Yeah and Tomb Raider and Burnout have been really fun and those 2 have cut into my Oblivion time. Weird thing is up until just yesterday I had never played a tomb raider game, always thought they were stupid and people were just buying them to see a videogame chicks boobs bounce....but as it currently stands Tomb Raider is one of the funner games I have on the 360 right now.

Yea, just keep talking to different people and you will find out about side quests.

Something VERY useful about Oblivion is it's load screens....while the game is loading read those things, they usually offer something that you probably didn't know.
As for finding quests heres how it works mainly. There are 4 main guilds in this game, 15 Shrines, the Arena, and random side quests.
The 4 guilds are the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood. To join the fighteres guild simply go to one of the fighters guild buildings in town and talk with someone there they'll tell you how. To join the mages guild do the same thing. To join the Thieves guild you have to steal something, get caught, go to jail then wait outside jail and someone will eventually hand you a letter on how to enter. (there are other ways to join but don't bother). To join the Dark Brotherhood you have to kill an innocent and good person then go to sleep at an inn and a dark being will find you. Just realize that some characters you kill may have an effect on the overall story so make sure whoever you kill is a safe kill.
The arena is easy to join. It's in the imperial city and you go through a series of like 20 matches.
The shrines located around the world also offer quests depending on what level you are and which shrine you're at.
Every once and a while, while walking around a town you'll see something pop up to your screen saying "new topic has appeared: blah blah". The new topic is what the townfolks are talking about...basically they are talking about a new quest for you. When you see this pop up start talking to townspeople and they'll point you in the direction of where you can pick up the quests.

like one of the random knights just walking around. they die easy and his stuff is worth a good little bit of money.

You can keep your stuff in houses and sleep there for free. It's good if you carry around a few different armors and need to drop one somewhere.

One thing...anyone going through the thieves guild have this happen? I just finished the quest where you have to steal the ring, and when I finished (I didn't kill anyone, also)...now I can't fence stolen goods to that Dar Jee guy, only Ongar in Bruma....is that a glitch or did I screw something up?

A few random tidbits of information since it's somewhat of a down time.....
1. Oblivion just released a patch with new areas, items, quests, etc. Cheap as hell to download too....all of like 150 points
2. This isn't so much great news but for me it is. Back on november 15th I bought 4 xbox 360 battery packs my friends told me to go the plug and play way but I was too stubborn and refused to attach wires to my wireless controllers. For MONTHS now I've been waiting to be able to use these damn battery packs...my time has come: http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802270
3. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is now an Xbox360 title. To anyone who has any friends what-so-ever it's a must buy title. X-Men Legends is fun as hell to play when you get 4 people together and Marvel Ultimate Alliance is basically X-Men Legends but starring the Avengers. Captain America, Thor, Wolverine, Spiderman, Ironman, etc just to name a few.
4. I've come to the conclusion that you've really gotta play Tomb Raider....after years of the game sucking it's really come back in a great way
5. Gamestop is running a +10% on trade-ins, +$10 per every 5 games traded in, and +10% extra with gamestop card deal. I went there today and traded in every last xbox game I owned and my gamecube and am now considered rich by the standards of normal people...I'll be featured in the next issue of Forbes for the man with the most store credit in the history of store credit.
As for JaylisJayP.....my game got stuck on that same mission. Stole the rings and couldn't finish the quest....got stuck in a save dead end where I couldn't advance or go back and had to start my game over. I'm a warrior now and just killed an entire town full of people with my claymore....luckily they attacked first clearing me of all guilt. Funny story....after I killed the first wave of 8 people everyone else ran into their houses....to which I hunted them down and cut them in half.
PS - Seriously look into Tomb Raider....the game is no joke. At the very least rent it...you can probably beat it in a weekend.

If you don't suck then it shouldn't be an issue. By the time you are done with the Dark Brotherhood you will have killed plenty of people and by time you are done with the thieves guild you will have stole thousands of coins worth of goods. The key of course is not getting caught....if no one sees you then you never did anything.
Simply don't get caught....and if you feel as if you are going to get caught doing something then get to guild master in all of the other guilds before finishing that quest. Once you are guild master who's going to kick you out? You?

Do you guys play on the standard gameplay difficulty with Oblivion? My son wanted to make a character so we did that together and he had a rough time so I ended up getting him through the sewers and stuff while he basically just watched. Then, this weekend, my daughter wanted to make a female character for her and we adjusted the difficulty slider all the way down and it's so easy. Even the largest of enemies only take one or two strikes to defeat.

Anyone care to help a 360 newbie out? I have a couple questions that the people at BestBuy haven't answered.
I've read that Madden360 is kind of basic. Since I'm really into the Franchise mode I've decided to just wait for 07. Do I need Xbox Live to get roster updates? Are NCAA rosters/draft classes available like on the PS2 version?
On that same line. Will the new Head Coach game be conpatible? I don't think it's going to be released on 360 just regular Xbox. Do you need to do anything special to play Xbox games on the 360??
Besides online gameplay is there any reason to pop for Xbox Live?
I'm sure I have more questions but that's all that come to mind. Thanks.

Can't answer your other questions, but I can say that for me the xbox live is a great way to keep in contact with friends that live back home. I moved away for a job and the worst part was not being able to hang out with my friends on a Friday night. Now its like we are all sitting in the same place, but at home with wives/kids/girlfriends etc or live out of town.
Overall I would say pop for the online play, or at least try it for a couple months. Some games are very different online and open up a different part of the games expierence. I haven't even touched the actual missions in GRAW because I keep playing it online. I expect that eventually I'll get to them. The online campaigns kept me and some friends busy for a while.

Madden360 is very basic and not worth your time if you like Madden games based on it's realism. Too many glitches and too many features missing....the review feature missing is really the worst possibly thing to go missing because I can't tell you how many times I've caught a ball out of bounds and had it called a catch
You do need Xbox Live to get roster updates unless you send someone who does have xbox live your hard-drive or memory card then they can do the downloading for you.
Your 360 can connect and communicate with your PC so I wouldn't be suprised if it would be REALLY easy to get NCAA rosters online and feed them directly to your 360.
The head coach game is coming out for the 360 as to if it's compatible or not....I don't know, I never knew it was actually supposed to be compatible.
As for needing xbox live for anything else other then gaming....thats a tough one that I personally don't know....I'm not sure if you need Xbox Live to be able to get to the xbox marketplace...the xbox marketplace is something you'll DEFINATELY want to visit at least once a month...if you can get to it with just a basic internet connection then no you won't need xbox live. But I think the marketplace alone is worth the price of admission for xbox live....the online gameplay is only icing on the cake.

