Is it normal for the 360 to make circular scratches around the disk? It does that to all my games.

so i pickedup rainbow 6 lastnight and the webcam... i had so much friggin fun with that thing... I forgot how much i love the streets map from those old version of the game an the new design of it is amazing. I played terrorist hunt with 3 other friends and it was hard as hell. when the game is not playing, it just lays on that plastic tray. IMO, that cant be good. when its standing upright, it doesnt lay on the tray. Its just standing on its side.

I don't know that it would categorically be "bad" but I do know that several people have reported "circular" scratches on their discs from vertically standing their 360. I had a problem with my PS2 a few years back for the same issue.

I would save more room if I stood mine up, but just to be safe I've laid mine down.

This was EA's way of trying to take advantage of the microtransaction scheme (more like a pyramid scheme with Microsoft and the other game companies on top and us at the bottom). They were originally going to make us pay for the extra uniforms that were free on Xbox/PS2/PSP/Gamecube/etc. Finally, they realized it probably wouldn't work so they released them for free.

Be glad you don't have to pay for them. I'm sure plenty of idiots would've paid big money for what amounts to a simple color change (easy coding for any programmer). For the Giants and Texans, you just change the home jersey to red. I'm sure that took them all of five seconds to do. Only the Bills, Chargers and maybe one other team required any additional work, but it still wasn't much.

I'm not trying to defend the decision from EA's standpoint. I agree that it's stupid that they took what was free and now want to charge for it.

From a consumer's standpoint, they're buying something they want. Whether it used to be free or not is irrelevant - if they want it, they'll do what it takes to get it. If that means buying it, then so be it. Who am I to call them a name because they went out and bought what they wanted?

1st Xbox that broke I still had a store warrenty on

2nd Xbox that broke it took a week for the box to get here then a week for me to send out/receive it. Getting the actual box is the longest part

3rd Xbox that broke I take back to the store tomorrow, right now I'm brainstorming on how I can keep my HD

You are supposed to send in your standard xbox as chances are you won't be getting the same one in. Take off any extra stuff you have whether it be hard-drive faceplates, etc and just send them the factory system.

You'll likely be getting a completely different xbox in return.

Not to gloat.....but I had one of the best GeOW experiences in quite some time last night.

Unfortunately...it took a little while to get to that point. I just kept randomly joining ranked execution games.....got a bunch a kids a few times...some real A-holes a couple of times....then I came across a random room. 8 different people who had no idea who the next person was. Everyone was really cool with each other. But the best part was this....the host had some ungodly connection (t1 or t3 I think). The 8 of us were scattered everywhere from FL to NY to Cali to TX to MO (host) and not one of us experienced any of the BS that usually resides in many of our games. If you pulled the trigger first...you got the kill...everyone's shotgun worked...not just the host's. Hell...even the lancers were potent. Not one person *****ed....if you got killed...it was because the other guy was faster/better at that moment and afterwards it was laughed about....not *****ed about. It just had an overall awesome vibe and all 8 of us kept jumping into the same room and probably played about 7 maps (9 rounds each) before the host finally had to go to bed. It was just cool to finally play some rounds where all 8 people were on an even playing field.

Thats what annoys me about my Xbox360 breaking down yesterday I found a great group of people in ranked matches. I was just searching for random matches yesterday found a bunch of awful ones (mainly one with cory where a guy was glitching the entire time and running around in parts of the map that didn't exsist) but this one group of guys was cool as hell. I didn't really care about the connection, I'm so used to bits of lag now that it's not really a big deal.

We didn't get 8 of the same people consistantly but we always ran 4 of us on the same team vs. 4 randoms who came in. I got a ton of boomshot kills then they all of a sudden wanted to run rooftops 4 times in a row and I was out.

Bestbuy let me swap my old hd out with the one on the new 360 they gave me. Same with the cables. It's a pain the arse to take my wall unit apart so I took a shot and just returned it without the cables. No problem they just took the new ones from the box they were giving me.

It's those 12 digits above the barcode in the picture - that's your serial number - the font is much larger on those. I think you'll also find the serial number if you take a peek in the front flap that hides the 2 usb ports

You look at the rankings while you're under the "versus" menu in the game, Scott. I wouldn't worry so much about the overall ranking (left side) versus the total points (right side). If you're worried more about the achievements, then you'll want to tally up the numbers from each game mode (Warzone, Execution, Assassination).

