that was the problem I had with the first xbox...often when playing a game (any game, regardless if the disc was brand new or not), the game would stop and the screen would say disc cannot be read....I would have your 360 checked out...

What crack are people smoking when giving COD4 best graphics on home systems nods? Is it the low res textures, the ****tastic water effects, or bland geometry getting it done? It looks almost exactly like COD2 with a few more dumb filters thrown on, but overall it's nowhere near Gears of War or any other UT3 powered game for that matter.

It's by no means a bad looking title, but I can name 10 games off the top of my head that are more graphically impressive.

Having fun so far, but I was expecting a lot more graphically.

I was thinking the same thing when I was playing COD4. The graphics are nothing special. Bioshock, Gears, and Mass Effect are so much better graphically than COD4. I was shocked when I started playing it and was like this is what all the hype is about with the graphics. It was just so unimpressive.

1. shows people off line when I look at their gamer card
2. it wont let me join someones party on COD4, but it will let me join their game, once they're in game.
3. when ever I open my info blade during a game, it freezes up, litereally, every time I open it

Live has actually been good for me lately.(knock on wood.) It was reallty crappin out on me before but these last couple of days it has been stress free even during the really heavy gaming hours. Only problems now is in COD4 the host ending games too early and getting kicked out of rooms. I wish COD4 used the party system from Halo but then again I thought Halos Multi was amazing, just wish I could stomach the game more........

Another thing about COD4 is that Veteran is so easy. I think I could actually finish most Veteran levels without even firing a shot since your teammates just absorb bullets and nades without even getting a scratch. If it wasnt for the fact that I get bored waiting for them to kill the bad guys I wouldnt use my gun. They need a in between COD4 and COD2. COD4 you can pretty much just let your teammates do all the work while you just take cover. In COD2 it was pretty much the entire german army against you.

Hey, I moved to Denver in September to start a real job after graduating. It's been pretty awesome out here so far, no complaints. I seem to be decent at NBA, but get smoked in NHL most the time.

The Veteran mode in CoD2 wasn't that bad though. I haven't gotten around to attempting CoD4's Veteran mode yet. However, if the epilogue (on Veteran) is any indication of how it's going to be, then I might not even try it.

It's not. That Mile High Club mission is the anti-Christ, but none of the other missions are quite as hard as that. Challenging, but not "break things in the house" tough like that one.

Yep, that's one thing about it, it has to be a headshot on Veteran or he shoots the hostage.

There's some vids on youtube that show you the optimal way to do it, but I just can't play the game like they do. I try to do what they do, but somehow something always goes wrong.

That is by far one of my favorite missions... reminds me of that old rainbow six map on the jumbo jet.

Tell me about it. It's virtually impossible to do that on Veteran. One or two good hits and you're down... and there's a lot of bad guys on that plane.

You pretty much have to know the enemies... and then shoot them through walls, seats, and whatever the hell else they hide behind.

Yeah I wonder if mine was a refurb or not.The mfr date was 11/17/07 but they could have easily slapped a new tag on it and called it new. Mine is a top my entertainment center a foot and a half from the wall behind it and has nothing else on top with it but a lamp at the other end of it.So it should never get hot. I am wondering if I am having problems with the failure due to a bad power supply they just asked my buddy to send his power cord in with it after his got repaired and sent back and burnt up after 3 days.or maybe they just sent me a crap one .

So, if you pre-ordered prior to that date, you may be entitled to getting it pricematched via a preorder price guarentee depending on the CS rep you get, as sometimes they don't honor mistakes (it's like 80/20 chance of having them honor it, in favor of them honoring their mistake).

So I wrote them last night POLITELY asking them if I would be entitled to a price adjustment, and sure enough, I just got an e-mail back stating the new price for the SE of GTA 4 for me will be 59.99 shipped!

Absolutely cannot beat that deal, and it makes up for the ass-ramming I took with the Halo Legendary set (I paid 99.99 but it went as low as 59.99).

Nah, it's not gonna be another Two Worlds disappointment. For one, it's not trying to "beat" something like Elder Scrolls and two, it's actually a pretty fun little hack and slash game. Frankly, it beats those lame ass strategy installments they called "games." God was I pissed after I bought the first KUF on the original Xbox.

There's actually still a bit of strategy involved, but not much more than some of the latest Dynasty Warriros games. Still, it's a fun game and I can't wait to own it. Ninety-Nine Nights was a bit of a disappointment, so hopefully this will trump it.

It's not like an Oblivion or Two Worlds RPG. I didn't really care for it. It's like the Dynasty Warrior games. Basically, a ton of enemies and you hack and slash with spinning attacks and stuff like that. You can change your weapons and attacks...but the combat is identical to all of the "Dynasty" games.

Easy "pass" for me.

lol....approach what situation.....every 40 to 50 feet.....a group of 10-15 enemies comes running at you. It's the same over and over. Sure...there are a couple tougher enemies.....just like there are enemy bosses in "Dynasty". Put it this way....it's a hell of a lot closer to the "Dynasty Warrior" games and "Ninety-Nine Nights" then it is to Oblivion.

