Just got done playing the Bioshock demo, and I love it. It looks great, plays great and has the best atmosphere of any game I've played since Condemned.

Diablo is a great series, and I didn't mean for my comment to sound negative! I guess I'm just tired of hearing the comparisons of Two Worlds & Oblivion, when it doesn't even seem to be fair. Oblivion was great and all, but anything but fresh and/or original. There are numerous games before it that are open-ended (in the same series, even), but since many gamers just came into the style of game and/or gaming itself, it is being treated as an original concept. The PC has had open-ended/paper & pencil RPGs for ages.

Got my 360 two months ago. So far I have Gears of War, Dead Rising, LE Lost Planet (friend bought it for me), LE Double Agent, and Saint's Row. Haven't gone online yet until I have Halo 3. Game I've beaten so far was GOW. I'm still playing it though. Currently playing Saint's Row.

For anyone comparing Two Worlds and any other RPG obviously hasn't looked at the guide. Yes you go on quests, yes you fight with mid-evil style weapons/magic against monsters beasts and the undead etc. Yet in my mind what sets it apart from everything else, is the Alchemy factor. From what I gather when reading my guide is that you have to make your own bombs and traps. I'm sure you can buy them but name another game that allows you to make your own boobie (snickers) traps. Also you're giving the ability to cook up ingredients to permanently and temporarily boost willpower, strength, magic spells, mana, dexterity, vitality and hit points as well as health potions and mana rebuilders. That right there is enough for it to stand out among previous games. I have a feeling it is going to take some practice to master the poitions and other things that you can make in the game. I also think you will hear stories of potions traps and bombs back firing of the user as the forumals seeming to be complex and taking some getting use to.

Im happy with the gameplay of madden. you feel like you actually get a chance at a kick return. I mean, you still get pummelled, but the coverage team isnt all over you like Chugga at a Celine Dion concert.

Animations are great and nice to look at. Like I was telling Chugga last nite, Im not sure, but this one just seems more colorful. I dont know how else to explain it. Kinda like paint colors, M07 was more of a Matte finish, while M08, the colors just kick off your screen right into your face.

speed is speed is speed. If you have a speedster on your team, and he catches the ball, good luck catching him.

the presentation however, is lazy and lame. It seems like the load page just had Alexander taken off and Young super imposed on. the halftime show has so spirit. you get to choose to see the highlights of any scoring play from the previous half. I was hoping still, for more of a ESPN NFL2K5 halftime show.

I do however, like the trophy system. showing what you have accomplished.

I think Chugga and I agreed, there is nothing mind blowing away with this years game. But its definitely a step up in gameplay. Enough that I dont regret going out last nite to pick it up, instead of waiting for a rental.

BTW, my store gave out 'gif****s' supplied by EA, I guess. I got AXE deodorant stick, Axe shower gel, a peice of sour candy, and a MONSTER energy drink. Then they were doing NFL trivia questions, and I got one right, for a $5 GC. So, I used that to pre order Bioshock.

Thanks for the mini-review, Cory. I was taking the usual "same game" approach to Madden, but I keep hearing it's not just the same game this year, from reviews, and people playing (and not just pro-EAers, either). Maybe Lackluster will have it in tonight, and I can use one of my online rental envelopes to get it for $4.99. Since it's a "major release", perhaps they'll have it in before Friday to rent for once.

A pretty well-said summary of Katamari Damacy, Mike! Before I ever played the original PS2 one, I thought "this looks dumb as Hell". Little did I know I'd be hooked on picking up junk by rolling a ball around cities.


Well, it looks like putting the demo for BioShock out is working, people seem to be loving it, eh? After leaving my system on for a bit last night to download it, I never went back in the room to play it. That'll have to happen tonight when I get home from work. Here's to enjoying it.....

well...I went and bought madden today...did a fantasy draft....seems running the ball is really difficult. willing to play online....my gamertag is same as my user id here.

Fun thing though...I have NCAA 08 and did the campus legend mode with a CB. Went through all 4 seasons including winning the Heisman as a CB my Senior year (had 18 INTs, and 10 DEFTD...3rd on team in TKLS and 1st in TFL). So I import myself into superstar on Madden...go through the combine...got drafted by STL in the 1st rd. I looked at my rating and I came in as a 96 overall :eek:) Can't wait to play it.