I had a fun time last night. It was nice to get the achievements, but it ended up fun overall. It's too bad Vinny can't finish a game, though. :p

I'm not on my 4th but I'm still plugging away hoping and praying that one of these days I get a system that I can keep for the long haul. As long as you have the extended warranty theres really nothing to worry about. I got the warrenty from gamestop and went in today with only the 360 in hand (kept all the wires, hd, remotes, controllers, etc at home) and they just swapped me a new 360. It's annoying as hell having one break but you did the smart thing and got the warranty so it's not really a big deal.

The key is to blindfire the bow until it's completely pulled back then come out of cover to shoot it. The other person should just always have a sniper rifle equipped

Oh, and instead of Vegas, I came home with a Wii finally. Pissed as hell I can't find an extra controller though. I went from store to store to store to store and nobody had any. What the hell??!!

I think you normally have either 2 weeks or 30 days at Futureshop... but you can also buy extended warranty through Microsoft.

The warranty on the 360 is now 1 year and if you used a credit card to purchase it check to see if the card doubles the warranty.

Didn't see it posted on here, but the Halo 3 Beta is going to be included with Crackdown. I think they just guaranteed 2 million in sales for Crackdown. It reminds me of the Zone of Enders/ Metal Gear Solid 2 Demo that was released. Zone of Enders sold so many copies and it wasn't even that great.

Also, I'm not really a big fan of the Lost Planet demo, but I'll get it if we're going to have enough people buying it to have solid multiplayer sessions. Anybody planning on buying this?

Just now giving it a try....months after almost everyone else has beaten it. This game could literally be played for months.....there's just soooooooo much crap you can do...so many different character types you could make/design.

You'll need persuasion as you get farther into the game. Right now if you persuade shop keepers you'll be able to barter better with them and get lower prices on goods. Later on as the game progresses you'll have to get information out of certain people who really don't like you. So you'll have to do alot of persuading to get them to tell you any sort of information. Alot of times in the game you'll need 1 clue to help you out...the person may hate you (30) but the clue isn't available until they like you at (50). So you have to persuade all the way up. And when you get really good at persuading and can get people up into the 70's they'll spill the beans on anything you want them to. Forget about getting a clue they'll just tell you everything you need to know.

Ok i'll try to explain the persuasion thing but I dunno if it will make sense lol.

Basicually when you start, the person you are persuading has a number for their disposition, the higher the number the more they like you/the more information they'll tell you. It ranges from 0-100, most people you meet start off in the 40-60 range.

Right when you start, you see the 4 quadrants, as you select each quadrant you'll see them make different faces. Usually there's one they like, one they kinda like, one they dislike, and one they hate. You can tell this by judging the face that the make.

Now each quadrant is also filled with yellow triangles of varying sizes. They greater the size gives a greater effect when you select it. So, when you select the quadrant that they dislike, it will *always* make their disposition go down, but if you select it with the smallest yellow triangle it may only go down by 3, while if you selected the biggest yellow triangle it could go down by 20.

So the idea is to select a big yellow thing for the things they like, and the small ones for the ones they dislike, which will overall increase their disposition once you go through all four. Of course you have to plan it ahead of time for where it's going to rotate.

Hopefully this helps, it's really very simple once you get the hang of it (even with a low speech craft skill), and I'm sure much simpler than it sounds with me trying to explain it. :)

treemonkey/chugga - I understand how it woks....but I don't understand what it accomplishes. Once I'm done with the persuading....nothing happens. The only thing I see happening is the bribe amount either goes up or down. Is it because i keep persuading people who have nothing to offer in the first place?? Keep in mind....I'm level 3 and the only thing I've done so far is kill two guys in the arena......haven't even delivered the jewel to Jauffree yet. But I was able to leave the arena after my second fight (it had closed after 9pm) and steal the lockbox filled with all the bets - 500 gold :)

If you want to get invite to both guilds and kill 2 birds with 1 stone kill someone walking around in the city...the guards will come to arrest you..accept the jail time. You'll get a visit from someone in the dark brotherhood for killing an innocent and you'll get a visit for someone in the thieves guild for serving jail time.