Thanks guys. I'll have to look into the Live. I guess I'll pick up one of those wireless connectors that plug right into the 360. I've really only played Madden online before. I usually just got aggravated by the people I've played against but if I need it for rosters then so be it. :D
I can't find Head Coach for preorder on the 360. Just the regular Xbox. I'll have to search around more.

I still have like 3/4 of GRAW to do yet. Not going very fast on that game.
Really really addicted to Tiger Woods. I completely disagree with almost all of the reviews I've read. I mean the graphics could be a lot better, but the changes they've made to the gameplay and Career mode are awesome. It's so much better than any of the last ones I've played. So far this is definitely one of the best games I've bought.

I haven't even touched GRAW since a week after it came out. Between Oblivion and Tomb Raider I don't see myself ever getting back to it at least for a little while. It was a really fun game though, one of my favorites on 360, just gotta take a backseat for now.

It's a great game. I can't really give a formal review mainly because I haven't had enough hands on time with it (been switching between it and Oblivion but Oblivion usually wins out). But anyways with the time I have had with it the movement is so fluid it's amazing. You've got so many different controls to help you get around and climb through each level but all of them are so easy to pull off. The puzzles are decently fun, and can be solved with common sense not those impossible puzzles they like to throw into some games. Shooting is pretty easy and straight forward, you can lock on to targets, jump all over the place to dodge fire while firing yourself. Overall I'd give the game a 8.3-8.5. A few more hours tacked onto the game and I think it's easily in the 8.9-9.1 range but the game is entirely too short.
It definately a game you have to at the very least rent. One renting period and a decent amount of offtime should get you through the game in 1 weekend. Which sucks, but you will have a fun time playing what little game there is.

I'm getting Burnout Revenge for my birthday this weekend. For you guys that enjoyed it when it was released do you still play it often? Just wondering if I should take the receipt and exchange it for a different title, something I might enjoy more before I even open it. I've heard that there was an update last week that has really screwed up EA's Live servers making it hard to race without being booted. I did enjoy the last Burnout, I think it was Takedown, on the original XBox but it wore a little thin and didn't last terribly long.
I already have PGR3 to satisfy my racing needs. I also have Oblivion and GRAW (trading in soon - I hate this game). I'm interested in Tiger Woods (enjoying the demo), the new FIFA game, or possibly Fight Night. Hey, I just realized all of these are EA:eek:

My friend actually made me buy burnout saying that I wouldn't regret it since it's such a great game. Luckily he was right. To this day the 2 of us have put in 23 hours worth of game time and we STILL aren't done with the world tour. We've also had at least 2-3 geek-out moments were you get entirely too excited that you've accomplished something in a videogame. Some of the races are so hard you can't help but jump out of your seat and celebrate after you've wasted a full hour trying to get perfect on 1 race.
It's a very good game if you are a fan of completing everything in games. I personally like to try to do everything I can in a game and if you try doing that with Burnout it will take FOREVER. If you just casually play games and don't really care about story modes and getting perfects the game might wear on you quickly.
I've yet to even take the game online but I can safely assume playing Burnout online could quite possibly be the funnest thing ever.
Also I don't really like your alternatives....you should probably wait until this years Tiger Woods, FIFA is decent but it's not Winning Eleven which you should also wait on, and you should already own Fight Night, and to be honest I'm a little ashamed of you for not having it yet.

Hey, I just bought a house so the fun spending has been frozen for awhile;) . I did pick up Oblivion based on your reviews and I'm eternally grateful for that - just wish I had more time for it. So what do you think Chugga, Burnout Revenge or Fight Night:R3? If you could only have one which would it be? I've had both demos downloaded and I played and enjoyed them both.
Chugga
04-19-2006, 01:30 PM
Thats a tough choice....both are great games, but very different.
Fight Night's career mode will last you a weekend at best. It will be somewhat fun but after a while you'll get the feeling that they are just throwing randomly generated people at you (well I guess they do, but you get the idea). The games online modes can range anywhere from "flat out amazing" to "oh my god why did I buy this game". I've played online with friends before (actually me and CJF28 just had 4 matches the other night) and we both had a hell of a time. Then theres the other side of the spectrum where you go online and play 10 year old kids that don't even know what boxing is and instead of spending their time researching how to be an effective boxer they've researched how to be absolute cheese. And believe me they've done their homework. Other then that the game can be really fun if you've got friends coming over that like the sport and want to get into the ring and just start beating the crap out of each other. The replay value of this game is based solely off of how much you like boxing and how much your friends like boxing because playing the computer over and over is downright painful, even at the highest level a computer opponent can't compete with someone who simply knows how to operate around a boxing ring.
Then you've got Burnout Revenge. It's career mode will take you a long time....it's not something that can just be done over a weekend....I play more Xbox360 then I care to admit to and despite that it's still taken me over a month and I still haven't beat the career mode. (where in comparison it took me a day and a half to beat Fight Nights story). The online modes are exactly what you'd expect from a game like Burnout....it's Burnout but with real people trying to screw you over. Some look at that as a plus, some as a minus. All of the game modes are online modes also so thats a pretty big deal. Races, Crashes, Time Attacks....all translate over to online. The controls are fairly easy to pick up so if you've got friends coming over you'll likely whoop them but they'll likely take you down 1 or 2 times allowing them to talk trash no matter how crappy they are. As for replay value it all depends on your dedication to the game. If you want to breeze through the game and get all bronze metals and neglect all of the crash scenarios the game will still take you a while to beat but maybe a couple weeks at most. If you want to perfect everything, get the achievements, etc the replay value is absolutely ridiculous. You'll be doing races over and over and over seeing where you can cut off 2 seconds just to get your car over the line in the target time. If you forsee yourself wanting to master Burnout Revenge your looking at nearly 2 months if not more worth of time being invested into the game. Burnout is a timesink...theres no other way around it...sit back one afternoon, get your custom tracks up and playing and just start chipping away at the story mode piece by piece. It's not easy but it's fun.
What it all comes down to is exactly how much do you like Boxing? Both games get alot of their play time out of how much you want to master them. If you are content just winning the title in Fight Night and calling it a day doing so probably won't take you more then a week. If you want to just get Burnout done and over with 2 weeks at the most and you'll have everything you need unlocked. But like I said if your dedicated it extends Burnouts playtime by over a month and Fight Nights by weeks. To this day I still spar people in Fight Night just to keep myself sharp and figure out new ways of fighting.

