Hey does NBA 2K7 hit stores on tuesday? or Wednesday?

I saw on gamestop that they ship today so it should be in stores tomorrow right? But I saw a commercial that said the 28th?

If you don't have an HDTV, don't bother. You'll get real upset at the game, real fast. Go back to the last page to read my post about how they won't even patch the game. It looks fun, but I had to give up on it. If you're the type to play through your games with a strategy guide, you may be ok. I don't use strategy guides very often so I need the text to actually be legible.

It is so small that you really can't read it without getting right up on the tv, and even then it's hard. pretty frustrating unless you have a HDTV.

Basically, they refuse to patch the game and they're just hoping that this all blows over. However, they still want your money so they're doubling the size of their ad campaign. Don't you just love Capcom? This is the same company that released a PS2 Viewtiful Joe demo that erased the data of whatever memory card that you had in the system. Their response? Oh well.

Kain, you liking PGR?
I loves me some racing games. Played the hell out of this a while ago, but lately, I have a buddy online who lives and breathes racing games. So we are racing a lot all of a sudden.

He got me to try using the in car view and turning off the HUD and music, and just listen to the engine for when to shift. I tell you, it's like a whole new game. So immersive. No map shown and you have to use your mirrors to see your opposition coming up. I only fiddled with the in car view before, always been a die-hard hood or bumper view guy. But this is really awesome, especially with some of the cars with no roofs. There are some crazy ****pit views in there. Take out an Atom or Radical on Nurburgring and it's just nuts.
He made me laugh saying, "yeah, I don't really drive cars in real life with my head down by the bumper".

Plus, we race cars across all the classes I've never even considered using in the career mode.

It's kinda nice to fall back in love with a game and find it fresh and different than when you've played it.

Really stoked for GTR coming ealry 07. That'll be even more of a sim than Forza 2.

I would still say it's worth the 60 even with the small text. But if you want to see what they are saying then you need to get the strategy guide or just ignore it all together. Or keep checking your cases to see if you get new ones added or something like that.

But yeah capcom's full of dorks because they refuse to patch this.

The Datel Transfer Kit makes a backup of everything on your memory card. If you are just transfering over a downloaded file make sure you have a backup of any other files you want of your memory card. I think you might have to register to read this but it's a good tutorial on how to use the Datel Transfer Kit.

dlvd = delivered. $40 is the total price, assuming you live in the U.S.

To get credit for taking over a gang's territory completely (And thereby gaining credit for the achievement), do you just have to do all of the missions for said gang?

Are you new Jamesweighs? Test Drive has been around for years and it has never been a sim. Hell, only one or two of the Test Drive games were actually any good. If you want a sim, you have Forza and Gran Turismo. That's about all. I mean no offense, but Test Drive is on about the 8th game in the series. You should know it's not a sim by now.

Am I new? No, but the new game was supposed to be/advertised as a sim. After all the interviews with the developers and preview stories I've read about how they used the real manufacturers specs to make them handle like they really would in real life, it kinda gave me some hope. I didn't really expect it to be, but thought maybe with the next gen revamp, we'd get a great racer.

I don't mind the arcade style, but just a bit disappointed.

Believe me, I know about GT and Forza (see avatar). Love them. Just waiting on Forza 2, GTR, and Colin McRea to get my racing fix. Too bad Sony has the rights for F1...

If you go check out the Capcom message boards, you will see some HDTV owners complaining about the text problem also. Obviously it's not an isolated problem. Even if it was a cheap HDTV, it should still work. HDTV shouldn't make such a big difference in the text that it's not still a little on the small side.

I haven't played a hockey game in 3 years and always turned off off-sides when I did. I picked up NHL 07 last week and don't regret spending 60 bucks on it. The gameplay is addicting.

The only problem I have with it is that the hits don't "feel" as hard as in years past, but all the other things are smooth and after you pick up the learning curve you'll be clicking.

Can't speak to 2k7 since I haven't played it.

Like everyone this year (it seems), I was teetering back and forth, but the fact that the overall general impression I got from everywhere were that NHL 07's graphics were better, that had me leaning that way, and the analog shoot stick features is pretty tight. I finally decided F--- it, I'm just going to get 07 and live with my decision.

So far, I'm not kicking myself.

Buy the X2 and X4 to studs...the longer you wait on those the more painful the grind from 90% to 100% is. Right now I'm slightly over 95% and am in desperate need of 30 million studs.

