I am not a Halo fan. Most overrated game, ever.. But I will be getting it just to play with the guys I play games with on here. Thankfully tonight when I bought BioShock my friend said she could get me Halo3 for a "good price". So it may be worth it.

I loved Halo....I think the first Halo was so freakin amazing. I personally feel Halo2 was a step down, it's one of those if it's not broke don't fix it type things. I'm not saying Halo2 was a garbage game, I just think in the grand scheme of things Halo the original was like a 9.9 and Halo2 was a 9.3.

With that being said.....say what you will about Final Fantasy VII but it was a groundbreaking game. I'm not saying the gameplay was amazing or the controls or whatever else you want to point to was that great. But Final Fantasy 7 had a story that was on par if not better then most of the summer blockbusters of the last 10 years. Any game that can have those type of production values and actually deliver on them just has to get some sort of credit for it's contributions to gaming.

I know some people will hail it the best game ever made and they are certainly overrating it....but I can't help but to think FFVII really opened doors in terms of storytelling and music like it had never been before in games. There have been better games since FF7, there have been better RPG's since FF7, hell there have been better final fantasies since FF7....but at least to me I gotta respect how they went out there said "we are going to toss every single damn resource we have at this game and hope it works out" and when you give it everything you got and you deliver it's a beautiful thing.

One, when the lights go out, and you have a shotgun battle in the dark with about 5 nurses and a doctor. then again, I picked something up off a desk, and turn around, and Im nose to nose with a doctor. he didnt attack me or anything, he was just standing right in my face. freaked me out.

1. You could sign up and hope for the luck of the draw
2. You could play 3 hours of Halo 2 on certain dates then be the first of 13,000 and some to register.

noh the beta is long done. You could still have the beta downloaded, but you would be unable to do anything with it, except play Shadowrun... lol.

The bioshock demo looks amazing, no doubt. But I am worried that this game is gonna be one of those ones where I am like " was I just here, where do I go now?"

So far, I'd say "no", but I'm not in far enough. The developers had said in articles in EGM & online before that there'd be some backtracking, but not enough to piss you off (Soul Reaver, for example). In the early part of the game, it pretty much holds your hand and shows you where to go. Maybe Cory can answer your question best, as he's farthest of most of us, I'd assume (No spoilers, man!).

Well said. I know Halo 2 is newer, but I think I had more fun with Halo---at least with the multi. We had LAN parties galore on the original game, but we didn't enjoy the weapon balance in Halo 2 as much. Plus, you could tell the maps were catering to huge battles online, whereas we could maybe get 6-8 gamers to one house on a weekend night, what with life and work schedules. I still like the campaign of Halo 2, as far as size and "epicness". At least there is a campaign mode (**cough**Gears**cough**).

I don't hate FFVII (I believe we've discussed this before, but here goes again!), but I think its graphics and the fact it was being released during the "Playstation generation" helped to garner so much attention. FFVI is a better game, IMO. Characters who don't whine their asses off like Cloud, and Kefka is by far more diabolical than Sephiroth. :eek: I even liked FFVIII a bit more, but I know it's taboo to like that game. ;) That being said, the emotions conveyed in FFVII were powerful, even if the story went south on Disc 2. But back to my "Playstation generation" comment, I just think that if gaming wasn't as "uncool" in the days of the NES, SNES, Genesis, Master System, etc, more people would've experienced the Chrono Triggers, FFVI's, and Dragon Warriors, and they'd get more than just a passing mention. I guess I'm just an old codger. :D

Yep we used to have anywhere from 6-16 player LAN parties with Halo then when the second game came out not only did I not really like the weapon balance as much but everyone got anti-social. Why hang out on a saturday night well into sunday morning when everyone can just sign onto Xbox Live at 8:00 on monday. To me I didn't like the switch. Not only did online get boring but you wouldn't get nearly as many as a 8-16 turnout of friends and ehh I found myself just overall not enjoying the game as much.

I don't think anyone is trying to take away anything from Chrono Trigger or the early Final Fantasies I just think you are talking about two different realms of games. What Chrono Trigger did for early RPG's, FFVII did for this new generation of RPGs. Chrono Trigger proved you could cram a pretty awesome story into that tiny cartridge and have people love it. FFVII showed that you could cram a 50 hour long masterpiece of music, story, and visuals into a tiny round disk. Where as FFVII took from Chrono Trigger and expanded on it half the RPG's released today take bits and pieces from FFVII and expand on it. I hate the playstation generation as much as everyone else....the guys who think the only system that exsisted in the 1990's was the PS. But I'm not going to hold it against that generation for just randomly stumbling across something so impressive.

