It definitely was. I have to say, I'm glad to finally see people get onboard and play R6: Vegas. It's too bad no one got the bug earlier. :D Sorry for the freeze-ups last night....it was pissing me off, and big time. My Xbox only seems to freeze with that game. I can play Oblivion for 5-7 straight hours, no issues, but with Vegas, it seems to freeze sometimes just after 30 minutes. :mad: :mad:

I mean I've done every quest imaginable in that game it's time to just get it over with. LOL. Yup thats sounds like a great night for sure. I have somewhat of the same planned, Lost/Birthday Party Ya I am going to try and multitask with being at a party and watch Lost. I may be better off to record Lost so Ill probably do that as a backup plan.

Talk about a super case of host-itis last night. Me, Cory, Oaktown, and Primebane go head to head with another "crew" who was comprised of decent players but there was one guy on the team who was hosting that seriously couldn't get less then 15 kills a game if his life depended on it....he was a constant 15 kill guy. So they take the series 3-2 but we say "well lets try out another host lets see what happens"....he went from 15 kills a game to celebrating over suiciding and losing for his team although he finally got on the board with a kill. We would have taken them 4-0 but we had to settle for 3-1 when oaktown switched sides and we had to play down 4 players against 3.

Sure sucks when your weapons don't work. I wouldn't have been nearly as pissed if it weren't for the fact that this ENTIRE TEAM of guys didn't even know weapons other then the shotgun even exsisted. oddly enough...the only one talking smack was Cory's little brother. The host...XX420XX...was pretty cool...even with an insane host shotgun. It was definitely frustrating that that was the only weapon they got kills with. Their whole tactic was rush all 4 at us with shotguns equipped. Very lame. Although...once I left...and spent 45 minutes on the phone with my DSL provider...and then came back with a normal connection (previously I was uploading 12 kbps...yes..you read that right....12 kbps...literally worse then a 14.4 dial-up modem)....all of my guns started working again....heck...I even was able to sneak up on Icy Red and a get a one shot shotgun kill. Only one of the entire night :D

Sorry I joined the other team and ruined your clean sweep on them. I just joined in and it automatically put me on the Cog side. It was still funny that I ended up with the most kills on their team....even after missing the first 5 rounds played.

i am working on act 2 on hardcore but a little stuck on the driving part but i am pretty addicted to the multiplayer that and i've noticed that i need practice with the other weapons because i kill almost everyone the same way. (i.e. down then curb stomp, chainsaw, shotgun)

You should be able to pick up when the ref is gonna drop the puck pretty easily.

Yeah it took me a while to figure it out as well. Just pull back on the right stick at the right time and you will be set. If you go early you will pretty much lose every time.

Watch the ref's arm closely. He will hesitate slightly just before he drops the puck.

I like the new controls. It just takes a bit to get use to. It might be that I am just bad, but some games you cannot score no matter what. Some games I have put close to 50 shots on goal and only scored 1 goal. Things like that.

The poke check controls are horrible and I wish the puck stuck to your player a little bit better. Also, the checks are weak. You hit a guy and he just keeps going with the puck as if you just grazed his shoulder. I miss the big hits that EA used to be known for. These complaints are mainly for online play. Everything I mentioned becomes a problem in online play. I'm still learning the controls and I got destroyed tonight 3-0. Luongo was letting the easiest goals get through. It was unranked so I'm still 1-0. I'll get better when I stop playing Tony Hawk and Gears so much.

BTW---I officially loathe Lost Planet. After finishing up our marathon R6 session last night, I put in a bit of work on the game. Well, thanks to Mr. Big Worm, I almost broke Lackluster's rented copy of the game. If you knew what I had to go through to get that damn head scan to work this would not be a laughing matter. First day I go out and get the camera me and a friend of mine have decided we are going to get our faces into the game if it's the last thing we do so that we can do co-op. So we move my entire room around, move the chairs, bring down a table to set the camera on, add additional lighting in the room, I mean this might as well have been a senior yearbook photo. Then of course it's time to scan the faces. After a half an hour of looking for the scan feature we realize that theres no freakin camera function anywhere on the xbox....so I sign online and luckily Pyrrhonist is on to tell me what the hell to do....so I'm thinking "easy sailing" a simple scan and we are set. Nope, an hour later my front/side photos still aren't registering in the system. FINALLY about an hour after we start scanning I get a scan of my head but I'm not satisfied with it but what the hell I'll keep it. So now in an attempt to show me up my friend sticks his tongue out makes weird faces and his face scans through the FIRST time he tries. But little do we know it erases my head. So then again not too many nights ago I'm like "I'm going to get this damn thing to work"....so I bring down the lighting, the tables, and everything. So it takes me about 40 minutes to get everything to work and granted I come out looking a little more latino then black, have a receeding hairline, and have a giant hulk hogan yellow glob on my forehead I'm satisfied with my work.