You need to unlock AND buy all of the cheats.....if you are making studs at a faster rate it's easier to get to 100% hence why you should go with the X2, X4, X6, X8 and X10 multipliers first. So when you are beating the rest of the game and getting your true jedi status you are doing it twice as fast with better results.

Chugga
09-26-2006, 06:54 PM
The Emperor is the most useful character in the game.....nothing beats a ghost jedi though. You'll get to 100% faster with a ghost jedi then with anything else. You can skip literally every enemy in the game (aside from boss battles) and just collect studs at your leisure. It's what I've used the majority of my time playing.

Man, I'm really getting turned off to Gamespot as my source for the best reviews. They are so harsh on every 360 game. I've heard the argument that they are "pre-comparing" the games to future releases for the system, but seriously, they're doing the gamers a disservice by how harsh they're being.

Well, I just heard an interesting reason as to why Capcom won't patch Dead Rising. And that's because it's not something that is patchable. It would be a brand new addition to the game. It would require a new UI (or something like that). So Capcom would actually have to issue new discs. This is according to my animation instructor who has worked in games before.

Makes sense as to why they wouldn't patch the game, however it still is aggravating and it means that I have to buy a Strategy Guide so I know what's being said.

Chugga,

When you get a chance could you give us your impressions of 2k7?

Update is in bold

Ok these are just first impressions as I've only been playing for a couple of hours but I've tried basically everything out so heres what I got....

First and foremost lets talk about graphics. NBA2K7 made a huge step in it's graphics department this year. It's unfortunate that, that step is indeed backwards. I thought it was just my eyes or maybe somewhere in my head I had rated NBA2K6's visuals higher then they actually are. So I pop in 2K6 just to check it out and it wasn't my mind fooling me, NBA2K6 almost looks years ahead of NBA2K7....which doesn't really make sense but oh well. Some things have been improved. The courts look 10 times better this year then last year as every reflection shines right into the court and moves depending on how the camera is looking at it. This is pretty damn impressive unfortunately I like to see the players better then the wood paneling. The stadiums are also pretty impressive but are held back by less then amazing crowd models and animations. It's time for 2K to take a page out of EA's book and import that "living crowd" aspect that Madden and College have. It may not look perfect but it's 10 times better then what 2K7 is offering....the crowd looks very last gen. Street modes and 24/7 mode looks god awful...if a friend walked into the room he'd likely ask me why I'm playing sega genesis...seriously it's bad.

Ok I was a little harsh in this last paragraph....the graphics are definately a step down but maybe not as much as I said. The key is to switch the camera angle over to "2K" the traditional camera that the series has had for the last 7 years. In the 2k camera angle your bench actually looks halfway decent (since you aren't looking dead on) and the crowd is improved too. The action actually looks better too because NBA2K7 has even better cloth physics then last time from what I saw. The main problem I see with the graphics is alot of the lesser known guys just look flat out generic like someone gave them 5 minutes in the create-a-player feature and called it a day. But even the stars have taken a step down...Lebron last year looked alot more smoother then lebron this year. Shaq may be the only guy who got an improvement. The weird thing is last year you'd almost want a foul or play stoppage to happen just so you could see how ridiculously life-like the character models looked...this year the graphics are actually better when far away so you really never want them to zoom in because then it gets slightly questionable.

Now that the bad stuff is out of the way onto the good stuff. So far this game has played quite possibly the best of any bball game I've ever owned. I like the "little" things in my sports games. I'm the kind of guy who will go crazy if a game includes something as minor as having a runningback put his hand on the back of his o-lineman to push forward. When NFL2k5 had that I almost crapped my pants. So with that being said NBA2K7 does all the little things right....nearly perfect. Players diving after loose balls, people cutting off passing lanes and jumping into them, the new low post game. Everything plays amazing. They've added to the dribbling, layup, and shooting options so once you really get indepth with this game I can only imagine you can string together some pretty amazing things....if the defense lets you. Speaking of defense I was impressed. I've never driven to the hoop so many times only to get my shot send into the 2nd row. And not in a cheap fashion where the lane is completely off limits....it's just smart defense...defenders actually switching off and coming to the weak side to help. A guy like Ben Wallace is a FORCE this year. With defense AI really tweaked for the better the guys who actually play great defense will show. Theres really alot to be said about the gameplay....as always it's classic 2K gameplay but smarter.