Oh by the way FFVIII was awful. IX was better and X blew it out of the water. XII - ehh, I'd rather play my videogames not watch them.

That whole time I was on my PS3 playing The Godfather. There was nothing on the 360 to play so I went over and started playing the PS3 while also signing onto the 360 to talk draft strategy on Xbox Live. By the way the Godfather is an awesome game. But anyways yeah I'm probably back playing the 360 religiously until Heavenly Sword drops.

there is a SMALL amount of backtracking. but to bad. there is also a map, that shows all points of interest (med stations, gene stations, DNA stations). and if you get REALLY REALLY stuck, holding down RIGHT on the dpad brings up a window that gives out hints.

This same kind of ..."oh my GAWD....this game is hte awesome!!!!!" enthusiasm hit with Crackdown....as well as the Halo 3 Beta...as well as Dead Rising. And I'm sure it will again when Assassin's Creed comes out....and when Two Worlds finally makes it out...and a host of other games.

I played the demo...it is an awesome game...but for me personally...it is not SOO AWESOME that I'd want to spend $60 on a game that I can get the exact same amount of play time out of from an $8 rental.

Either way...enjoy it, then sell it to your buddy in 3 days....that makes a great case for your arguement of it's value :confused:

It's all about what you like, some people like it more then others, some like it enough to purchase it, others rent it. I'm sure i will be purchasing it eventually, too many pre-orders and bills coming up to justify paying $60 on a game right now. Anyway i'm addicted to Crackdown at the moment anyway.

Don't be such a downer bro.. :) I would rather have a 15-20 game with a great story/gameplay/special abilites than a 40 hr stretched out boring game. As for this being a rental, personally it is worth the $60. The demo for this so sold me. It is probably the best demo I have ever played, seriously. But for you it may be just a rental. You are the King of Rentals. :D

As for your question...I found Dead Rising to be brutally boring...and no, I thought Crackdown sucked. So far...the best demo I've DL'd in quite some time I'd have to say...was that Blacksite 51 demo.

What I am saying is....I can wait......till it's at my blockbuster and rent it for two weeks for $8 and get the exact same enjoyment out of it that you guys are getting for $60......that's all. Hey fellas I have been gaming on my 360 online for 5-7 months now and just recently it stopped working anyone have any problems/solutions like this

and the one on the right that says Xbox is solid green

First of all the game is definately awesome. It had alot of things going for it for the type of wide open game it is. The fighting system was far better then probably any other free roaming game I had played. It actually had cover and destructible cover. Going in guns blazing was the quickest way to an early death, plotting and planning your movement with you and your crew was great. Taking over the city, extorting people, roughing people up, throwing people through store front windows.

Then again why am I listening to you about The Godfather not being a good game....you are the same person who thought Grand Theft Auto, Saint's Row etc were weak games too. You are probably the only person I know in this entire world that doesn't like free roaming games.

By the way I would love for you to take chugga_sucks as a screen name....it will only make things more hilarious/ironic when chugga beats chugga_sucks.

I can see where Keith is coming from, though, because I personally feel it kind of applies to a majority of this generation's games. There aren't hardly any games that have come out in the past 6 months that are worth dropping $60 on. There are some good/great games, but many aren't worth owning. Is BioShock one of them? Possibly. I will say I was hyped, then not hyped, then afraid due to not being done with some games I've owned for a bit and still haven't finished. I could've grabbed the $50 price at Circuit City yesterday, but I decided to see if I could trade in an online movie to get BioShock for $4.99 at Lackluster...score! I'll be going the rental route not because I think the game sucks (it doesn't), not because it doesn't have multiplayer (Playing with/against online people doesn't always make a game great, folks), but I just can't talk myself into paying for it, because I don't see myself going it through it more than 1 or 2 times. In fact, the only games I plan on buying the rest of this year (assuming they all make it out, of course **cough**Valve**cough**):

Halo 3
Mass Effect
Rock Band (the WHOLE package)
Assassin's Creed
The Orange Box

There are plenty of other good games coming, but I just don't see them all as purchases.

Just because I beat a game in a week or so doesnt devalue the fact of whether or not it is a great game. I will still hype this game to anyone who asks about it. And when/If you play BioShock I can not see you being let down. And if you are than I will not believe it. This is a very entertaining game. I played it from 10 to 7am last night till this morning(girlfriend wasnt to happy:o) Honestly just seems like you are being negative just to be negative. You could just say,"really, its that good?" Doesn't blockbuster put those barcode stickers on their Games/Dvds? I know hollywood video doesnt, take it there and swap it, F those places anyway. But just hope you don't get a copy that's already scratched :D

They don't rent out the controllers, just the game, but for Rock band who knows, i doubt they'll let people rent stuff like that though.