Of course, it's a hack and slash. But it's not "identical" to Dynasty Warriors... or N3 for that matter. It has rpg elements that neither of those two have. And you can't "always" hack and slash your way through the game. You really do have to approach each situation with some type of thinking.

You have a sort of "fatigue" meter that you have to wait for it to recharge after depletion, and it goes down relatively fast during a skirmish. Some weapons quickly recharge the fatigue meter, letting you last longer in combat, but providing minimal attack strength, other's don't... but provide stronger attack power.

Well this Heat mission on COD4 has me ready to break my controller. It is almost as bad as the Airplane mission. It is where you are at the Barn and have to get down the hill to the LZ. I cant even get away from the barn without being slaughtered.
move towards the right down the ditch toss smoke nades to cover your movement across the road. and through the house (making your way to the left side of the map) chopper next to the gas station looking thing.
smoke nades are your friend in this mission
believe me i understand the frustration took me a little bit to move through it then i checked out how others did it on youtube

I seem to be able to get to that pipe that goes under that road then there is always a magic nade that lands right at the in front of the pipe as I am about to get out. At that time you are just screwed because when you are in there you move to slow to throw it out of the way or back out so it doesnt kill you.

That was my strategy as well.

Leave barn.....head to little barn on the right....call in air-stike to take out guys in the big field to the right.....haul azz......drop down and lay flat before getting to little tunnel......call another airstrike between the little tunnel and the house.....haul azz to the right side of the house....drop down and lay flat....call another air strike on the hill......haul azz down the hill and to the gas station.....don't even bother trying to hold off the enemies....just take cover....let your AI teammates do it......cause you don't want to make it all the way to the bottom of the hill only to die while you're waiting for the heli to arrive.

Man it would have been useful if I had figured out that you can tell if you have the intel on each level. If you go to the options menu then cheats it tells you how many intels are on the level and how many you have found.

I only had 2 left to find when I figured it out. I already knew where I had missed one. So I just started up missions and would go straight to that menu and if it said I found them all I quit and tried a different one.

I have the GH3 wireless bundle that im looking to get rid of only because i have rockband and dont play it anymore.. Slight problem is that the odd time the green button will not read very well. It will kinda cut in out. It is ussually pretty good tho. If anyone is interested let me know

Woohoo. Finally got past that damn War Room mission. I blew up the missiles with about 5 seconds left. Thank god once you do that it is pretty much smooth sailing. That level was almost as bad as the damn Mile High Club mission. Once I got that Checkpoint Reached save right when you start going into the tunnels I knew I was in decent shape. It took me a while to get through the tunnels to the door, but once you get that checkpoint at the door it is pretty easy from there.

See I could make it past the big room, but it wouldnt be a check point. So I would die in the tunnels and then have to start back at the stairs. I notice that they only give you a checkpoint if you reach the point with a certain amount of time left. I had about 5 and half minutes left when I got to the tunnels to get a checkpoint there and about 2:30 for the checkpoint at the door. Once you get the checkpoint at the door you are golden.

Carcassonne was free a couple of months back, but that lasted for a few days, there's also gonna be a free arcade game given as compensation for the poor XBL service of the past couple of weeks......as for price reductions....there are a few games that have now been permanently reduced. If you go to the Arcade Hits section of the store you'll find them.....Small Arms, Marble Blast Ultra, Bankshot Billiards 2, Lumines Live and Zuma......

That's true. I can never put down Madden however, especially since it's the only real football game anymore!
I'm guessing you're referring to the vast amount of random fumbles in the game especially when you're hit by a guy who hits the arm without the ball and the ball squirts out 10 yards back? Too many fumbles overall=annoying Xbox Live play.

I agree and now that you mention it, Jason had his LB's make some impossibly difficult looking picks too, very cheap but whatever. There was one that came to mind when I fired a 5 yard pass with Vince Young and some LB on the Steelers grabs it out of nowhere like he dove 10 feet for it.

I have 3 xbox 360s in my house. The reason is that i have three kids that scratch DVD movies. So i bough a windows media server and have all my movies stored on it. Now they can just turn on a 360 in their room and watch any movie they want.
So back to the question is there a way to move my gamertag to the other 360s without recovering my gamertag all the time? Can i save my gamertag on a memory card and just move it from 360 to 360?

I kind of depends on how you play it. It is an RPG with shooting thrown in. If you do the soldier class there is quite a bit of shooting, but there could be less if you choice more of the biotic classes.

Anyone get the "Unplayable disc" error while still on the dashboard? None of my games work, and MS wants $100 to fix it. My warranty ran out 2 weeks ago. This is a refurbished console (2005 model ... sigh) that I got 3 months ago because my original Xbox had RROD.