Last but not least presentation. I want to be able to say the presentation was through the roof...and believe me it was...but it's the damn graphics that really hold back the presentation. Some of the minor things they added blew me away. At the end of the quarter the dance squad will come out and do cartwheels on the floor while the mop guys will clean up the paint from sweat. This was amazing the first time I saw it...then at the end of the 3rd quarter a cheerleader did a cartwheel directly through Shaq and the mop boy started mopping Dwayne Wades shoes and that kinda ruined it. They now have animations when coming up the court that really add to the game. It's not always just the same old running animation every time up the court...every once and a while you'll run with your hand up calling a play or sometimes you'll come up jogging, just adds to the presentation makes it look like your watching a real life game. Same for the end of layups....players don't just land and directly start running back down court...if you were going to the basket with alot of momentum you'll actually make a sweeping circle to go back down court not just "skate on ice" like normally and cut right back down. Also when just standing still dribbling you don't do that careless no-animation dribble players will cross over by themselves and try to keep the ball away from the defender. Small addition but adds to the overall presentation. Last but not least while I'm normally not a huge fan of commentators (I generally just use custom soundtracks and tune them out) this years commentators were actually pretty on point throughout most of the game. The conversation seemed very slick....but I won't know how repetitive it gets until I play some more.

While this goes along with gameplay I gotta give this it's own section. They damn near gave every player in the league his own shot animation. Seeing Tracy McGrady and Shawn Marion do their signature shots was amazing...but when the no name 12th man gets his shot animated into the game too I'm impressed.

Dare I say it but the 24/7 mode actually looks like it's pretty fun this year....theres a story to it, alot of dialogue, and no more mindless training. Basically the premise to this year is NBA stars in their offtime just hang out around random courts in the US so you travel to these courts and call "next" hence why the mode is called "24/7: Next". You play and stay on the court as long as you keep winning. I basically called next when a bunch of scrubs were on the court and started winning and steve nash is watching me this entire time...after like my 4th game all of a sudden steve nash calls next and calls me out. Him and Kevin Garnett want to take me on 2 on 2 with a player of my choice (whoever is hanging out at the court...some guys don't want to play with you though). Needless to say I sent Steve Nash home packing but not before he taught me a new move that I could use on my way to Rucker park (a 1 button alley oop).

The menus take some getting used to but once you figure them out it's actually very easy to navigate. It just took me entirely too long to get used to them...I've never know a videogame where the B button didn't send you backwards....which it doesn't in 2K7, over on the right thumbstick will send you back. Overall it makes no difference to me....I don't see why they couldn't have just stuck with the B button but hey if innovating menus is what you wanna do, thats cool.

Overall I think it's a great game and since NBA Live is the only other game on the market it's automatically the best basketball game available right now. (if you don't know I absolutely despise NBA Live...I always give the game chances, and it's always a huge disappointment. EA hasn't put out a decent NBA Live since 1997). I think if you combine last years graphics with this years gameplay you likely have one of the best basketball game ever created. Gives Bulls vs. Blazers, NBA Live 95, and Tecmo Basketball a run for it's money. But unfortunately they couldn't bring the entire package out this year. Last year you got graphics, this year you get gameplay, next year I'm hoping we get both.

If I had to give it a number to say how good it was I'll probably go with an 8.8. The gameplay is amazing, the presentation is amazing, but theres room for improvement on the graphical front. Once you get the crowds, stadiums, and players at a level they should be at then nothing is holding this game back from scoring a 9.7

I should also add onto the review positioning is actually used in a good way this year....if a guy gets in front of your center he isn't automatically off limits to throwing the ball to. You can actually do a lead lob right under the basket for an easy 2. But like I said above the D is very smart and when I tried it to Shaq alot of times by time I caught the ball there was already plenty of help under the basket.

Last but not least as I'm sure it's implied since it's a 2K game collision detection is amazing. And feels like a true fight for position. One time I was controlling Ben Gordon and got caught in a horrible mismatch with Shaq without the ball....so Shaq started backing me down till he was 2 inches away from the basket...and it honestly felt like a struggle...a struggle I had no hope in winning.

A tiny little arrow is added to the bottom of your screen when you are close to a mini-kit. But you have to be in the zone the the mini-kit is in for the arrow to show up

To the hockey fans out there which is better? NHL2K7 or NHL07? I don't watch hockey, I don't like hockey, hell I don't even know the majority of hockeys rules. But ever since NHL on the genesis I've loved hockey games, but only buy them every once and a while. So I wanted to make a purchase this year....which one do I go with?

ahhh, i'm so pissed right now. I was trying to complete the minikit section of Episode IV, Level 3, the spaceport. I have 9 out of 10 and I went to play the mini-game where you shoot the little creatures. It counts me up to 10 but won't give me the damn minikit. I'm pretty sure I've gotten all the other ones. Plus the minikit detector doesn't show anything in that area.

