just picked up Rainbow 6 Vegas today. Only got to play it for about 30 minutes or so, but so far I LOVE IT! I'm not quite through the streets of Mexico yet. I do have a question though...

when you have a down teammate, is there a function that allows you to locate them fast like in Gears? I had a downed mate but I was under heavy fire and had a hard time locating him before I died myself...

definitely a recommended purchase for anyone on the fence about R6V

Don't know how it is in Gears, but all you can do is look around or check your radar.

absolutely, dude. I will do that for sure next time we're on together. You know, now that you mention the MP5 and all, I just realized what all that was when you hold the X button. I figured out the silencer, but I didn't realize what the different groupings of bullets were (yeah, I didn't read the instructions yet at all :)) That will help tremendously now. I was wondering why I kept running out of ammo so quickly ;)

Tiny Oblivion spoilers I suppose....

Interesting thing just happened in Oblivion. So anyways I'm in the thieves guild now stealing stuff since it's my job of course. Well one of the quests I get is "steal the arch-mages staff". Sounds pretty tough, until I remember I'm the arch-mage. The guards that I'm supposed to sneak by are welcoming me back home....I need to head into my own bedroom steal the staff from my own desk, and then slip a note threatening the arch-mage (me) into my own cabinet. The locks I was supposed to have to pick were opened by my own key to my own house.

Anyways just a weird quest crossover in the game. So any of you aspiring Mages/Thieves do the mage part first so you can have the easiest quest in the world later in the game.

I don't know...technically you aren't really supposed to be in a ton of different guilds....I just do it so that I can say I have a character whos done it all. Every once and a while you'll get a crossover....thieves guild crosses over the most mainly because you are just robbing so many different places.

Ya I see what you mean. Couple of my friends played that game and they were both in the thieves guild and the magic guild (I think thats what it was). And my other friend became a vampire in it. I myself have not played Oblivion. I never really got into it. But the way some of you guys talk, it sounds like a game I guess you have to actually play to enjoy. Because I sat and watched while my friends played and found it boring. Maybe Ill give it a shoot after all. :D

I've beaten every Tony Hawk game that was ever made and this game is still a big challenge for me. I'm currently ranked number 9 (just outside Project 8). If you're up for a challenge, go buy it as soon as possible.

Ive played and pretty much owned every Tony Hawk game. I just wanted to know if this one was any good. The demo makes it look amazing, specially the graphics.

i've never done it, but I don't believe it matters whether names are on it or not. Editing the players names is not a requirement for the NCAA game so I can't see why it would be a requirement for importing purposes on Madden. Maybe MAdden just reassigns fake names to draft class players like it does for the regular draft.

Indeed, it is. For quite possibly the easiest time ever, you should do either Terrorist Hunt or Story Mode with 3-4 players co-op. It's outstanding, and helps build your kill counts up. The only drawback is you only get a measly 100 XP points. :mad:

I'm at what I believe to be the final level in the single player story mode, as well. I've made some decent progress on this game this past week. It's a great game.

I played the Lost Planet online demo last night. I thought it was pretty fun, controls took me a bit to get use too. But it was fun. I like the mecs, or whatever they are called. :D Some of the weapons are sweet too. If the game itself is anything like the online play it should be a really good game. Anybody who has the game is it worth picking up? Is the storyline good so far?

I called Best Buy customer service and they said that I could switch my old hard drive with the one from the replacement but everyone I've talked to told me that this is not so. Anyone done this before?

I'm loving the single player game on this... i cant wait to beat it and try it on realistic...

about the terrorist hunt... what you can do to get a bunch of experience points is to set it to realistic high people... select the Library map... and make your way to the security room(the room thats under the 2 glass hallways) and chill there... they will come at you from the top of the stairs and the back door... and each person gets about 500 - 600 XP per round and it takes about 10mins around

ohh and grab the shield ;)

Yes I did. I thought about not bringing it with me, but it would be my luck that I would get the one person in the store that would know that a premium xbox is supposed to come with a hard drive.