That pretty much summed it up nicely Chugga.
To be completely honest, I am not impressed with Burnout that much. I played the hell out of it for ps2, and was a bit dismayed that it's essentially the same game. So, that's it for me for now, at least, until I get my live up and running. BUT, if you have never played this Burnout before, or like Chugga said, if you are a completist and love racing games, this is a GREAT one.
The sense of speed alone is worth the price. Playing this compared to Gran Turismo or even PGR is quite an eye opener. Never have I played a racing game and felt such a rush of speed. At first it's a even a bit overwhelming, you feel like you can careen out of control in an instant, and sometimes you do, especially what a rival is trying to take you out. Plus, there is just tons to do. Tons. It took me a looong time to get most of the stuff done in the ps2 version, and this is same. You can't go wrong with this title or FN. Just depends on your tastes.
And that's saying a lot coming from me, I am a FN junkie. Stats, boxers, etc, I really don't get tired of playing it. I had 4 careers going at once just to get all the trunks. I don't mind playing against the Com AI, but it is really great to play other people. I am a perfectionist, and am still trying to get my 19 CABS to look exactly like their real life counterparts.
And you probably already read my opinion of Tiger Woods. Great game. Can't wait for the updated one later this year. That's one that my friends and I can really get into, sometimes they bumble around in FN, and I have to go real easy on them. Plus, my GF loves playing Tiger Woods too. She loves creating characters, and now finally got into playing the game with me. Fun stuff.

Fight Night also has a "wow factor" that Burnout doesn't have. When you first throw Fight Night into your 360 and see that baby run in HD it's a thing of beauty. Especially your first knockout punch...the first time I knocked someone down I jumped out of my seat and almost knocked over the end table.
Fight Nights graphics are out of this world....amazing stuff even by Oblivions standards. Burnout on the other hand doesn't look better then PGR3, the explosions don't look that much better then Full Auto (if at all)....so it won't exactly "wow" you like Fight Night will. The first time you crash your car into an intersection with 30 other cars and then explode sending them everywhere yeah you might say "holy crap"....but it's not really the same.

Awesome. Thanks for the help guys. I'll let you know what decision I come to. How many different arenas in FNR:3 and how many different tracks in BR? Oh, and which is easier for achievements?
Chugga
04-19-2006, 02:04 PM
Fight Night has maybe 8-10 different arenas (I can't remember off the top of my head)
Burnout Revenge has a billion different tracks. Maybe 6 tracks overall but then they do them forward, reverse, different routes to take within the city, crash cities, etc.
As for Achievements it took me 2 days before I got my first achievement in Burnout....it took me 2 days to have all 1000 points in Fight Night.
Jamesweighs
04-19-2006, 02:08 PM
6 arenas in FN, I don't remember off hand how many courses in Burnout. I think there were about 6, but with many variations in each.
That's another thing though, I wasn't blown away by Burnout's graphics, I was seriously let down. They look better than the current gen, but not by much.
The achievements in FN are rediculously easy. One time through the career and you'll get them all. Unless you start on hard, then it might take you a second time. You probably can get them in about two days.
edit: Durn it Chugga, ya beat me to it!

Well I finally got 100% perfect on Burnout....man, that was no joke what-so-ever. Some of the last challenges are just ridiculous. 30 takedowns?????? 30 freakin takedowns. Half the time I'd get like 10-12 and my car would explode....finally I got into the zone on one race and blasted out 38 before my car died. My friend had to do one of the 30 takedown modes too and he got to 30 by using his dead car to explode and take out the 1 last guy he needed.
Man this game was no joke. Overall fun game although some of the challenges made me want to throw my controller directly through my tv screen....but anyways now back to Oblivion

anyone else feeling the pain of no hockey yet??
I kind of don't mind waiting though. NHL '07 is not going to be ported as NHL '06 would have been (had they made it on the 360). I kind of don't want to pick up the first version for this gen, but I don't think I can hold out for one year. I expect I'll grab '07 play it till I'm blue in the face then sell it a few months before '08 hits. But you never know.
Some things I would like to see:
1) Blood, when a player gets high sticked bad enough to cut, then it should bleed and the penalty should fit the crime.
2) I have yet to see a stick break in a hockey game (despite the fact that glass breaks?) would be even cooler if you could control the player to pass the puck with his hands while bending over
3) Better AI, I want the game to match my game play. Some versions of NHL have been boring because its literally a scoring fest.
4) for online play I would like to have the option of creating a mini-tournament. Obviously the host would have to be present for every game, but everyone can agree on when to get together for their games.
5) I want the graphics to be so real its ******ed
Thats it I guess.
EDIT: Actually, for the online tournament, you wouldn't even need a host. You could create the trny with a password then each player logs in and plays their games against each other at an agreed time. The trny info can be hosted by EA.

I agree with the above. I can't wait for the '07 hockey games. NHL2k6 was a crappy port to the 360 and after spending months on my season with the Blackhawks on the original XBox I just wasn't up for starting over again on the 360 and it really wasn't that impressive.EA's NHL '06 was unplayable on the original XBox for me because it wasn't even 480p and I game on a 57" screen. With what we've seen EA do on textures and ultra-realistic character modeling (a la FN and NBA Live) I think their hockey is going to be awesome! And a Nascar game could be quite awesome too.
I would just like to see some great animations and cut-scenes in a hockey game this year, *more realistic boardplay, *maybe a rivalry meter between certain players on opposite teams. *A shift-time pop-up on the scoreboard for the superstars like NBC is doing this year. *Accurate masks for all goaltenders, * *broken sticks (I like that idea Smokis), *full all-star skills competition and game, *AHL teams!!!, *highlights every night from other games around the league in season mode.

I've decided to go pick up one of those Live kits. Which unfortunately leads me to more questions. :D
Does anyone have one of the 360 Wireless receivers?? If so do they work? I hate to spend $100 on one if it doesn't.
Which Gold membership is better? One is $50 for 1 year plus a bonus month the other is $70 for 1 year, another headset, and a $20 coupon off any game I suppose??
Last question. My son has a regular Xbox in his bedroom. Can both his Xbox and the 360 be hooked up to the same Live account?
Thanks.

I'll try and answer....
1) I don't have a wireless receiver. But if you can and its not a big thing to do. Use a wired connection. Its likely more reliable. I notice on the wife's laptop that it can be slow at times because its wireless.
2) I recently bought the gold membership off ebay with the extra headset. I did this because I wanted an extra headset and needed the membership anyway. The $20 off is actually a rebate btw. Going forward, I don't plan on buying the boxed version, but rather just 1 year cards. Actually, I will be buying a 12 month card soon so my wife can log into xbox live with the other headset. We play online with some other friends and its nice not having to relay everthing people say. You also get some xbox live points, forget how many.
3) I'm not 100%, but I'm sure you can have the account on the original xbox and the 360. Just not both on and logged in at the same time. As far as I know, you can go anywhere and log in to your account. i.e. if you take your gamercard saved on a memory card to a friends, you can log into your account there.