So frustrated...want to....kill....Vader.

Been lurking around teamxbox forums for the last few minutes and found this sweet bit of info:

http://www.360monster.com/newspost.php?id=0000001244

Before X06, Microsoft had been telling us that we were going to be treated during the conference to a previously unnanounced IP, which was set to be released as an XBLA title. Several names were thrown into the mix, from several different publishers, but no one was particularly sure.
Well, we're pleased to announce, the waiting is over, and the title is none other than....

Doom!

The original Doom is rumoured to be seeing a release later today, with a much higher resolution, 5.1 sound, 4 player split-screen co-op, and on and offline multiplayer, all for the comparitvely low price of 800mp. Whilst this may seem a bit disappointing to some who were expecting a new IP, I'm sure the multiplayer and achievements will be enough to sway a lot of people into buying it.

The game includes the original four-episode single-player game, four-player split screen action, both co-op and deathmatch, and four player co-op and deathmatch via Xbox Live. Coming soon to Xbox Live Arcade is Sensible World of Soccer from Codemasters. Based on a classic Amiga title from 1994, Sensible World of Soccer will let gamers choose between the original graphics or an updated, high-resolution look and feel—while still capturing the original game's wide world of football.

• Arriving at retailers in North America, the U.K, France and Germany
in mid-November 2006, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player will retail for
$199.99 in North America (estimated retail price)* and €199.99/£129.99 (estimated retail price)* in the U.K., France and Germany. The Xbox 360 HD DVD Player comes with the Universal Pictures' blockbuster film Peter Jackson's "King Kong" on HD DVD (for a limited time) and the Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote.

"Xbox 360 is changing the way developers are telling stories today — from the industry's most beloved franchises to exciting new properties," said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. "We are inspiring the imaginations of the entertainment industry's best and most creative talent to take their franchises in exciting directions, while also spinning new tales for everyone."

"We are incredibly pleased to be here in Barcelona to talk about the next chapter of Xbox and how Xbox 360 continues to deliver on the promise and potential of the next generation," said Chris Lewis, regional vice president of the Home and Entertainment Division, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), at Microsoft. "As we prepare to launch some of our biggest global titles and best regional content both right now and well into the future, consumers will have much to choose from with a system designed for high-definition and online entertainment. We are the only next-generation experience that seamlessly connects players to their games, friends and entertainment content."

Xbox 360 Stretches Popular Franchises in New Directions Xbox 360 continues to expand the interactive entertainment landscape, enabling industry superstars to take beloved franchises in exciting new directions. Microsoft Game Studios announced its partnership with Peter Jackson to herald in a new age of interactive entertainment that can only be realized on Xbox 360 and Xbox Live. The goal of this partnership is to create new stories and redefine the way they are told. The first part of this long-term relationship is for Jackson, Walsh and team to bring to life two new interactive entertainment experiences exclusively for the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live. The first project is to co-write, co-design and co-produce a completely new and original chapter in the "Halo" universe in collaboration with Bungie Studios. The second project is an entirely original property from the team in New Zealand that will not only bring a whole new interactive story to life, but will also captivate new audiences that have yet to discover the power of interactive entertainment.

In addition, in collaboration with Microsoft Game Studios, Jackson and Walsh are creating Wingnut Interactive. The two will create a world-class interactive entertainment studio that fuses the strength of Microsoft's technology and interactive entertainment experience with the creative and imaginative excellence of the Wingnut Interactive team.

"Microsoft has built an amazing living canvas with Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, which allows the storytellers of our time to express themselves in a new medium. They have fundamentally changed how people think about games," Jackson said. "My vision, together with Microsoft Game Studios, is to push the boundaries of game development and the future of interactive entertainment. From a movie-maker's point of view, it is clear to me that the Xbox 360 platform is the stage where storytellers can work their craft in the same way they do today with movies and books but taking it further with interactivity."