Sounds like it, a GTA type of game with "true" freedom in gameplay in a massive environment with one of the big differences being that you're the good guy, a police officer and fight crime all over the city. Your character's abilities progress as you progress in the game so once you've accomplished enough your player will have nearly superhuman characteristics and abilities - you'll get stronger, you'll jump higher and you'll be able to choose which abilities you want to focus on. Get strong enough and you'll be able to literally pick up vehicles, etc.....
One of the features that was really interesting to me was the "racing" where someone will be in a car and have to complete a preset circuit around the city while their opponent could be on foot jumping from rooftop to rooftop - sounds very interesting.

Yes, I got Heavy Weapon today. Loved it. The sidescrolling, shoot up in the air reminded me of Moon Patrol, a little bit. Played the survivor mode on Live with 4 people, the longest we lasted as 13:07

The B:M demo is up (online multiplayer only). From what I've read, there isn't much in the way of explanation of the control scheme. It would probably be a good idea to download the "Strike on Tulagi" walkthrough vid before jumping online.

Live is basically a big old online community.

You can communicate, download content and play games online with friends or anyone else with a Gold account ($50 US for 12 months or $60 CDN). There's a free silver account, but you can't play online with it.

And it's very easy to set up. :)

Earlier this month, British PC mags broke the news on The Shivering Isles (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6163775.html), Bethesda Softworks' first full expansion to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. However, being PC magazines, they didn't mention whether or not the add-on would be coming to the Xbox 360.
Nervous Xbox 360-owning Oblivion fans can rest a little easier, as Bethesda today confirmed that the game would be arriving this spring for both the PC and Xbox 360. The expansion will contain more than 30 hours of new gameplay with branching quest storylines, and the landscape itself will change according to the decisions players make during their adventures. There will also be new creatures, dungeons, and quests.
The PC edition of The Shivering Isles will only be available at retail outlets (copublished by Bethesda and Take-Two Interactive), while Xbox 360 owners will only be able to download it directly from Xbox Live Marketplace. Bethesda has yet to announce in which form the expansion would be made available to PlayStation 3 owners, if at all.

The Arena is the best cash maker in the game for the 2 minutes it takes. I get 4k a match now, and another 3k from selling the weapons they drop in that match. I try to do matches whenever they pop up now just to get the cash boost.

Man, you guys are seriously making me want to start up Oblivion, I only got like 9 hours into it my first go round, so I had quite a bit more to see, but I don't have the free time right now that I like to have for fantasy games.

Unfortunately relegated to short spurt gaming sessions (1-2 hour max), and I only like playing fantasy games if I'm sitting down for 5+ hour sessions or I feel I don't accomplish nearly enough.

It takes a few games to get the hang of it. I swear there are still games that come out really close. Even almost lose a few. I take like 50 shots and only 1 goes it.

These are minor spoilers, but not really.....

Once you beat the Arena you have officially gotten rid of every competitor they have available so since humans are out of the question you are given the option of facing monsters throughout the world. Once a week you can go to the arena and you are given 3 options.

At first the options are you can fight

A. One wolf
B. Two wolves
C. Two wolves and one goblin

BUT as you level up the enemies become better and because of that the rewards become better.

Right now my 3 choices are 1 minotaur lord, 2 minotaur lords, or 3 minotaur lords....if I fight all 3 of them I get 4k gold and the 2 handed maces each of them drop sell for about 1k each. Since they are beasts the rule against looting is thrown out the window.

i did at first but i was used to the 2k controls but i found that the 07 controls were tough at first to adjust but you catch on quick i like how you can pass with the right stick i just hate when i push it backwards on accident

you can't d/l NCAA rosters. Only way to do that (presently) is by purchasing a memory card from eBay by some dude that's done all the legwork for you.

But you don't need a Live Gold account to d/l stuff. You need Gold to play online, but your silver account that comes free will allow you to d/l stuff. Some arcade games like Defender, Street Fighter, Ultimate Mortal Kombat, Uno (which rocks!), Texas Hold 'Em, etc are all available for d/l

I'm always up for gears of war. I can't stress it enough that even when I have Oblivion in, I'm only 1 minute away (stopping, saving, changing disks) from coming over to play Gears. I don't care if you want to play in the middle of one of my major quests I'll play. The main problem is I know alot of people don't share my same mentality or don't have games that can allow that and with everyone basically playing different games now it could be hard to find a group of 8.

