I'll add to it then....Been playing lots of NHL '07 and Saint's Row. Just recently rented NBA Live '07 and it wasn't so good - very glitchy. Waiting for Lego Star Wars II from gameznflix now so the kids can play it this weekend when they come over, they loved the original on the Gamecube.

I guess. Jay- Battlefield 2 got pretty tough for single player. It's not really team based like GRAW, you can hotswap to different members or different classes of soldiers on your side. But the missions are tough and tricky. Average rating for the single player portion is about a 7/10 or so.

I prefer GRAW, but I know how you feel about managing your teammates...
You can play the multiplayer missions offline by yourself as well. No team.
Man, you really have to get Live though, GRAW is fantastic with friends in co-op.

I got my wireless adapter last night... and then proceeded to fight with it until 1:30am. The bloody thing couldn't find my router at all. I'm hoping it's because I have it set for WPA2 security. Considering the router (Linksys WRT54GS) is only about 14 feet away and through one floor) I don't see why it couldn't find it... especially since I could pick up the neighbors routers.

Try opening it up to global and see if that works, and if so try changing around security settings :)

So my team loses the Superbowl and now I am fighting for a Wildcard spot. 7-5 baby! hahaha. Made some peronnel changes. Added Mark Clayton from Baltimore and traded away Demps and a second round pick for Roy Williams from the Cowboys. I acquired Antrel Rolle and Marcus Trufant from free agency in the past off-season. Common elusive ring. LOL.

Funny before I was not too fond of it, then it grew on me...NOW? I LOVE MADDEN ON THE 360. haha

I just won the Superbowl in my first SS season with the Steelers. Had a pretty good game, about 85 yrds rushing. But damn, did Ward have the game of his life.

I was kinda bummed unlocking the SS season acheivements. Not that I am a gamescore wh0re, but I didn't realize that you have to be a SS in all those postions to get them. I thought me playing defense would count. Nope.

I personally can't wait for this game. The drifting is a bit awkward though.

Hmmm....lots of games I'm on the fence with.

Rainbox Six - I like shooters, but how much slower-paced are these rainbox six games.
Star Trek - Is this a strategy game? An action game? A "star-control" type game?
Sonic - Graphics could be very sharp (albeit cartoonish), haven't played the demo

I'm sure I'll end up getting one of these, even with the 4 other titles I've already paid for that come out in the next month, since I'll be dropping my $5 reserve on Crackdown since it was delayed.

I'm so impatient. I hope OXM has at least 1 of these to demo next issue.

I didn't like the sonic demo too much, the camera has issues, which hopefully, they'll fix. You can move it, but really really sloooooow.

Yeah, I still love it. I'm really kind of waiting around for an offline roster update though. The Blackhawks are pretty off.....missing Boucher, Salmelainen, Hamilton, Arkhipov, Kukkonen, Low, and a couple others. I have to say that I don't like the new controls though - it's way too hard for me to score even with 'auto-aim' on. Actually, that's my only complaint with the new 'control stick' - I just can't seem to get more than one or two goals a game. I prefer the classic controls, makes for a little more realistic scoring.
New NFS:Carbon demo is awesome, but the FIFA '07 demo was just incredible!!!...a whole new feel to the ball physics - I really can't wait for this one.

Hey Ruutu- did you d/l the making of fifa trailer from the bringing it home section? Even though I really don't play these games much, it's awesome to see all the work that went into this as far as physics and animations. They palyers heads and eyes track the ball now. And they used that new tracking technology- the foot meets the ball at any position. They even included it the hockey game with the goalie glove. No more "magnetic" animations of having the ball or puck jump to the object. Very cool.


Iso; I am hooked on Test Drive. Never thought I like it as much, but it's really fun.

I used to do a weekly one here on my own but MGC finally gave the ability to do a custom leaderboard so just go ahead and bookmark it. It updates every 10 minutes and it's a good way to find some fellow 'Spawnies' to game with and add to your friends list. I still need to work on a spreadsheet that indicates what gamertag is registered to which boardname, hopefully I can get that done by next week.

And I almost gave up on live too. You really gotta find good people to play with, which I feared was impossible at first, but it's not the case.