In addition to demonstrating its leadership in the next-generation of games through exclusive alliances, Microsoft Game Studios announced "Halo Wars," an all-new real-time strategy game based on the legendary "Halo" universe and built exclusively for Xbox 360 by Ensemble Studios, the creators of the "Age of Empires" series. "Halo Wars" places the player in command of human UNSC armies as they deploy for mankind's first deadly encounter with the enemy Covenant forces.

In addition, Microsoft Game Studios provided first details surrounding "Project Gotham Racing 4," the latest addition to the premiere racing franchise from Bizarre Creations and the reunion of Banjo, Kazooie and Gruntilda in an all-new addition to the "Banjo-Kazooie" franchise from industry veterans Rare.

Microsoft and Ubisoft announced that the next "Splinter Cell" title will be created exclusively for Xbox 360. Based on the increasingly proven potential of the Xbox 360 hardware and its online promise, Ubisoft confirmed that Xbox 360 will be the exclusive platform for the next iteration of its influential and massively popular espionage franchise. Through the power of Xbox Live, the series that revolutionized online cooperative and competitive gameplay promises to transform and modernize online gaming once again.

New details regarding the exclusive, epic episodic content for the upcoming and highly anticipated "Grand Theft Auto IV" from Rockstar and Take-Two were also revealed; Rockstar Games will offer two downloadable episodes, each with hours of entirely new gameplay, extending the experience of an already immense game. Both chapters will be exclusive and available only to Xbox 360 gamers via Xbox Live.
"Grand Theft Auto IV" will be available to Xbox 360 gamers on its first day of availability: Oct. 16, 2007, in North America and Oct.
19, 2007, in Europe.

Xbox Live Arcade made a surprise unveiling today of one of the greatest games of the 3-D era: "DOOM" (id Software) is now available for download for 800 points. The game brings legendary "DOOM" mayhem to gamers, who for the first time ever can relive the classic demon-blasting fragfest in both single-player and two-to-four player co-operative and deathmatch modes over Xbox Live. Also a new, multititle relationship with Codemasters was announced, with the first title being the classic, fast-action soccer game, "Sensible World of Soccer."

Xbox Live is a thriving online game community, connecting more than 3 million members across nearly 25 countries to enjoy hundreds of social games, as well as on-demand game demos, Xbox Live Arcade games, and music and movie content. With more than 10 million downloads to date and nearly 100 independent, classic and original development titles available by next summer, Xbox Live Arcade is a fast-growing phenomenon.

Most Affordable Way for Xbox 360 Owners to Jump Into the Next-Generation of DVD At X06, exciting details about the highly anticipated Xbox 360 HD DVD Player were also revealed. Available in mid-November 2006 in North America for $199.99 (estimated retail price)*, in the U.K., France and Germany for €199.99 (£129.99) (estimated retail price)* and other territories in 2007, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player comes with the Universal Pictures blockbuster film Peter Jackson's "King Kong" on HD DVD (for a limited time) and the Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote.
Users can just add Xbox 360 HD DVD Player to Xbox 360 to create the ultimate home-theater experience.

"The Xbox 360 HD DVD Player is the best high-definition movie experience and value on the market," Moore said. "The reviews, the word of mouth and the consumer response have all been crystal clear — HD DVD is the format of choice. We're not forcing movie technology on game players but are instead letting them choose how to personalize their experiences. If they want HD DVD, there's no better value out there."
The Xbox 360 HD DVD Player offers up to six times higher resolution than DVD, and as part of the fall 2006 console update all Xbox 360 consoles will have the ability to output native resolution 1080p games and movies. Users can enjoy blockbuster HD DVD releases, with more than 150 titles available by the holidays from major movie studios including HBO, Paramount Pictures, StudioCanal, Universal Studios, New Line Entertainment and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
The Industry's Most Anticipated Titles Are Coming to Xbox 360 In addition to taking popular franchises in new directions, developers are finding new life through Xbox 360 with exciting new content and are delivering many of the industry's most praised and anticipated titles.

Arguably the most anticipated title of 2006, "Gears of War" from Epic Games and Microsoft Game Studios is a third-person tactical action/horror game available exclusively on Xbox 360. "Gears of War" will be the only game to blend a deep and disturbing story of human survival against hordes of nightmarish creatures with a next-generation tactical combat system and unsurpassed visuals and special effects.

