Chugga's just a little mad cause I laughed last night when he told me over our Xbox live chat that he's one of those guys who's really into karaoke...on the circuit and all. And get this...lol...his "bread and butter" song is Kelly Clarkson's "Since You've Been Gone"........ooooo...kkkkk. I thought he was joking...but alas...he was dead serious.

Dude...I'm sorry I laughed...but come on...I don't care who you are...that right there is funny. I'd give an arm or a leg to see video of one of your performances.

The question I feel compelled to ask you is how do you enjoy Kelly Clarkson music on the way to work? Last I knew they didn't release her album on 8 track and I know you still collect those. I mean they were huge when you were in your 20's. Hell you still have blisters on your hands from feverishly voting for Kelly Clarkson on your rotary phone...I know scrolling around to input 1-800-win-kelly must have been difficult. Thats alot of trips around the rotary.

See what you fail to realize is your story isn't believable. If we were to conversate on Xbox Live why would I just blabber about a ton of highly embarrassing things and then never know anything embarrassing about you. It's always a fair trade of 1 for 1. So of course when you were like "I sing 'Since you've been gone' on my way to work" and then were like "and my wife has gotten me hooked on some of the newer Christina Aguilera" I really had to reach out there to hopefully make you feel comfortable. I like your approach....deny, deny, deny then spin, spin, spin. It almost seems believable until you realize that I'm right and you're wrong.

It's almost funny reading what you say because we legitimately had this conversation. You legitimately said "what song do you bring the house down with"....but I never answered anything even remotely close to Kelly Clarkson because you had already said how much you liked her earlier. I had just turned on some awesome custom soundtracks (Journeys Anthology) while playing Fight Night and the question just randomly hit me "so what music do you listen to anyways. And you were like "I like rock, some punk rock stuff, I'm not huge on metal but I used to like a bit of Metallica". Then I was like "but how about the embarrassing stuff" and at first you said you were a Duran Duran fan....but I didn't find that to be embarrassing because Hungry Like the Wolf is a classic. Then you reluctantly said "well on my way to work I can't get that Kelly Clarkson song out of my head I'm kind of a fan of hers".

Literally about 20 minutes later I went on to admit that I am a Karaoke champion. Thats when the "what song do you think gets the ladies" question was asked followed by "what song brings down the house". My answer was anything by John Legend because he's a musical genius. You switching up these conversations completely while entertaining is kinda getting old. Just admit that you like Kelly Clarkson and find yourself singing along to her songs on occassion. Boxing, I like it because to throw combos is easy but I can't seem to get enough power behind the punches.

For hockey it wouldn't be bad but you really can't use the stick like they say you can. Because, at least for me, when I deke I end up shooting when I don't want to and not shoot when I do.

The button configuration on hockey is terrible. so your forced to use the stick.

In theory the stick is a good idea. The problem comes in when button users have an advantage over stick users. By allowing users to go back to the buttons, the stick users get screwed over. Especially in Fight Night. If they really want the stick to catch on, they need to make everybody use it. Nobody has the advantage if everybody has to use the same controls.

The right trigger passes. It's easy because your finger is most likely already resting on that button anyway.

I understand if people want to use the classic controls, but EA needs to even out the advantages. On NHL 07, the stick users have the advantage over the button users, but it's exactly the opposite on Fight Night 3. If they want people to use their new controls, the stick users need an advantage.

You should really use the stick controls. After you get them down (takes about 20 games), you can absolutely destroy the goalies with deke moves. I have one deke move that gets a goal about 80% of the time.

I know a 3rd party sells the power supply at gamestop. If you need just the cord, I would just call Microsoft and ask for one. Also, I think it uses a basic PC power supply cord (the kind that plugs in to the back of your computer). Take it to CompUSA or Best Buy and see if they have the same kind of cord.

Looking at my setup, I think I'll only need the brick. The plug end of the brick is behind my tv, which is in a "fireplace." I'm getting a new tv this week - current setup is a pain in the butt to get to the connections, so I'm going to put the 360 on my 1080p tv, and really don't want to move the world for one cord.

Does the 3rd party brick come attached with the cord, or is it seperate. Looking at mine, the cord is permanently attaced to the brick, so I would think it would be sold that way.

Also, is the 3rd party brick dependable, or is it going to burn my house down? Thanks!

i'm sure future games will incorporate it maybe similarly to how R6V does, but there just aren't many games out right now that do not making it a must have. Gettong on for $26 though isn't a bad gamble on what the future may hold for it. And besides, like oaktown said, at least you can show ur azz to other peeps... ya know, if that's your thing and all.