I have found a co-worker's hubby, his brother, and their friends to play with online. All in their mid to late 30s, and oddly enough, we all live in the area. And at least two of them are on almost every night. Like clockwork, we play GRAW and then race and occasionally box. It's a lot of fun.
We're all chomping at the bit for the multiplayer portions of Splinter Cell, Rainbow, Gears, GTR, Tiger Woods, and Forza 2. Too many good games coming... going to be a spendy few months.

I totally agree with you about the sports games. For some reason I prefer to play those single player. I do have some other friends to paly football with, but I like the dynasty modes better. Plus, it can be tough to finish a game, way too many people quit out when you play them.

Ruutu, you should kick my butt at hockey some time...

Try turning it off then back on. I didn't get it until after going back in.

I liked it (judging from the demo). It does seem to have a little bit of that 'sense of speed' removed but the canyon race that you unlock by winning the other two is awesome - that was a blast!! I like the sculpting of the parts and panels as well, pretty cool. A rental for sure, still waiting for an off-roader though, what's the story on Colin McRae or another Rallisport game?

Anyone have any recommendations between NHL 2k7 vs 07 - 07 seems way more fun, 2k7 feels almost the same as freaking 2k for dreamcast, and doesn't look all that much better to boot, but both demos are pretty limiting.

I didn't get to play NHL2K6 for the 360 (I've only had my system for just about a 1 month), so I can't comment on it. I can say, though, that it's not better than NHL2K3---the best of the 2K series. The goalies have returned to better days, as they can save the day again, as they did during that installment. The graphics have been bumped up from the standard Xbox, but they're not as "next-gen" as NHL07. However, graphics aren't the only reason why I buy a game. The game is still deep, though. I have yet to really get into the franchise, though, as I've mostly played exhibitions. I still think the core gameplay of the 2K franchise is there.

EA did an admirable job at revamping their game (Finally), and I give them kudos for it. However, the hit-heavy defense, as well as the idiocy of players to go offside continually pissed me off. I think they've really got something going, and both teams should be on their 'A' games for '08. ;)

Here's a quick question for anyone who has any idea...

What's with the different colored sides/vents on some of the systems? A good number of the units from the launch wave seemed to have a metalic grey color to the vents on the side and the hard drive. The controllers also had this same metallic color on the bottom.

Then, more of the later systems I've seen have just sort of a flat grey color to the vents/hard drive (and again, controller bottom). Is there a reason for this? Does the flat grey to metallic indicate what "wave" the system is from (ie. Launch systems to later productions) or what factory and what companies disc drive is in it? Or is it just a matter of random, no major reason change to the paint used?

I hate how fast he turns when you're moving sideways. He just seems generally too hard to control. They need to fix that somehow. Also, the camera kind of sucks.

Those were my two issues too. Too hard to get him to go where you want, and the camera pans waaaaaay too slow manually.

They got some time though, could fix these things fairly easily I'd bet.

While I wouldn't be suprised if the release dates get skewed a bit as it stands right now November 7th is quite possibly the greatest day or the worst day ever (depending on how fat your wallet is) for a Xbox360 fan.

Well after watching all the gameplay movies I can safely say Rainbow Six Vegas looks amazing, and I probably won't be getting it when it comes out.

I just don't have the patience for that type of shooter, at least not enough to spend 60 bucks on it. Maybe my mind will change after the demo.

I love the R6 series. It is not meant to be a run & gun game, but if one gets too bored, you can go nuts, if you'd like.

I'm looking forward to Fuzion Frenzy 2, as well. My wife got me the first one for Xmas of '01, and it made for a nice party game (for 4, at least). I'm hoping the 2nd one will be just as fun.

It's fine on regular tvs. Looks great. But better on HD tvs.
Get the 360 now for sure.
The 360 has settings for both widescreen and regular. Standard 480 up to 1080i too, so you have options with it.

It is a huge difference. I have a std tv, but took it down to Madison on played on my folks 42 HD tv. Damn. Made it real hard to come back home. Hopefully, I'll be getting one soon.

If anything, playing the 360 on a regular tv will make playing it on a HDTV even better. So get the 360 now and pick up the HDTV whenever you get the money.

Yea man 2 of my buddies both have HD sets...but they dont have 360's. I've played the 360 at walmart target etc on those samsung lcd tvs....pretty sweet.. but i'd love to buy it and hook it up on my buddies 47inch lcd tv.