THEN after all this I'm playing through enjoying my time knowing that it's "me" out there killing terrorists and out of no where "hey chugga, I don't know how to tell you this, but you're white".

It's like I'm the pig who made that nice fancy 4 bedroom house out of sticks then you just came right through and blew it down.

I didn't have to move furniture around or bring in professional lighting equipment;), but it took a ridiculously long time to get the picture right. It would say 'turn your head so your head faces left or whatever, so I'd do that. Apparently I didn't understand the wording, because I ended up having to do the complete opposite.

Long story short, I got it to work. It was my first time playing R6:V online (no extra gear), so it was just my bald head. Apparently to some players on LIVE, I look like a tomato with a bandana on...sob's!!!! :D

Now that I earned a helmet, I don't get that anymore.

I know how you felt about the whole process though...waiting for it to construct the full face together, and then having it tell you "try again, dipshlt" after waiting however long was frustrating.

My wife thought the whole thing was cool. She wants me to make one with the cat's face instead of a human. She's awesome:D

well R6V is an awesome awesome offline game, I love it. I rented it two weeks ago and I still have it. Campaign is sweet and terrorist co-op is pretty fun as well. Tons of replay value, it's a nice game cause it seems a little more realistic... run and gun = death. I bet it'd be a blast online.

It took me about 4 or 5 games to get used to the new controls. I love them!

i am starting to get comfortable with the controls but i still keep pulling the trigger when i try the poke check. i like the controls on the offensive side but not so much on the defence. last night was my first crack at the 360 controls and i went 1-2-0 i played one with the "classic" controls and it didn't seem to classic to me hated them.

BTW, HUGE news for the R6V crowd. I didn't see this posted anywhere else so I'll put it in here.

Ubisoft Montreal is coming out with a Player's Pack in Marketplace in March. It will include 2 new game modes and 10 new maps. The new modes are called "Assassination" and "Total Conquest." In Assassination, the "Attackers'" goal is to eliminate a high-value asset of the "Defenders," who in turn will try to defend and escort the VIP to their extraction zone.
In Total Conquest, each map contains three 'control points' where in order to win a team must activate and maintain control for a stated period of time.

It says for the maps to "expect a variety of new (and old) locations." One map will be based on the Red Lotus Casino. Another will be the Neon Graveyard.

This is all according to the latest issue of EGM. And apparently, Ubisoft has not announced when or if the Pack will be coming to PS3. There's also no pricepoint confirmed yet, but they speculate it will be around 1200 MS Points ($15)

I finally beat Oblivion....after more hours then I care to count and literally searching every last corner the map has to offer I'm finally done.

The story wasn't exactly something you get out of Zelda or Final Fantasy but was still really solid. Now I need a new game to play. I'm pretty much burnt out with Gears, Oblivion is finally finished, R6 is good but nothing I'd go out of my way to play. Feb 20th can't get here fast enough. Between Virtua Fighter, Crackdown, and NBA Street not sure exactly what I'm picking up yet.

Wow just had a great match in Gears it was pretty much 3 on 4 from the start after someone dropped out. Then about 10 matches in on first to 10 another of our team dropped so it was 2 on 4. We did win 1 round with it being 4 on 2, but got slaughtered after that. I swear every game today I have played someone has dropped from my team to make it uneven teams.

Hey Avsfan thanks for the invite, I am not ignoring it. I just cant play games online I guess right now my month gold membership ran out and I have been demoted to a silver membership. I have to wait till Weds. to get my Gold 1 Year membership (Friggin girlfriend and her stupid Valentines Day rules. She better have bought me some other cool stuff for making me wait. :o ). So I will be able to play against Weds night. Since I am a Silver member and can not play online, how can I still get invites and send messages? What is the point of Silver membership anyways? Well to answer your question yes it is a videogame and yes it's awesome. Well actually the game is pretty much crap, but it's worth a rent just to experience some of the flat out ridiculous stuff you can do it in. Today all I did was grappling hook onto helicopters and planes and then skydived out after I got as high as I could. Yes thats correct I jacked a helicopter then jumped from the helicopter to the moving plane and jacked a moving plane before finally skydiving and taking a look at the amazing graphics/draw distance (literally miles).