Yes it's worth it...and you should be able to find it cheaply now...do not spen $60 on it...I got a used copy (good as new...no scrathes) for $15.

What I really like about it is the fighting is different then usual rpgs. Usually...you have a target box around an enemy...click a button...then an action is performed agianst the target.....not so in this RPG....you need to aim....if you want to cast lighnting or a fireball at an enemy...there is no target box...you'd better aim good enough to hit them...same with your sword or bow....no attacks are automatic. It definitely takes some getting used to with the weapons...but the ability to switch from 1st person to 3rd is nice. I usually use 3rd for sword fighting and first person for casting spells and using a bow.

Thats what I was saying before to pyrrhonist. Would be cool as hell if you could raid dungeons with 2 people. Closing Oblivion Gates is such a crazy thing that it almost makes sense with 2 people doing it. But unfortunately Oblivion is based in a world that can only have 1 true hero. If there was a 2nd guy running around rivaling the first one then it wouldn't make for much of a story since the entire world is basically on your shoulders....not you and your friends shoulders.

Without giving anything away it's basically the "murder mystery" quest. It's like the only quest in the game that can either take 2 seconds to finish or 2 days and the 2 days part is FAR better.

I put Oblivion in for the first time over the New Years' weekend (So I could download Mehrune's Razor for free), but I still didn't start playing. I was too eager to play some Rainbow Six finally, that I skipped out. I've absolutely got to play this weekend. To be completely honest and I know pyrrhonist is going to shoot me for saying this but I'm not huge on the R6 online. I like the co-op and the terrorist hunt are good too but I can't get behind the online setting too much. When I leave Gears to go play R6 it almost feels like I'm taking a step down.

Thats not to say R6 is a bad game, like I said I love the co-op and co-op hunts but competitive online is blah. Oblivion will likely be the next game I really focus on.

Yeah, at first the graphics looked really pretty, but it just seems like the gameplay isn't there.

Why is this **** fun to people? Like why is team killing, spawn camping, glitching, etc. Fun? Like I want an honest answer. All I do when I get in a game with that stuff happening is leave, immediately. I then just find another server, and play. I don't cry myself to sleep at night, I don't even curse, I just ignore it. Does this drive people, to get people to leave and take 4 seconds to hop on another server? Wow, thats so much the funny LOLOLOLOL. Like, I want to ask people that do this what exactly is the enjoyment out of it, as a serious study, for scientific reasons, needs to be done on spawn camping. Like what do you prove?

My main problem with rainbow six really doesn't have much to do with rainbow six at all as much as the genre. Overall I hate shooters....even more then that I hate to take shooters online. I give them all a go whether it be call of duty, ghost recon, battlefield whatever....but when it's all said and done I generally hate them for their lack of teamwork and just overall cocaine-like gameplay. Where people are rewarded for circle strafing and jumping all over the place like a crazed lunatic while firing off 50 rounds of machine gun ammo. R6 isn't exactly like that but when you go online the whole cover aspect kinda gets left in the dust because entirely too many people are running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to find the nearest enemy.

Gears of War is literally the only game I've ever played that doesn't suffer from this issue. Sure every once and a while you'll get the God-host who will toss all aspects of strategy out the window but overall you get rewarded for playing smart. Rainbow6, Call of Duty, etc etc just not big on the "oh well I died, I've got 5 seconds until I respawn". I like the fact that in Gears of War when you die you are sitting on the sidelines until the match is over. Does away with the vast majority of problems you see in games now whether it be spawn campers, rushers, kamakazees, etc.

Microsoft Crosses 10 million Xbox 360s Sold, Announces Xbox 360 Can Be IPTV Set-Top

Bill Gates and Robbie Bach are expected to announce at the Consumer Electronics Show that Microsoft has sold more than 10.4 million Xbox 360s since the launch in November, 2005. That means Microsoft has also hit its targets for sales of consoles during the holidays.

Microsoft is also dropping something of a bomb at the show. Jim Brady, a spokesman for Microsoft, said Gates and Bach will say in the keynote speech Sunday night at the Venetian Hotel that the Xbox 360 will be able to serve as a set-top box for IPTV, or Internet protocol television. The details on this announcement are sketchy and Brady says only that it will appear later this year.