I just wanna add a little on Fight Night. You know, I don't even like boxing and I love this game! I just played the demo and I had to have it. I've had it for a while but just started the career mode like a week ago. I play my games pretty slowly so I'm not even halfway there after a week. It does kinda feel a little like random guys over and over after a while but it's still cool. And I agree with Chugga about the "wow factor". The first time I saw a knockout punch in slow mo I was like "HOLY CRAP!!" lol. It doesn't get old for a while too, the graphics amazing you I mean.

Regarding the wireless question, I play wireless. But I'd say just buy a wireless gaming bridge, it's a lot cheaper than getting the Xbox brand one and I use it for my PS2 as well. I bought a used one for a little under 50 bucks off ebay and it works great. And I'm in my game room that's in my backyard while my router is inside my house a good 50 ft. away. Thanks again guys. I'll look into the gaming bridge. I believe linksys makes one because I thought about getting it for my PS2 as well awhile back.
I do have a long Cat5 wire that I run to my PS2 when I just want to download new roster updates and such. I can't leave it run all the time because I'm putting my house on the market and have to keep it looking neat. So I thought I'd give wireless a try. I use my laptop in the same room with no problems so hopefully I'll be ok.
Sounds like the $70 package is the best to go with then? Is the rebate on any game I buy? I just picked up Tomb Raider yesterday so hopefully I can use it on that.

What I want are:
Dark Sector
Chromehounds
Lost Planet
I hope that E3 has more games that I want or else the 360 might turn out like the regular Xbox with just fighters, racers, and FPS's.

Chugga and Jamesweighs, I elected to keep Burnout Revenge. I like it, but I can see how tough it's going to be to get 'perfects' in everything. I'm close on the first rank already though. I also traded GRAW in at Gamestop and got $36 in store credit, which surprised me - I thought that was a pretty good amount. I picked up Top Spin 2 with the credit and the silver faceplate to match most of my other components.
Jamesweighs
04-24-2006, 05:52 AM
Yeah, I rented Burnout this past weekend. Kinda miffed that it IS exactly the same game, but it's still fun as hell. Still happy I remember the little tricks to getting perfects on a lot of the crash stages.
I got a bit farther in GRAW. I realized that I am really looking forward to Splinter Cell, or a military game like this that doesn't have team dynamics. I really enjoy the solo stages. Half the time my team jumps out too early and get themselves shot. Sometimes I just leave them behind a bit, clear an area, then have them follow.
Ruutu, let me know what you think of Top Spin, and for god's sake, get Fight Night already.:D :p
Oh yeah, anyone got any opinions on Forza for xbox?
I am looking for a circuit racing game like GT, and I think this one might do just fine. Play well on the 360? More sim like?

04-24-2006, 01:13 PM
It's cool that you kept Burnout....just a little while after we were talking about it I finally beat it with all perfects although those last races are just ridiculous. Every objective has a little quirk to it though that will put you into perfect. I'll give you a hint right now.....boost is overrated in all events outside of races. In alot of cases boost will actually hurt you more then help you.
But anyways as for Top Spin that was another solid pickup....my initial review of it was a little harsh. The game is actually alot more dependant on taking risks which I applaud because in the original Top Spin some points could LITERALLY take 20 minutes when playing against friends around the same skill level. The A button is now your safe button...you can hit it however you want and your ball won't go out of bounds or into the net....only downside is they really tuned down the A button this year. Last year with the right player the A button could be just as deadly as the B button. That isn't the case anymore....now you need to rely on the risk of hitting the B button. B button also means the ball can go out of bounds and can go into the net. But for the risk you take it's usually amazing reward. The counter shots are amazing as I just figured out those are by far the most powerful shots in the entire game and NONE of them can go out of bounds....so I'm psyched to start using those with my created character.
The career mode is somewhat of a mixed bag.....at first it's cool as hell....then it's the most tedius thing in the world. Problem being is you can't elect how long the tournaments are or how many games/sets you have. But on the same note a great feature about career mode is you can't choose what difficulty level to play on. You play on a pre-determined difficulty level so that your horrible rookie won't be tearing through Federer anytime soon. Usually takes about a year or maybe a year and a half until you can actually do any type of damage to the top ranked players. Then of course this leads to another downside....once you start doing damage to the top ranked players it never stops....you for the most part turn into a deadly tennis assassin who can take out anyone with pretty much no problems what-so-ever. So thats the cool part...year one is mostly training and a few tournaments that get progressingly difficult, early in year 2 you start to get invited to play with the big boys and will likely have to give your all to win or you'll take a beating but a cool beating, a beating that you feel you earned and can do better next time. Then halfway through year 2 you turn into the superman of tennis and for the next 3 and a half years you are untouchable.

here's my take on FN3, Burnout, and Top Spin 2...
FN3 gets a little old on single player, but once I get online, it should be a blast to play against others.
Burnout is uber fun IF you alter your mind *wink, wink*, but otherwise is the same O, same O.
Top Spin is starting to grow on me, as my first impression was the same as Chugga's. It too, looks like it will be a cool online game. After about a week of playing it, I'm ranked in the top 10. Thought I was getting pretty good, until I took on some dude (Snyder? or something like that). He kicked my butt like a wicked stepchild.
Chugga
04-24-2006, 01:57 PM
Snyder is your rival...he's the only player in the game worth a crap once you level up. Snyder sends me emails every week with corny jokes in them "wow you won a game, I suppose I should start watching out for pigs flying too"....yet he sends me this email when I'm undefeated and have 10 trophies to my name. He's not the brightest but if you level up right he's just as crappy as everyone else. I have 10 stars in power, forehand, backhand, reflexes, percision, and speed. I can't play the net, or serve for the life of me but I can place a ball where ever you want me to on the court and chase down anything you try to get past me.
DarkRaven

i only have about 6 gold stars, so you're waaay ahead of me. funny thing, tho, once i started playing tournaments, it doesn't allow me to do any more training. does that end, once you get the 60 points/ stars?

Basically for me I was winning so many tourneys that as I was getting the bronze stars I was getting silver and gold right along with them. Once you get all 60 bronze stars your training ends and advanced training is opened up. Advanced training teaches you all of the left trigger shots. My best advice to you is go after those stars as soon as you can. You'll have seasons 2 through 5 to get to first place and get 1,000 points (for the achievement)....the quicker you get those stars though the quicker you can take down the big names. Also those specialty events are huge star givers so make sure you do a couple of those. Theres one specialty tournament hosted by a billionaire thats called something like the billionaires challenge and it gives you 30 silver stars and 30 gold stars. I think that challenge is unlocked after you are ranked number 1 in both regular standings and RACE standings.
Remember the stars are the keys to victory. Once you get a maxed character theres really no one in the entire game that can touch you...even Snyder can only take maybe 1 game from me if he's lucky. The only player who has ever defeated me in my entire career so far was Coria...I lost to him in the finals of a tourney early in season 2. But like all the other players in the game he's just one huge puzzle....next time I played him I won 3-0, 3-0, 3-0.

