Only for the first week or so. After that it will be available to everybody. The game doesn't hit the shelves for another month anyway, so even if you wait there will still be plenty of time to decide if this game is for you.

Demo is pretty good, commentary is included this year too for those who are wondering. I still don't understand the logic of people complaining how gold members shouldn't get new stuff first over non-paying members. Paid subscribers should get the perks of getting first shot at new items.

This is crazy - people used to post all the time in here. Haven't in awhile, myself. I don't think you can tell who left it........but my best advice to you is....who cares. Your rep doesn't mean anything on LIVE so don't let the childish actions of others bother you.

The only time I've ever repped is when new boardies signed up...just to get them started.....and I don't even bother doing that anymore.

I have gotten the 'unsporting' feedback once before. I hadn't played Gears in a few months and decided to get on an unranked match. I didn't have any kills for the first couple of rounds, so I decided to leave the match - which I did acknowledge by saying, "thanks guys, it was fun," even though it absolutely sucked. I didn't just cut and run. The unsporting feedback basically translates into "we all think you suck."

I was peeved when I saw this on my rep, as well. Since then, I don't believe I have had anymore unsavory feedback. The first cut is the deepest, I suppose:rolleyes:;):) Sorry to hear you got hosed.

It's not possible to see who gave you bad rep but my rating was pristine until after playing an online match of Medal of Honor: Airborne (a rental) which nobody to my knowledge really plays.

It was two against one on Team Deathmatch and to my luck, I was the guy running solo. I decided to stick with the game but was horrifed when these two clowns start spawn camping me with grenades and the like (2 vs. 1!). I decided to hide in the thick brush (no radar if you're quiet and don't fire your weapon) for the remainder (like 3-5 minutes tops) after I had tied the score at 7. When it comes down to the final ticking seconds, I pop out of my hiding spot and kill the spawn campers as time expires to win the game. One of the guy's was clearly pissed and threatened to give me bad rep. Sure enough, I check after a few moments and I now had 18 % avoided due to Unsporting Conduct. I really don't think I did anything wrong because I was being severely spawn camped in a ranked match where I was already outnumbered.
Anyways, rep doesn't matter anyways because nobody pays attention to it and it's pretty easy to maintain your five stars considering nobody even gives rep unless it's negative or you beg them to give you some.

My friends have really got me going on COD4 and I really enjoy the multiplayer which I find more satisfying than Halo anyday. It was a little disappointing to find that there are no multiplayer achievements on COD4 while Halo has a bunch to unlock. I try not to be an achievement ***** but I do enjoy them. Anyways I just started prestige mode which sucks because I have to re-obtain all my weapons and challenges once again (once again, an achievement or two might have made this a little more fun to complete).

I absolutely love MP on COD4. I've noticed that my rep has taken a hit but that's because my girlfriend's little brother plays on my account sometimes and is one of those kids that will trash talk when he's up. But I don't pay it any mind since there are players out there who will do it just because you owned them during a Search and Destroy. Sore losers who have nothing to turn to but a rep rater that gives them the warm jumblies inside. That's why I try to stick to playing with boardies or friends where I don't have to worry about the immaturity in the rooms.

Yes, I was looking forward to this game, but the demo was a letdown. It was so easy for the enemy to kill my squad, but it takes buckets of bullets to kill the enemy. Ripoff. A friend of mine recommended Quake Wars, so I'll probably rent that next week...until GH: Aerosmith is released next Sunday.

5 vs 5 now, with AI bots for uneven matches

more weapons. with changing locales. where the boomshot might be one round, may be replaced with a shotgun the next

new online matches

Wingman- 5 groups of 2. each team plays as the same character. so 2 Doms vs 2Coletrains vs 2 Locust

Meatflag- capture the person (flag), but the flag fights back. the guy refuses to go with you, and actually shoots you unless you down him, then pick him up and try to run back to base with him

Guardian- combines asassination and with the respawns of Annex. So your team stays alive and respawns as long as your leader doesnt die

gridlock, rundown, and raining subway return. thats it. the rest are all new maps. with at least ten new ones

New Weapons
flamethrower flame shoots farther if you hit an active reload

poison grenade seems like just another grenade

shield have to use a pistol when you use shield. can also stick it into the ground, like the shield orb in halo

all grenades frag, smoke, and poison, can be stuck to walls, to act as trip mines now


Down Opponents
4 ways now

quick melee
Curb stomp
pickup and use as meatshield
Execution (seems like Fatalities)

If your the downed player, instead of pounding the button to slow the bleed out, now you pound the button to crawl to safety.

