When Crackdown hits store shelves (Feb 20 - North America, Feb 22 - Asian territories, Feb 24 - European markets), and you still haven't secured a place in the Halo 3 multiplayer public beta you can still get in via specially marked boxes of Crackdown. These boxes of Crackdown include an invite to participate in the coveted Halo 3 multiplayer beta program when it becomes available. When the Halo 3 multiplayer beta surfaces in spring 2007, those owners of Crackdown that have access to an Xbox 360 Pro console or an Xbox 360 Core console with hard drive and a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription simply need to load their copy of Crackdown into Xbox 360 and use the disc as a key to download the beta from Xbox Live Marketplace and join the battle in Halo 3 multiplayer.

First time I ever fired the game up I was level 1 and and just did the main quest for a while and I completely owned everything in the Oblivion gates (mainly because I didn't know how to level up and had high stats, but low level). I just went through an Oblivion gate the other day to show my friends what it was like and I got absolutely whooped when I went through it. Granted I didn't have my enchanted gear on but still I didn't expect to hard to wait after basically every battle I had.

In my current game as a level 40 I still haven't initiated any of the main quest...haven't even delivered the amulet yet and I'm pretty sure it's almost been a year (in game time) since I first got it.

And for all of my regular Gears crew, if you don't have R6V already, go get it. If you like Gears you will be all over Sharpshooter and T-Hunt for R6V. Dave, Smokis and I can all vouch for that.

Man, I've been trying to go through my endless clutter of titles I own but never played through - right now I'm on the original half life. Man, has it not aged well, at all. It's hard to believe its almost 10 years old now! Honestly, it doesn't look THAT bad - with the HD pack it looks like a very high rez older PS2 game. But certain things are just so crappy, I'm really struggling to get through it - its funny because almost every modern shooter owes at least 1-2 things to it, but everything does it so much better now that getting through it is just mundane at times.

I was hoping Black Mesa would be done by now, but that mod is looking like an end of 2007/beginning of 2008 release. I think I'm about 1/3rd of the way through the original, and right after that its time to kick up HL2 (as I eagerly await HL2:Orange Box on 360, as there was good reason to post here.)

Anyone else just have a huge problem with a gigantic backlog of games they haven't finished? I think if I were to go through my collection, I've probably finished 25-35% of my single player experiences - more often then not, I get distracted somewhere along the way.

It also doesn't help buying 20+ games a year, but damn, if only I could spend less time being social :(.

And before I forget - has there been any mention of the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadows of Chernobyl being brought to 360? It looks freaking awesome, IMO. Graphically a bit dated (but still pretty damn good), but the premise of the game sounds fantastic but apparently its a resource hog and I'm not upgrading my system any time soon (Not until Vista gets its bugs worked out, so 1.5 years or so).

Yes....but it means having to go to jail. Each time you go to jail...your skills will drop. Then you get to build them back up to 100 again and after 10 buildups...you can level your character.

I stopped playing superstar when I realized that the camera was like that. Seriously annoying.

I haven't been playing too many games in 2006. In fact, I think I took a break for the entire year which was sort of cool because I was able to pick up games at much cheaper than the release date. Anyway, I am currently playing catch up and beating EVERY game that I put off playing. It has been really fun doing this.

I hope to finish the one that I am currently working on this weekend and then move on to another. I've got a lot to do but I am moving through them faster than I thought that I would.

I beat one game but it has an alternate ending so I have to go all the way through it again to beat it for the alternate ending. I know what it is, but I want to see/accomplish it for myself. I guess it is the completist in me.

Sadly, there is still ONE area in Super Mario 3 that I never beat. I need to look up a cheat on the Internet or something to learn what I am doing wrong. I haven't played in in YEARS but from what I remember there are like "back doors/warps" or something in them. Basically, I have all the dots changed to another color but one, if that makes any sense to any of you who have played it.

Here's an open Oblivion question for all:

How in the world do you get that much gold???????????

As you level up people drop stuff that worth 2000-3000 gold sell those for about 1000 a piece and it ads up. I have over 112000 gold right now after buying the house and all the furnishings for it. Which are about 2800 gold per room.