If you can get your television, movies, music and other entertainment downloaded from the telephone companies such as AT&T -- a major IPTV provider that is using Microsoft's IPTV software -- and have it accessible through your Xbox 360, what else do you need? For sure, there are a ton of unanswered questions here. But the prospects are interesting. Could AT&T give away Xbox 360s for free in exchange for users signing up for subscriptions to IPTV service, which gives high-definition programs, video on demand, and digital video recording? Will Microsoft have to come out with a larger hard disk drive for the Xbox 360 in order to allow it to fulfill the digital video recording function? Brady declined to comment. He did say that no consumers would be left behind, meaning that all of the 10 million plus Xbox 360s in the market would be able to participate in the IPTV services at some level.

Brady says gamers have shown that they like Xbox Live Marketplace and are downloading videos and music more than Microsoft anticipated already, even with the small 20-gigabyte hard disk on the Xbox 360.

In other details, Microsoft declined to say how many Zune music/video players it sold during the holidays. It will only say that it is targeting 1 million sold by June 30. There over 5 million Xbox Live members, though the paid portion is not borken out. Marketplace downloads, messages and other features are exceeding expectations.

Lastly, Nintendo hasn't yet disclosed how many Wiis it sold during the holidays. But Beth Lewellyn, a spokeswoman for Nintendo of America, said that sales in North America exceeded Nintendo's expectations. Nintendo predicted it would sell four million consoles worldwide by Dec. 31, but she could not confirm that number.

A friend and I rented Ghost Reacon: Advanced Warfighter. Critically acclaimed and excellent reviews were the main reasons but also the (1-4) co-op fact we rented. So we played however all we could see was the bloody aimer. I was pissed...I wanted to see the guy (over the shoulder view [like G.O.W]). We tried and failed. Then learnt you could only use over the shoulder view in single-player. So I agreed to play (as pissed as I was) and it was very fun. Overall fantastic multiplayer. However if it did inlcude the over-the-shoulder-view I would definitely rate the multiplayer as best yet. I'm just hoping they'll include the view in G.R.A.W. 2.

I'm really enjoying this latest Oblivion campaign. Even though I poured 115 hours into my original game, I'm still discovering many new things this time around.

I'm about 40 hours into this one as a true mage, already at 100 for Illusion, Conjuration, Restoration and at 94 for Destruction.

In order to train to the highest levels in destruction you have to collect 20 bear pelts for this lizard beyotch...anyone know any easy way to get this done? Destruction takes a hell of a long time to level up.

January 2, 2007 - This past year was a bit slow on the role playing game front. While a few heavy hitters came out, the majority of 2006 was a bit on the ho-hum side of things. 2007 is shaping up to be anything but slow and one of the games that will come out of the gates early is Two Worlds (http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/815/815215.html). Due out this spring for Xbox 360 and PC, Two Worlds is expected to fill in a bit of the gap that is opening now that people are finally getting their fill of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Though a hardware failure prevented us from seeing the game in motion when the powers that be stopped by to give us a sneak peak, we were able to shoot a few questions their way to learn more about this RPG in the making.

The comparisons to the Elder Scrolls series, the definitive open world RPG experience, are inevitable. Like Oblivion, Two Worlds gives players the freedom to choose which type of character they would like to control and how they would like to tackle the numerous quests at hand. Unlike Oblivion, Two Worlds will be playable online with up to eight players. Though it won't be ready for launch, we were told that the game would eventually have support for PC and Xbox 360 users to play together. PC users will be able to create their own maps and quests and then upload them for others to use. When asked about Xbox 360 owners getting access to the PC created maps, we were told that feature is listed under the "maybe with Microsoft approval" column right now.

In classic fantasy game fashion, the fighting will be done via medieval weaponry and magic. Swords, bows, axes, and spells will all be present with what we are told will be a unique upgrade system. Similar to the way card games are played, spells can be mixed by stacking them upon one another. Likewise, weapons can be upgraded and enchanted. Magic in Two Worlds exists in five schools; fire, wind, earth, water, and necromancy. Necromancy, as you might guess, is somewhat of a dark magic that requires players to go on a quest to unlock. We don't know for certain, but it seems that unleashing necromancy on the world might have some devilish consequences. One interesting side note to the spell mixing is that once you create a new spell, you can register it online and name it. If you're the first one to do so, that's the name that will stick in the online world.

