I have a 360 and I'm on live. I mostly play CoD2 and BF2:MC. I have GRAW but I dont play it all that much. I just downlaoded the Halo 3 trailer off of the marketplace. I cant wait till that game hits.

Yeah, FN is very addicting. I actually did my Under Armour achievement before leaving for work this morning. There I was sitting in my dress clothes with a tie on knocking out some guy, fun stuff. I never play before work either. I've got my a.m. routine pretty set and I hate deviating from it. That's pretty funny. I don't remember Forza that much. I know I picked it up at launch for the original XBox because it was a title I was really looking forward to, but I also remember trading it in pretty quickly. There was something I didn't like about it but I don't even remember it was.

IMO Awful.
I hate the controls on this game. Way too hard to jump into the game without crashing in nearly every corner. The graphics are not as impressive as I would have thought. The AI opponent racers are terrible. I crashed three times in one race and was still in 18th/20th. I know it takes some getting used to, but I was put off right away playing the demo.

You missed a good time - we played with the "draw until you can play" setting - took forever for each hand. One of us would get to 2 cards remaining then have to draw 10 or more - hey, that's how I always played growing up.:)

Geo Wars for only 400 points is a great deal! It takes a few days to get good at it, but once you get the hang of it, it's hard to stop playing.

Uno is a must-purchase IMO. Good fun, easy achievements, and a cool colorful interface - you won't regret it. The g/f and I actually went out and bought an UNO deck and we all played on Mother's Day - there was about 8 of us playing.

I use the VGA cable. The 360 doesn't have an HDMI cable. The component cable can also be used for HD.

Moto GP isn't that bad, I actually like it... when you use rear and front brakes going into the turns.. it's a lot easier to control... still can't get over the lost planet demo... it's like a cross between mech and starship troopers... awesome game.

Yeah, I take back a little about what I said initially about that Moto GP demo. You definitely have to learn how to master the braking to get in and out of the corners correctly, but still the AI racers are awful. I hope that is tweakable on the full version, even then I think I'll stay away from this one.
Lost Planet does look absolutely gorgeous but it's just not my thing. I'm staying away from the shooters until Halo 3 comes out.

I just bought a new tv to keep up with the new HD era and since it's a little bit ahead of the curve when it comes to receivers I was trying to figure out if there was a way to run surround sound directly through your tv instead of through the receiver. I can't seem to find a receiver with both 1080p and hdmi support and that makes the receiver kinda pointless when it comes to the new dvd players/ps3.

I have a question about Fight Night. I just started the career mode yesterday. When I'm training for my next fight and choose the combo dummy I can't get it to punch low. I don't have any problems going low on the body bag though.

Since the dummy is the one that builds your speed up and I can't do it I've had to lift the weights everytime. Good news is my last 4 fights have been first round KO's. :D

You can buy receivers with not just audio selection, but video component selection as well. Friend of mine has one and he has his 360 and DVD player running through his receiver, both with component hook ups.


As for the fight night question. I use the left trigger to make my guy punch low. I think I set my conroller to use "Configaration 4" which allows you to punch with the colored buttons. I think I gave up illegal hits though by setting it this way. You will want to learn how to punch low. I find as you move through the game. Jabs to the head and body can really wear your opponent down. On a number of guys I would counter with a jab to the face then hooks to each side of the body. This combo really wears them down fast. Mix it in with a few hooks to the head and you can pretty much beat anyone. There are a few though where you'll really have to adjust your game.

I played cory online in fight night and it was really fun. I whooped him of course but it was fun for both sides. The only thing I hate about online is how every other match I'm on the right hand side of the screen. When you play a game for hours on end all on the left hand side you are 100% used to what you're doing. Playing on the right and having to mirror what you used to do gets me confused sometimes...throw the wrong jab, mess up and get the wrong side on the hook, lean forward instead of leaning back.

Yeah, it's FIFA all the time now until I win the World Cup. I've lost in the semis twice now. I also traded in GRAW a while back too, so I don't have that anymore. I am thinking about trading a couple more games in for Fight Night now too though. I know Gamestop is giving $10 extra in credit when you trade in 2 360 games so Burnout Revenge, Top Spin2, and PGR3 are possibilities for me to say good-bye to. I just haven't picked those up in a while.

and it was fine....

but i saved up some money and got an OPEN display model of a 30inch sanyo wide HD tv from walmart for $425... its not an LCD.. its the fat heavy ray tubes... but for 425... it was a steal... especially since i only use it for gaming.

and.. now the difference is grand.