I def want it to be hooked up with the HDMI cables to get the best picture... The Tv im going for is the westinghouse 42inch LCD tv... it displays 1080p and its about $1500 well its 1700 right now but im sure it will go on sale again...ive got a connection at a bestbuy who said he might hook me up with a discount.

I can buy the 360 now... or I can wait a month or two until i get my bonus and buy the tv and a 360....

If you buy the TV set you don't actually get any enjoyment out of it until you get the 360 (unless you decide to buy HD programming). If you buy a 360 you get plenty of enjoyment out of it, leading up to the purchase of your HDTV.

I want Rainbow, because I know a lot of my friends will be playing that one too, but I'm kinda burnt out on the Rainbow franchise itself, well, I say burnt out, but really it's lack of interest with Gears of War and F.E.A.R. coming out. I got started on the xbox with Rainbow Six and that's the majority of what we always played. Then Letdown came out. So, I'm on the fence with this one ... I just know most of the guys I normally game with will have it, and sometimes they're a bit on the ..."well if you don't have it too bad for you side" ... I know they're getting Gears as well, so maybe they'll love that one.

Take for instance...full auto, need the full game to really appreciate how amazing it is. Same with burnout...same with basically all racing games I guess. They give you only so many modes and so many tracks and things seem boring. Fighting games too.....I actually didn't buy the outfit because of it's less then amazing demo...but the full game is actually cool as hell in co-op.

yeah i understand this side of it, too. i guess the demo is just to be considered as a whole part of the equation when the full version comes out...including reviews and word of mouth, as well.

Anyone else having huge internal struggles with the ridiculous day known only as "November 7th, 2006". As far as EBgames.com is concerned 4 huge games come out that day. While I wouldn't be suprised if the release dates get skewed a bit as it stands right now November 7th is quite possibly the greatest day or the worst day ever (depending on how fat your wallet is) for a Xbox360 fan.

Fear, Gears of War, Call of Duty3, and Fuzion Frenzy2. I see all of those games as must buys....even worse I probably won't be done with Marvel Ultimate Alliance yet either by time they all get released.


November 8th is the actual release date for most of that stuff, since EB/GameStop still list the ship date on their stuff, rather than the day it comes in.

As far as the "Emergence Day" confusion, Epic has stated that it is OFFICIALLY November 12th. Stores will get the game in on November 8th, but the 12th is the day that ALL stores (Best Buys, and everything else under the sun) will have it and be selling it. So far they haven't enforced a "street date" of the 12th, so if any stores get it in before then, they should be able/allowed to sell them right away.

Also according to EB....the 8th is when the HD-DVD player comes out. So, that's GOW(again, assuming Epic doesn't enforce a street date), FEAR, the HD-DVD player, Call of Duty 3, and a few others that I'm waiting for....not good for the wallet.

Last I checked, it should still upconvert.

It does play at 720P, but MS is also making a system update that will allow 1080P display if your TV inputs support it through the appropriate cables.

Plus, it comes with a universal remote and a free copy of Peter Jackson's King Kong on HD-DVD.

Gotta stick with the gold bro.... Once you find a group of people to play online with, it cant be beat. I have a couple of people I play Battlefield with and 6 hour marathons are the rule, not the exception. ( Once the wife is asleep of course :o ). Cant wait to get my damn box back

Battlefield is designed to be a multiplayer game, thats why the PC version is so bad@$$. Hell I'd bet of the thousands of people that own battlefield maybe a couple dozen have actually played through the single player mode. Single player is just an afterthought for that game. Thats not to say it's terrible but once you go online one you can never go back to that joke they call single player.

I used to work for UPS, so just the thought of my 360 being repeatedly thrown on and off the truck, makes me think that by the time I do get it, I'll be sending it right back.You get yours back yet???

The lack of a jump button is a real pain, that's for sure. I don't mean to make it sound like GOTY material, but it's just not as bad as people have made it out to be. You'd think it was as bad as Killzone, or something. :p

I've never had a problem with text on the TV I played it on - a 27" toshiba that, granted, has component in and I don't sit far from, and has a damn nice picture for an SD set. And I have absolutely awful vision, on top of all that.