"Gears of War," which will be available Nov. 12, 2006, in the U.S. and Nov. 17, 2006, in Europe, has garnered numerous industry awards and accolades including the Game Critics Awards Best Console and Best Action Game of E3 2006, IGN's E3 2005 Best Xbox 360 Game, and GameSpot's E3 2006 People's Choice Award.
From leading U.K.-based developer Rare and Microsoft Game Studios comes "Viva Piñata™," an original game concept and the latest innovative gaming experience for gamers of all ages and types. "Viva Piñata" invites gamers to create an immersive world where living piñatas inhabit an ever-changing environment. "Viva Pinata," which has won several industry awards including Best Graphics from Nick Jr.
Magazine and IGN's Runner-Up for Best Strategy Game of E3 2006, is scheduled to be available this holiday.

Underlining the Xbox 360 platform strength, Microsoft and Ubisoft today confirmed that "Assassin's Creed," the eagerly anticipated action title set in medieval times, is also coming to Xbox 360 day and date with the game's release on other platforms. "Assassin's Creed" is a next-generation action-adventure/stealth title from the highly talented and critically acclaimed team that brought gamers "Prince of
Persia: The Sands of Time." "Assassin's Creed" will place gamers in the role of a ruthless and skilled Assassin as he tracks his victims through the historical era known as the Crusades.

Last week at the Tokyo Game Show in Japan, "Lost Odyssey" wowed audiences with its incredible graphic style and epic storyline. From famed Japanese developer Hironobu Sakaguchi, "Lost Odyssey" will be shipped in Japan in 2007, and in the U.S. and Europe at a later date.

Few games have generated more interest than "BioShock" (2K Games) in the past year, and Microsoft confirmed today that the highly anticipated first-person shooter will be exclusive to Xbox 360 and Windows when it launches in spring 2007.

Looking into the coming year, X06 showcased a montage video trailer demonstrating the dazzling power and versatility of the Xbox 360 platform, promising gamers a choice of titles and genres coming this spring season, including the Microsoft Game Studios titles "Crackdown™" (Real Time Worlds), "Too Human" (Silicon Knights), "Mass Effect" (BioWare Corp.), and "Forza Motorsport™ 2" (Turn 10). In addition to these titles from Microsoft Game Studios, games from today's leading publishers round out what is already a robust library of offerings for the Xbox 360 platform, including "John Woo Presents Stranglehold" (Midway), "Lost Planet: Extreme Condition" (Capcom) and "Pro Evolution Soccer 6" (Konami).

I dunno, that new control scheme is pretty damn fun in 07. Each time you score a goal it's a great feeling and you'll probably view the replay from multiple angles several times. Not to say that it's hard, but you feel like you really controlled and manipulated it, rather than just hitting the button.

But yeah, LSW is pretty fun too.

I tried the HD cable, the regular cable, everything. The coffin is on its way. But here's my concern, most people have gone down w/ the ring of fire. Man i went crazy at Gamestop today...trade in a bunch of stuff. They have a deal right now on games where you trade 3 in and get an extra 10 bucks.

So anyway, now heading into the holiday season, here's where I'm at.

Marvel - Paid off
F.E.A.R - Paid off
Gears of War - Paid off
COD 3 - Paid off
Crackdown - $5 reserved
and I'm left with 25 bucks in credit.

Sad thing is, there's still a handful of games I want. Rainbox Six, Star Trek: Legacy, NBA 2K7, etc...

We both rented a game from Lackluster---I, NHL 2007 (I've been wanting to be able to personally comment on it, since I've already put in a good deal of time with NHL2K7), and him, NBA2K7. I love NBA2K7, while NHL 2007 is merely...meh. And this coming from a guy who loves hockey more than any other sport (Ask anyone around here).

I hate to tag-along in this argument but getting an HDTV really changes the experience. However minor it may be, once you hook up a 360 to an HDTV you simply can't go back.

A 360 without an HDTV is like a basketball without friends. Sure I can shoot around pretend theres 5 seconds on the clock and I'm Michael Jordan. I can have a HELL of a time with that basketball. But get me 5 more friends and we can do a little pickup game of 3 on 3 and even though you are essentially doing the same things you've always done with the basketball somehow it's 50 times better. You can enjoy the hell out of a 360 without an HDTV. But when you finally do get yourself an HDTV it's a whole new experience. Even if the difference is minor at best.

I don't know you in real life so your opinion of me doesn't matter. I only guessed your age because you apparently lack the ability to comprehend what you read before responding. A skill that is learned in middle school and high school. I don't mind having a conversation about anything. Just don't change my words to a different meaning so you can insult me.