Since we're on the subject of Top Spin 2 here:
On the original XBox (Top Spin 1) I seem to remember that once you were in a tourney you couldn't save the game after, say, your first round and continue it later could you? If you could I never figured out how to do it. I remember having majorly red thumbs after tournaments because I had to win 3 or 4 consecutive matches. Am I wrong about that and is TS2 the same way if I'm not?

I've got Tomb Raider and it's pretty fun, just really short. As for playing older games do you mean on Xbox Live Arcade or Backwards Compatibility. For the Live Arcade I know this summer they are supposed to release a new bunch of games. And as for backwards compatibility somewhere in this thread someone said they'd be adding more games soon.

man what's with 360 putting out all these super short games? Are they really worth anything near 60 bucks? Tomb Raider, King Kong, Gun, etc... what the hell?
I've got more than 72 hours into Oblivion and I anticipate getting to 100 easy before beating the game. Now that's worth 60 bucks.

I think if you are going to put out a game that takes less then 10 hours to beat you can't come out with a $60 price tag. Tomb Raider while amazingly short was fun as hell for as long as it lasted. Perfect Dark on the other hand....well that was a cheap title but still shouldn't have gone for more then $10 with how crappy that game was.

Finally beat GRAW last night. And yes, I did use the codes for a section or two. call me lame, but at least I had fun. Didn't need them for most of it. And now that I beat it, I can't get enough of it. I worked a half day yesterday and literally played through half the game. Apparently I wasn't as far in the game as I thought when I left off.
What a great game. Totally got the hang of the team thing finally too, if you use them correctly, they can be a tremendous asset. Going through it again now. Playing a bit in first person. Not bad. Anyone else play in first person?
And I bought Forza too, and ordered the backwards compatible disk from MS. But they are on backorder for a bit. Guess PGR will have to keep me busy for a while yet.

Every year is a crazy year at E3. You really do need three days to go through and see everything. If you're out to play and see everything it can get pretty crazy. Lines to look at the PS3 last year were like two hour waits. And to play Zelda's Twilight Princess, it was an hour for that. It all depends on when you get there and what you want to see first.
Plus there are lots of fun little contests that are scattered around everywhere too. There's just soo much stuff to see and swag to get. I have so many t-shirts that I've never even worn, that I'm about to just dump them to Goodwill or something. It's a lot of fun crap.
It's the mecca for video game heads. Booth babes might be down this year, but there's still plenty to see and experience!

Not really impressed with Virtua Tennis 3 and I'm kinda worried about the game after playing Virtua Tennis 2. The original Virtua Tennis was flat out amazing, one of the best tennis games ever created along with Top Spin. But I see one huge problem with Virtua Tennis 3. Top Spin seemingly has every single big name locked up to be in their games...and those Virtua Tennis pics look like generic guys. To me I think licensing is a huge part of any sports game even tennis.

I don't even think you can say gameplay over players in tennis games though because it's been proven that the most basic of gameplay can really make a tennis game classic. I've never watched a full tennis match before in my life and maybe only seen bits and pieces of a couple matches at most. I think it's safe to say in terms of gameplay the difference between top spin and virtua tennis will be minor for the most part leaving the majority of the burden on who is licensed. I mean look at Madden...the years that game didn't have the NFL license were flat out horrible....it could have had superior gameplay but the game itself was unplayable...I remember the first time I played the Buffalo Bison vs. the Miami Sharks (or whatever the names were) and I'm pretty sure the first time was also the last time I played it.

I guess it depends on the sport chugga, but I see your point. With Tennis or soccer, I wouldn't know too many of the pros anyway. Gameplay is definitely a plus that virtua tennis has going for it, at least for those who remember the original, I agree with you about 2, not so hot.
But I feel the same way with Fight Night as I do with Football games, names and licenses are key. That's a big reason I really don't care about the career modes in boxing games, unless I am fighting a big name fighter, it doesn't MEAN much to me at all. Although, Victorious Boxers is one title that comes to mind where the gameplay was so stellar that not having pros was acceptable. That engine was great, thank god EA took it and ran.

Just went down and picked up a rechargeable battery pack and the quick charge kit with the last of my store credit. They had the new FF, but I'm not one for RPG's.
Also, they've released the patch for MLB 2K6 as well as published a roster update.
Anyone have any interest in an online league? I've yet to play online, and probably won't unless there is someone here who would be interested in playing. I don't like getting stuck with the 16 year old talking turd.

I've declared these wireless controllers the nicest controllers I've ever used.
My wife who hasn't gamed since the NES days just picked these things up and within a week has gotten pretty good learning how to use controllers with analog. I think the controllers design really helped.

Xbox has always had pretty nice controllers. Dare I say it but I loved their giant 20 pound controllers they originally released. When you got big hands the original Xbox controller was downright amazing. The S type improved on that design with it still being a good sized but mapped out better and now this new generation controller is damn near perfect. Probably one of my favorite controllers of all time along with SNES, N64, PS2, and now 360's controller.

I agree. I love the 360 controller. Mainly because it's laid out similarly to the PS2 controller. I hated both the anchor and the s (though it was better) on the original xbox. I never could get used to the black and white buttons. I prefer the 2 sets of shoulder buttons instead.
I hooked up to Live over the weekend. I went with the Wireless Adaptor from Microsoft. It's working great so far. Course all I've done is download some demos and played that Billards game that came in the starter kit. :D
FN3 demo kicks arse. I can't wait for the game to get here so I can read the directions and figure out what I'm doing.
I do have a question. I read you guys talking about game updates or patches. Where do you find these? My son was looking for the one for Oblivion and couldn't find it. Do they download automatically when you play the game or something?

There's actually a section on the Live blade that is called "Game Downloads" or something to that effect. Once you open that you get a choice of your games played or all games, click on Oblivion and that will bring up the slider from the left that has all of the downloads for that game, including the now infamous horse armor download;)
Another way to do it, I think, is to look at your games played section on the Games blade and highlight Oblivion. Once you bring that up there should be a few choices. One is achievements, one is details or something, and the final one should be 'downloads' - that should take you to the same screen.

I have a couple questions too.
1) Has anyone heard anymore on the XBLA Free Poker game? I'm looking forward to that, I definitely think we should all get together and play that one - would be fun to have some Spawnie XBox poker nights
2) On Burnout Revenge, what am I not doing on the races to get 'perfect' ratings? There's two races on the first ranking that I have yet to get 'Perfect' on and it's got me wondering why. Specifically, both races are on that Miami circuit. The first one is a burning lap event and I have beaten the Gold time of 1:25:00 a few times to get Gold but I only get a great rating. I've done some awesome drifting, awesome boosting, taken a couple shortcuts, done a couple traffic checks, but still haven't gotten 'perfect' and I can't figure out what more it wants from me. There's also a race-reverse on that same circuit, where it's the same deal, I've done takedowns, awesome boosting, awesome drafting, won the race, gotten Gold medals, but still no 'perfect' rating. What gives?