I think it rocks. Still one of the few FPS where aiming actually means something. It is frustrating when you are new and keep taking headshots like crazy, but once you learn how to aim it just keeps getting better. To me it is a game where the Best player usually wins, I happen to like that.

Well first of all body armor makes you godly....to a point where it's not even fun. When you come around the corner and I point blank nail you in the chest with a shotgun you shouldn't still be at full health. Ontop of that the shooting system is a complete roll of the dice. You could shoot someone in the head 10 times and be forced to kill them the old fashioned way and then sometimes someone can just shoot you once in the face and get the "headshot!" message. Multiplayer is absolute crap.

Read this article today....and I personally agree that it's disconcerning what's going on with microtransactions. I have yet to spend any marketplace points on anything, and if i ever do for something like this, you can be damn sure I'll be waiting until i can pick the game itself up for 20 bucks or less.

Tired of cheating for free? EA has announced that in Tiger Woods 07 for the Xbox 360, cheating is going to cost you. Big time, if you want everything. Either you play the game all the way - or you spend $14.25 and get it all the easy way.

As Next Generation reports, you'll be able to cheat on whatever you want - at 200 to 300 Microsoft Points a pop. Courses, equipment and even skills - you can buy it all, instead of playing through the game and earning it. That's nothing new. But shelling out dollars to do so is an innovation... and an unpleasant one. We've hate the way publisher Codemasters has been experimenting with selling cheats over the internet for the past couple years, and we really hate the way EA is apparently jumping on the "nickel and dime the user until they bleed" bandwagon.

The spin will surely be something like, "this way, people who don't want cheats won't have to pay extra for them", but it's still bull****. This is exactly what we feared would go wrong with microtransactions - forcing the user to pay extra to get the entire game.

That was always a big problem with the past Tiger Woods games. You couldn't see exactly which character your opponent was using. Sure, you could see that they were using Tiger Woods. However, you couldn't see which Tiger they were using. So if you had the regular Tiger and they had Super Sunday Tiger, you were screwed because you wouldn't see that until the game had started. I'm not sure if they fixed it in last year's 360 version because I never played it after hearing how little effort was put into it. Fight Night screws you like that too. If somebody picks Joe Frazier and maxes out his stats, you won't have a clue. All you'll see is that your opponent is using Joe Frazier.

HEXUS has discovered a new way to clear the Xbox 360 hard drive cache. Previously, you needed to reset your Xbox 360, and hold down the A button as a game was booting up. This new code allows you to clear the entire hard drive cache:

Go to the system blade and then select memory.

Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

Well Splinter Cell got a 9.0 from the website that is most famous from completely lowballing Xbox360 titles....so I guess that says enough. I was going to pick it up either way but I always get skeptical when reviews come late.

I don't think they're lowballing Xbox 360 titles. There are really only two or three must have titles for the system. Everything else is average to above average. Happens with every console. It takes about a year before the good stuff starts coming out. Anybody with a PS2, PSP, or Xbox (took longer than a year:p ) remembers that.

Well theres no doubt that the really great titles don't hit for a year or so after the launch. But I've seen crappy ass PS2/Xbox/Gamecube games receiving the same marks as Xbox360 titles. Their reviewers are so different and out of left field that the Gamecube reviewer could give CrappyTitleA a 8.7 where as an absolute gem of a game gets released for the 360 and is lucky to break 8.3. To me thats crap....I have nothing against being harsh to games...it's the reason I love gamespot so much because they really dig deep when reviewing their games. But at least with them it's generally all across the board. With IGN the differences are just ridiculous.

I'll never forget the year IGN had an NBA Live fanboy write the NBA2k review. Talk about misleading customers.

PS2/Xbox/Gamecube titles are not reviewed under the same scale as Xbox 360 games. Xbox 360 is supposed to be next gen. Therefore, when a game like Gun or Tony Hawk comes out and it doesn't look or play like a next gen title, it's rating is going to be lower than the Xbox and PS2 versions. The reviewers want to see and play something that wasn't possible on the previous generation systems. To be honest, there aren't many Xbox 360 games right now that look and play like next gen games. However, when one shows up such as Oblivion, Fight Night Round 3 or Splinter Cell, it gets the score it deserves. The only games you'll be able to compare from most game sites are games that are all in the same generation. So for now, you have to wait until Wii and Ps3 are out to compare reviews.