To keep this on topic, has anybody seen a copy of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland for less than $30? I want to play it before the new one comes out, but I'm not paying a lot for an awful port with slightly upgraded graphics. I'm just so glad that they went away from that awful T.H.U.G. version of Tony Hawk. They were too easy and only appealing to people who also like Jackass (I hate that show).

I really can't believe the graphics on NBA 2K7 are so bad. How do you take such a step back from last year? Not only did I get rid of this game and go back and pick up NBA 2K6 off ebay for 10 bucks...but between the pitiful MLB 2K6 and 2K sports' complete inability to compete in the graphics department for a next-gen system, I will think long and hard before I ever buy another 2K game again.

Haha, interesting to see some defense on my behalf - thanks guys.

But yeah, having played my 360 on 3 TV's thusfar - my 20 inch panny in my dorm room, my 27" tosh at my house (actually a decent set, love it to death, great SD set and plan on keeping it for many years still in my bedroom or guestroom etc), and my roommates awful 20" memorex set, it's a pretty big deal what we bought today for the new apartment my roommates and I are moving into on tues.

A 58" HP DLP set - 720p. Floor sample, but with no damage to tube/screen. The price?

798.88. That's 2.1k off the list price. Also got a 2 year in home warranty + 1 replacement bulb for another 178.88 on top. So grand total, for this awesome TV, was only 1060 or so.

Will have it hooked up on Tuesday, and I cannot wait to play my 360 again (haven't played it since mid august).

Not to sound snotty or arrogant, but 26" is so small. I understand many can't swing a more expensive set, but if you can...I'd think a few hundred dollars more for at least a 32" would be greatly worth it, especially to use with the 360.

I hate to come across as an ass, but are graphics truly the most important thing for the next-gen? I understand the game should look nice, but graphics aren't everything. I find NHL 2007 to be a more graphically superior game than NHL2K7, but that doesn't make it the better game. I was entranced with NBA2K7 after playing it Friday night. They just keep improving on the gameplay in the NBA2K series, year after year. In NBA Live's annual installments, you just run up the court, drive the lane, dunk, then rinse & repeat.

I think it was in the upper left corner in the field of blue flowers...you have to get them all to pop up and then you get extra studs, which I missed the first couple times.

That and I was very careful to force power all windows before destroying any house.

Those two things put me over the 1M mark.

For anybody that doesn't know: Run a QB sneak at anytime and you will automatically get disconnected from your opponent. I had to take that play out of my arsenal because it screwed up my disconnect percentage. I haven't played in about a month so it might have been fixed by now.

http://www.maddennation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70212

That site has more info on the glitch. It's random, but it happens a lot. Run QB sneaks and you will disconnect sometimes. The three times it happened to me, it was on the first QB sneak. I think it has something to do with making substitutions before you run the sneak. I use the Texans and I always have to sub in Owen Daniels. That's probably why it happens. Same thing used to happen on PS2. It required you to sub in a backup at a certain position and the game would automatically disconnect. That was five years ago, they should've fixed it by now.

Cool. Do you have to go online to get it like a roster update?

As long as you're signed into Xbox Live, the moment you boot the game up, it'll auto-detect the update. So yes, basically. :p

A few hardware type questions from a 360 newb.

1. How well does the wireless adapter work? I've read I won't have problems with my Link-Sys wireless G router set at WPA, but I'm a little leary with my past experiences with wireless devices and WPA security.

2. How well do Win XP Pro and the 360 communicate?

3. What's the better purchase, the quick charge battery pack or the regular charge? Should I have an extra battery pack on hand just in case?

Thanks :)

1- I have the same router. No problems here.

2- Can't help you there. I have XP home and I've never tried to network them.

3- I didn't even know there were different types of batteries. I have one of those charging bases and a pair of batteries. When one is charging I just use the other one. Works well for me.

No problem. As far as I know there is a wired charger and the charging station I have. I didn't see the point in having a wireless controller and having to run a wire to charge it so I went with the double battery charging station thing-a-ma-jig.

Quick answer....yes....although some songs won't play. (don't ask me why I had a friend hook up an Ipod only to have a bunch of songs that he legitimately got off of CD's he bought not play at all) The songs he downloaded illegally on the other hand played beautifully. Apparently theres an Ipod download on the Marketplace I suppose maybe that corrects the problem I was having.