I did, and I must admit, I was baffled that this was called "Shadowrun". It's nothing like the old FASA RPG from years gone by, nor does it seem to be anything like the old Genesis game loosely based on that RPG series. Did they just need to use the license for something, so they put it on this? It could perhaps be a decent game, nonetheless, but the fact that they're using the Shadowrun moniker had me scratching my head. :confused:

When mine tanked the most persistent symptom was the freezing, unrecoverable game freezes about every 10 - 30 minutes. Some games were still okay though, I think these were games that didn't push the system as hard graphically.

Some freezes are ok. Oblivion freezing is one of the games gameplay features. That game freezes so much it's ridiculous. But also you gotta figure you are likely putting in 6+ hour game sessions pushing the system to it's limits. Getting caught on a load screen probably shouldn't be looked at as a system killer. I've had 3 systems die on me. 1 was DOA....opened it the day of the 360 launch and it was freezing within the first 10 minutes I owned it. The last 2 didn't have symptoms. I just randomly turned them on one day to realize nothing would read or work.

I actually got it back and I'm up and running again. YAY!

But to answer your question, you might just want to call MS and describe your symptoms. From there, they should be able to diagnose the issue and lead down the right path.

I never got the red lights or anything. What did it for me was that I seriously could not finish a single game of MLB 2K7 and then I started having issues w/ R6V. Neither game would load at all. I would just sit at the Dashboard for 10-15 minutes just hoping that the system would read the disc.

Finally, i called MS and the guy walked me through a couple of troubleshooting tips and when they didn't work, he recommended I send it back. All free of charge (prepaid UPS shipping box w/ 3-day select service. All told it was a fairly quick turnaround. I made that call to MS on 3/9 and I got it back today 3/26. It was really about a 10 business day turnaround once I sent the console back. The longest part was just waiting for the box to arrive.

Thankfully, though, I only have the Thieves' Guild to go. I'm holding off for now, though, since I saw the little warning that any killing I do while "on the clock" will cost me dearly. I jump between guild quests and side quests regularly, so I don't want to pay that kind of price, even if by accident. At least I'm almost finished with the Orrery. Next up, Frostcrag Spire!

It can be done fairly easily. The really challenging one is the "beat the game in 1 credit" achievement. That's the only achievement I can't get. If only I could hold on to my laser or spread, and not keep picking up the crap flame/circle weapon. :mad:

that weapon sucks the laser was fun though. i do like how the faster you button mash the faster your gun fires made the tunnels easier. so is the game the same as the nintendo version i've notice some differences

Yeah I've literally been playing MUA since the Hulk was announced. All my friends got hyped again for the game so I beat it on normal and now I'm just going through the training missions finishing them up to get to the Silver Surfer. So when that patch is finally released I'll have all the characters and we can play through the game on hard. It's weird because no one was really blown away by MUA when I first got it....I didn't really have a favorite character, one of my friends didn't have a favorite character, and another one of my friends was waiting on Silver Surfer....so we played through quite alot hoping to get new characters and everyone got bored with the game. Now I want the Hulk, someone else wants Venom, and like I was saying before I'm working on chipping away at Silver Surfer.

Now I am stuck on mission 19 of Heavy Weapon. It isnt the nuke droppers that get as much as the satellites, tanks and dive bombers. I got to the boss with all my lives and figured I should have beat him. My first death was my stupid fault. The second was BS where a nuke dropped off the screen and it still killed me.

Well you're going to have a very long run of being bored with Xbox360 then because to be completely honest at least for me personally the next good Xbox Live game isn't coming out until June 26th. IF it comes out the 26th I wouldn't be suprised to see Two Worlds get pushed back again.

I think they'll strategically release it like they did with Halo 2. Depending on when Metal Gear Solid gets released I wouldn't be suprised if they try to upstage it by putting it out maybe a little less then a week before it just to steal it's thunder.

To be honest though I don't even think Halo3 is the big title this coming holiday season....Grand Theft Auto is due in October. That game always delivers a great story, great gameplay, and now hopefully great graphics. Then to top it off you've got exclusive chapters comes to the marketplace.

Picked up the Psyclone VGA cable which I read will support 1080p. Plugged it into the RGB (is thatt the same as VGA - it was the only port that the cord would fit into (obviously), but I didn't know it was called RGB, either.

Just having got the tv yesterday (it's a Sony KDL40XBR2 Bravia lcd), I am still largely unfamiliar with the ins and outs of setting up or owning a 1080p television.