I mean.. i thought 360 looked good on a regular tv.. but when u put it thru HD... man.. ghost recon advanced warfighter.. LOOKS GREAT!.

if u cant afford it.. then.. 360 without hd is fine.
but if u can... go for it.. it'll be worth it.

and the added view on the left of the right screen really helps in a 3rd person shooter. it's almost a 180 degree view.

I've been playing for about three hours now and it is

FUN

I'm giddy while playing it. The pure speed and adrenaline combined with the necessary reaction times makes for a very unique and very thrilling experience. I've played online twice now- the first time was with a guy who wasn't very good, the second time I was very evenly matched. Both times it absolutely 100% lag free and it was FAST. There were some shots in there that I couldn't believe I returned. It's so much more fun when the other person has a mic too so you can hear each other going "OH ****!!!" when diving for a ball about six feet away from you. Or when in a high volley count goading the other person, going "mmmmess up!".

Again, so much fun. I HIGHLY recommend it, especially at $40 ($30 if you've got a Fry's nearby)

It's GREAT! It takes a couple games to get used to the control. For some reason I didn't get the concept that as a table tennis player, you'd have to move your body. But there is a balance between moving the character, and the spin and angle of your shot.

Plus I love spectator mode. That's freakin' sweet.

Plenty of stuff to unlock, lots of achievements. Rockstar has another hit on their hands.

Well, I finally picked up Fight Night last night. Traded in Burnout and Top Spin 2 @ Gamestop, plus got the extra $10 credit for trading in 2 360 games. I was only able to play for about an hour and I got my arse handed to me so I'm going to need to work on it tonight - luckily I've got the house to myself tonight too.

Bought a premium system, Oblivion collectors edition (actually bought that a month ago cause i found it for only 54.99 lol), and just now picked up a play and charge kit, even tho I don't even know *** it does I just remember seeing it recommended on here.

Gonna download a bunch of demos soon I think, otherwise I'm really just looking forward to Prey, NCAA 07, Madden 07, and then the motherload when it hits at the end of the year and early next year (GoW, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and so on).

Microsoft has converted me (didn't buy an Xbox til they were 150).

Well, I finally picked up Fight Night last night. Traded in Burnout and Top Spin 2 @ Gamestop, plus got the extra $10 credit for trading in 2 360 games. I was only able to play for about an hour and I got my arse handed to me so I'm going to need to work on it tonight - luckily I've got the house to myself tonight too.

Oh, for sure, that's cool. I'm still getting the hang of it but I'll certainly look for you playing FN. I had no plans to play this game online just from what I've read about all of the button-mashers and haymaker-throwing nimrods out there on Live.
Oh, and on a side note, how long until I can start getting decent fight contracts in career mode? I think I went 6-0 as an amateur until I won the belt there, now I'm a professional at 3-0 3KO but I'm still fighting in the stupid Windy City Gym at little 6 round fights and I'm destroying my opponents. How much longer until I face some better competition and see some new venues?

If you have a chance to fight a well know boxing, do it, it really boosts your rating and progresses you a bit quicker.

I finally picked up a 360 premium last night w/ DOA 4 :) :cool:
10% off from my work s oit help shave off $45 and it came to a little over $450 so I pretty much just saved tax.
Tried to directly hook it up to my cable modem ( I had to disconnect it from the PC and move it over a bit so it could reach) it recognized it but the IP test failed so I dunno I'll have to get settings I guess. I'd like to get a wireless router I just don't want to pay $150 for one right now on top of this. The system fan fan is kinda loud (is that normal?) I have it standing up though so I'll lay it down to see if that works. I have seen some great stuff coming out from E3 so I can't wait.

That's odd. You shouldn't need to adjust your settings at all.

This would have done the same thing as reset most likely, but try hooking the modem to your 360, then unplugging the modem from the outlet and plugging it back in. I have to power cycle like that everytime I switch from my PC to my 360 because I haven't bought a router.

Yup I read ALL about that and the mishaps in doing so. :) It stays put and I don't budge it at all with a game in there and always take it out after I'm done just to make sure it does'nt happen by mistake. :)

No problem! Glad you were able to "go live"!

It's not too bad for me. I have a network cable going from my modem to my computer, and one that's always plugged into my 360 so all I have to do is unplug one from my modem, plug in the other, and power cycle. I usually boot up the system while I'm doing it so I don't have to wait too long. Even though it's no more than 30 seconds, it seems like an eternity!