I too am always up for Gears....but I don't like just accepting the blind invites to a game. I get annoyed when I'm in the middle of a quest in Oblivion...get a game invite for Gears....save...exit...switch discs...accept game invite....only to see we have a great 1 on 2 going so far. If you send a message first...telling me the amount we have for a game...I'm more likely to jump over.

Believe it or not Randall really did take it back....because when you think of it how many times in the last year have you heard people just joke about the term porch monkey like it's not a big deal. Same here....I had heard of alot of different racial slurs over the years but I had never heard that one at all. The movie was the absolute first I had heard of it.

That's one of the oldest racial slurs for black people. It's a shame they don't teach anything in public schools or you guys would definitely know about that.

I think I screwed up in Oblivion. I was doing the cure for vampire quest. Well I got the cure and brought it back to the Count in Skingrad. Well I went up to talk to someone and hit A but I was in sneak mode so I picked the persons pocket instead. Well I got arrested during everything was taking place. Now that I go back nothing happens they just stare at me and It wont let me talk to them or anything. Well I got to the Mages Guild quest that you have to go get that book from the Count of Skingrad and he wont talk to me after you defeat the Necromancers that attack you. I am not sure what to do and dont really want to start over.

The first time i heard it is when my neighbor in the upstairs apt from me told them that p____monkeys stole my radio and all my cd's out of my car....i couldn't stop laughing and had to ask him what the hell he was talking about. i was only mad cuz they broke my window that they didn't need to break cuz you could push the window down from outside the car and that it was in the middle of Febuary so that was a cold 30 mile drive to work burrrrr

i've had that happen to me before which wouldn't have been so bad but 1. there were only 4 of us and 2 they wouldn't talk 3 when i left he kept sending me invites to come back

The getting out of the Sewers is probably the worst part of the game so far. Just run around and have fun. Do what ever you want. Although I would try to stay out of trouble because if you get a bounty on your head it will follow you everywhere.

When I first got my system (and only had 2 games), it was definitely a game that I played often. Now that I have more games (Too many, possibly), I don't even touch Hexic. Hell, I don't even play Geometry Wars anymore, and that was a game I was hooked on from the first time I played it (In PGR 2).

Im thinking about buying geometry wars with my free 400 points i got... it is a pretty damn fun game... i played heavy weapons demo for about an hr yesterday...that was pretty damn fun

I was going to DL it on Friday... but I had second thoughts when I saw the 800 MS point price so I just DL'd the demo.

Not sure but I'd like to think it was random. It was extremely hard to login when the site went up. A lot of people got a second e-mail shortly after that first one though from what I'm seeing on other forums (xbox.com, avsforum.com) so it doesn't look good if you didn't get the second one right away IMO.

By the way, the Crackdown demo is out. It's like GTA/Saint's Row, but you're a super cop. That's about the only thing original about this game. You're still taking out gangs just like every other GTA wannabe. Apparently, the cops don't come after you because I took out several cop cars and innocent bystanders and nothing happened. Didn't have time to try the online and didn't have time to progress to a super human level. Looks like something that I'll buy ( at least partly for the Halo 3 beta).

Exactly. I'm going to throw $60 down on a game I'm not sure about just to play a buggy version of Halo 3. I'd much rather wait for the bugs to be worked out, and pay the $60 to play the final, cleaned-up Halo 3. :cool:

mine actually didnt take to long to download...a hr maybe tops... well anyways the game was pretty fun... i was able to max out the jumping running skills as well as the strength and shooting skills to 3stars... it was pretty fun... not sure if id buy it...but it was pretty fun

I feel the same way. Gameplay feels lifeless and flat. Not worth the Halo 3 invite. Definitely not worth sixty dollars. A few sites I've visited seem to be hyping this title up more than it really deserves, IMO.

couldn't agree more. Thought it was weak. Gameplay was very flat and controls were iffy at best

I want to try it at least, to see what the hype is all about (Even if my expectations remain low), but that's quite a large download. I'm more concerned about the wait for the download, more than anything.

DAMN IT!!! I just spent the last hour playing Lost Planet trying to beat the Green Eye and when I finally killed the bastard I got the disc is unreadable message just as soon as I smashed the iced over motherfudger.