The Two Worlds engine is all proprietary, so we are in the dark as to how this game will perform until we can get a first-hand look at it. The level of visual detail you can gather from the newest screens. As far as how much you can interact with the environment, we've been told to expect a lot ranging from realistic deformation of grass and snow as the player treads on it to laying traps for enemies and setting off avalanches. We'll have more on how well this all plays out in motion once we've had a chance to see the physics and collision detection in person.

If you don't have an HDTV, the text is too small to read without sitting really close to your TV. It's not a problem for me anymore since I recently bought an HDTV, but I'm still not happy with them for screwing us over.

Anybody have any secrets to leveling up faster in Dead Rising that maybe I haven't heard of. I'm just running around the mall killing zombies and taking photos for tons of PP but that just takes forever. I decided to not do any of the scoops until I get a level I am comfortable with (i.e.more health boxes,more weapon slots,better stats etc.) It is pretty much impossible to level up fast this way because the rest of the mall opens up after some select scoops. It is just so irritating with this nonsensical save system that I got so far with scoops on only a level 8 only to meet my demise by Adam the mother ****ing clown (lol) and the convicts (I tend to run past them and save them for later because they are really a pain in the ass). Well I'm level 11 now and still not gaining any ground any time soon. Even taking those goofy erotica upskirt photos of the zombie in the skimpy dress doesn't gain you much PP fast enough. I don't know,I just need help. I'm going to buy the strategy guide(I know laugh it up).

Oblivion is now the game to play. I downloaded all of the expansions last night (aside from horse armor) and it's been a blast so far. Knights of the Nine was the first thing I stumbled across. This time around I vowed I wouldn't use fast travel and I'd actually experience the "world" and experiencing the world meant the first part of that quest took like 2 hours. Believe it or not the only traveling by foot/horse has actually been pretty fun though. You come across alot of weird stuff all over the world....a bunch of really cool dungeons I NEVER would have seen otherwise.

Well, it was clearly a problem since they claimed they were going to fix it. They even promised to fix it on their message board. What did they do instead? They doubled the advertising for Dead Rising and told us that they wouldn't fix it. What's even worse is that they wouldn't tell anybody that they weren't going to fix it. No...there is no super easy way to level up....either grind it out...or start the story with the level you got.

Saving people gives you tons of PP points. Also head down to the Tunnels and get yourself a car and go on a driving rampage down there. You will kill over 50,000 zombies that way.

Well if it makes it any better I was talking about Oblivion because I wanted to, not to spite you.

As for leveling up just keep saving people. You don't have to actually fight any of the bosses if they are giving you problems, wait until another play through after you get more health.

It's alright man, nothing personal. I just got annoyed because I figured my question would go unanswered if I didn't speak up and I'm also extremely frusturated with this game. Chugga, you know saving people can actually turn it to quite the ***** as well. For example, forget where (maybe, Al Fresca Plaza) I broke into a barricade to save two armed guys inside a store,one of them hit me un-provoked with a melee weapon to take away two boxes of health (keep in mind I still have default health boxes) and the other one followed me. I cleared out a huge path in the extensive zombie gang that had now smelled my flesh and congregated outside the store, some piled in. Anyways, I cleared the path and yelled for the ****** to follow. He started off fine and listened to my orders, then he goes out of his way to begin fighting of hordes and hordes of the undead only to skip to a cutscene where the ignorant ***** meets his demise after a zombie eats his large intestine and bites off his ear. What a waste,I go all that way to save two people when I have to murder one of them with a pick-axe just to save my own skin and the other was even dumber than the zombies and pretty much commits suicide throwing himself at the undead. ***? Trying to save people in Dead Rising is like trying to teach a dead dog new tricks?

Back to Oblivion...I'm re-thinking playing as a thief.......I can't friggin kill anyone....not even innocent bystanders....not even with the sneak attack damage bonus...I get my ass kicked by the Elf Sisters in the arena basically every day. The thief just doesn't do enough damage to actually go far in the game. Sure......I can pick just about any lock...I can sneak around in the shadows and no one even knows I'm there.......but in the storyline of the game...I'm gonna have to kill certain people....and when they know I'm coming for them...I don't stand a chance with my whole 80 hit points (and that's at lvl 6)....I saw your lvl 1 has 120 HP....w t f ?