FIFA:WC is a suggestion from me. I love this game. I don't know much about soccer but it's pretty easy to pick up and learn this game. I'm already excited about the actual World Cup almost exclusively due to playing this game. Game length is adjustable but 10 minute halves is about right for a good experience. You can play the qualifiers or you can just start right at the World Cup tournament itself which would only be about 5 or 6 game little 'seasons'. 4 of the 5 achievements are very easy to get as well. I like it and I haven't played an EA FIFA game in a few years.

Do yourself a favor and use Jesper the entire night. The guy is unbeatable against noobs.

I just finally beat the game on pro with Jesper....everyone else on the pro difficulty and I'm lucky to get out of the first tourney without hitting a brick wall.

Damn I'm highly addicted to this table tennis game, only problem is the AI on the higher difficulty levels kinda gets on my nerves. Once you start playing certain people on the harder difficulty levels it's like they get injected with steroids while you get struck blind, deaf, and ******ed all in 1 swing.

That and the players you have unlocked are generally 10 times weaker then the players you are trying to unlock. Jesper is nice and all but the guys you face at the end of the tournaments can spin the ball 5 feet out of your reach.

Kameo is only 8-10 hours long so it's nothing that you have to worry about getting hooked into. Took me a week or so to beat it but I was playing other games inbetween. I'd give Kameo a go...the scope of the game is just flat out amazing when you get confronted with a battlefield of literally thousands of people all on the screen at the same time.

I play Dead or Alive alot but you've gotta actually like fighting games to find this game worth it. Alot of people I talk to that bought it either love it or hate it. If you have experience with fighting games then the final boss with only be a slight headache not a I-hate-this-game-it's-so-cheap-I'm-taking-it-back type headache. Condemned is pretty fun, FIFA (the new one), Burnout, Top Spin, Table Tennis....all solid choices.

If you don't want to be glued to the screen Table Tennis isn't a bad idea....it's addicting but only addicting in intervals. It's not oblivion where you can play for 12 freakin hours and not even realize it...with table tennis you'll want to step away every once and a while.

I must have completely missed the memo that I needed to sleep in Oblivion to level up - I progressed halfway into level 3 before I officially leveled up. Not to mention I got to the Cloud Temple, and struggled to do that (fighting inside Kvatch was hard as hell, as I was out of arrows as an archer).

Oh well, It's so addicting. I get lost just looking at the foliage when I'm riding around the empire.

Fully train? yeah, I haven't done that, either. Should I visit...what trainer, as an archer, to make sure I do training.

The tutorial was kind of vague. I flipped through the manual and figured training was similar to how it was in Everquest - you can do it as a substitute but it gets mad expensive.

Overall, my first go through in oblivion is going to be quick to finish the main quest - then I may replay it and take a long *** time looking at all the bells and whistles.

It's a ton of fun though, although Combat seems semi ******ed.

Blocking isn't very effecient until your block skill is up above 50. Until then you are only blocking a tiny portion of the damage. Thats usually why I train blocking asap....as for combat with bows, bows are meant to be stealth weapons. When you get good with stealth you can go through an entire dungeon picking off people before they even know you are in the room. But just like blocking it all comes with time.

Well the first time through a level I generally do it that way. I don't care if the janiter has family and kids if he gets in my way his body is going into a dumpster. But last night I was trying to get silent assassin ratings on a few of the levels and being tactical turns out to not be that easy.

It's not easy being a hitman and not bringing any weapons with you.

I like Oblivion 10 times more then Hitman but since I'm kinda burnt out on Oblivion after playing it for so long Hitman is actually a welcomed break. Both are great games but Oblivion is in a league of it's own. If you like RPG's what-so-ever I think it's a must buy. I'm not trying to knock Hitman because I'd give it an 8.5-8.7 range overall but I'd give Oblivion 9.9.

By the end of the game I was getting bored as hell with the repetitive pick up spear, throw spear, pick up spear again thing. Hey guys, I need some help. I am house-sitting for my folks for a week, and they just bought a 42" widescreen plasma HD tv. They got digital cable, and the HD channels are impressive, so I know it is capable of HD. But the thing is, when I plug the xbox in and fiddle with the settings, I can't get it to go above the standard tv setting, 480p. When I try to go 720 or 1080, I get a black screen and a "no sync signal", and then it reverts back to 480 in 10 seconds. Do I need an S cable or something? How the hell can I utilize the HD? Strange.

Hey guys, I need some help. I am house-sitting for my folks for a week, and they just bought a 42" widescreen plasma HD tv. They got digital cable, and the HD channels are impressive, so I know it is capable of HD. But the thing is, when I plug the xbox in and fiddle with the settings, I can't get it to go above the standard tv setting, 480p. When I try to go 720 or 1080, I get a black screen and a "no sync signal", and then it reverts back to 480 in 10 seconds. Do I need an S cable or something? How the hell can I utilize the HD? Strange.

