There is still a lot of issue with the whole trying to get a ranked match together. For some reason it doesnt always show you that game. I am pretty sure that it pretty much only shows you games closest to you first.

That or it doesn't show anything with a "poor or worse" connection... I know Keith and I got shutout from different games on occassion.

But there's enough different maps now that you'd think we could find the right combinations of game type, map and round in order to get everyone together. :)

Perhaps start with a shorter number of rounds to make sure and then go to an 18 or 19 rounder.

It's so subjective to determine how good someone really is. I've seen people host and be the top dog every round......only to be at the bottom when they aren't the host. That, along with the games incredible inconsistencies, and it's hard to tell how skilled someone is.

I think you can pretty much tell who is pretty good and who are decent. I mean sure you will get more kills when you host, but it you can tell when they arent hosting how well they are. Than kind of combine them.

Well this isnt that hard of a topic to answer. In all honesty I may have revolutionized the game of Gears of War. With my perfect placement of grenades, pin point accurately of torque. And my honor and pride I play with; never calling bull**** or demending a review of kill. Or even going as far as calling a fellow man a cheating bastard. I like to think of myself as the Johnny Unitas of the Gears world. A late round pick no one thought would amount to much. Now anyone would love to have me "saddle up" with their team, and they feel extremely lucky. The ranked players ought to thank their lucky stars I dont journey into their realm. I just may be the gold standard of greatness for Gears. And I am just being modest.



Seriously though it's hard to say who's the best out of us. Specially with the host advantage and the disadvantage of having a certain player(s) on youre team maybe "holding you down" But I am not a rude person so I wont name any names.. I'll just say "some guy" may just not be as good as "me....or you". :p And we all just play for fun, to crack jokes and shht. We don't keep stats or anything. Just play to have a good time without the annoying hassle of mouthy 16yr olds. Isnt that why we dont have GoSkins play with us? :p

got my ncaa at midnight. already have got almost 300 achievement points. the animations are super smooth, but the tv presentation style seems a bit jerky, but i've heard that can happen with some hi-def tvs ( although i don't think that's the case, just what i've read). best new feature is making your own highlights. you get five spots for every game to save yr favorite plays from the game, and ten pictures from throughout the game.

just to help out my fellow boardies with some info, right now gamestop/eb are doing a trade in 3 360 games, get an extra $20 credit. also, ncaa is one of the current games that you get an extra 20% trade in credit towards that game ( the other two are madden and halo 3). i traded in 3 360 games and had my $5 preorder down, and after my credit, i only had to pay 58 cent! make sure they give you all the credits if you wanna take advantage. definitely the way to go. hoping i can pick up 2k8 before the week is out.

By "Pyrrho mode", avsfan, Cory means "finally moved on from Gears of War".

My biggest beef back then was even when I turned down the invites, it was always bombs away, and more came. Of course, unlike my fellow David (POR2GEE), if I want to play other games I've bought/rented, I get to....he has zero willpower to turn you guys down. :D

I hope that once Team Fortress, Halo 3, and the like come out, I'll be invited back to the "party" again, even though I had the audacity to stop playing the "best" shooter ever. :p

Played Gears of War for the first time on Live last night with about 8 of my friends all at different houses. Had a BLAST! The only thing I would change is where weapons are located in the maps. Almost every map had a cool weapon somewhere but it's always in a central location in the middle of the map allowing either team to grab it in a rush. And it's always there. I'd like to see random weapon placement for each round.

One word of warning, sometimes a person or two can't get into the ranked room.

What we'll try to do is get the most centrally located person (or if someone has a really kick ass connection) to do the hosting. We'll start with a smaller game on a crappy map that no one else is playing to make sure everyone can be included. I REALLY appologize now if anyone can't get into the room, but it's a sad reality of ranked Gears. :(

Once we have everything figured out, we'll run eith a 17, 18 or 19 round match on a map that's not being used by other players to make it easier to find the game.

So I turn it back off put in my network cable and hard drive and turn it back on bam 3 red lights. I dont think the problem has anything to do with the network cable or hard drive so it couldnt have been those. I am pretty sure there is something wrong in the graphics card.

Also I should be getting my coffin back tomorrow. For those that have done it how do you ship it back? Do you have to go to UPS to ship it back or can you take it to the post office?

it's a prepaid UPS box, so you have to go through UPS. There should be a UPS store somewhere near you that's open until like 7 pm or so. Just take it in and I guarantee they will know what to do with it. They have seen the coffins before. I went in with mine and the girl already had the form halfway filled out by the time I got to the counter.

Mine did the same thing... take off everything, turn it on, it works fine. Connect it all back up and BANG, 3 red lights. :(

Scott, I'll admit I've been one in the past to pass on NCAA since it's released only a month before Madde, but this is the year that I buy both. To me, the anonymity of the new recruits brings something to the table for NCAA. The idea of getting a prospect to sign and then watching him blossom into an all-american talent under your watch is very rewarding.

Not to mention that the game just looks awesome and runs very smoothly. The new gang tackling is pretty nice too.

If you want something crappy, I'd have to say I'm not fond of paying $60 for it then turning around and paying another $60 for Madden a month later ;)

I'm in the same boat as you. Last year was the 1st year I picked it up on the release date.

I played a lot last night, and I'm very happy thus far. I started off with Campus Legend, so I haven't done much with the general gameplay yet - but so far, I don't have much to complain about.

My favorite thing is EASILY "Super Sim", which allows you to sim by play, until your on the field, or indefinitely while in a game during Campus Legend mode.

Uhhhh, it doesn't say anywhere that it WON'T happen, just that they're having problems with it. And the problems are pretty real. It's not like Gears where your buddy's character is going to be maybe a block away at the farthest.

If they can't make it work right out of the gate, no huge deal really. I'm not planning on dropping 60 bucks on this or any other game just to say "Man, I'm screw every other part of the game, I just want to go through the campaign with 3 friends over the internet". Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see online co-op....but it's not anything I'll be hurtin over if it doesn't make the cut.

I'm far from a halomaniac. In fact I just played it for the first time recently. It gave me something to tide me over till Ncaa came out. I really don't even like fps. Goldeneye back in the day, Resistance, and the 2 Halo games are the only ones I've even finished.

It's amazing nowadays how "maybe" and "possibly" are interpreted to mean 100% true. Regardless, though, I surely hope this feature is going to make it in, because I prefer single-player/campaign modes over multiplayer. Don't get me wrong, the versus multiplayer is great, but the campaign is where it is at in Halo.

i don't know how many of you are going for all achivements but for those with out "you can't touch me" win 10 ranked matches without losing a round just play 1 round matches until you win 10. it doesn't matter if you loose a match between getting to 10 because it is rounds not matches you have to win.

for those who don't know but you can check certain types of kills on the leader boards you just have to add up the three game types (annex only counts for non weapon achievments i.e. revives, and the map game type achivements)
just go to versus, leaderboards, look up yourself under all-time and just add them together.

for things like tourqe bow and boomshot pistol longshot you have to tally them by hand or just play until they unlock.