That sucks. It took me quite a few tries to beat him. Mainly cause I hate using the mechs. Of course I hate them because I suck at using them. :D I'd have been beyond po'd had that happened to me.

OUCH... that would probably have made me throw my controller. It took me quite a while to kill that sum b-tch, too. And it was one of those moments where my health and his were almost completely gone, so one good wallop would have killed either one of us. Sorry to hear that, man!

It was called "sitting around waiting for people to get organized" anxiety. I had asked to set the game up an hour earlier, but there were no takers. Then, all of a sudden, people started coming on. Oh well---it's not like we all play any more, anyways. :p

In all seriousness (Ok, that prior paragraph is serious), mostly it was due to having been burned out after taking the day off, working on the car, having to wait for a stupid smog check, and running other errands. I was burned out. A day at work was less stressful.

I just had two matches in a row w/ Benoit and then Flair and after they got me down on the mat, they would not let me up at all and I end up losing... kinda cheesy

That's one of my biggest beefs with this year's Smackdown. The arcadish play of the Smackdown series has consistently been toned down the past few years, but this year, they tend to rely too much on keeping you grounded. It can be awfully frustrating at times. :mad:

Don't forget Giant Gram 2000. One of the best wrestling games ever. It even had individual personality traits for each wrestler such as Ogawa grabbing the ref whenever he was in a submission hold or any wrestler hurting themselves when they tried to headbutt Bobo Brazil. If you haven't played it yet, Dreamcast = $20 + Giant Gram $15 = Loads of fun. The only drawback is that the reversal system makes it impossible to play with two players.

thanks for the tip, man... ironically, the only match i've been able to win so far is a handicap match (me and Booker T vs Batista) and I was never able to tag Booker. He ran enough interference though to allow me to keep my stamina up

I am doing the thiefs guild quests, and I have made it to the fence in the imperial city. the problem is he won't barter with me. He tells me he is my fence, but no barter option appears. Any help?

You might not be in the place he fences at. Take Ongar for instance he's a fence but he won't actually buy things from you unless you talk to him inside his house...at the bar or outside in the city he won't even look at you. So if you are talking to this guy in a place where he doesn't want to fence then thats probably why.

My best advice to give is to just use 1 fence and forget about the new ones you unlock. With 1 fence you can keep getting his disposition up and sell at a better percentage. Thats why I used Ongar the ENTIRE time I was selling stolen goods.

I was actually embarrassed the night I bought it. It was a Saturday night, my wife was with me, Wal-Mart was the only place open that had it, the little girl in the electronics area wouldn't ring me out or let me walk up with it, SHE had to walk it to the counter... Now I walk around my house crouching hoping that if my wife doesn't hear me I can try to pickpocket her. Either that, or maybe increase my sneak level.

I heard SDVSRAW is really bad? You seem kinda 50/50 Tat2....I was going to try out, but since I heard really bad things I didnt. And the last SDVSRAW I played the career mode sucked, the goal was to win divas. And my career ended after one year! *Because I didnt win enough divas, I believe. But I couldnt win without smashing the hell out of someone with a chair or sledgehammer.....I would think the Career mode should be like Madden where you get the 30yr thing......Sorry for the rant, I really just was wondering if it is worth trying/buying.
i would think any game that might peek your interest is worth at least a rental. i am not a huge wrestling fan (to much of the same if you ask me) but i liked RAW 2 for the xbox. a little to slow moving IMO but fun none the less. the smackdown games i really haven't liked since here comes the pain.

January 24, 2007 - Millions want a chance to play Halo 3 online prior to its release, which has lead to some stressful nights for fans. With limited openings in the Internet lottery and Xbox Live competition, most gamers must rely on receiving the golden ticket that comes with a retail copy Crackdown. Some have mistakenly been lead to believe that only a select number of copies of Crackdown will contain Halo3 beta invites. This is not true.

A Microsoft representative confirmed to IGN that every copy of the initial run of Crackdown includes an invite to the Halo 3 beta. If you want in on the beta (and didn't earn an invite by other means), purchase a copy of Crackdown on February 20 and you'll be set. You can even purchase a copy on February 21 or even March 15 and still be in the clear. Clearly, you won't be able to purchase a copy of Crackdown months down the road and expect to find a beta invite inside. If you're a bit late the party, just make sure the box is marked as having the beta and you'll be in the clear. Oh, and you'll get a copy of Crackdown to boot. Sweet!