Yeah, the time limit is nonsense as you virtually have no time to complete everything the game throws at you the first play-through and there is just so much! Dying in the middle of the game is controller throwing frusturating thanks in full to the save sytem from hell. Leveling up is tedious and time consuming but has to be done if you want to live. The fighting does need major work and Otis just keeps calling and calling and calling. If you ignore his calls, he calls back every 5 seconds. He gives important scoop info but you cannot jump,fight, or do anything but evade zombies while you listen to his mumbo jumbo! Great game in my opinion but has major,major flaws!

real easy way, is to make your way to the tunnels, hop in a car, and just run over zombies for awhile. There are 1000's of zombies down there. make sure your driving towards another car, because after a while your car will stall out from damage.

Anyone here connect their 360 with the wireless adapter AND have successfully streamed content from their home computer over a wireless network (home computer is wireless as well)? Specifically using Windows Media Player 11.

WMP 11 sees my 360, but my 360 doesn't seem to see the computer. I've opened all the recommened ports on my wireless router (Linksys Wireless G with speed booster), but I've had zero luck.

Hey guys I think I am going to get an xbox as well. I was at a friends house on Saturday in fact there were 6 of and we played ghost recon 4 of us on the same team vs computer. WOW that was fun. But now I have a few questions if you guys dont mind.
1st: We played something where you had to do different things in like 30 min. you can pick 15 min etc. Could we do the same thing online? Next there was an option for 2 xbox's is is possible to have the 6 of us playing on the same team with 2 xbox's and 2 games? I am talking about ghost recon again.

make your path so there is always a car when you knock off the bombs. I dont know the exact path anymore, but if you do it right, there will always be another car. also, if you run out of cars, go upstairs, and then back down and a car will reappear

I have a problem. I just finished Gears of War and am now trying to play Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, but when I put the game in and power it up, I get a screen that says "To play this disc, put it into an Xbox 360 console." No ****, where did you think I was putting it? Anyone encounter this, and if so, what do I do? Is it a game problem, or an Xbox problem.

I think it's a 360 problem... power up first and then put the game in. Or try the "play game" option when you're in the dashboard.

I can go back and play Gears without problem. It's werid. On the dashboard I only have a "Play DVD" option, even in the games section.

I'd have to say it's the disc - does it appear scratched or anything? I've had a couple bad discs from rentals where you put the disc in and it says "reading" but nothing happens for about 20 seconds, then it just says "Open Tray" again.

make your path so there is always a car when you knock off the bombs. I dont know the exact path anymore, but if you do it right, there will always be another car. also, if you run out of cars, go upstairs, and then back down and a car will reappearThanks. I did the run upstairs trick. I just beat the game this morning but didn't get any overtime. Now I gotta go through and beat it again.

That took entirely too long to setup but I'm glad we at least got one 17 rounder out of it. I was a huge fan of that game too, we were really getting our @$$es whooped until we realized the ONLY weapon that guy knew how to use was the grenades and then when he couldn't get them anymore he quit. I just personally had a fun time using the sniper rifle, I had never picked it up until last night.

January 8, 2007 - IGN's brothers in arms, TeamXbox, is reporting that RedOctane is set to reveal details on the 360 version of Guitar Hero II Tuesday. According to a press release, which TeamXbox acquired, the 360 version of GH 2 is coming this March and includes more than 70 tracks. Gamers can expect ten 360-exclusive songs to go with the 64 tracks from the PS2 version.

The ten new songs, all of which are unlockable in career mode, are not cheap additions as some might have feared. Among the stellar new tracks are "Billion Dollar Babies" by Alice Cooper, "Dead!" by My Chemical Romance, "Hush" by Deep Purple, "Life Wasted" by Pearl Jam, "Rock 'n' Roll Hoochie Koo" by Rick Derringer, "Possum Kingdom" by Toadies, "Salvation" by Rancid and "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden.

While the majority of tracks will be covers, as is the standard for Guitar Hero II, both "Dead!" and "Possum Kingdom" are listed as "master tracks," meaning they are the original recordings. The final two tracks remain unrevealed, leaving us to hold out hope that Hendrix will make his 360 debut this spring.