Weird I was unsubscribed from this thread. But anyways after playing a bit of madden last night and today I can feel safe in saying that Lee Evans got robbed. After the way he's played over the course of the last 2 years he's cemented himself into a certain tier of WR's and every single other wide receiver in that entire tier has at least 1 sort of WR weapon. Whether it be possession, hands, route running, or catch. Lee Evans has none of the above. I think they rated the rest of the team extremely fairly and I think overall they even rated Lee Evans really well...but how the hell does a WR rated 90 overall not get anything but speed. In comparison Colston is rated a 89 overall and has 3 different WR weapons. I don't get it.

So far I've had a hell of a time playing the game....but that just irks me to play game after game where every fringe wr in the NFL has some sort of weapon but Lee Evans nothing.

Probably because Colston is more popular than Evans? With the Saints doing so well, Colston having a stellar rookie year. Popularity factors alot into Madden ratings.

No you cant play all xbox games there is a list somewhere on the xbox site that shows which games are which are compatible.

Also some other games are Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Rainbow Six Vegas, Forza Motorsports 2 (if you like racing), Call of Duty 2 is a good old one, Dead Rising and Oblivion would round out my top 6.

You can't play *all* Xbox games. You can play most, like 95% of the most popular games and then some just random stuff tossed out there. If theres an awesome game for the Xbox that you've been wanting to play chances are it's backwards compatible....if you wanna play some obscure cult hit that only you and 2 of your friends actually liked....good luck.

with the bots....I don't even bother with trying to switch pieces early....just reveal as many of them as you can in the begining....then move them accordingly. I was hacking all of them....loved the turret in toilet, that one tore up two baddies

yes......shock them so they drop...walk up...hit "X".. and then you will need to complete a puzzle (sorta) to complete the hack....they will then become your allies and fight for you

It comes with a Big Daddy figure (No interest on that), a making of DVD, and a soundtrack CD of remixed 50s music. I preordered it for the last 2 things, and then special casing (it may be steel book, it is in other countries but they haven't mentioned it for here).

For 10 bucks more, its a complete steal. It's nice to see it's garnering interest now, I've been following it for 4 ****ing years and I'm gonna hold off on playing the demo as well, I want it to be a perfect fresh experience. I've avoided most of the spoilers, as well. This is gonna rock.

Apparently, the top 20 gamestops for selling pre-orders will win a Big Daddy bust, which was comissioned especially by 2K Games. The "estimated value" of them was $250 bucks. I'm betting they catch well more then that on ebay. The picture included was black and white and crappy, but I want one!

Really, I think it will fly off the shelves, because there's gonna be a hyped up midnight release. I remember with the Halo 2 release, the line was really deep.

That, and it doesn't cost extra to reserve it. In fact, I don't think you pay taxes on reservations.

About the free game...it is only included with the Premium that DOES NOT have an HDMI port.

The system I purchased today that does include the HDMI port does not have a pack in game. Very disappointing....but somewhat expected. They are using the free game to move the older 360s out of stock.

I have Marvel for the PS3...and I am not much of a racing game fan. That being said, I could at least use the games as trade bait, but with the reviews Madden got on the PS3, I would rather have a 360 now to play it on! I'm either going to keep the 360 Premium I got today w/ the HDMI port or return it tomorrow and pick up an Elite.

The new design, codenamed 'Falcon,' is expected to benefit from both lower production costs for Microsoft and greater resiliency against heating problems. The Xbox 360 Elite wasn't launched with the new chips, but when it was discovered that new Xbox 360 Premium consoles were appearing at retail with HDMI built in, some hoped the change also heralded the arrival of new CPUs.

It's now confirmed that such is not the case. The new Xbox 360 Premiums have already been stripped, and the dissectors have confirmed that the console is still powered by the original 90-nm CPU. They did discover, however, that the new Premium model does include the retrofitted heat-pipe for cooling the GPU and a newer, quieter, BenQ DVD drive.