The 1080p passthrough is my main concern. Sony has an HDMI switching receiver out for $500 but you've gotta run audio wires individually along with the HDMI because the HDMI doesn't cover audio. Which I think is ridiculous. Yamaha has a bunch of nice receivers out right now...HTR-6090, RX-V1700, RX-V2700. My local best buy has the HTR-6090 for $1000 and this weekend they are running a 12% off sale. I'm thinking I might be able to do better closer to the holiday season online though.

I tried it out a few times. Gotta get used to the handling. Seemed to take a little step back in that dept from NFSMW, but that could just be attributed to the different cars. I am not too keen on the team aspect, but I do like the customization with the analog sticks. That's quite innovative. Seems like it'll be a decent arcade type racer.

About Forza 2, I am sad that are taking out the Point to Point courses. Love racing the up and down hill course (Fujimi Kaido). Kept the gameplay varied a bit, so it's not just strictly hotlap. But I understand their reasoning, to put more emphasis on the circuit tracks. Wonder if they will have point to point or sections of Nurburgring still though, or if it'll be only the whole course. The sections really helped people learn it a little bit at a time. The ring can be intimidating at first. And long.

Most HDMI units right now take both audio and video but will only pass the video through. As for Dolby TrueHD receivers I heard they'd hit the market September of next year at the earliest. To be honest I'm not much of an audiophile so while TrueHD sounds like the next big thing I'm not 110% on board with it. Video will always matter more to me.....just because I can see it....and I generally have friends talking over my movies anyways.

A friend of mine just got back from trying out the PS3 and Wii along with a few of the more anticipated 360 games and he confirmed exactly what I said all along.

1. 360....he played Gears of War and nearly crapped his pants. Basically it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Halo will be taking a backseat to this game. Marvel Ultimate Alliance was the next game he tried out and he was pretty blown away. Apparently it's not much different from XL2 (which isn't a bad thing what-so-ever) and the new characters are integrated amazingly and have really cool powers. Other then Spiderman who he said he couldn't really get the hang of (probably because he's a support character)

2. The Wii...first game he tried out for the Wii was once again Marvel Ultimate Alliance....he got to literally control Captain Americas shield while using the Wii-mote. He'd toss it and then guide it by moving the Wii-mote. Said it would be a tough decision on which version to buy (I'm going with 360 just because I don't want my arms getting tired in a 30 hour RPG). Next on his list was Wii Sports....you don't actually have control over your players in Wii Tennis (which somewhat scared me) but apparently it's amazingly fun anyways. Wii Boxing he said stole the show though. He was knocking out people left and right and said the controlling for punching/blocking was really fun and easy.

3. The PS3 was an amazing system, he was really impressed with what he saw, the games weren't exactly out of this world but he did get to try out Resistance: Fall of Man which he had personally been waiting to see forever. (here comes the I told you part) The game was amazing, he said the selection of guns was pretty impressive....but he kept dying. He kept constantly dying and he had no idea how or why. Why did he have no idea? No rumble feature....he said it wouldn't be a big deal, alot of people online said it wouldn't be a big deal but you try playing a first person shooter without a rumble feature and you can get pegged by a pistol all day without ever even knowing it. From that moment on the more games he moved onto to try out the ONLY thing he could notice was how much better the game would have been with a rumble feature and how handicapped the game was without one. From what I've heard PS3 is working on putting rumble in their battery packs so not all hope is lost but I'm just glad that once again I was correct.

People say rumble isn't a big deal but in first person shooters, sports, puzzle/adventure games, etc you'd be suprised how much things change without a little bit of rumble.

That's why I've always like Metal Gear Solid better. If you get tired of sneaking around, you can run around shooting and beating up everybody. What do you guys think of the Tiger Woods demo? From the few times I've played I think it's going to be just as easy as last years. Probably not at first, but when you get a bit leveld up it sure might. Even with Tiger on the demo, it's pretty easy to get birdies. I don't think the large circle area really makes that much difference.

And I guess I have some eating of my words to do. I got a copy of Test Drive as a b-day gift and actually got a few hours in it yesterday, and it's not nearly as bad as I first thought it was. I didn't care for the first or second demo at all.

Some of the higher end cars handle really well. It's like a cross between NFS and PGR. So far, it's really fun. The missions and races are varied, which is nice, there's always something to do. You're never really stuck. And I've got to say, it's the most relaxing driving/racing game I've played. And the c ockpit views look really really good. I know the folks who did PGR helped them with this. Some of the handling could be better, but I didn't know you could tweak certain things with assists and performance upgrades. Fun game.