I know PS3 has native hdmi support that enables 1080p, and yes, I know the forthcoming Elite 360 will supoprt HDMI, but I read an interview with Microsoft (from ign.com, I think) with them stating that 1080p is possibly with VGA. I see that MS has a first party VGA cable - does anyone have it and does it work as advertised?

Also, the article states (at least, I think it did) that the amjority of 1080p tv's will support 1080p through VGA. Is there a list somewhere that will tell me if my tv does or does not?

Can my issue be remedied with an adapter? Is there such a thing as VGA to HDMI adapter, or any alternative to get 1080p out of my 360? Yes, I have the XBOX LIVE update from the fall to enable 1080p, so I don't think that'll be an issue.

Oh, when I hooked up VGA, the audio portion of the cord produced NO SOUND whatsoever. I even tried optical, and still zip. Anyone had this problem, or know how to fix it?

I bought this tv primarily for high def gaming and movies. Yes, I watched my rented copy of Happy Feet on HD last night, but could only enjoy it in 720p. Don't get me wrong - 720p still looks awesome, but I can do that on my tv in the other room, which is fine. I bought a 1080p tv so I wouldn't have to watch in 720p or 1080i anymore. So far, that's not happening. Grrr...

Also, I saw that GRAW 2 supports 1080p, so the 1080p functionality obviously is available. At the moment, it's not available to me:(

When I finally got on after Live returned last night, I finally got the last achievement I needed in Contra. It was great to finally finish the game on 1 credit---just like the NES Contra, when I could beat the game as a kid without the 30 man trick!

My reward? My 360 is screwed, just as I feared. I had it freeze again trying out a few different games (Smackdown vs Raw 2007). One game took forever to load (NHL2K7 again). Strangely, I was able to play Crackdown just fine. Then, I put in Oblivion for my next test. It gave me a white screen saying "Insert an Xbox 360 game disc", or something to that effect. Crap. I cleaned the disc with a cloth, got the game to boot, but after playing for about 2-3 minutes, I got a "disc unreadable" error. Now, I must decide----return to Microsoft, or utilize my lifetime return policy that Costco so graciously (involuntarily) offers?

When I finally got on after Live returned last night, I finally got the last achievement I needed in Contra. It was great to finally finish the game on 1 credit---just like the NES Contra, when I could beat the game as a kid without the 30 man trick!

My reward? My 360 is screwed, just as I feared. I had it freeze again trying out a few different games (Smackdown vs Raw 2007). One game took forever to load (NHL2K7 again). Strangely, I was able to play Crackdown just fine. Then, I put in Oblivion for my next test. It gave me a white screen saying "Insert an Xbox 360 game disc", or something to that effect. Crap. I cleaned the disc with a cloth, got the game to boot, but after playing for about 2-3 minutes, I got a "disc unreadable" error. Now, I must decide----return to Microsoft, or utilize my lifetime return policy that Costco so graciously (involuntarily) offers?

Picked up the Psyclone VGA cable which I read will support 1080p. Plugged it into the RGB (is thatt the same as VGA - it was the only port that the cord would fit into (obviously), but I didn't know it was called RGB, either.

Just having got the tv yesterday (it's a Sony KDL40XBR2 Bravia lcd), I am still largely unfamiliar with the ins and outs of setting up or owning a 1080p television.

I know PS3 has native hdmi support that enables 1080p, and yes, I know the forthcoming Elite 360 will supoprt HDMI, but I read an interview with Microsoft (from ign.com, I think) with them stating that 1080p is possibly with VGA. I see that MS has a first party VGA cable - does anyone have it and does it work as advertised?

Also, the article states (at least, I think it did) that the amjority of 1080p tv's will support 1080p through VGA. Is there a list somewhere that will tell me if my tv does or does not?

Can my issue be remedied with an adapter? Is there such a thing as VGA to HDMI adapter, or any alternative to get 1080p out of my 360? Yes, I have the XBOX LIVE update from the fall to enable 1080p, so I don't think that'll be an issue.

Oh, when I hooked up VGA, the audio portion of the cord produced NO SOUND whatsoever. I even tried optical, and still zip. Anyone had this problem, or know how to fix it?

I bought this tv primarily for high def gaming and movies. Yes, I watched my rented copy of Happy Feet on HD last night, but could only enjoy it in 720p. Don't get me wrong - 720p still looks awesome, but I can do that on my tv in the other room, which is fine. I bought a 1080p tv so I wouldn't have to watch in 720p or 1080i anymore. So far, that's not happening. Grrr...