Along with a swanky new white guitar and ten bonus tracks, Xbox gamers can enjoy many of the staples of 360 gaming with Guitar Hero II. Achievement points, leaderboards, dashboard themes and picture packs, and downloadable songs are all planned. In fact, RedOctane is planning to have downloadable songs available at launch so that gamers can expand their Guitar Hero playlist immediately. Details on downloadable content is expected in February.

He was all over the map. Just not having grenades crippled him. You could tell he was there for achievements ONLY because none of the standard weapons he even bothered using. At first he rushed us with a pistol and died...then he rushed us with grenades and we took those away from him...then he picked up the sniper and I popped his head off at least 2 times and cory shotgun blasted the back of his head a couple times too.

God forbid the guy actually use a lancer or a shotgun and tried working with your team. Last night could have been a REALLY close game but the minute it became obvious that your teammate was a one trick pony I think we went on like an 11 game win streak or something like that.

But anyways I can't wait to try out the new maps....I'll likely be on tonight, but I'll probably stray away from ranked matches until I learn where the hell all the weapons are on the new stuff.

I couldn't wait so I bought it for PS2 when it came out. I'm really dissappointed that I can't play it on my PS3. I'll be buying the same game again just for the extra songs, but I wish the guitar was wireless (I sit pretty far back from my TV). Microsoft is really holding on to that proprietary wireless format aren't they? Don't they realize that they could make money by licensing the technology?

Ok they definately aren't up right now and like Microsoft said will likely be up the 10th which is tomorrow....but I did have to download a patch for Gears of War and a patch for Oblivion. Not sure what the updates were though

The Gears patch that went live today addressed the following:

Reduced the distance of grenade tagging melee
Can't start a ranked match with uneven teams
Increased penalty for leaving ranked match
Fixed voice chat bugs

Few other things as well.

I'm most psyched about the reduced distance of grenade tagging. After I retired from grenades I realized exactly how annoying they were. Don't get me wrong I'll still use them on occassion but not like before. I think the way they were originally thrown into the game didn't work out exactly as planned. They were always supposed to be a suprise technique. Catch a sniper off-guard tag him and run away to safety. But as time went on with the stretch armstrong tags and basically an Al Queda mentality they went downhill.

Exactly, Chugga. They were probably intended to be used like a rogue would be - break in, tag a guy, boom. Not run somewhat close, tag a guy and take out 2 for the price of 1.

I originally thought Grenade taggers had skill - then I did it for a few games and saw it took very little skill at all.

The only taggers that have skill are the ones that can tag you and get away. I used to be really good at that...tag someone get the hell away then tag a 2nd person and get the hell away. I remember on a level with the helipad I had to have at least 20 kills while dying barely at all.

The problem is the radius of damage changes all the time so skill is somewhat thrown out the window. Last night I was a mile and a half away from Pyrrhonist and exploded into a million pieces. Other nights I'll mess up on my roll and be 2 inches away from the guy I tagged and come out of it unharmed.

I've become accustomed to dealing with shotgun guys these days. The closer you are to the guy, the harder it is for him to hit you (odd, I know). Think of it this way. The shotgun blast goes out in a cone. The closer you are, the smaller the radius of the cone. So it's simple to sidestep the shot. With practice, you can easily chainsaw any shotgun toting bastard out there (which was previously thought to be the end-all solution to the chainsaw).

Also, you can easily chainsaw grenade taggers. Just rev it up as they roll in on you.

The shotgun is a good weapon, but too many people think it's the best weapon.

I can't lie---I wasn't happy at all with last night's dallying with setting up a single game. We should have been playing from the get-go (8:30pm PST), but we took forever. Between smbdyfnkillme's frozen Xbox (And then mine later), and then that Kenny guy being unable to find any of the damn games, it was a nightmare. The night was almost lost when the 4th guy on the other team ended up being not only an annoying one-trick pony, but a quitter, as well. Thankfully we were able to finish the night out. Strangely enough, I ended up going 1 more game with KillaB, and we had a quicker time setting up and going with total strangers than we did with our own people. Wow. :confused:


And for the record, I only need 12 more grenade tags to get my 30 points. I can't wait to be done with it, because I hate tagging. :mad:
