Sorry for this question, but can anyone tell me what page in this thread the mod for the Rock Band drums is? You know, about putting the felt and padding on them to quiet them? Or can someone point me to where to find some instructions. Thanks!

His directions are near perfect. The only thing I would suggest is trying the practice ones on something a lot thicker than paper. The paper kept tearing on all my test patterns b/c it was so flimsy. I tried them on some USPS shipping boxes I had laying around, and those worked like a charm.

The guy charges $20 plus shipping. The materials will cost you right around $10, and the circle cutter can run from 20-30 depending on the brand and style. Michaels has a 60 day return policy, so if you're cool with buying it and than returning it, I'd suggest that route.

I had thought about modifying my drums after seeing the original posting by Ruutu, but my launch day drums broke over a month ago. I just barely filed the RMA for them, a day before my 60-day warranty expired. :D It's definitely something I'm going to look into doing when I get my replacement set.

I think it's the other way around. You can use the Guitar Hero 3 controller with Rock Band.

Not that way around. Works the other way. The XPlorer (GH2 wired) and Les Paul (GH3 wireless) will work with Rock Band but the Rock Band Stratocaster will not work with GH2 or GH3 games. I think they're even more exclusive on the PS3 where neither will work with each other. Sucks 'cuz the RB Strat is an awesome controller - I love the solo button set and the effects switch.

Thought I would share this.. not tried it out myself but let me know how it does!

To get the 48 hours free then you follow these steps below.

i bought Burnout paradies today. havent openned it yet. contemplating wether to return it or not. How are people liking to so far?

I'm a huge fan of the Burnout series, but have really had a hard time getting into Paradise. The whole open world feel just doesn't lend itself to this series IMO. A big part of this is because there's no ability to retry/restart an event. If you're in a race and don't win, you have to work your way all the way back to the intersection it started at. Lame. The map on the game is a joke too, which can make it really easy to get off track during an event. Also lame. Lastly, they took away the Crash events, which were easily my favorite feature in Burnout. There's a new "crash-like" event, but it just doesn't live up to previous versions. You guessed it, lame.

I really wanted to love this title, but too many changes have taken away what was fun in previous versions. With a few tweaks this could have been a great game, but the problems are too glaring to overlook in my mind.

CoD4 sold, didn't even own it a month I think. One of the most overrated games I've ever played, it's CoD1 with a total conversion mod to modern stuff. Doesn't even look that good, either.

Now, if you haven't tried The Club demo, do it. Seriously, one of the most interesting concepts I've seen recently and it seems like it can be addicting as hell.

Bizarre Creations does nothing but release polished, fun titles.

It can't be played online......it's a great game for when you've got friends round, but it does get repetetive fairly quickly. I'm holding out hope for some expansion discs as they've pretty much confirmed there's not gonna be any DLC.

Yeah, we got Scene It for Christmas. We played it once when the family was over and haven't touched it since. I played a couple games by myself one day just to get some achievements but that's it. It's cool and all, it's actually really well done and the buzzer controllers are pretty cool but it's just not a game you're going to play a lot.

imo it's definitely a renter for anyone who likes killing dinosaurs and such, and a buy for hardcore TUROK fans. I'm really enjoying it, but i love those dinos:D most the reviews I've read said ****ty check points and too hard, but if those bother you go for it.

If you can get a group of people together..it's a blast. It's a game you will get VERY tired of if your trying to play it on your own. It's a great family holiday game.

As for The Club - Chugga, did you try it a few times? Don't think of it as a shooter. It's a racing game.

The one who got the arrow right between the eyes actually made me jump. My reaction mirrored the facial reaction of Turok on the screen......."oh shlt....that had to of hurt" :D

I played through it twice and other then hating the aiming it just wasn't my cup of tea. It felt like a game that should debut at a $20 price point and if it did then maybe just maybe I'd give it a go. But like I said the one thing about The Club that I noticed wasn't that it was a terrible game or anything like that, just the fact that it was a game that I dont' think anyone in the entire world can justify spending $60 on. It's seems like the perfect there are no games out, I'm bored this weekend, it's only $20 used type of game. But between Devil May Cry and Lost Odyssey I don't see much reason to get the game let alone pay full price for it.