It's worth it just because it has the most accurate representations of all of its stars. I've never seen a better Vader. You can even make him take his mask off. Dr. Death's Homicidal backdrop will make you cringe. It also has double team moves that are exclusive to the individual teams that used them such as Team No Fear's double clothesline and the movement crusher that Johnny Ace and Miche Barton (Bart Gunn) used. It was originally an arcade game though so don't expect a simulation and it's also one of the hardest wrestling games that I've ever played. Now I have to go hookup my Dreamcast when I get home:D

Smackdown vs. Raw is okay, but unless you have friends and agree to not play cheaply (keeping opponent grounded, Spike headbutt), you won't be playing this game long. I only bought it because I'm desperate for some wrestling action and I don't feel like hooking up my PS2 again just to play Fire Pro R or King of Colosseum.

EA sucks for buying AKI and then doing absolutely nothing with them. Def Jam Vendetta used the AKI wrestling engine and was a very good game. Then they used parts of the engine in DJ: Fight for New York. Now, the new game has scrapped the engine completely. I really hope we get an AKI wrestling game in some form soon. It sucks to only have Smackdown to choose from. Maybe the TNA game will be good.

well, the demo is available on xbox live right now, and let me tell you, it's a shame that people are going to shortchange it because of the halo 3 beta seeming like a needed selling tool. don't get me wrong, i was excited about the game, but the announcement of the beta invite encouraged me to pre-order it, hoping that it would be good. and then the demo was made available, and man, it's is some of the most fun i've had playing a game in a long time. the chunk of the game that you get with the demo is around a gig and a half, and within there's so much to do. yes, there's lots of killing, but technically you are a good guy. the draw to me is how you have the upgradeable abilities. in the demo, they made it easier for you to upgrade so you could try more things out. my strength upgraded to where i could lift around a ton, which means some cars i could pick up and throw. my favorite part was the jumping though. feeling somewhat like the scenes from the first matrix movie, leaping from building to building, seeing if you can make it to that far away spot never got old. it's even going to have online co-op, and it's available in the demo too. you don't even have to stick together. i see alot of people not having faith in the game because of the beta invite, and i admit, it made me a bit worried the game was going to be awful, but after the demo, i'd buy this game if it came with nothing at all. go download it and have some fun.

Then, we lost two of our players and the rest of the game was played 4 to 2. Somehow, we won 10-7. It was crazy. I told the guy we were doomed, but he was determined and we won.

I agree with you. I was a little worried at first, but I cant stop playing the demo. Single campain or Co-Op. I find it very fun, sort of like a superhero game. Lifting Cars, almost jumping over freeways. It never gets old to me. And the Co-Op is just as fun, I played last night with this one guy(might add him as a friend) and we worked together alot, but went our ways and did our own thing. Than the game told me to help the other agent. So I went where he was and he was surrounded by "bad guys". And we just cleaned house. I am pre-ordering it tonight, and I do not really care about the Halo 3 beta. As some of you know I have never even played a Halo game. So this beta/demo will be the first Halo I have ever played. So I am really buying Crackdown for Crackdown. I really think everyone should download the demo and give it a chance. And really take a look at the games "universe". If you dont like it whatever. Keep in mind I went into it with not so high hopes and I am very impressed. And as someone said it is somewhat like a "Superhero" GTA. I would say like Saints Row, but I didnt like SR. The world seems like it is going to be huge. Ok, ok Ill stop typing now. Sorry for the long rant......

Oblivion is not high on my list anymore.

I snuck into an open door that is usually locked in one of the Mages Guild halls. Well, the door closed, and I couldn't get out. I waited, and finally the guy appeared to go to sleep. I broke all of my lockpicks trying to escape, couldn't travel - I was stuck. So, I had to try and pickpocket the key from him. Well, he caught me, and it sent me outside of the building automatically. Now I have to find Dragons Tongue and/or something else (redflower maybe?) to get back in.

I had a hell of a time getting promoted to Swordsman in the fighters guild. I went to the ship to get the ectoplasm, and it took about 10 tries.