Once you hit level 20 you'll have more money then you know what to do with. Right now I'm a bit above 700k and theres really nothing I can spend that cash on. I fix all my own gear (master armorsmith), I have over 400 health potions so I'm solid there (I don't know if the game glitched or if that was on purpose but one daedric quest dropped 350+ strong health potions), I've got like 4-5 homes now....theres just nothing to spend cash on. When you are a young character levels 1-17ish money is always an issue. You are spending money on repair hammers/repairing, you are spending money buying new spells, refilling your enchanted items, buying quest items, leveling up, etc etc. Money flies out the window in a matter of seconds.

Then all of a sudden you hit level 20...armor that sells for well over 2k keeps dropping but you already have all the armor you need. Your armor/weapons start to degrade but you are a master armorer and all you need is 1 hammer to fix every single item you come across. In my dungeon raiding gear (thats allows me to carry 1000 pounds of loot) I can easily make 50 grand in a matter of 1 cave clearing. Then what do I spend that 50 grand on? Nothing....I have nothing to buy.

you lost it when you cured your vampirism. one of the side effects is increased strength. And it flucuates more and more, the more you become a vampire. You become full vampire at 100%, but when you drink blood, it drops to 25% and your strength goes back down. Its still stronger than human, but not as strong as 100% vampire. Each day you dont feed, your vampire percent goes up 25%. So, when you cured that, alot of your attributes went down

Im hooked on the increased strength and speed from vampirsm. as well as the detect life "hunters sight" power

I did really like the hunters sight spell. I for sure bought a night eye spell after I cured myself. I need to get a detect life spell as well. I have one but it lasts like 30 seconds so it doesnt help much.

I bought Fuzion Frenzy 2 the day it came out. As one who had the first one, I am disappointed. However, it's still a decent game. My biggest beef?

THE CARD SYSTEM

It takes a hard-fought/earned win in a mini-game and can possibly turn it into a huge debacle for you, thanks to a game of luck/chance. However, this complaint only applies to the tournament mode. If you're just doing custom games, or mini-game frenzy, it won't apply. The mini-games once again have some repetition, but overall, the game is decent. If you played the first, you'll be slightly irked at some of the game, but it is still good enough.

Patience, brother. I know you think you need to grab and sell everything (I was the same way). Once you hit higher levels....you will curse youself for spending so much time getting stuff to sell for 35 gold. You will eventually have more gold then you know what to do with...I'm lvl 24...and 240k. If I could go back in time...I wouldn't have dlcked around with all that crap from lvls 1-15....cause now I'm rolling in the dough. Chugga tried to tell me....but I wouldn't listen. I was even stealing stupid crap like potatoes and rice to sell :D

l have the ring of perfection(raises all atributes by 10)
ring of feather(raises feather by 125)
awsome necklace(raises feather by 150)
full strength
used lots of potions and enchantments so mystrength is like 120 without the ring of perfection
have warcry(raises strength to the point to where it raises feather by 100)

l can basically reach 1000 easy, the most l got it to was 1200, havent tried the potions to raise feather.

Wow I need this dungeon raiding type gear. I hate having to keep going back and forth from the cave and city to sell the stuff so I can get all the stuff out. Sometimes it takes me like 3-4 trips.

But if you've got a ton of stuff in your inventory then it doesn't really help. Something that REALLY helped me was becoming a master of heavy armor so that all of my armor weighed nothing when I was wearing it. So now my entire inventory before I go out somewhere is maybe 76 pounds and with a bit over 200 strength you'd be suprised what you can carry.

But honestly try to become a master of heavy armor/light armor whichever you use. You could always use the leveling trick that I told Oaktown about that got him from level 12 to 26 in one day. Thats how I maxed out heavy armor so quick.

I did and it sucks. I have beat all my games so I had nothing to play so I downloaded I think 5 demos. NBA Street, Just Cause, NBA LIVE, Pool, and something else. Kinda of boring night and I didnt feel like playing Gears. Like Someguy said I really dislike playing if people who ***** and moan about everything. But Ive got a nice party tonight so I wont be on Live for the tonight.

Go to a trainer of your choice and train up 5 times....if you don't have the money to train up 5 times then get the money and go back and make sure you train up those 5 times. The key to this is while you're out getting more cash to train you are leveling up even more. So when you finally get the cash to train 5 times and then level up when you go back to look at your experience bar chances are you can level up AGAIN. But DON'T. Go get some more cash so you can train 5 times.

This is a pain in the neck....you'll be level 1 for DAYS you'll be level 2 for DAYS....but sooner or later you'll be overflowing with money. When you eventually start overflowing with money you'll be training/leveling like theres no tomorrow. It's how I was able to jump from level 12 to 20 in 1 day. Then 20 to 30 the NEXT day then 2 days later 30 to 40. In the course of about a 4 day period I jumped almost 30 levels. Nice. I just started a redguard, he is level 5 now. This will help quite a bit.

On a side note, I just rented that star trek game with all the different captains and such.

More than likely, man. While no one can deny that Gears does have a "host advantage" at times, it can't ever be that people put themselves in foolish situations! :p ;) :D I remember the host advantage being used as the excuse last time I played, when 2 guys came to me, one-at-a-time, while I was cornered at the top of Escalation. I had my crapgun (aka shotgun) aimed, ready for anything. I took 2 of the remaining 3 guys out like this, before David wised up and tossed a grenade at me in that corner. :D

Yeah oaktown threw a grenade and I still can't figure out where it came from and it's one of those things thats going to bother me forever now....I just can't for the life of me figure out where it was thrown from. It's like the magic grenade....all signs point to it coming from in front of the warehouse but I didn't see anyone there. The grassy knoll seems to be the 2nd best guess.

anyone who's done face-mapping for R6V know if you lose all your stuff if you "recreate" your character? I created my guy to play online, but to change now I think you have to reset your character. It says any experience you've achieved will be kept, but does that also include any weapons, armor etc you've unlocked?

Also, is it true that face-mapping negates the ability to add any accessories to your head (hats, helmets, etc)?

Hey Tat. You shouldn't lose the stuff you've unlocked, but I believe it resets your current appearance, so you'll have to outfit your character again. Congrats on the camera purchase--Just don't let it freak you out when you see "yourself" getting shot in the game. :D As for the inability to use certain items, yes, it is true. Most of the stuff you won't be able to use relates to helmets/hats/masks.

I can understand the work thing and it not being your favorite level it just didn't really sound like that last night so I wasn't sure.

You should learn to love Escalation....it is a great siege level, actually takes strategy which I like about it....if you have bad team communication you will lose....if you have no team communication you will get slaughtered, there have been games where we've been outnumbered at that level but with some teamwork anythings possible. It's a level that weeds out the Kobe Bryants and makes you work like a team of Steve Nash's. No rambo tactics allowed, it's not just a run and gun hope and pray your shotgun works better then the other guys type of level. Thats whats cool about it....that and people actually bother to pick up other weapons on the map....people pick up the magnum, both snipers, the grenades (to actually throw them), etc. It's not like every person you come across is going to be a shotgun or chainsaw wielding maniac.

It's a level that actually involves teamwork, you should love it.

its not that I dont love it. Its that I didnt have time to do a best of five, when I know almost every round in it is going to go the time limit. When I left, I only stayed on Oblvion for maybe ten minutes, then went to bed. Playing with you in escalation is definitely a friday or saturday nite map

Save you guys from hearing me complain about crap like sneaking up point blank behind someguy6000, pointing my shotgun literally 3 inches from behind his noggin...pulling the trigger and not even downing him....just so he can turn around and blow me to bits with his first shot. Or...the getting repeatedly chainsawed from somone I see a mile away coming at me with the chainsaw. Do I get frustrated being chainsawed. Not at all. It's the part that I see you coming a mile away....I shoot you with the shotgun and it doesn't lower your chainsaw and you still kill me.....that part frustrates me. When I get killed from behind...no complaints. When I come around a corner and had no idea you were there and you get me...no complaints. When I see you running right at me like Rambo and I put two shots of the shotgun in you...AND still get chainsawed...yeah...then I'm frustrated.

And to answer you "magic grenade" question chugga....it didn't kill both you and tat2d2. I came off the side of the heli-pad....saw both of you behind the crates that you always hide behind with the sniper. Chucked a grenade that bounced along the ground right at you guys....tat2d2 rolled towards me to get away from the blast...and I quickly tagged him with the other grenade....boom...both of you died. You are thinking it came from the front of the warehouse....it came from the side and landed right at your feet.

On a side note concerning R6V, does anyone know how to kill Irena? I'm at the level where I have to hack the computer and then go upstairs and to kill Irena, but when my NPC hacks into the camera the room fills up with terrorists and while I'm taking them out it'll say that I failed the mission since I didn't kill Irena? Is there a time limit on when I have to kill her? Thanks for the help guys.

You must stand guard and protect the console that your squadmate is hacking into before you can go upstairs and pursue Irena. I tried using smoke grenades the first time to blind the terrorists from shooting the console, but it just made life harder for me. I just use careful cover to pick the terrorists coming out one at a time. Once you have protected the console downstairs, head carefully upstairs to meet with and kill Irena. Just be sure that you take it slowly, as she has plenty of protection (Especially if you're playing on Realistic). You're on your own from there. ;)

I hate hearing people say that the host advantage w/ the shotgun, is that only reason why they "lived" Another thing that is getting real tiresome are the people believing they have the right to stay in the game no matter what. It is totally up to the host who stays and who goes. Then you gotta love the voice mail they send you cursing you out because you removed them.

no, it's nearly as bad. It's there (all online games will some aspect of it), but it's almost completely unnoticeable.

It was the last game of the night (like 3:45 in the morning) and the game was 4-to-4 in a game to 5 and we were down to 2 guys left. While I did throw an internal temper tantrum (I won't lie I was kinda steaming) it had more to do with the chainsaw then lag....I always get my numbers I'm just usually annoyed with HOW I die. Dying is inevidable, it's a videogame big deal, but theres just some ways that burn more then others. Someone charged at me when I had my entire team behind me and they basically suicide bombed me just to get me out of the game knowing very well that the second they finished sawing through my nether regions a shotgun was going to make them explode into a billion pieces.

Thats just the absolute last way I would ever want to die. And it's the absolute last weapon I ever want to die to. Don't get me wrong I don't hate the chainsaw, I don't despise when people use it....just in a game with no respawns I'm not huge on the kamikazee technique to get 1 guy off the map.

So no that wasn't me getting a taste of the host lag...I really don't need to get a taste of host lag....I get a 9 course feast of lag anytime anyone hosts. Hell you're in florida thats 23 hours away, cory is an entire continent away from me as is pyrrhonist, as is killab all the guys who regularly host. Even Someguy is a good 20+ hour drive from my location. Thats why I pick up the sniper rifle and the boom shot and all the other crazy long distance weapons that completely negate any ridiculous shotgun the host might be wielding. If I die it's because it was my fault and I let him close distance on me to kill me...but good lord I'm going to try like you've never seen before to take his head off before he even gets a shot to down me with 1 shot of the shotgun.

And oaktown we've already went over my connection....my connection is awful it's just that my sheer awesomeness wills me through to make things happen.

That's absolute bullcrap Cory. I've been sniped...hit with the boom...caught from behind...tagged...etc, etc. I've died every way possible in the game. I vent my frustrations when I think it's BS. Getting sawed while shooting the guy sawing is BS to me. Getting put down (or killed) by a single shot after putting 3 to 4 in someone is BS to me. Seeing the last guy hiding on the middle column...coming around the corner and meeleing them while they're still looking at my teammate only to get killed with a shotgun blast is BS to me. Having a player (chugga) stuck on a wall and having to shoot him 4 times point blank with the shotgun before he even goes down (not dies) is BS to me. Whether it's a kill or a death.....the game is VERY inconsistent. Or maybe you're right....maybe it is just skill....and when i can sneak up on someone and shoot them from 6 inches away right to the back of their head and not put them down...that's bad skill on my part. And the guy who puts me down with a single shotgun blast from 10 yards away just has uber-skill.

What I find funniest about the "*****ing about *****ing" is that whenever someone finally has it happen to them...they are *****ing about it in the "dead" lobby as well. Everythings A OK until it happens to you...then you do the exact same thing you complain about others doing. Maybe the next thing I can start *****ing about is what map we're gonna play :rolleyes:

I have no problems with playing with lag. its accepted, and its just the way it is. Ive asked you to host multiple times, and you refuse. I know you probably get more lag than anyone else, and I dont think its fair to ask you to play with it all the time.

With all that being said, I think we should all switch to R6V. GoW was ok when there was 8-10 of us. but now, we constantly have people waiting to get in and play. the larger 10 on 10 would allow more members to play. and we can all pretty much start on the same learning curve.

I do host most of my games, simply because I seem to get into the games were the lag is enough that your rounds are still firing when you've let off the trigger. I also do kick people for glitching, the idiots that scream or are playing their music so loud that you can't hear anyone talk and for the jack asses that take the trash talk to the personal level. I don't mind the talk as along as they keep it fun and everyone is laughing.
I'm not saying there isn't a slight speed advantage, but for them to say that is the only reason why you killed them, is getting to be the only thing they tell you. I use the shotgun when I'm out numbered, and not when it is even numbers. 9 times out of 10 I have a active reload when I kill the person.

Fellas fellas lets all calm down and just look at the bright side. My connection is on par with that of dial up and I'm still awesome. It just goes to show that I may only be able to download 425kbs a second but thats because theres too much awesome running through my wiring. I'm overloading my connection with awesome and thats something we can all agree on. So from now on when you die in a game don't say "damnit lag" say "damnit I'm not pushing enough awesome through my connection and thats something I've gotta work on"

I think thats why we lose connection some times and that "press b" screen comes up. Way too many people pushing as much awesome as they can through their internet provider and the host simply not being able to manage the awesome intake.

It was probably DVINNY that chainsawed you. He's the master of the chainsaw....I don't know how but he is. He'll literally charge in from 50 feet away with you looking directly at him and he'll still try to chainsaw you and the worst part is, is on occassion he'll actually pull it off.

As for lag we talk about it alot online but everyone has lag (outside of the host)....so 6 other guys out there are feeling your pain too in varying degrees. Just play smart use cover and you'll be fine....the vast majority of the time that lag actually comes into play is when you AREN'T in cover and you get into those cheesy shotgun/lancer/pistol battles. When you are behind cover you can pick your own shots and a .5 second difference will always hurt but not nearly as bad as when the majority of your body is safe behind a cement wall.

I'm telling you---the lag is not nearly as noticeable as it is in Gears of Lag. Plus, there's co-op, so it'll relieve some of the continually escalating tensions of versus.

2 things they need to fix, 1 the stupid error window that pops up when someone leaves.. 2 the distance that someone that chainsaw you, people are able to register a "hit" from 10 feet away yet you can't shoot them with the shotgun to drop the melee attack.

Bought it the same day Gears came out...an impulse buy. Played Gears and never gave COD3 a chance.....then got into Oblivion....already owned/played COD2. I figure COD2 can give me my fix for WW2 shooters. Don't get me wrong....I'm not trying to outright sell it. I just saw your post and thought I'd give Lost Planet a try. If you don't end up trading...I'll hold onto it and play it eventually.

Ya I hear you. Actually Lost Planet was an impulse buy that worked out for me. I was just in Walmart checking 360 stuff out and asked the guy if I could check out some games in the case. And I felt bad because I looked at like 5 different games, so I felt like I had to buy one of the five. my R6V bitterness came from having to equip your guy. I was running around shooting people that wouldnt die, and I was going down when someone stepped on my toe. When I asked what happened they said "I have body armor on, and your running around in a Tshirt"

there's also a trade off. When you clad yourself w/ armor, yes it takes a little more to kill you, but it also slows you down making you an easier target

Thanks...although I could have swore I equipped my guy with a magnetic vest....cause I was catching every grenade thrown ;) LOL...it even happened a few times after our numbers dwindled and we went back to co-op terrorist hunt.