It's weird because usually I'm the last person to complain about price but more and more as time goes on videogame developers are starting to push out a bunch of games that simply aren't worth their asking price (and I myself have fallen prey to buying a bunch of them) and unfortunately this looks like a prime candidate for one of those games.

I DL'd and tried two games recently....The Club....and Conflict: Denied Ops. Didn't like either one.

As far as COD4 is concerned......everyone has different opinions and different likes/dislikes. Personally...I love it. But moreso for the multi then the story. It's got a great reward system that hadn't been done before. I'm sick of having a mad dash to the best weapon on the map....and COD4 accomplished this well.

But for anyone who doesn't like it. Whatever. That's cool with me. I feel absolutely zero need to try and convince anyone otherwise. Just like no matter how much effort someone spends trying to convince me Halo3 is awesome.....it's just not gonna happen. I thought Halo3 was a ho-hum game.

Buy and play what you like. But don't knock others who don't feel exactly like you do. COD4 is popular...because a lot of people do like it. Just like Halo3 is popular. And World of Warcraft is popular. Just because a lot of people like it...doesn't mean EVERYONE has to. Just accept that and move on.

I agree with you, Keith. I don't feel like I have to convince anyone of anything, I just felt like MPCanes was tempting the fates since it is the "cool" thing to say COD4 is the best game ever, when there isn't really anything revolutionary about the game. I mean R6: Vegas was already doing an online MP perk system, but for some reason (mostly because of Gears of War), it was an overlooked game. I'm a huge proponent of "play/buy what you like, others be damned", I just wanted to poke fun at 'Canes.

The problem I had with COD4 was if everyone says "It's ****ing awesome, buy it" - I'm gonna listen when there is no demo, and I don't have anywhere to rent stuff.

Then, when it's relatively un-awesome (much like Halo 3, or any other FPS that does absolutely nothing innovative), I'm kinda pissed. That's all. Is it a bad game? No, not at all. It's solid. But when all FPS are basically the same **** outside of graphics (sad but true), I'm just going to go with what "skin" appeals to me most. My person preference is Sci-Fi stuff, not military stuff.

And my biggest problem? Graphics compliments. Sorry, the game doesn't look great, and that's not opinion - it has serious technical shortcomings, and that bothers me that I'm told "buy this if you like when a game looks awesome", and it looks incredibly un-awesome.

And yes, un-awesome is a word.

Again, if you like Military shooters, it's probably the best out there. But not in the graphics department :).

You can always go the route of gamefly or gamerang. Thats how I rent my games. No due dates, keep the game as long as you want. Only downside is that it takes about a week or so to send a game back and get a new one. Although you could do the 2 out at once way then you have one while the other one is coming back.

Halo 3 was awful. Halo 2 was at least innovative, I suppose it gets some pity points for trying.

Halo as a videogame can best be described as the Matrix of the videogame industry. When it comes out you are like "this is freakin groundbreaking, this is amazing, I've seen alot of things exactly like this, but on the same note I've never seen anything like this...this is the greatest thing ever". Then the Matrix 2 comes out or in this scenario Halo 2 and everyones expecting it to be twice as good as the first one but it isn't...but even with all of that disappointment people still found room to like it. Then comes the 3rd installment and well....we all know how that goes. Robot home cities, spartan lasers, 10 minute long speeches with 50 poles stuck in your body, inability to choose what the hell you want to play. You get the point.

It's weird.

Of the Halo games, Halo 2's story is by far my favorite. But I can't play it again ever, because everything outside of the cut scenes bored me to tears.

If they could somehow fuse the gameplay of 1 or 3 with the story of 2, I'd be much happier.

And COD4 stories bore me for some reason. I can't put my finger on it, but something just feels off on the games...I feel theres no weight to anything I do. No umph. That's the only way I can put it. For example, on the third...or fourth? level of CoD 4, when the Helicopter crashes from right above you, it feels like a toy model spinning around. When **** crashes in Halo, I feel the weight behind it (Like blowing up a scarab).

As bad as that second to last level in Halo 3 it is nothing compared to the part of COD 4 when the bomb goes off. It takes you about 10 minutes to get out of the helicopter to walk around and do nothing until the level ends. It was a complete waste of time, and added nothing to the game.

I agree with you, Keith. I don't feel like I have to convince anyone of anything, I just felt like MPCanes was tempting the fates since it is the "cool" thing to say COD4 is the best game ever, when there isn't really anything revolutionary about the game. I mean R6: Vegas was already doing an online MP perk system, but for some reason (mostly because of Gears of War), it was an overlooked game. I'm a huge proponent of "play/buy what you like, others be damned", I just wanted to poke fun at 'Canes.

why does everything have to be revolutionary...why can't it just be fun to play. Maybe if Madden wasn't trying to do all these revolutionary things and just try to get the simple things right...it would be a great game. I have spent quite a bit of time after I got my burnout license just driving around smashing gates, and doing all the jumps and billboards. I love the car that you get for going through all the billboards. It has a 10 Speed, 10 Boost and 6 Strength.

I just thought about this Cory. What you might want to try is to do all the Super Jumps since the car they give you for that one is a fast Stunt car, then use that one to get all the Billboards to unlock the Carbon Hawker.

i dont think so. I think when you DL anything its tied to the console. I remember a friend didnt have LIVE, and took his HDD to a friends house and DLed a bunch of arcade games, but when he went home, they wouldnt boot up on his system.

I think it has to do with the account. You have to download them from your live account for you to be able to play them, or everyone with the RROD wouldnt be able to play anything the downloaded from past consoles. Although if you downloaded it from a different system you have to be connected to live to play them. I know Dave had an issue with that during the wonderful service of Live after the dashboard update where he couldnt play oblivion since they couldnt verify his downloaded content.

one of you take the tourqe bow the other take the sniper and try to have some nades one of you shoot him with the tourqe bow so the kryll go away the other take as many headshots as possible before they return (maybe two head shots for every tourqe bow. try to make the head shots with an acitve) try to stay in the light of course. should take about 23-24 headshots with the sniper and if you need to toss nades.

I would also suggest just shooting at him with the sniper rifle when the krill are gone. I found out that it doesnt matter if you hit him in the head or not. At first I was only aiming for the head, then when we beat him on insane I was just shooting at him. It is a lot quicker and easier.

Very traditional in every sense of the word. If you liked the mid final fantasies (FF6-FF9) it is basically identical.

The one thing I will most definately give this game credit for is the simple fact that the bosses are actually difficult. If you go into a boss fight unprepared or unknowing of a good stategy to take it out you will get beat and beat BADLY. I went into the first boss fight of the game basically auto attacking it and then it did an attack that did more damage then 2 of the characters in my party had hitpoints for. Worst part? He did the attack 3 times in a row.

So far of the 2 boss fights I've done they are both really cool and make you think. It's not like FF where you go into the fight knowing you can spam attack and then heal when necessary. One of the boss fights I was in lasted like 15 minutes....not because it took that long to kill him but because I was carefully thinking of each and every move I was going to do. You really have to think 2-3 moves in advance in every fight.

So far I think it's a great game. It's nothing revolutionary and if you don't like JRPG's this isn't going to be the game that changes your opinion. If you do like JRPG's then you should really like Lost Odyssey.

Also to those thinking on picking up Lost Odyssey, don't buy it if you suffer from depression....my god it's like the developers of the game intended to make the saddest game ever. I can imagine their boardroom meetings were like "ok so how do you think we can make a grown man cry while playing a videogame?....oh I know lets just make up and tell the saddest stories ever and make him play through an interactive funeral".

I mean really some of the stuff you read and play through is just awful. Still on disk 1 out of 4 but so far it's been a great game. I had every intention to stop playing the game at 3:30 today and then got stuck in a (I kid you not) 45+ minute long cutscene/interactive cutscene that didn't allow me to save anywhere in the middle of it.

Puppies first my man......we test the waters with those first and see how that goes....then maybe further down the line....kids will come. Looking at English Bulldog pups for me...and Yorkie pups for my wife right now.

I turned 30 on Super Bowl Sunday - not only did I get a kickass gift (my wife and all our friends pitched in to send me to the BMW Driving School for 2 days), I saw the Pats lose (not a fan of either team, but was sick & tired of "best team ever Tom Brady is the Second Coming," etc), and I was in the local paper highlighting mine & my wife's involvement of our retail video game franchise opening locally this year, Play N Trade(.com).

A pretty good day, imo.

Chugga...I know a lot of times you say its awesome...even when it isn't.....just so more people buy it and you don't feel like the only sucker in the bunch......but seriously....is Lost Odyssey worth it....or should I rent it....or should I just wait.

Mass Effect and Assasin's Creed (maybe even COD4) are on their way out. I need new blood.

I don't think you'd like Lost Odyssey. Theres ALOT of reading...I'm talking about 10-15 minute intervals of nothing but scrolling text. If you actually immerse yourself into the game enough to read all of these stories it's a hell of an experience but knowing you, you don't immerse yourself into any game that doesn't allow you to carry a gun so you'll hate it and be bored with it. If Mass Effect was able to bore you to tears then you'll fall asleep with Lost Odyssey before you even get to your first boss fight.

So my advice if your name is oaktown and have an attention span of a 2 year old ehh Lost Odyssey is not the game for you. If you really like JRPG's and have been waiting for a good one to come out for quite a long time this one is worth a shot. Although like I said it won't blow you away at all, it doesn't do anything new with the genre, but also it doesn't do anything "wrong" in terms of the genre either.

J stands for Japanese. Japanese RPG's are basically rpg's that are just linear in every sense of the word. Where as KOTOR is a game where how you play the game decides how the game itself plays out a JRPG is almost always an RPG where they write the story for you and it's just a matter of you getting through the game and seeing all of it. Nothing you do will every truly affect the game world at all.

As for it being mostly text based, you have to realize the game is based on an immortal man who has lived for over 1000 years and has lost his entire memory. So theres a feature in the game called "1000 years of dreams" where as the game goes on you unlock these dreams that give you a bit of a taste of his past as a human being and the things he's seen and lived through. But since there are 20 of these things they are all text based...like I said a good 10 minutes or so worth of reading for each.

But on the same note the game does have a ton of cutscenes that are actually acted out naturally. Last night I sat through a cutscene that lasted over 45 minutes where there were tiny gameplay elements mashed inbetween them. So the cutscenes are voiced over and done amazingly well but the dreams you'll unlock are all text. Granted you can skip them, but thats somewhat of a disservice to the game.

On another note, Blockbuster rentals really do rape your wallet these days, holy chit, I'm not even kidding! I only use them to play brand new full-price games that I do not want to buy for $60 but still want to play them right away. Otherwise if the game is on sale for $20 at Gamestop, I might as well buy the damn thing rather than rent it for $8. They didn't even have Kane and Lynch availiable, and by that, I mean they didn't even own a copy. Blockbuster is being put down by Gamefly and Netflix and I really should start using GF now for my rentals. Do any of you fellow gamers use their service and what do you think of it?

I'm too lazy to check back through the thread, but has anybody played the multiplayer demo for Frontlines yet? Maybe it's just me, but I think it's terrible. Tons of glitches(which are understandable 'cause it's a demo), pretty crappy graphics, weak guns...just everything about this game feels terrible to me.

I havent been getting too much lately. I just picked up Madden08 for about the 5th time. And LEGO star wars CS, so I can play co op on it.

on a side note, I finally completed all the acheivments on Puzzle Quest. It was awesome. I saw it also came out on the PSP. does anyone know if the game on PSP is any larger than the LIVE version? Meaning, are there more quests and cities?