I don't have any solid ideas on how to get awesomes other then make sure you are constantly in oncoming when it's safe, constantly boosting and drift around every corner that warrants it. First and foremost though you need to be in that oncoming to keep getting boost. In a burning lap there should never be a time when you aren't boosting or taking short cuts.
This RARELY happens though...in all the races I played in that game I honestly can't think of many where I finished them gold but didn't get awesome....awesome is usually just something that sooner or later happens.

That game is no joke on vet. I remember when I beat it on veteran I nearly cried tears of joy. I hit 2 rough spots playing it. For the most part I was always optimistic about being able to beat it on vet. My friend was like "you'll throw your controller on hill 400, don't even bother". But strangely enough Hill 400 was one of the easier ones for me mainly because all you do is rambo most of the level and I'm pretty sure they give you extra hitpoints on that level because I got drilled a few times and was able to recover where normally on veteran you get drilled once and it's game over. But anyways the level that really made me wonder if I should just stop playing was the one where you have to clear out the houses. I think there were 6 houses to clear out and 5 of them were cake, but that 1st one was just flat out brutal. The other part that made me pull my hair out was more my fault then anything else, I got saved into a checkpoint of hell where I was surrounded everytime I'd load the game up.
But anyways big congrats to getting it done on veteran. It's really one of those sacred achievements

Thanks. It was crazy hard. I had a really hard time on the same level you did clearing out the houses except I had problems with the last house. Turns out I was flanking from the wrong side.
I was expecting Hill 400 to be insanely hard, especially once you get to the top of the hill, but I found it to actually be one of the easier levels. The last level was pretty easy as well. Watching the bombers fly by at the end of this level is a nice treat knowing that your just one mission away from the end.
When I was done the game, I stood up off my couch and raised my hands in victory. I've noticed that some games give you achievement points for basically just putting games in the console, but the 1000 points for COD2 are the hardest earn points I figure I'll get for a while.

Hate to post again, but here is some info.....
The official word for MS is that the downtime tomorrow is strictly maintenance and nothing more. There will be no dashboard updates or anything else.
The rumours:
1) After these updates are done, at E3, MS will be able to make an announcement about an upgrade to the dashboard and somehow flick a switch and boom you have new features.
2) Xbox.com and the dashboard will have more integrated features, ie. sending messages to friends while they are in games, MS webcam support (don't know why they would make the upgrade now when the cam isn't out for months, but I guess some don't think on that kind of level).
3) Major overhaul of the dashboard.
What I believe is likely:
1) its just maintenance
2) possible minor upgrades to fix minor bugs that most people don't notice
3) some added E3 content (possibly watch MS' E3 conference live?)
4) Neo and Morpheus have control of the xbox servers and its time to get them out.

If you can get it for a discounted price it's a pretty fun game. I'm not necessarily sure I can say it's a $60 game. The game will take a pretty long time for me to beat (based solely off the fact that they require you to beat the game in so many different ways to finally complete it 100%). So replay value is definately there. You've got 18 primary story missions, then 6 bombing missions, 6 dog fight missions, then 32 ace missions, and another 32 arcade fighting missions. The gameplay itself is really hit or miss. Some of the missions are really really fun while others are just annoying. Usually for ever 2 fun missions you get theres 1 thats just a complete pain in the neck.
I'd either rent the game or buy it for a very discounted price. In my book it's a good game but I have lesser standards then alot of people.

PGR is a great game, but it's not Gran Turismo. The racing is definitely more sim than arcade though, and it sure is pretty.
I played for a few hours last night and experimented with the handling of some new cars. I found that both the Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren, and the Maserati MC12 drive exactly the way I was looking for (for more of a sim type feel). Some of the faster Ferrari's tend to drift way too much and have steep learning curve. The Ferrari F50 GT is the best car in the game, but driving on Nuremburg is utter hell with it, at least for me.
Idid unlock the Toyota GT1 Road car too, handles like an F1 car, slows down very fast, and has great grip in turning.
Oh yeah, and Ruutufifteen, Sega is bringing their rally game to the 360. Should be pretty good.

Need some more help today....
I want to pick up another new game tonight and I'm wondering what I should get.
I currently have:
Top Spin 2, Burnout Revenge, Oblivion, and PGR3.
I've owned COD2, NHL2k6, and GRAW but traded those in.
Possibilites are:
FNR3
FIFA 2006 World Cup
Tiger Woods '06
NBA Live '06 or 2k6
MLB2k6
Definitely looking for a sports game this time. Pretty sure the consensus will be Fight Night, but for some reason I keep backtracking on this one - I want it, but I don't. Gameplay got old fairly quick on the last installment for me.

I've got a couple of those on your list but heres what I'd say....
Rule out MLB2K6 based solely on the number of glitches in that game. There have been a number of mixed reviews but for the most part the bad reviews are REALLY bad. Not worth the money right now, it makes a heck of alot more sense to pick up later when it's a budget title
Tiger Woods 06 isn't worth the money either. Usually for any system you only need 1 or 2 golf games max for the consoles entire life-span. Don't make your 1st and likely last golf game be the weakest of them all.
NBA Live 06 sucks...I own all 3 basketball games for the 360 and I can vouch that Live is by far the worst.
That leaves us with Fight Night, FIFA, and NBA2K6. I've got all 3 of them so this will be tough. Of the 3 games Fight Night and NBA2K6 are the most "next gen". NBA2K6 is a great bball simulation with flat out amazing graphics. Fight Night is a great boxing game with flat out amazing graphics. FIFA while is a great game and for the most part the game getting the majority of my time recently it isn't as strong as either of those 2. What it all comes down to is if you own an HDTV or not. If you don't own an HDTV do not get NBA2K6....people will tell you "well it's close enough" but the difference between player models in NBA2K6 in hd and without hd are night and day. You won't be able to truly appreciate the game without HD. Fight Night is less of an issue, it looks great regardless of what your playing it on. If you have an HDTV though then the choice is yours....either game is an excellent choice.
Since I'm a boxing fan though I've gotta put my vote down for Fight Night. Simply put it's the best sports game out right now for any system.

I actually was going to mention that if you wait about 4 months, the new version will be out. I don't regret buying it, but I can't wait for the much needed upgrade. It's probably the weakest 360 title in terms of graphics. Looks a lot like the xobx and ps2 versions, but with better water effects. Gameplay is solid, but there will be more courses and stuff in this years...
And I just love FN. I don't know how many times I've had DLH fight Mayorga the past few weeks.