Thats my exact point...grade them for what they are. And to me it's ridiculous that Saints Row and Fight Night are on par with PS2's Dance Factory, Sled Storm, Bombastic, and Magic Pengel. What those 2 games mean for the 360 are a hell of alot different then what those games mean for the PS2. I'm not saying Fight Night is a 9.8 or Saints Row is a 10...but where they generally rate the 360 games just doesn't sit right with me when I look across the way and see Knockout Kings sitting at an 8.9. To me Saint's Row should have easily crossed the 9 point barrier...not high but 9.1 at least. People NEED to play that game and 8.5 to me isn't exactly a "holy crap I gotta go out and buy that". And as for Fight Night I'm not asking for much but is an 8.8 asking too much for what that game means to the 360? Right now it's probably the best sports games released for the system when you look at what it's going up against. And while it has it's problems what it brings to the table is amazing.

I'm just saying Boxing games on the next gen systems aren't going to get much better then what we've already seen from Fight Night so are you really setting the boxing bar at what an 8.9 tops?

I see what you're saying, but Bombastic and Magic Pengel are two highly original and fun games. Can you really say that Fight Night 3 is drastically different than Fight Night 2? I didn't even have to change any of my strategies. So basically, I've already played this game before when it was called Fight Night 2. The reason the rating is low is that they still didn't fix the main problem of this game. The career mode. Single player is non existant for this game because of the terrible career mode. If you don't have friends, you won't have any fun with this game. That has to be accounted for in the ratings. Same situation with Saint's Row. It's fun, but we've already played it three times before when it was called Grand Theft Auto. Sure it improved some things (most importantly: the aiming), but it's still the same thing we've been playing for the last 4 or 5 years. It's really hard to rate the game higher when all it does is copy a game and make minor improvements while failing in other aspects.

Well I'm biased because I'm a huge fan of fight night....we had boxing tournaments over my house for months after that game came out. Single player was really an afterthought for me, I just did it to get the achievements back when I thought those were actually worth the time getting. As for Saints Row I just love the game. Where as you call it a clone (and I won't disagree what-so-ever there) to me it's the game that GTA should have always been. I absolutely love the GTA series, but theres always been that one thing that annoyed me about it....being the small time gangster is cool as hell then all of a sudden the government has your cell phone number and your retrieving jet packs from government bases and stealing low mowing equipment. That killed san andreas for me....being part of grove street was by far the coolest thing I thought GTA had ever offered...which is why I absolutely love Saints Row....you never really leave grove street and you never stop rollin on ballas.

Well I took off my intercooler yesterday because the system just turned off in the middle of me playing. I took it off to see if it was the connection from the power cord to the system, which it wasnt. It was something with the power supply. Anyway the system is actually a lot quieter without the intercooler. I am still not sure if I will put it back on or not. I will see how the heat is after a while of playing without it before I decide to put it back on or not.

My 360 has returned!! They packed a letter inside saying they have replaced my 360. I looked at the manufacturing date and it was still a unit made in 2005. New serial number. So they must take yours, throw it in a pile grab one they have already replaced the insides of, and ship it out.

Like it or not alot of people out there go by the reviews that IGN and Gamespot leave for games. Their pages don't get millions of hits a week for no reason....people wait to see what they have to say and shop accordingly. With that being said when that person owns both a 360 and a PS2 and goes onto IGN to see that Saints Row/Fight Night are rated the exact same as freakin Dance Factory well then I see a problem with that. Young kids, parents that don't really know better, and a large portion of the gaming community look at scores and rule games out immediately. I can't tell you how many people looked at the outfits score of a 6.9 and said "no thank you" before even knowing what the hell the game was about. Is the game amazing? No it's not, but I think it's a game thats worth at least a weekend of play, and at the very least a short rental. I had a friend come over one day and say "hey isn't that the war game for the 360 that absolutely sucks" and I simply said "just play it"....4 hours later he was planning when he could come over again to beat the rest of the game. Thats not a fair representation of a 6.9 game. Put the game in the 7s for the hell of it, not even above a 7.5, but at least open a few peoples eyes to the game. Everyone knows that anything below a 7 is "stay away from" material.