If you have Guitar hero 2 already, you can use that controller, If not, you can use a regular controller, it just won't have the same feel to it, and won't be as much fun, probably a lot harder too.

I was told the guitar will double as a bass, they don't have a specific one made for it, So if you got Guitar Hero 2 already, you're set, you can just get the game with the guitar and the Xplorer Guitar will work with it, so i'm told. All you need is (assuming you want to get the whole package) is the guitar, mic, and drums, and you're set. Unless you want to buy another guitar, go for it :)

I dont know if i'll buy this right away, maybe i'll ask for it for Xmas or something, i already have too many to buy, not to mention i'm getting guitar hero 3 when it comes out.

when you research ( or take a baddies picture), when you get 100% research, your weapons will get a damage upgrade against the baddie

invtenting is no biggie. you'll find oddball stuff to pick up around the leavels. i.e. glue, rope, hose, kerosene, screws. take them to a U-invent machine, and they will make bullets, weapons, plasmids. instead of just having to buy them

I'm actually enjoying this demo. It's not easy like THPS is/was. It's totally new and it's really challenging to get the control scheme down. It definitely takes some getting used to doing flip tricks, manuals and the like. But it's pretty fun. It's more realistic than THPS.

The only thing bothering me right now is the view. I wish I was zoomed out a tad bit.

Skate was okay, but the controls are bad. The camera is a big part of what makes the controls bad. You can't judge anything with that low camera so you will mess up on some of the easiest tricks. If you can switch the camera in the final version, I may consider buying it. I also feel that they want you to be far too precise with the controls for the game to be any fun. I think I've done more pop shuv-its than any other trick and that's with trying all kinds of different combinations. As stale as Tony Hawk is, I think it is still more fun. They weren't aiming for realism, just fun.

I don't know if it is based on each store's own policies, but my local Lackluster will rent you the guitar and a GH game, but their signs on the shelves say "for an extra price". I've never rented either GH edition from there, though, since I own them both on PS2.

I'll admit, the "Forge" option didn't sound all that much different than the customizable match options of Halo & Halo 2 before, but after reading this article, it seems even better than ever. Now, if only other games would give you as much control of your gametypes, rules, etc..... :(

Buy!? Hell, man, I am more of a "buy-to-rent". Why pay $50 to buy, or waste $9 to rent, when one can charge the cost of a used game at the local EB, get my play time in for 7 days, and then return it for a full refund? ;)

As for the "subtle" Gamerscore jab---I guess I'm a bit guilty of that, no doubt about it. But then again, my 30,000 is crap compared to some people I've played against. Hell, one of our own Spawn.com members has 100,000 plus. Then again, you'll find no children's games on my played games. I can admit I've played some really crappy games, but then again, I think it was ingenious on Microsoft's part to put achievements as part of the platform. There are numerous games that have been played by 360 gamers for points that more than likely would never have been played otherwise.

I've got the same linksys router myself because I was told it was one of the best for the price...but on my PS3 I'm lucky to even hit a 70% connection on a good day.

I've been wanting to get the Airport Extreme too...but I don't actually have an Apple computer though...I was thinking about getting one when it's time to upgrade next. I'm kinda done with the whole gaming pc thing...they are expensive and I haven't played a game on my pc in over a year. But I like what Apple does I can only imagine their router is pretty solid.

So wait your PS3 has connection issues too then? The weird thing is, is I only have anywhere between 50-70% signal strength but I'm downloading things twice as fast on the PS3 then I am on a direct ethernet connection to my 360. Does the actual signal strength % number even mean anything because honestly I had 1 router that had a 25% signal strength on my PS3 and it seemingly moved just as fast as this one.

The only killer thing are the system updates, I might as well cook dinner, watch a movie, and read a book before it finishes.

70% of your wireless connection should be fine for games. I mean you are probably running the 54 mbps router. Your average internet connection is 1-3 mbps. So 70% should be more than enough to handle that.

you can use your laptops wireless connection to your 360 so you know :) I do that with my iBook. I plug my 360 to my ibook with internet connection sharing on the wireless adapter. If you want the steps on setting it up with windows its very easy and lots of guides on google for it. Just PM me if you need more info on it.

So wait your PS3 has connection issues too then? The weird thing is, is I only have anywhere between 50-70% signal strength but I'm downloading things twice as fast on the PS3 then I am on a direct ethernet connection to my 360. Does the actual signal strength % number even mean anything because honestly I had 1 router that had a 25% signal strength on my PS3 and it seemingly moved just as fast as this one.