Last few days I've been doing alot of Roy Jones Jr. vs. Bernard Hopkins. I really like Jones Jr. style the whole "hookmaster" thing is an entertaining change of pace (since most of my fights consist of throwing 50 million jabs). Jones Jr. is an amazing boxer in the game the only downside is he's only an amazing boxer for the first 6 rounds...he's got absolutely horrible stamina, I usually outright take the first 8-10 rounds with no problems what-so-ever....then I'm running for my life in rounds 11 and 12.

I guess what I'm looking for is a sports game that will occupy my time. I enjoy playing entire seasons - playing a game every night. NHL2k6 was great on the original XBox, and I was about 65 games into my season when I traded in the XBox and got the 360. The 360 port just wasn't that good and I didn't want to start all over again. I'm actually leaning towards the new FIFA in that regard. I realize it's only the World Cup tournament but I can see it being fun going through while playing as different countries. I've been looking at reviews and info on it and it's pretty mixed. From some people thinking it's in 480p (which would be absolutely unacceptable - I game on a 57" HD RPTV) to others saying it's great and way better than the launch FIFA:RTWC - it's a little confusing.
So, Chugga, I know you picked it up and I think you're gaming in HD as well, right? How does FIFA look to you? And are there any features that make FN:R3 a deeper game than the previous Fight Night game? I can see creating a fighter, working my way up through the career and ending up on top and that would be it for the game for me - a couple weeks and game over. I'm not a huge boxing fan and haven't really followed it in the past 5 or 10 years, with the exception of watching the Klitchko's on HBO, something about those brothers that they are fun to watch.

FIFA looks alright but since 99% of the gameplay takes place from the far camera it really doesn't look at that much better then any xbox/ps2 game. Don't get me wrong the graphics are good but when the players are so tiny on the screen you aren't exactly going to get anything too amazing. The graphics look pretty sick when you score a goal and it goes into extreme closeup celebrations...but it's soccer so that doesn't happen too often.
The new Fight Night has a couple of added story features. Press conferences are held before your big rival fights and lets just say the press conferences often turn out like Mike Tyson press conferences. Thats literally the only thing they added....if anything things are taken out as you can't customize your entrance anymore. If your the type of guy that will sit back and play a full season game by game then I'd suggest NBA2K6....start up an 82 game season and enjoy the greatness of the game. Fight Night won't last you very long if you do like 2-3 matches a day, you'll blow right through the career mode. (you'll likely do 5-10 matches a day at least since most early story mode fights don't go farther then the first round regardless of difficulty level).
Jamesweighs
05-04-2006, 12:38 PM
Well, there aren't that many different features than the previous FNs. The classic mode is about it. Those are 8 or so matches of well known fights, Hagler/Leonard, Ali/Fraiser, etc.
Other than that the career mode is about it other than online. It might take you a while to unlock all of the different styles- stance, punching, and defense, as well as collecting all of the pro's gear. I had to do several careers to get all the trunks. And it is fun to mix and match the various styles- they really do make a big difference.
The gameplay is much better than previous ones IMO, it's a hell of a lot more satisfying.
But if you aren't a big fan, there might not be a ton of replay value for you.

I love fighting with Jones Jr. They got his style down pat. I know what you mean about the stamina, seems that even if you do try to conserve energy with him, you are still hurting later. And speaking of throwing jabs, I LOVE the judge jab style. Pretty much the only one in the game that has a real snap to them. Great for countering too, does quite a bit of damage from just a jab.
Tarver/Hopkins will be the next few matches I'll do.
Chugga
05-04-2006, 12:49 PM
The only thing I don't like about fight night is how they don't have legitimate fighter styles...they have punch styles but not exactly the movement. Like take Toney for instance...if you watch his fights he stands 2 inches away from the guy he's fighting completely flat footed. I'd like to have more collision detection and improved physics. If I'm constantly pushing against a guy I should be able to slightly move him or at least lean on him and start plotting punches. Thats the problem with alot of the heavyweights....they get destroyed by the faster guys simply because they can't use their bodies to their full potential. I mean theres alot of battling for position in boxing and fight night/knockout kings has always lacked that. Right now the slower power guys just get picked apart
Jamesweighs
05-04-2006, 12:55 PM
That's a very good point. They really need to work on some infighting. Like you said about Toney. Hopkins wins fights on the inside too. They definitely need to have a mechanism for leaning on them, with short, precise, hard shots. Kinda like in GRAW when you push towards a wall, then you could have a whole new set of moves. I think if they added some clinching tatics and had a better sense of ranges it would really improve the series.
And as fight fans have cried for years (and they never really fix) give the jab a bit more power. At least have the head snap a bit. KOK01 had a good jab.
Chugga
05-04-2006, 01:12 PM
I can tear someone up with a jab even if it isn't powerful. I actually like the way the jab is now. I'll go like 7 rounds constantly throwing jabs and my opponent will think he's perfectly fine since I'm not throwing alot of hard stuff. Then all of a sudden round 8 comes around and I unleash the fury and it's usually game over. I kinda like the jab as it is now just because the person you are going against generally has no idea how bad you actually have him.
I'd just kill for more fighting styles. They don't really have the "bull style" that alot of my favorite boxers use. I just went to see Samuel Peters fight a week ago (where he knocked the dude out in the first round) and I like his style but you can't get away with doing that in fight night. Mainly because cutting off the ring and then getting a person stuck in a spot in nearly impossible. Anyone with even the slightest amount of skill can get out of any corner and off the ropes easily. When you are fighting a bull like Peters getting off of the ropes should be difficult as all hell.
Also I'd give my left arm for them to include Mike Tyson into the game. I'd love to use the style he had earlier in his career where every punch he threw could have put you down and out.

I ended up choosing FIFA:Germany WC last night. So far, I'm very pleasantly surprised with it. I had a little time to play a couple of friendlies last night and a quick practice session. I need to work on some of the controls a little as I'm just learning it but overall I can see playing this game for a while. Graphically, while certainly not next-genish, it's pretty good to me. How's it look in HD??
It looks just fine. There is absolutely no question that it is in 720p/1080i. It's not mindblowing or anything that would make you say "Holy Shizzle" or anything, but it's quite comparable to the launch title FIFA:RTWC. The grass is quite a bit different and a lot of people on forums that I read were complaining about it but it actually looks more realistic. In RTWC the grass was way too tall, yes you could see every little blade but it just looked kind of goofy to me. The menus, the intro, the cutscenes, and the goal celebrations all look really good and are actually pretty impressively done. The main view during gameplay is, as Chugga mentioned, pretty far from the action so players and objects are smaller so the detail isn't really all that great, but it still looks just fine in HD. No complaints here graphically. I'll try to take a screenshot or two tonight when I get home so you get the idea. I've been meaning to do some for a while now. But, bottom line, the game is definitely not 480p only even though there is a misprint on the packaging.
<edit> Here is a good screenshot from ign.com that shows exactly how it looks and this is what it looks like on my RPTV at 1080i:

That screen shot in itself is amazing though....not so much the players but the walls in the background and most importantly the fans....the fans look almost PS2 graphic kind of good which is absolutely amazing considering how far away they are and how many of them there are.