Also, I saw that GRAW 2 supports 1080p, so the 1080p functionality obviously is available. At the moment, it's not available to me:(

Honestly, you should be fine with 1080i. The tv will upconvert it.

you can have all of that stuff on a new system if you keep your old HD otherwise with a new one you'll have to be connected to xbox live if you want to play any of the arcade games etc. you've downloaded

Haven't heard of any fixes yet. It's a good month with Customer Service before they refund you the points to a "dummy" silver account that you'll have to create. That's what I had to go through.

I've had 1 hard drive and 4 Xbox360's. I've never had a problem with content. I believe theres a difference between a fresh out of the box 360 and a 360 that your friend owns but doesn't have his HD hooked up to. The internal memory probably processes that it's the wrong primary HD and won't read your content.

For me I got my launch system, played games for like 4 days straight knowing very well that every game would freeze 10-15 minutes in, traded in my system but just the system no HD. Then got my new 360 hooked up the new hd to that. When that 360 broke I bought an entirely new 360 and fixed/traded in the old 360 with the new HD. Then when that one broke I did another even swap of just the 360 itself leaving all the wires/hd at home, and I believe thats where I've left off. A 14 month old HD and about a 5 month old Xbox.

I am thinking that my 360 might be going south as well. It seems only with older games though. The graphics on Kameo are all jacked up. On PGR 3 there are times where there will missing walls in tunnels and walls in the middle of the track type things. COD 2 freezes up all the time. Then I have had issues with Oblivion for a while now with disc read errors. I could see after a few hours of playing like Chugga said but it happens in a matter of minutes sometimes.

If you send it into microsoft you aren't allowed to send in the hard drive anyways....they only will take the system. So regardless of how many systems end up dying on you, you'll always have your saved data. Unless of course the HD get corrupted...then I'd just cry and give up.

Actually you can retrieve the precious little achievements through my gamerprofile. I'd be more torn up with losing 80 hours worth of Oblivion time that I really wouldn't want to go back through.

Your the game master though you wouldn't understand how big saved data can be because you just beat stuff so easily. I on the other hand wouldn't want to have to go through the torture of beating Dead or Alive 12+ times again just to get all the characters.

I'm pretty sure game saves and achievements are linked with your live account. My friend downloaded his live account onto my xbox, and it took like an hour because of all his data.

If gamesaves were linked also then that would be awesome. But all I heard was your gamertag could retrieve your achievements and that was it. If I didn't have to spend hours beating DOA again then I'd love Xbox Live even that much more.

I don't necessarily think he means straight up saved data....if that were the case this new 120gb hd coming with the elite Xbox wouldn't be an issue, just toss out your old xbox, download all your saved data through your gamercard. I think achievements might give you back certain saves....take DOA for instance, if I have an achievement that says I have Spartan unlocked when it retrieves that achievement maybe when I put in DOA the Spartan would actually be unlocked. Or in MUA....get the Black Panther achievement and while its loading back in your achievements he gets unlocked in the game. I don't know it's wishful thinking. But regardless I don't think I've ever heard of a report of a HD ever crapping out on anyone before.

All of my DLC is still there after getting mine back. BUT, I also looked just for curiosity and they actually did repair my old one instead of giving me a new one (which is fine and what I expected). Mine has the same serial number on the back.

I don't know if that has anything to do with my DLC still working or not. I would think your issue, Dave, has something more to do with the fact that you were connected to LIVE at the time. Kind of a headscratcher.

Maybe try 1-800-4MY-XBOX? I've got those friggin' bastiges on speed dial if you need help ;)

Just purchased a 360 and was curious do I have to buy the white network adapter to get onto live or can I use the one I had for my regular xbox(the black one that says xbox on it) I have the wireless router and ethernet cables but what else do I need. Can't wait to start playing

From what I heard the xbox wireless adapter works with the 360 but I am not 100% sure.

Not sure about the connection speeds myself, I mean even if you have the older 802.11b wireless that is 11 mb speed. Your average internet connection is anywhere from 512kb to 6 mb. The wireless should have no problem with that.

I have my house wired, but the problem is I'll have 3-4 PCs hooked up at a time, plus my 360.

Thus, I hate when my friends come over and look at YouTube while I'm laying the smack down over Live. I'm on the road to banning YouTube from my house, with infractions punishable by death.

Not sure about the connection speeds myself, I mean even if you have the older 802.11b wireless that is 11 mb speed. Your average internet connection is anywhere from 512kb to 6 mb. The wireless should have no problem with that.

It depends a lot on the position of the wireless modem.

