...We forgot to do a bet....... Greasy, slimey, hook-nose was there!

Guys, just a reminder that the Yvan Cournoyer signing is this Saturday at the Kozlov Centre. Mr. Cournoyer will be signing from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, April 21. Autographs are $20 each. Loose jersey numbers are $30 each. 8×10 photos, pucks and supplies will be available for purchase.

A three-day card show will also be held from April 19-21 in the Kozlov Centre. Dealer space is available at the phenomenal price of *$100* for 24 feet of space for the three days! Contact us for more information!

Mail order pricing for Mr. Cournoyer will be $32CDN per piece (our photo) plus shipping and handling, which is $3CDN for up to five cards and $6CDN for up to five 8×10 photos. Email or call us for pricing on larger orders or larger items, including a 25% discount on pre-orders of 10 pieces or more. We will also hold a pre-signing for those with 10 or more pieces before the public signing.

The goalie show is almost a go -- just finalizing everything. I should have an annoucement by early next week with location, guests, costs, dealer info and our special dinner package!

I was going to but was lost in the Allison area with my old man looking for a river/pond that is supposed to have a fish ladder. Don't ask  My buddy Rick, aka Viper160, went and this was in his email to me today:

"Not much of a turnout today....spent about 15 minutes talking with Yvon about the state of the game. I tell you, those players from the Habs during that period are true gentlemen........he thanked me 3 times for coming out."

Bumped into Darryl Sittler this evening (thanks to Viper601 for the tip). He was at a Ford dealership today from 4 to 7 (the same Ford dealership he was at a few weeks ago). When I went to his appearance a few weeks ago I took my 2 year old son who made such a scene that he remembered me when I went back an hour later to get him to add his HOF to something. So this time I enlisted the help from my brother and his girlfriend.

I scored a legends figure from The Ice Box yesterday. Thanks Wayne. Since I had just had him sign a base at AJ's, I asked my brother to handle the base for me. There was no line and one person in front of us. Darryl signed a card for me and gave me a 4 x 6 photo. He signed the base for my brother, including his HHOF without my brother even asking. He then asked my brother "Boy these things are popular. How many of them do you have?" To which my brother replied "a few." I guess you have to know my brother to find the humor in this. My brother, while being a hockey fan, does not have one piece of sports memorbilia in his possesion. He was ver thankful that Sittler did not ask him who else he had.

So all that said and done, I have an extra autographed Sittler figure for trade if anyone is interested.

Yep, still an awesome signing. It is only one autograph per person, If i had my wish i would walk away with at least 5 autographs from him.

Is it more than one autograph at the GM signings this year? They got a bit strict last year at some of them.

Any way there could be some sort of list in this thread with the upcoming appearances? Some get bumped and a lot of pages to sort through in here.

The sixth guest for the Vezina Show is indeed Bernie Parent. He'll be signing Saturday, July 14, from 1-3 p.m. Cost of most pieces will be $20CDN, with loose numbers priced at $30CDN.

All the info is now up on www.hittheicebox.com, and preorder forms will be up on Wednesday. We are almost completely booked up for dealers after handing out more than 500 flyers at the Canadian SportCard Expo this weekend.

If you guys would like me to add a running GTA autograph list to www.hittheicebox.com, I could do that. I don't really have much of a problem with advertising for everyone else in the GTA, as I love them all so much. :)

Also, I don't know if you all know it, but there's a chat function on my web site. If you ever need somewhere to hook up to make plans to carpool to signings or just chew the rag, feel free to use IceBox Chat -- just keep the profanity to a low roar if possible.

So....
I did a quick calculation of the charges for the guests and it would be $115 for all 6 autos.

If I were to get a puck signed by each of them (sent to you, with each in a protector), would I be charged a $5 service fee for each one, or total? (not including shipping back to Toronto)

Middle of the summer trips to Brampton are not easy, as we always have a million things going on, but I am VERY interested in getting these.

Wellwood and Stajan at Future Shop...

I saw on the FP thread ppl heard they are gonna be there this Saturday May12th but missed the location. So I emailed them and this is what I got back:

Hi!
First, thanks for listening to 104.5 chumfm!
The Future Shop ad is the new one in Erin Mills.. the grand opening is this Fri/Sat/Sun
Spot doesn't say when Matt and Kyle will be there - just that they will be - it also
directs you to check out their flyer for all the details.
I would think that their website would have what you need too if you can't get your
hands on a flyer.

Again, thanks for listening!

So the date and location is known, now we need the time :p

Chris

Nope, the $5 service fee covers your entire order.

The Spring Expo went very well for us. We sold/consigned all of our sticks to Classic Collectibles, and they will go up in the Fall Auction this year. We also had a lot of interest in our NHL practice-worn jerseys, and our raptors gamers are gone.

We handed out more then 500 flyers for the Vezina Show and people seemed very interested. The signings should be on Signings Hotline this week, and we'll have the preorder forms ready to fax out today or tomorrow, and available to download through our web site.

Oh, and I'm pulling down the chat page on my web site. The damn thing crashes every browser I've tried. I'll let you know when we have a new version up.

Thanks!