So like I said believe it or not if you look through this thread theres a hell of alot of referencing to people waiting for a certain game to get reviewed or people wondering if a game that only got a 8.2 was worth purchasing. It's just something that people take into account. As stupid as it may sound people care about that stuff. So if people are going to really follow what they do you'd hope they do it to the best of their ability. And like Jay said when you grade on a scale based on potential then I think you are doing people who want to go out and buy games RIGHT NOW a huge disservice.

Even "when" a game is reviewed is a big deal. Has a game been out for 3 days already and doesn't have a review up? Well looks like thats a game you'll likely want to give a pass to. Remember when Perfect Dark had been in stores for a week without anyone having the guts to review it....or how about recently when NBA Live/NBA2K7 both launched at the same time yet NBA2k had it's review out a week before the game came out and Live had it's review up a week AFTER the game came out. All of these things are telling signs on whether or not to buy a videogame. I mean I wish I could go by your philosophy of just trying out every single game out there (and believe me I've tried) but with 3 systems out by the end of next month and about a billion games to choose from I simply can't do that so word-of-mouth and online reviews are whats going to help me decide what to purchase.

i can't believe it's been almost a year since launch, and there's still only 1 fighting game out for this system (DOA4)...unless I'm missing one? Really wish MK: Armageddon would've been a 360 port, as well. I would've been all over that one.

As for game ratings. I agree with Chugga, I go by game ratings too. It's a good thing I get most of my ratings from OXM, otherwise I'd be more put off by IGN towards games. Though, I think OXM can unfarily overrate or lowball games as well. Take Full Auto for instance. OXM gave it a 6.5 and I was a little "ehhhh, I don't know if I wanna buy it now" .. but the whole premise of a racing game with guns (Burnout with guns, everyone WRONGLY called it, not a good comparison IMO, that's what got it the low rating I think) ... The premise is neat. And the gameplay is fun. I still bought, because I ultimately wanted it, and played it and had a blast. It's fun getting to blow your opponent away. Playing on Live with friends is great fun. However, yes, it did have it's problems. 1) Not enough cars, well, that was too bad, the most minor of the problems. 2) Not enough tracks, that could make the game get old kind of fast. 3) You couldn't mix and match weapons sets. 4) Another minor quip, but the destructable scenery, was more eye candy than it was a component of gameplay. It could hamper your car or your opponents car, but not all that much. And comparing it to Burnout was what hurt it the most. It easliy deserved a 7 or a 7.5. Had it got those ratings, I wouldn't have been "ehhhhh" when I saw the low rating in OXM.

OXM gave it a low rating for some some seriously ******ed reasons too. One of the biggest ones being "No backstory" ... yet they didn't hesitate to compare it with Burnout, which guess what, has NO backstory.

One other Full Auto thing .. personally, I would love ot see a sequel. A little better done. More cars, definitely MORE tracks, customizeable weapons sets, more variety in the weapons sets, and exploding scenery that did alter the map. Maybe a train gets blown off the rails and the tracks come down creating a ramp to jump over it, or you drive along the tracks for a while.

As for ratings again. They gave Just Cause an 8.5, but I asked a friend playing the game, and he said it was a rental at best. So, now, that I know, I can wait and buy the game 6 months from now much cheaper and not feel I wasted 60 bucks.

I get a british mag every now and again for their game trailer dvd packed in. Their reveiws are by far the worst I've seen. Gave GRAW a 7.5, and turned around and gave Just cause a 9.0.

I think IGN do lowball them a bit, I don't really even consider OXM's, theirs are waaaay off IMO, gamespot seems to be ok, although I think they go a bit low too on some I'd rate higher.

But I do find reveiws helpful. NHL07 for example, before it was out, it was nice to read about the new control system. Without taking into account what multiple reviewers had to say, you'd be left with a totally blind purchase on that one. And what if the new scheme didn't work, you'd be screwed. It's nice to see what sties have to say for sports options, like Chugga said, NHL07/2K7 NBA games. I don't know anyone who buys both, just to see which is better.

I have it on PSP. It's basically Tetris with music. Go read the PSP review for Lumines on any site for an explanation of the game. It's hard to explain. It's an okay game, but it's highly overrated. Definitely not worth 1200 points and not worth the 9 or 10 rating that it has on every site. I don't think I've played it since the first month that I bought the PSP.