Would it be better to fork over the $100 for another refurbished model or spend that $100 towards a new Xbox with the new chip, heatsink, etc. Are the new ones proven to be alot more reliable? Thanks

Yeah, once you log in at MGC.net there's a ton of different designs there to choose from on that main page. Just enter your gamertag then 'Select Theme' and some of those themes have different colors/options. Just hit that 'Generate gamercard code' button and it will give you more options - select the Forums (Image) tab and there you'll have the BBcode to copy and paste into your sig.

I have been thinking about purchasing some surround sound earphones for online gaming. Has anyone tried out the Turtle Beach X3 Earphones and if so what are your thoughts?


Wifey got me a set of Turtle Beach Surround Sound headphones for my late night gaming as a X-mas gift. I absolutely love them. I notice noises in COD4 that I never heard on my standard 5.1 audio setup (since I couldn't crank it up). Sharp, crisp, and if you want them to...they can blow your ears out. I usually have mine set to around a 3 (out of 10) and that is plenty loud, loud enough to hear the footsteps of the players in online COD4 games.

The "chat" sounds will have a deeper bass to them then they do with the 360 headset...but you get used to it fairly quickly.

The headset doesn't work if you're using the HDMI connection as you need to plug the audio (red/white) section of the Component cables into the red/white "pass through" plugs. Then you plug another wire into the USB in the front of your 360. Then you get the game audio and the chat audio in the same feed through one headset.

Sorry. A receiver and a pre amp are basically the same thing except the pre amp has seperate amplifiers.

Looks like I misunderstood anyway. This headset just connects to your video game system then huh? I was thinking it might work for my late night movie viewing but I guess it won't.

Someone gave me a good deal on Marvel vs Capcom 2 and I wanna buy it but before I do I wanna make sure first that it plays. I've heard that the game doesn't play with even the patch for the backwards compatibility. Does anyone have MVC2 and play it on there 360?

i have played it a few times...seems to werk although there are some glitches in the video if i remember right...but it doesnt keep you from playing, may have something to do with the HD format as well....not sure.

I just picked up NCAA Football 08. (Used). How am I able to DL the rosters so they have players names, instead of numbers?
(I haven't played the game yet, just put it in this morning and DL an update that was available. So if something has changed and they use names now, forgive my stupid question).

Back in my PS2 days (December) I usually had to send a memory card to a friend. So I'm curious how to get current rosters with names on 360.

Yes... just hilight the game or empty tray and hit the appropriate button. It works for both the DVD tray and the HD DVD tray if you have the addon.

LOL. Dreamcast. I was going through stuff in my basement, and I stumbled upon my box that had all my Sega stuff in it. And when I say Sega I don't mean Genesis, or Dreamcast or Saturn. I mean Sega as in the first one. Sega Master System

I have to admit, I got a little teary eyed when I saw it, along with games like After Burn, Hang On, Safari Hunt, Shinobi, Zaxxon, Rambo to name a few of my favoites. I also laughed when I saw the gun and my 3-D glasses in the box too. Spent many hours playing those as a kid.

Do you use the red/white audio cables from your 360 to your receiver?

If you do...I imagine it will work. If you use HDMI...or an Optical out from your 360...it will not work......does that make it any clearer?

Tonight I'll officially have the 360 back. 3 straight days of Fed-Ex trying to deliver to my house at noon after I called them after the first day to hold it so I could just pick it up (Apparently the drivers don't get their messages very often :rolleyes: ). Been without a 360 for a long time, it first RROD'd around 12/9 - I towel tricked it for a couple weeks until I really blew it up, then three calls to Support to get a coffin sent to me which for some reason took 32 days. I got to play for a few days during then only because I borrowed someone else's for a couple of holiday parties.

I actually went with the standard return option and haven't even received my guitar coffin yet. I tried the fix that was posted online and opened up the Strat. One of the contacts fell right apart when I touched it so I was worried that they might not honor the warranty since I opened it up. I want my replacement so bad, it's such a great controller!
I finished the drum muffling trick last night, so much better and probably 10x quieter now too. Total cost was $24.79 at Michael's, $15.99 for the stupid circle-cutter which was hard to figure out how to use. Can you tell which ones I did first before I figured out how to use it? ;)

Just picked up Rock Band today and was wondering how you did this? Mainly what is the material that you put on the pads and what did you use to attach them? Also, does it affect the playing at all?

This is a great and easy mod - After you get the right size down, you're good to go. You'll need four colored sheets of adhesive felt, and four sheets of adhesive foam.

It's seriously a great mod that cuts the noise down a ton.

thats why I built a MAME cabinet with the 6button layout and joystick, so I could hook my xbox to it, and play SF2 and MvC2 and get it done right. probably the best $400 I ever spent

thats usually done by moving the system when its on or having it sit up. no replacement plan, best thing to do is go to a game crazy and have them buff the disc for $2. I got 4 $50 games that didnt work for $30 total, and spent $2 on each of them to buff. and they all ended up working
