Well, I guess those subversive hom0s and their brookback and their will and grace havent pussified the country after all! :D
Yeah, Rueben Studdard, Fantasia and Bo Bice all fit that description. Kelly Clarkson isn't in that category either. Point dismissed.
The rest of that is pure babble. You know not of what you speak.
I new this girl had the pipes to win. No way in hell you can say she can't sing.

Do you already know something we don't?
Katharine SHOULD win as she's a more talented singer (and that's a "qualified" opinion) but I have a feeling it's going to be Taylor. If he does win he also loses because he won't be getting my money from his record. And all you guys who want him to win will have to go out and spend $16 on a CD filled with mediocre, rushed songwriting.
I think Carrie Underpants will be passing the AI torch to the winner.

If Katherine wins, you and the other 10 people can have her CD! The other 9 will be her dad buying them. She is an average female vocalist at best, up until the last 2 weeks she only appealed to the 60+ crowd and horny young men. Taylor is original, kind of sounds like Joe ****er or Micheal McDonald...which there is nothing out there like that right now. At least Taylor's single sounds radio friendly...if they put out Katherine's single she will be at fault for millions of car wrecks all over the country! She will put people to sleep at the wheel! If your in love with her look at pictures of her...don't make the rest of us suffer with mediocre sound! Top 3 should have been in no order Taylor, Chris, & Elliott.

With this statement you have solidified your ignorance regarding vocal "skill", which is what AI is about regardless of what America has turned it into. What qualifies you to give such a statement? I may have some, maybe I don't! I just stated how feel just as you did. Only I'm right, don't get me wrong she will have a great broadway career. But when it comes to the radio there will be no way she will last, Taylor on the other hand has a shot. Are you her uncle? Did you cry when she sang Over the rainbow? You did, didn't you? Taylor proved himself last night, all Katherine did was prove she could sing 2 songs over again and make her 1st single sound very sub-par. Randy said it was the song because he didn't want to hurt her feelings, and he's probably sick of her spoiled talking back "I didn't pick the song"!

I was totally ticked off when Chris was voted off, he was great on Elvis's Suspicious Minds...Kat severely over sang Can't Help Falling In Love, I already didn't like her at that point but there are certain songs you just don't touch unless you know you can, she shouldn't have done that song. Last night she sounded pretty good. But the time she sang Time of My Life with Taylor, I think his voice was starting to go a little last night. I was very happy with the Soul Patrol pulling through, honestly I don't think the voting was close. They made a big deal of how close it was in prior weeks, nothing was said last night. What was up with Mary J. Blige, is her ego that big that Elliott was only aloud to sing a little of the song. That really ticked me off! Especially with the build up of his mom announcing him!

Yeah, Chris was great on "Suspicious Minds", but he sounded like crap on "Little Less Conversation". It was very uninspired and boring.
Yeah, it seemed like Mary J Blige wanted her space on the stage. After she emerged Elliot didn't go near her until the very end of the song. Elliot rocks.
The one that cracked me up was Toni Braxton. She sounded terrible on her duet with Taylor. It seemed like at some points she got lost her place in the song or forgot the words. Taylor should have just sung that by himself. I didn't think anyone was going to perform crappier than Meatloaf, but Toni did it.
Man, Mandisa can really sing that Chaka Khan song. I forgot how much I like her voice. She should have definitely gone further in the competition, certainly further than Paris.

A few random comments:
I dont know what Model Mans credentials or qualifications are but if you think McPhee was superior to Hicks id like to have yours revoked. She definately has a problem staying in Key and has messed up on quite a few occasions. She'll be great for some Disney movie theme song but that's about it. She's hot as hell tho, no doubt.
Chris sounds like creed for gods sake, i about fell of my couch when he was singing with Live, little and large.
Blige exposed Elliot for the mediocer singer he is, her voice was way too powerfull for him.
On the other hand Taylor made Braxton look like an amateur. And when did Toni Braxton turn into a ****?
That Clay Aiken bit was funny as hell, i think i shat myself at one point.

No doubt, the guy spent years trying to get out from under the industries thumb and touted himself as a "slave." I was surprised to see him show up on the music slave machine show. He thought he had it bad these kids have to do every damn thing the Idol people say when they win without question.

How the hell did they get Prince to show up?
Prince has gone on record in the past saying he hated Idol, but I guess just like everyone else they get on the show, Prince needed the press to pump his new album. I thought it was hilarious that he walked off the stage before Seacrest even got near him to say thank you or anything. I figured that Prince just didn't want people to see how small he is, even smaller than the small Ryan Seacrest.
Just heard on the radio today that Dionne Warwick has a new duets album coming out, so that's why she was there.