I read that too....the custom pack is another 600 making it 1800 points total for, essentialy, the 'full' game...not cool at all! I have yet to even try it yet as I couldn't sign on to Live last night. I have a feeling the g/f might like it and she hasn't played the 360 in a while. I'll leave it up to her if she wants to purchase the game.

Well after putting in some minimal playtime in Splinter Cell I was pretty impressed. They just dropped me off at a level thats in complete sunlight so I'm going to approach this level with extreme caution. I finally got to one of those "moral" moments last night where you have to do something that either goes completely against what you've been taught to do or makes you look bad in the eyes of the terrorists. LOL, tell me about it! For my original xbox, the wireless adapter only supports WEP. I wasn't comfortable have my PC on a network that was only WEP. So I got another router and have my original xbox on that router using WEP and I have all my other wireless devices on a seperate router using WPA.

Theres some games that simply defy the scoring systems. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is one....Gears of War is another, Final Fantasy is another. You could rate these games 5.5's and I'd still buy them. Then after I bought them I'd come to this message board and complain about how badly they got lowballed.

I'm in the other boat. I have the money, but this is the kind of race where I can only support the winner. I still laugh at all the fools with their betamax. There is no doubt that one of these two will become betamax, so I think I can be patient long enought to wait for the outcome.

i completely agree with you. Plus making my decision easier is that I rarely buy DVDs anymore...so I'm not planning to go out and buy a bunch of HD-DVDs anyway.

When they have HD-DVD's in mainstream rental stores, then I'd consider getting the player.

Going through 2 floors shouldn't be a huge problem depending on the construction of your home.

I have an old Linksys Wireless-B router. It works, but I wasnt sure if I'd need to upgrade to something faster.

I take it your happy w/ your G Spped Booster.

Im trying to decide if I should buy a faster router. or buy 40 ft of ethernet cable and run it through the floor.

Yeah, I really do like the router... but the Speedbooster is only necessary if you have a matching wireless card.

So i'm going to attempt to join the ranks of the 360 crew here finally... i had a ipod at bestbuy that was broken but had service plan on it...they lost it... so i just got a 30 gig ipod video for free... the girl never took it out of the packaging...score...so I think i'm going to attempt to return it at Target tomorrow and then pay the rest for a 360 $150 + tax for a 360... booya... I'm crossing my fingers that target will let me exchange it even though i dont have a recipt from there...

Then in 2 weeks i get my quarterly bonus from work... im buying a LCD tv... xmas is coming early this yr...and just in time for gears of war

I just beat Splinter Cell....pretty fun game, some of the levels were amazing...mainly those that take place in the daylight. One of the missions in Africa basically throws you in the middle of a turf war...tanks, machine gun nests, etc all stuff you gotta get by unseen.

My friggin xbox broke again!!! :mad: ... My wife and I were watching a movie. SPKT!!! ... Screen froze. Restarted the xbox and got those three nifty red lights. Woo friggin hoo. This will be the third time I've had to return a system. Of course the last time I did it was back in Feb I think. And there's a 90 day warranty on it right? ... So maybe I can talk them into doing it for free since it's the THIRD time and all. To be fair, the second time I sent one back was when they sent me one that wouldn't connect to Live.

Yeah, I found this out AFTER I bought the game from Best Buy the other day. :(

They said I can go back with the receipt and get the 12 month card though, so I think I'm going to do that.

The next release on Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade platform, Midway's Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, was surprisingly—and mistakenly—released to the downloading sharks of North America yesterday, who, at the smell of fresh arcade blood, snagged the classic fighter. Classic? I know it's a stretch.
And just as quickly as it appeared, the download was gone. Fortunately, some of our quick witted readers were able to complete the 43MB download and sent us some pics for proof.
UMK3 will unfortunately boot players off XBL after a short period but reader Dan was able to play long enough to net some of the game's Acheivements.
The game was then re-released to Live around 1AM PST, but according to Major Nelson's blog and MS community manager Arne, users are still having a hard time finding UMK3, with the XBL team looking into the issue. I'm sure they'll get their beheaded ducks in a row soon enough and we'll all be enjoying ripping eachother limb from limb before Monday hits. Michael McWhertor