Microsoft has avoided commenting on when the new 65-nm CPUs will see retail reality. It's rather likely that the alteration will not be announced in a major way, but will instead soft launch much like the sudden addition of HDMI to Premium units. Stay tuned.

when you reload a weapon, there is a grey spot to hit, and its a quicker reload. if you click your button outside of the reload spot, it will jam. or you can just let it reload all on its own, which is slower. but inside the grey area, is a white spot, and if you can hit that little white spot just perfect, it will give you an "active reload" which on the shotgun makes it a little more powerful, hence the one hitter quiter

it lasts for a few seconds... not long... some people will shoot a few rounds off at the start of the game and when they get close to someone do the active reload so they have a little bit of a boost when shooting...

You're right, Scott, it has already been released on PC in Europe. As to the answer to your first question, I have no idea. The game has been patched for PC since its original release though, so they can't just put out the same content from the original release. I think the silence is troubling for a game already delayed before.

Here's the problem - supply is exceeding demand for it. Is it limited for a game that will sell ~10 million copies? Sure. Is it worth the 129.99 they are asking for it? No. I can still pre-order it anywhere, and chances are it will be available on the shelf several weeks after launch.

100,000 is limited. However, for double the price, I want something far more rare then that. While the game certainly has its hardcore fanbase, 80% of the people playing Halo are fratboys and casual fans, IE, they don't even want the limited edition, let alone the legendary edition.

Well, the helmet seems to be of a decent quality, and in my area, they don't even advertise the legendary in stores anymore, just normal and the tin-case limited. In fact, they are really pushing the tin-case edition.

It may be something that'll be on shelves for a couple weeks after release, but there may only be 2 or 3 on the shelves, and once they're gone, they're gone. With the massive ad campaign going on now (which will be even getting more heated in the next couple weeks, halo burgers from BK, anyone?), and midnight releases will also create hype, and it'll probably be on the news (especially after the console releases), so that will lead to an eBay craze.

So yes, I fully expect there to be a hunger for the legendary edition. Hell, there are ads on MySpace for it from the "do the survey and win blah blah blah" sites.

it depends on the game , it may be really popular and hard to get for the first few weeks so to make sure you get it. some of us put down $5-$20 on a game to make sure we get it. And there some times not only is it popular, if you preorder you will get some cool stuff with the game. so to make you sure you get the "special,limited" editions people put $ down.

I'm preordering Halo3..i never pre order any games other then halo 2... the only reason im preordering it is because i want the legendary edition( the one with the helmet) and i also want to pickup the game at midnight...

But as long as you can make it out somewhat early to a game store you should be able to pickup anygame that comes out

Only those who pre-order the game are guaranteed to get the game on the ship date. Otherwise, they just use the ship date as a general guideline for when to put the game up.

Trust me, I've been burned by it before. That, and it's not like you're paying extra, and you don't have to worry about getting to the store at 8am to get the game.

Some games even give you stuff if you preorder. For instance, some MMOs give you the chance to start a few days earlier than everyone else, unique rare items, gamertag reservation, etc. If you preordered Lost Planet, you got a figure.

Basically, there's no reason NOT to preorder.

Only time it's really worth preordering is when it's an exclusive CE that's going to sell out, like the Bioshock CE, or for example, the World of Warcraft CE's, or even the Legendary Edition Halo 3. Also, there are some cool pre-order giveaways; the Eternal Sonata Faceplates come to mind.

Otherwise, if it's a big release, it's better to just wait until release day since circuit city, best buy, or amazon offer it cheaper/with other exclusive stuff over gamestop and whatnot (IE - Guitar Hero 2 w/ free 1600 Points card, Bioshock for 49.99 this week at CC, Toys R Us' Madden deal last week), and very rarely do games sell out ever these days. ****, I've been burnt more for preordering recently (Gears of War not shipping to Gamestop, when I walked into best buy and saw dozens of copies).

I Generally only pre-order stuff i know i'm going to want, and by doing that, i can slowly make payments on it, so i don't have to drop $60 on a new game all at once. I can gradually pay it before it comes out. In most cases i can have a game paid for before it even comes out, so when it does come out, i just gotta go to the store and pick it up, hassle free :D That's how it works for me. Otherwise i don't really care for pre-orders much, its only on stuff i really want.

well said, it doesnt cost you More to pre-order, and if you know you are going to get it, why not? and in most cases, if you don't want it, you can always cancel it and get your $$$ back. No loss on your own side.