The only killer thing are the system updates, I might as well cook dinner, watch a movie, and read a book before it finishes.

That's odd, I'm almost the opposite. My 360 always connects to my wireless network without a hitch, and I've never been dropped by it. My PS3....seems every time I want it to even connect, I have to reboot my router, and even then everything takes forever to DL.

WOW...I played Bioshock last night...the free way, borrowed my friends (heck he didn't even play or open it yet, just brought it to me)...It is kind of intense, silent hill/resident evil kind of intense. I only played for about 1-1.5 hours. I'll probably stay up all night playing tonight.

There are quite a few people on GameFAQS stating they've got it already. In normal GameFAQS fashion, they're either trashing it, or uber-praising it. There doesn't seem to be any level-headed/honest reviews of the game there. The universal comment so far seems to be terrible framerate/lag issues.

I thought skate was interesting, i'm def going to rent it and see what else we can do, Skate Team? sounds cool. It has more of Simulator feel to it because you actually have to try the actual moves instead of just pushing random buttons. That's what i liked most about it.

Going by the comments on both GameFAQs and the Xbox.com forums, yes, Scott, it is. I surely hope it's not the issue it sounds like, because the ability to co-op online is pretty much the selling point for this game. Once again, I feel that all games should run from a central server, instead of having 1 person be "host", and the others feeding off that connection. :(

Ok so lets start off, the game opens up you hear the backstory about what happened....apparently there was a war and the Orc God was killed but the other races (mainly humans) of the world wouldn't give the corpse back to the Orcs for proper burial, instead they kept him sealed up in a magic coffin. But thats neither here nor there. So you go to "start new game"

I'm pumped, the character builder is pretty deep. It's not exactly Oblivion but I mean theres alot of cool little features. The first tiny itty bity disappointment was when I started creating my guy and the skin tone bar went from a spectrum of Powder to Powders mildly darker brother. I wanted to create the great black suburban knight but no such luck. I settled for the great white knight with a tan. I get my height, limbs, eyes, nose, face etc all together and the game boots up.

The first thing you'll notice is how awful the graphics are but I mean this is a massive RPG who the hell cares about graphics in the long run. I mean character faces are borderline PS2 but it was something I could get over if the story/gameplay was stellar.

So anyways the intro movie starts up with some random guy and his sister fleeing but the sister doesn't make it and is inevidably kidnapped. Poor guy but who the hell cares, it's not my problem. Scratch that...it is my problem...the guy that I spent 10-15 minutes making in the character creater would be replaced by a generic generated character in the intro movie. But hey it's only the intro movie right, I'll get over it.

So anyways they finally unleash me into the open going into my first cave. The controls are just awful. I'm not sure if you want to call it unresponsiveness or lag but either way you get the idea. His motions on screen always seem to be a step or 2 behind what you are actually pressing. But oh well it's still got the potential for a great story. Then comes my first fight....the B button does a small leap backwards to dodge attacks and the trigger will start up a combo....1 trigger press is a stab, 2 is a stab then slash, 3 is a stab, slash, slash, you get the idea. It's alot like Fable but if Fable was awful and responded slowly. So anyways I'm still psyched my first fight with what look like trolls. I come in and hack away only to realize half of my health bar is gone...so I do the smart thing and hack, back away, hack back away, and by time both of them are dead I'm already completely and utterly disappointed in the combat system. So anyways I finish up the tomb, walk outside and see someone ontop of the hill so I go to talk to him and heres where the game was flat out over with in my mind and it was going back to the store....not only was the dialogue just awful, the voice acting was some of the worst I've seen but to top it all off what put the cherry on the top of this ice cream sundae of suck was the fact that Mr. Generic Created character was the one doing the talking again. From all indications I played far enough in the game to get a total of 4 cutscenes and my created character showed up in absolutely none of them.

That was it for me. The gameplay is sluggish and boring, the fighting system is some of the worst I've ever played in my life, and overall while I'm the farthest thing from a graphics ***** the same visuals that really brought me in and made me care for the world of Oblivion were tossed out the window in 2 worlds and made me wonder why I was even playing. Overall awful game, if you want to play it rent it. Anyone who spends $60 on this game is an idiot (including myself)...and I'm completely warning you. Do yourself a favor and if you really want to be the judge of it yourself rent the game first....if you really really wanna do yourself a favor pretend this game never exsisted.

That's mainly why I bought it to play online with our "gang" but wow. It is choppy, looks like it may be a bit on the boring side, gameplay is weak.