For instance, me and my friend both have our wireless routers set up on the upper levels, with our entertainment centers set up in our basements. Thus, I wired my house, and had no problems. He on the other hand, did not, and the wireless connection was HORRIBLE.

If you have 802.11g like I do the speed is 54mbps even when I have a bad connection it is still 36mbps. No issue at all. Although I still have my router in my room so I can connect to live without the adapter. More because I dont want to buy the adapter.

One thing to try is if you can take your dsl or cable and connect it straight to the xbox see if it works that way. If it doesnt then it probably isnt an issue that you can solve.

Holy crap - small world, dude. I called MS yesterday about the very same issue. There was no solution to my problem...did you find an alternative? I returned the VGA cable and am sticking with component on 720p.

Which Sony model do you have? We just got the KDL40XBR2 LCD on Tuesday. I could NOT get 1080p via VGA, so I am going with the above configuration.

I was super, super, super bummed about the letdown with 360/HD-DVD non 1080p-ness last night, so my wife literally pulled a fast one on me.

Occassionally we'll go on late night Wally-World runs - boredom, groceries, a movie here and there, insomnia, etcetera.

She'd probably laugh if she knew I told you guys this, but I was watching our new tv and she had gone online to look up info about VGA/1080p for 360 after I got ticked off. She comes in the bedroom and says, "come on, let's go to Wally World to get our minds off XBOX for awhile. Besides, we need bread and some veggies for dinner tomorrow."

I was all for it and we drove to our nearest WM. About a minute before we got to the store, my wife moaned softly and said she felt like Taco Bell (our dinner the night before) was "catching up with" her. She asked me to pull up to the door of WM and let her out so she could go to the bathroom, and then I went and parked the car after letting her off.

I collect action figures, so she told me as she jumped out (she's 5 foot nothin') that she'd meet me on the toy aisle when she was done.

After parking the truck and getting into the store, less than 2 minutes later I get a call on my cell. It's the wife, telling me that she still didn't feel good and went outside to get some air. I told her I'd be right there and we'd go home.

Mind you, her voice sounded like she'd been stabbed with a prison shank, so I got a little worried as I briskly left WM. I got out to the vehicle and she was standing on the passenger side (I had the keys) waiting for me to get out there. She said, "the air's helping a little, but let's forget about the groceries and go home. I'll get them tomorrow."

I said, "that's fine, you ok?" She said, "Yeah, stomach's just not feeling good right now."

So I open her door and close her in the car and walk back around to the driver's side to almost kick over a 60GB PS3 w/ Casino Royale BR & COD3 sitting on top of it!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::D:D:D:D:D:):):):):):cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:


After I flipped out and collected myself, she told me she felt bad that I was disappointed with the XBOX 1080p fiasco, and that she knew I had wanted a PS3 anyway. "Plus, whoever wins the new DVD format biz won't matter, because now you have both."

Amazingly enough, I ordered a pair of HDMI cables on Monday for HD satellite and AppleTV (decided to wait for the second version), so I used one to hook up PS3 to the new teeve.

Far and away the EASIEST setup of an electronic device I have ever witnessed. I plugged in HDMI cord, plugged in the power, turned it on, pushed 'YES' a couple of times, and was watching James Bond in the highest of high def in les than five minutes! HDMI kicks ass!

I'm going to see if I can program the movie controls for PS3 in the sony remote that came with our new tv, and if not, I'll have to pick up the PS3 BR remote. Too bad my Logitech Harmony 890 remote can't do Bluetooth:(

My one complaint thus far, the controller. I feel like that thing's going to break if I push a button too hard. That's great that it's light, but it will absolutely suck when the built in rechargeable battery eventually dies and I have to buy a whole new controller:mad: I think Sony settled with the manufacturer for rumble capability, so I'll wait for those to come out. Hopefully soon.

Anyway, my wife blew me away with her little "not feeling good" ruse. I called her Meryl Streep for fooling me like that, but told the next time she says she doesn't feel good, I'm not going to believe her and dismiss it as crying wolf;)


Which brings me to my question: Does COD3 look better on 360 or PS3? My wife picked up COD3 because she knew I liked those kind of games, but she forgot that she gave it to me for Christmas on 360. Our other tv is 720p, and I believe the PS3 version will only support up to 720p. Am I better off visually with the 360 or PS3 version? I don't play COD online, so either one won't bother me. I just don't think I want the same game on two systems.

Also, for those who have both systems, what other games that are out right now are any good? I think I'm going to pass on RFOM for now, probably rent it. Sports, driving, etcetera. Tell me what's worthy. Thanks for making it through the long read! :)