Does anybody have freezing problems with Gears of War? It's the only game that freezes on my system. I've had it drop during the regular campaign mode (single and co op: only once each) and I've had it drop during online several times. It usually drops online when I'm scrolling between watching the different players on my team or whenever I'm using the sniper rifle and zooming in and out constantly. Maybe it's a problem with the host and their connection. Either way, it sucks.

The Rewards Program is basically a contest from XBox Live brought to you by Old Spice
Microsoft announced today that they are teaming up with Old Spice to bring Xbox Rewards to online gamers. The rewards program requires a Windows Live ID and Xbox Live gamercard, but gamers only need either a Gold or Silver level subscription. Rewards challenges will be split into three levels according to Gamerscore: Level 1, from 0 – 4,999 Gamerscore, Level 2 from 5,000 – 9,999, and Level 3 at over 10,000 Gamerscore. The first challenge starts February 12th, and requires that gamers increase their Gamerscore by 1,500 points by April 12th. Rewards depend on the user’s current Gamerscore Level:

* Level 1
o The popular Xbox Live Arcade game Contra (rated: E10+) from Konami (Retail Value $5.00)
o Exclusive Old Spice Level 1 Xbox Rewards gamer picture
o An experience upgrade to Xbox Rewards Level 2

The 1,000 point thing I think refers to achievement points policies that were just instituted for retail games.
1. All regular disc-based games MUST have 1,000 Gamerscore in the base game. This means that any consumer who buys a retail game will have the opportunity to unlock the full 1,000 Gamerscore without having to pay for any add-on content. Note that a publisher may decide to deliver a portion of this Gamerscore via add-on content, but the add-on content will always be free to the consumer.

2. Game publishers will have the option to deliver another 250 incremental Gamerscore on top of the 1,000 via add-on content from Marketplace. This add-on content could be either free or paid. So if you complete a game and earn the full 1,000 GS, you could by getting new add-on content earn up to a total of 1,250 points from a game.

3. Xbox Live Arcade games will operate in similar fashion, but given the size of these titles they will allow you to earn up to 200 Gamerscore from every game and up to another 50 points from add-on content.

Me and oaktown were saying "man we should get a game going".....but at the time I was free falling from planes and jumping from the hoods of moving vehicles so I was waiting until someone wrangled everyone together. Hell we were even talking about switching it up from Warzone/Execution and doing something more team oriented like Assassination. Weird thing was so many people were playing the single player the wrangling never actually happened. So we played R6 instead.

As for R6 I'll stick around and play that game but I pretty much refuse to play it's crap competitive modes online, you can likely find plenty of others to partake in that sheer awesomeness of side strafing, grenade tossing, and spawn camping.

I also didn't sign up for the rewards program....I learned a long time ago chasing achievements isn't actually fun, the only fun ones are ones that come naturally. I like to say I've beaten games but aside from that, not worth the headaches. Killing 54,000 zombies is just a waste of 4 hours of your life, going an entire half an hour checkpoint without dying is more likely to make you toss your controller through your tv then actually celebrate. If that little green bar shows up at the bottom of my screen naturally then I say "woohoo" but otherwise the hell with that. Only exceptions I make are games I really really like...stuff like Oblivion, Lego Star Wars, etc are games I'll try to get points for just because I enjoy the games so much I actually want to do absolutely everything possible.

As for Just Cause, no joke it's a really fun game but it's something that has to be taken in intervals. I can only do so much crazy **** before it becomes less crazy then it should be. Last night it got to a point where I was just jumping from cars to helicopters to planes to rooftops and it just got old. It's certainly not an Oblivion game where you can play for 50 hours straight and not realize you've been on the system that long. But it's still solid and worth playing. Killab would love it, the graphics are ridiculous....never seen draw distance like that before in my life...even Oblivion clouds out the farthest draw distances because it becomes too far.

I sold my hacked xbox 360 to my sister in law. In a dramatic decision, I've decided to move to B.C. and check out life out there. My Wii is up for sale too, I know someone around me will buy it, just a matter of a day or two.

The decision has nothing to do with the console, I may buy another 360 later on, its a great system. But I just don't see a need for it right now. I'm pretty much selling everything except for my bike, car, tools, computers, and clothes. Everything is going. For the sportspicks guys, look for a posting soon in the buy sell section listing my ebay auctions. I'll also be selling a ton of other stuff. Nothing is up yet on ebay. Next day or so.

Ditto... funny thing was, my 360 took a crash right after you left. I could still talk, but nothing else worked including the home button. But I think that had more to do with the "backup" copy I was playing. Backups tend to not read right sometimes and the console is sometimes picky about reading them initially.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Edmonton, nice place, but want to see something new. Calgary, seen it, haven't spent much time there. Nothing really draws me to Calgary.

Its looking like I'm gonna end up right in Vancouver somewhere. Not sure exactly where yet. Should be an interesting trip. My plan is to live there up till August or so, I may stay I may not, but I do have a dog to come back to, or get sent out later.

I'm moving out there to help a family member get settled, they want to follow their dreams, I'm up for an adventure.

I did some Gears time with Uncle Jessy and Spanked Eagle last night...it was the first time I'd played Gears since December, I think.

I eventually got better after I left that match. I still got murdered quite a bit, but not as frequent. Played on another match and then did co-op with a stranger...he booted me off (I guess that's what happened) after I died during the Beserker scene. I ran the wrong way and got backed into a corner, therefore screwing myself. What a tool, that guy.

EA's NHL '07 is far better this time around. Usually 2K is the one to go with but they made almost no changes to 2K6 which was a horrible port to begin with. EA's '07 made drastic imrovements over their previous installments including an all-new control scheme. Gameplay is better and the graphics are far superior with NHL '07.

The NHL '07 "skill" stick system is a neat trick for a bit, but after a while, it doesn't have the depth I'm looking for. The graphics are a nice touch, sure, but I'm looking for a complete game. NHL2K7 (the one I bought) is a great game as well, but like Ruutu said, it didn't really change a ton from last year. In fact, I think it plays far too speedy for my tastes. I've always loved the sliders, though, and they are a must in any sports game (especially hockey, since the tendency is to default hockey games to NHL Hitz speed & hitting :rolleyes: ). My biggest beef overall with 2K7 this year is the game speed. Even at '0' game speed sliders, and with the turbo minimized, it's too damn fast.

You have to wait until the roller coaster goes past you to start grinding the tracks. Otherwise, the roller coaster always comes up from behind you and makes you bail. I'm ranked no. 6. I can't get any higher until I beat some more goals on Pro or Sick.

I have, and I must side with smdbyfnkillme---it's the best one in years. I had stopped buying Tony Hawk games after THPS4 because frankly, it wasn't really fun to do the same crap over and over again. I think Project 8 has finally given us a reason to be interested again. I don't own the game (yet), but I am able to borrow the game from a buddy should I want to. I had been for a short time (I think it was 2 or so months ago....I'd have to check my gamer profile), but then too many games came out too close and "stole" me away. :p

Is anyone else planning on getting NBA Street Homecourt? I think the NBA Street series is one of (if not THE) the finest basketball games out there. The new one looks fantastic, to go along with the game mechanics. The 2K basketball series is still great, but NBA Live has become a huge joke in the past few years. At least NBA Street tells you up front it's all about dunking. ;) :D

yeah i personally stopped after tony hawk 4 was almost the same as three just dumber. i gave underground a try but it was still more of the same i played the project 8 demo and it seemed like alot of fun but still the controls felt the same so i was worried it was just a prettier version of the last gen stuff.

Actually, we imagine this quite a bit at the IGN office, especially when expense reports are due. Go figure. This is also how the team at Ubisoft Montreal described the new Assassination mode, part of the upcoming downloadable Player's Pack Red Edition, available on Xbox Live at the end of March. While no price has been announced, look for this package to be a must-download for fans of one of the most popular online titles on Xbox 360.


Hey you, VIP. Come with us or die.

Along with Assassination, the pack will include another mode called Total Conquest, as well as five new maps -- well, three new maps, actually. Both Killhouse and Bordertown are being revisited and relit, getting a complete face-lift from the team at Ubisoft. Here's what Ubisoft says about the three new maps:

Doscala Restaurant: This well-known Italian restaurant is located in the heart of Las Vegas, near the famous Fremont Street.

Marshalling Yard: This century-old service yard is situated in the center of an industrial district. Still active today, it is primarily used to store cars, but is also equipped with cleaning and maintenance facilities.

Roof: A coffee factory has been overrun in the continuing gang violence that is wreaking havoc in this Mexican border town. The strategic positioning of the factory makes it highly desirable to control, and therefore a focal point of the violence.

As for the game modes, here's how Ubisoft describes Assassination: "The goal of the attackers is to eliminate a high-value asset of the defenders, who in turn will try to defend and escort the VIP to his extraction zone."

Total Conquest, on the other hand, is more of a "Battlefield" type mode in which teams strive to control points on the map. "This is a team-oriented, static control-point game mode where each map contains three Mobile Radar Installations (control points). To win, a team must activate and maintain control of at least one of the three Mobile Radar Installations for a given period of time," said Ubisoft.

While we've seen these types of modes in other shooters, we've yet to see them at work in the heart of Sin City. We sat down with the team to see how it all comes together.

IGN: Assassination sounds great. Tell us about some of the interesting matches you have had in your play-tests.

Ubisoft: Well, the goal of the game is to protect the VIP and escort him to one of the two extraction points. Sometimes the games are incredibly short when the whole assault team jumps on the VIP. However, when the defending team really plays with teamwork, it gives a super high velocity showdown where every player works as a team to pull off their goals. We've played games that were up to 15 minutes long trying to pin down the other team. Great moments!

IGN: Does the VIP have a different weapon set or advantage/disadvantage that we have seen in previous modes of this type?

IGN: That answer was so great we made it our opening paragraph. Thanks! So, what advice do you have for the assassins as they go about the match? What general advice for the VIP team?

Ubisoft: For the Assault Team, there are two extraction points, so even though you may risk a few men to try intercepting the VIP halfway, you must remain watchful of these two points (snipers when line of fire allows it, motion sensors coupled with C4 charges near extractions can also work well.).

For the Defenders, it is best to keep a few men around the VIP covering his front and back, and in the worse case, to give the VIP time to escape if things go wrong. And since the extraction points are most likely to be filled with assailants just waiting for you to try and extract, it would be wise to send a few guys to try and clear the way for the VIP and the men who escort him.

IGN: I'm getting nervous because I consider myself a high-value target. How is the VIP chosen?

Ubisoft: The VIP is chosen on a random basis within the Defenders, so everyone has an equal chance (good or bad depends on your perception) of being the VIP.

IGN: Just to give everyone an example, take us through the set up of Assassination on the Calypso Casino map. Where do the teams start, where is the extraction, and where does the action tend to heat up?

Ubisoft: The team with the VIP starts in the basement in the computer room, and the Assault team starts on the roof. The VIP needs to get to the chopper on the roof. Depending on how the Assault team decides their strategy, the fight will either occur in a doorway of the roof because the defender team is camping near doors waiting for the VIP or in the casino. The casino is a hard place for the VIP to go through, since snipers can get you by the skylight or in cover behind slot machines. It's a really nice complex map for the Defenders to protect their VIP.

IGN: Yeah, we enjoy that map. So tell us about Total Conquest. We love these "Battlefield" type modes. Does yours do anything different than other games out there?

Ubisoft: In previous Rainbow Six games this multiplayer mode was won by holding the most satellites at the end of the allowed time or if you gain possession of all three satellites for 30 seconds. To prevent matches from being too short, we changed it to a system of cumulative points. Every second a team holds a satellite, the team gets 5 points, 2 satellites 10 points per sec, and all three gives them 25 points per second. The number of points needed to win a match is set before the game starts; it can be set between 1,000 to 8,000 points. An 8,000 point game is challenging because killing the other team gives you no points but is just as cool.

IGN: Is there an advantage to controlling a radar station other than, you know, winning the game? Do you get extended radar or something equally radical?

Ubisoft: Simply put: if you don't control a radar stations, you can't win. Killing opposing team players doesn't give you any points; the only way to score is to hold the radar stations as long as you can. The more radar stations you hold, the more points you're awarded, the team to reach the limit score wins.

IGN: Even though we have an entire team dedicated to walk-throughs, can you walk us through a Total Conquest match on Calypso Casino map? Where are the radar stations, where do teams begin, and what's the best strategy as you play this match? Stay as a team, split up? Run and hide? What say you?

Ubisoft: Team Alpha starts in the security rooms next to the vault; Team Bravo starts on the one side of the roof. There's one radar in front of the Vault, one in the slot Machine room and one on the other side of the roof. The match starts and both teams go for the radars that are on their levels. Since they are rather close they can start scoring some points as soon as possible. Then it's a rush to get to the slot machines room to get the second radar. It will feel more like trying to survive the bullet-fest going on there. The best way to win these matches is to split the team in three groups, each having precise radar to capture and protect. One group is set to protect the nearest radar, the more aggressive players really should be trying their luck on the middle radar since this is where most of the combat is going to happen, and the sneakiest players ought to get the furthest radar, trying to avoid contact, doing the detours, and getting the radar behind the enemies' backs.