I haven't touched Madden in months, I was playing a really close game against my brother and his reciever ran out the back of the endzone, came back in a caught the ball for the touchdown. The gameplay just wasn't there at all, especially compared to Madden 06 on Xbox. I am hoping this year for greatly improved gameplay, the return of some features, and minor advances in graphics and player animations. I just want a better more well rounded game this time.

Stupid stuff gets to me about the PS3....no rumble feature just seems lazy to me. I can't imagine playing a game like Call of Duty without the rumble feature. Sure it sounds stupid now but when a grenade goes off right in front of you it's just not the same when your controller doesn't shake. I know I'm probably being picky but these little corners being cut are exactly what piss me off about the PS3. They cut corners around the gameplay elements so they can fit that piece of crap Blu-Ray technology into the system. Don't tell me you couldn't have force-feedback and also have the motion sensoring technology in games....you can very well disable one or the other depending on the game. Just stupid stuff like this is what annoys me about sony. Trying to sell me 50 different items none of which happen to be a videogame system.
But anyways back to 360....I really hope they bust open the show tomorrow with something amazing. Right now my loyalties are with Microsoft and Nintendo. I wanted the PS3 to work out but a $600 price tag for a glorified dvd player annoys me. Lets be honest the only reason that system is over $400 is based solely off that damn blu-ray drive.

I take back what I said about the graphics, they are actually quite good. And in terms of gameplay. Well this game is exactly it states it is going to be. A 100% driving simulation. There are no "helpers" in this game that makes you drive smoother. You screw up and you will lose control of your car, easily.
I also finally was able to race other cars (against the computer). The racing action was pretty good.
I think the game does have some great potential. I really like the in car view that most racing games don't have, although they over did the windshield affect and its really ghosted over and hard to see out of. Its like the cars front window is all dirty.

Wow they aren't messing around...literally 1 topic up I was talking about how I couldn't wait to play track & field on the Wii....apparently I won't have to wait.

k....does anyone make a 360 controller that is like the PS2 controller.
I really wanna get a next gen....but I'm not too crazy about the price/specs for the PS3...and I can't stand the controller for the 360.

You don't like the 360 controller? It's quite possibly one of the top 5 controllers of all time. It takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it theres really nothing else out there that feels more comfortable. Especially that tiny little dual shock for little people hands.

Thanks guys.... I'm really excited about the decision, but also a little nervous. Its been a very emotional couple days around here at work and I feel like I'm in a strange daze this afternoon.
And I stated in here not that long ago, but the 360 controller is the best controller I've ever used. I do like Sony's but the 360 is laid out much better and feels very natural.

It said 360 only. Rockstar went with 360 exclusively to add content via the Marketplace.

Anyone know what they anticipate having available via the Marketplace?
BTW, whoever makes Guitar Hero has acknowledged that they are looking to release a 360 edition.

12:55: Moore gets on stage and gives recap. Says games will all be playble, then Gates says "Hey Peter, let's play these people a snippet of a game they might like to see..." Crowd goes wild, trailer comes up. Halo theme plays, scen of a wartorn wasteland. Long figure can be seen therogh the smoke. Cortana alerts screen. MASTER CHIEF WALKS OUT.
12:59: HOLY CRAP, GIGANTIC Covenat dropship... dozens of them. Sky swarming with banshes over gian crater is actually a giant forerunner gateway--the gateway lights up, screen goes white, HALO 3 LOGO APPEARS.

I had a ton of fun on Live last night playing what?...........UNO!!!???
Seriously, this game was a steal @ 400 points. I stayed up way too late and probably could have stayed up all night - it was hard to stop. One of the boardies here sent me an invite so that was cool, some of the guys we played against took it a little too seriously though (Do you really need to say "Draw 4 Mutha Fu*$@"?).
It was almost worth the 50 minutes to download the game, plus another 35 to download the theme deck. Then, the g/f and I are all excited to play together and thinking about how fun it will be with the kids this weekend until we realize that there is no multiplayer. No multiplayer on the same console? That's crap.........then, duh, it dawns on us, you can't play on the same console - you would see each other's cards:o
Good Luck Smokis

UNO?! Hey that's cool.
I got to get on xbox live.
Know what game I can't stop playing? Forza for xbox. Incredible racing sim, I absolutely can't wait for Forza 2, saw some of the screenshots already and it looks amazing.
I like PGR, but the gameplay in Forza is so perfect. Graphics are definitely current gen though, especially after playing PGR. They aren't bad, but not super shiny. I do hear they look better on the 360 than on the regular xbox...
This and MotoGP will tide me over until Forza 2 or GTR.

Stupid question i know, but I'm still gonna ask...
Do you need an emulator to play the reg X-Box games.

Yeah, you need to either DL the backwards compat. coding from xbox live, or like in my case, just order the current disk with all the old games coding on it from MS (xbox.com). They also have an updated list of waht old games are compatible on there. Quite a few. Adding more each month.
Got the disk pretty quick too, even though they said it was on backorder, it was only for about a day.

man.... given my recent life altering decision. I need to find a job that lets me play video games all day. There is just so much cool stuff coming out on all platforms (well, PS3 has yet to really show anything above and beyond, but I'm sure they will hopefully come through). I think this will be the best generation in years and potentially the best to date. I found the last generation a little on the bland side, but the graphics that are coming out (with improved open worlds) and the interesting games that Nintendo has to offer makes this an awesome time to be a gamer.

I started GRAW on hard but think I will switch over to easy. I don't have that much time to game and spending crazy amounts of hours dying doesn't turn my crank anymore. And that what seems like the Hard levels are these days.
Mind you, I haven't died nearly as many times as I did with COD2.

Well, you get offed with one shot a lot. And firefights take a lot more time on hard than easy. I find I take so much more time just setting up getting into good position, takes a long time for me to get through a level now. Which I LOVE. Very slow, deliberate, thinking about different tactics, it's great.

I agree. I've stuck with my PS2 over every other system till the 360 mainly because of the controller. The 360 controller is as good as the PS2 controller. Strike that it's better because it's wireless.
Besides the 360 controller is laid out pretty much the same as a PS2 controller. I doubt you'd have any trouble using it.