Stop reading what isn't there. I do however hold some expertise in this area. I can't make you believe me. It's impossible to give proof over the internet. Wrong. Do they have non-qualified people as the judges? No. They have people who have been in the business, have seen and heard what works, and know what they're talking about. Now, if you were to ask Randy, Paula and Simon, individually and privately, who is a more vocally skilled singer, all three of them would say Katharine. Taylor winning does not prove he's a more skilled singer. It only proves that majority America likes HIM more. And he does seem like a great guy. I've nothing against him. I just stay focused on AI being a "singing talent" competition. And if you want to REALLY get technical, the very best singer of all the contestants was Mandisa.
dbrooks55
05-25-2006, 05:14 PM
What I was saying is they are unique singers, there is no one out there including them that sounds like that right now (Taylor). Katherine sounds like a bunch of female singers out there, not saying she isn't a good singer. You really can't sit here and say you have expertise with about backing it up. That's like me saying "Well I'm Michael Jordan, but I have no way to prove it"! C'mon and even if you do just because you have some kind of back ground doesn't make you know more than the next person. I may not be a musician but I do have alot of creativity and a huge interest in music, which in my mind makes me just as credible as you. When it come to performing which you should know by the way you talk, you don't have to be the best. You can have all the talent in the world and it may not mean anything, Having that "it" factor can be the difference. Taylor has the "it" factor, Kat doesn't.
Now if you want to look stupid and try to argue that, be my guest...

Keep in mind I made that prediction during Auditions! Katharine has much more upside and is 1000 times more marketable than Taylor. She just had the wrong songs picked for her. She should have stuck with tunes that showed off her strong points and not messed with crap like Hound Dog! Whoever was making her song picks needs to be slapped around. They cost her the title. No one took me up on that bet anyway!;)
JuniorMintz
05-25-2006, 08:51 PM
Actually, I'm pretty sure Katharine picked most of the songs herself... I know she's blaming Clive for that crummy R. Kelly song, but I *think* they get to pick the rest of their songs on their own... well, from the list they're provided, anyway.

I have no faith in Americans when it comes to voting for what is best versus what is popular. Every week I was like "Well this will be the week that the best guy gets sent home." but I was wrong.

I'd like to get even more technical and point out the fact that my post simply pointed out how I'm just as qualified as you are, and all it took was that bowl of Lucky Charms last week.
You're confusing personal taste, which is what your opinion is based on, with cold, hard fact, which is what I base my opinion on due to 34 years of being a musician, playing with other good musicians, subpar musicians, playing in many varied musical situations, listening to good singers, listening to bad singers, and then being able to tell the difference from good, bad, and great. Yes, that does qualifiy me more than your cereal. Sorry you can't handle that. I'm guessing I've been playing longer than you've been alive. Any truth to that?
I'm not knocking Taylor at all, he's pretty good and very entertaining. But when you COMPARE him to Kat VOCALLY, she is in a completely different league altogether. A much higher caliber of vocal skill.
If you don't believe this, then I challenge you to have a chef work on your car next time it needs repairs. Perhaps he can remove the hamburger from the carburetor.

I could be wrong though, who knows? :)
I do. You're wrong. Clive picked the song for her.

What I was saying is they are unique singers, there is no one out there including them that sounds like that right now (Taylor). Katherine sounds like a bunch of female singers out there, not saying she isn't a good singer. ...
Name one singer who sounds like Katharine.
On that same note, Chris sounds like EVERY alternative rock singer out there. Totally UNoriginal. He's good, but not original.

Perhaps someday that will be true...she totally has the potential for greatness...but right now she got up in front of America and totally blew it....and it was not just that one song so don't blame Clive for her failure like she is and just get over it.....millions of people think you are wrong about this.

She blew a lot of songs during the season. So did Taylor. A person's voice is often suited for a particular style of music and singing. She had strong and weak nights as did Taylor. I'm not blaming Clive for his song choice, she should've done better but that's that. Yeah, I'm over it. I'm sure she did her best with the amount of rehearsal she had and being completely unfamiliar with the song. THAT makes a huge difference with a singer's performance.
There's one word you left out in your last sentence there..."millions of UNQUALIFIED people think I'm wrong about that.":)

I'm not confusing anything.
I've never debated whether or not Katharine was better vocally. Go back and read the posts if you think otherwise. Overall, Taylor was the best. My qualified opinion (based off of my 2 years as a little league umpire) is what makes this a fact.
It's not much of a guess when you can check my profile to see how old I am. Ironically, I'm not impressed that you've played for 34 years. I find it rather funny that someone who has to be 40 years old (minimum) is on the Spawn.com message board proclaiming his musical greatness to others in a thread about the next American Idol winner.
Keep your outstanding musical performance up, it's gotten you far.
4-LOSW, anyone?

So, Clive picked all her songs or just that one? I'm pretty sure that was the theme; that Clive picked their song for that week alone, right?
'Cause if that's the case then you need to carefully re-read Juniormintz's post.

Clive picked ONE song for her. Randy Jackson, when critiquing her, talked about song choice being crucial. He must've had a momentary mental lapse.

I don't look at profiles.
I'm not trying to impress you.
I'm not proclaiming musical greatness. Just giving you honest credentials to back what I claim.
I didn't start the topic.
Lighten up.:)
I'm done. Take care and God bless.

Hey Model I am a big Chris fan. The Show ended for me when he left. But I watched on a little here and there to see the outcome. I couldn't figure out why I did not love Kat. Like she is extremely talented, and gorgeous, what is there not to like. I figured it out in the last week. She sings with no heart. She has the best voice but its like she knows it and just lets the tool do the work. I couldn't relate to her. But Taylor, you can tell with him that he puts every ounce of his being in to his music. I think that is why people have an easier time liking him. He isn't spoiled with talent, he has to work at it. He reminds people of themselves. Don't get me wrong though I think Kat is amazing. But preferred to watch Taylor.

Her hair style made her look much older than she should. She's prettier than that. Too much make up too. She sounded pretty textbook on that tune. Eh.