IGN: Hmm, we like being sneaky. Thanks for taking the time and we're excited for the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas Player's Pack Red Edition. Is that the best title you could come up with?

That full-on 6v6 in Vegas last night was fun and frustrating. It was fun because at times it was just pure chaos...guys running all over, killing each other. Trying to out flank the other team. Dvinny saying some really funny crap. Yet it was frustrating because of lag and equipment. Not only did it happen to me a few times....but I watched as countless times my teammate would flank someone....put a full clip (15 rounds) into someones head.....and not one of them registered as a hit...only to get killed a second later from 1 single shot. And it doesn't help things that I'm on the bottom rung as far as experience and all the kick ass armor/weapons are still not available to me yet. Overall...it wasn't too bad though. We seemed to win most of them thanks to this one guy who literally would get 30-35 kills each match while only dieing like 7 or 8 times (and he was running around in a tank top and not a single piece of armor :confused: )

That was kind of my problem as well. I would just kind of be exploring round instead of killing people because I have no clue where I was going and stuff. I would be like 0 kills and 5 deaths before I got the hang of the map and started getting some kills.

MS SUX.....well my 360 has been freezing for some time.....last weekend I couldn't play for more than 30 min (if I was lucky) w/o it freezing up. During the week I was actually able to get in 1-2hrs with no freezing. Last night was playing TW07 with a friend. We got to the 17th hole and it froze. Now it won't even turn on. I hit the power switch and it IMMEDIATLEY freezes. The Silver X ball won't even come up. Then sometimes I get lucky and the X ball comes up but then immediately freezes. I can't even get to the dash board (no games are in the console and I've popped off my HD).

It took a whole week but I'm supposed to get my box today to ship it back to them for a replacement. I'm REALLY pissed off and no one can do anything about it. I just don't get how MS could actually put out a POS like this. How is it possible that they are permitted to sell faulty equipment.

AHHHHH....I have a 3-day weekend this weekend and I'm going to be w/o my 360.....Welcome to the most boring weekend EVER.

They've sped the process up supposedly so it almost always takes less than 5 days (depending on where you live I guess). A friend's box went bad, from the time he called it in, received the empty box, mailed off his xbox, and received the repaired one took 4 days.

Yeah, that sounds right. He was on my friends list for a while and appears to have removed me. We played a few games of NHL '07 when it came out and had a good time. so last night was the first time i've yelled at my tv about a game i was playing in quite some time. i got my ass kicked by the sharks 5-0 my goalie just should have left the net would have been the same. what a frustrating night. oh well back at it later tonight.

Good game of Gears last night guys. I swear if there wasnt a chainsaw I would have no kills. I cant believe I actually lead a match with points, and over 300 points at that! That's alot of chainsaw kills. :D

What exactly do you need to know? To enchant items you need to have an enchanting alter at your disposal. The 2 I know of are in the Arcane University and the one at Frostcrag Spire (frostcrag spire requires candles to work). To recharge items you just click on a soul gem that you have (has to have a soul in it) then apply it to your weapon. The crappier the soul gem the less the weapon is recharged. When it comes to enchanting the crappier the soul gem the crappier the enchant. Best you can get is a grand soul gem with a grand soul trapped in it. Black soul gems (which are downright impossible to find) are the same as grand soul gems but you can capture human souls in them.

Is it a spell I just haven't gotten yet, or do I have it and am to stupid to realize it? Also, from what you just said, I assume it has to be a beastie of some sort? (unless it's a black soul gem.)
Do I need to conjure the creatures and then capture them?

"Soul Trap" is indeed a spell. You probably just need to find which school sells it and then go to that guild and buy it from one of the members inside.

Theres a spell called "soul trap". You cast it right before something is about to die so when it does die you can trap it's soul inside of a soul gem. Most grand souls can't be found until you are over level 20 thats when you start seeing different Lords.

You can turn a grand soul gem into a black soul gem once a week. When a beam of light shines down on the mountain range east of Imperial City (this happens once a week) you go to the altar that the beam shines down on and put an empty grand soul gem into it. Then wait a while and open up the altar again and the grand soul gem will turn into a black soul gem.

I just wish that after you recharged your weapon that you would still have the soul gem, but it would be empty instead of have a soul in it. It would make logical sense that, that would actually happen.