For me it's considering of where I live. I have a friend who works at Gamestop and he told me that they're only getting 30 copies of Bioshock in. So I pre-ordered just to guarantee I'm one of those 30. Yeah the Target or Wal-Mart might have them, but this gives me a guarantee and peace of mind.

Sometimes pre-ordering is the only way to assure yourself a copy of a game. Certain smaller/lesser-known release can often sell out in no time, since EBs etc. will only get enough to fill pre-orders and then one maybe two extras to sell to whoever walks in.

Or even some bigger releases too. I remember Bully for PS2 selling out within the first day in my area. Same with Gears of War in most locations. Same with limited/collector's editions anymore. It used to be you'd see a ton of special editions, but lately a lot of places will only get in as many as they had pre-orders for, and if they're lucky, a few others.

Granted, it's not always necessary. Like Madden (not that I play sports games anyway), I would never pre-order, as I know that every single store in the world is going to have about a billion copies.

I love bioshock, not really sure about Stranglehold, it annoyed me that everytime you got near a table he'd slide across it, without having any momentum at all to do it. It had some fun stuff in it though, so it wasn't a Total loss. It's a rental for sure, and thats it. It just seemed like a different version of Max Payne or Dead to Rights.

BioShock- Amazing. Never have I had a demo blow me away like this one. I know I was huge on Crackdown; but that doesnt even come close to the awesomeness of BioShock...


Stranglehold- Cool games, really like the controls and "special" things you can do. Very interactive enviroment. But I do not know if I will buy it, definitly rental though...

Watch out, there is no save system in infinity mode. To get 5 and 7 day survivor you gotta leave the system on the whole time. And don't go in the food court on day 4 or it'll freeze.

I was usin' my head, and pondering about UT3.

Now, they're working with Microsoft to figure out how to allow mods over the Xbox 360.

If this is successful, think of the possibilities. If anyone has ever had Halo on the PC, they might remember a little thing call Halo Custom Edition, which was a little download that allowed you to use mods and custom maps and such.

Think about that, but for many of the games out there today. A little mode in which you could download popular mods for games, and leaves that data separate from the game, so that people can't tamper with the code or anything.

I dunno, if it works, it could make things a LOT more interesting.

Also, I don't know why we 360 fanboys don't brag about XNA. We can make our own games for the 360. How cool is that?

Good lord the Bioshock Collector's Edition is huge. The box is about as big around as a 4x4...mayber more like a 4x5....and since the game case is normal size, most of that space is taken up by the Big Daddy fig.

VERY worth the 70 bucks IMO. Yay for getting it early....tee hee.:p ;)

After playing the Wii and 360 versions, the Wii is clearly a lot more fun to play. Yes the players look great on the 360 version and the control is somewhat better than '06 or '07 it's still not as polished as the previous-gen engine is.

Madden is 3 games into their "next-gen" series and they still don't have a net that goes up behind the field goal to catch the ball? No referees on the field to measure if a ball reached first down or not? Are you kidding me? :mad:

Moving players around the field with the 360 version still doesn't feel anywhere near as smooth and responsive as the previous-gen engine still does. It's like an exercise in frustration honestly and it just makes it not fun to play at all.

I saw the ad for CC this week, and I almost cannot say no for an "old school" launch price. It sure beats this generation's standard $59.99 price. The sad part is even though I didn't play a whole lot this past weekend, I finally got my ass back to Cyrodil---I will finally hit the main quest....but I've still got Deepscorn Hollow to visit. :p

Yeah, exactly. Patience is the best financial factor in the gaming world. Why pay $65.34* on one new game when you could purchase 2-3 "used" titles for the same price two months later?

Same reason I stopped paying for movie admissions (except when I'm forced to take a girl to theatres :mad: ); one ticket is $10.00, yet I can spend $8.99 for unlimited Netflix rentals (which I do)


Although sometimes I wish I had neighbors and friends who shared the same interests ($) :D