You need to use at least the component cable pack and there is a switch on the actual cable bundle to go to HD resolutions. Composite and S-Video cables cannot carry an HD signal.

You should be able to play in 16:9 if it's a widescreen TV.

Yeah, just set the widescreen settings, and switched it to that. Looks fantastic. Older xbox games though, not so much.

to me FPS are great if they're fast paced...too many of them lately though have been slower, like perfect dark zero was just awful and horribly slow, and Far Cry is fun but it's too slow for my taste as well.

Im with you on the objective part. Respawns are ok for a little while but a game with a goal in mind is much better to me. Hence my love for Socom2. Hopefully Gears of War has something like that in their online play.

I got Ghost Recon as a gift a couple months ago...then I went into my 115-hour Oblivion journey. Now, even though I'm rocking Table Tennis, I think I'm ready to pop GRAW in and see if I like it.

I picked up MotoGp today! The only issue I have with the game is the framerate drops quite a bit in different corners on every track. Other than that I love this game. It sure is pretty. I am very pleased with MotoGP so far. I was worried since I read people just bashing it based on the graphics on other boards. I haven't noticed the framerate issues or graphic complaints so many people have had yet. To me, the shadows look fine- that was a major complaint of some poeple. Looks to me to be a very pretty game. The tracks and lighting effects are really nice, and the rain effects are pretty well done too. Granted, I have only raced on about 7 tracks.

But more importantly, the gameplay is great. Takes some time to get used to the controls, but once you do, it's very intuitive. I set them up like PGR and Forza- accelerate and rear brake with the triggers, front brake with the A button, and shift gears with B and X. Found it helps immensly. Fun playing in first person too.

I am also really impressed with the bike and rider customization. There's a LOT you can do, only 8 layers though, not nearly as much as Forza, but the clip art stuff is cool. Spend over an hour on a bike last night just dinking around.

Hehe, lol. I played the demo and for the first ten to twenty minutes or so, everytime I turned a corner I'd go rolling and diving off the bike. The best part about the game is doing a "pop wheelie" right before a turn and then just slamming down around the curve and gaining a few positions.

Well, it's a bigger game world than what we generally see in the stealth genre, I suppose. The freedom to literally go around killing and doing as you please in a GTA "sandbox" type world, set in the medieval era, is rather appealing.

Here's some quick information from Gamespot.com on the game:

A quick glance at Assassin's Creed quickly brings to mind a number of other recent outstanding games. It boasts very fluid animation and an incredibly maneuverable main character, much like in Prince of Persia. It's got a medieval setting and emergent, open-ended gameplay similar to Oblivion. It has huge, lifelike cityscapes not unlike the recent Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, albeit a thousand years in the past. And it's reminiscent of the Thief series, if only because of its inconspicuous, independent, and resourceful main character and the anti-medieval-establishment premise. Finally, the open-ended "sandbox" world of the game is easy to compare to Grand Theft Auto. However, this is clearly no cookie-cutter clone of a game. Its distinctive, beautifully crafted visual style and surprising twists give it an identity all its own.

I tried about ten of them before actually winning one to get the achievement. They do seem pretty rough - From what I've read there's one where you are Australia and up 3-0 at halftime but you need to win 7-0 and that is one that is really giving people fits. I think I'll hold off attempting these until I can actually win the WC first.

Wow, maybe I'm alone but after seeing the engines that Madden/NBA/Tiger Woods are running on for 360, I think those NHL screens are terribly lackluster. Look like high rez PS2 shots. Hopefully those are placeholder models, as that can't be even slightly taxing the system.

Oh man don't even get me started on that all perfects achievement. It took me like a month to pull off....talk about wanting to pull your hair out. There were some races where me and my friend would literally go back and forth for hours trying to complete just ONE freakin challenge and then generally after those HOURS of playing by the grace of God we'd have a run that was beyond perfect and finally finish it up.

Some of the achievements were really hard like the 30 takedowns one....but then you realize theres an easy way around it....simply never hit boost until you are on the verge of hitting something. But the burning laps were the killers....Burning lap on that course that has the cliff you need to drive over and the shortcuts are those huge jumps.

From everything I've heard and read...it was really the only big deal on the PS3 end of things. Most other sites and magazines consider this past year to be Sony's weakest E3 showing ever, and even PlayStation Magazine has been ragging on Sony and the PS3 since E3.

The system will still sell incredibly, but Sony has certainly turned away a lot of former fans.