Host can now change maps and style of play, without having to boot everyone to the main menu now


you can take screen cap shots and upload them to the net. just like Halo3.

My question is why they had to keep Gridlock. I hated that map. It was probably my least favorite map behind Raven Down, but who didnt hate that one. Bring back Bullet Marsh so I can pop some more heads.

I also hope they bring back the hidden feature of MAP. It is a most for any Gears game.

Matt, you should be proud. I didn't keep running into walls during the Beserker chase:D Only got trampled 3 or 4 times, just from bad avoidances, or being kicked by the Beserker while I was down...I don't remember that happening before. Maybe it's part of Insane difficulty?

Also discovered that I have 90% of the cog tags. Just need 3 of them...too bad a player isn't able to see a checklist of which ones they already have. That would be a tad more convenient. Oh well, if I find 'em, I find 'em:)

if your working on getting 100 grenade kills, they will make it so only one grenade kill per round counts towards your acheivment count. they said it was done to make people choose different weapons instead of just sticking with one weapon the entire round

i try not to let the hype for a game get me too excited but man....this cant come any sooner.

I agree but in games like COD4 where the multiplayer/online experience is clearly more fun than the single player campaign it pains me that there are no multiplayer/co-op achievements. So basically, you sit there ranking up all the way to 55 (twice, thanks to "Prestige Mode") with no reward in the form of even one stupid achievement? I hope that's not the case... perhaps they can add a little code to detect the button press rate? It could differentiate between a turbo controller and the fastest a person can push a button... or maybe that's wishful thinking. :(

Agreed. It had such a great premise.......and an increible scope of cityscape.....with great looking graphics.

But the gameplay was tediously boring and repetitive.

My complaint isn't so much about having to unlock them all (although I admittedly try to in most games), it is that having online achievements changes the way the game is played online. Instead of people working together towards a common set of goals (most notably winning and having fun), they're trying to get 10 consecutive kills, they steal all the weapons to try and get a set amount of kills in a single round, or they boot you from a game because you're interrupting their "achievement game". I'm not going to say I've never worked with others to set up acquisition of an achievement, but damn, at least have your game be private if you're trying to do that.

I fixed mine, and 4 of my friends that had problems with theres.... took them apart added premiuim heatsink, and swapped the fans with dual 7600 rpm fans... things to remember about the 360 is it has 3 core processors so it needs to be out in the open, not stuffed in an entertainment center or in front of any kind of wall, it needs to be fully open and able to breath bc of the heat it puts out.... also standing it up is the worst thing you can do to a 360 bc the water cooling system inside does not work properly that way, it only works properly when laying flat... the water cooling pipe is like sideways U and the water only lays in the bottom of the tube(flat over the cpu) when it is laying flat, when the system is vertical it sits in the curver of the pipe which does nothing.,... these are just some tips for you to keep your system working... I did these things and told my friends whose systems were always failing and freezing and overheating, and they have never had one problem since.

No, I buy core units and keep my original HD at home. Keeps everything safe and saved that way. Except they're not core units, they're the "Arcade" versions now.
They come with a wireless controller now too.

why? Because he bought the one with the silver tray. Would anyone here be pissed to get a Halo edition instead of their elite or vice versa. I bought a core system because that was all that was around at the time. If I had bought one with a silver tray/ black elite/ halo LE , and it had to be repaired, I'd expect to get the same kind back.

The arcade version is not backwards compatible with original xbox games. Plus I heard the arcade 360's are reburbished systems, but I'm not sure about that.

Can't link it (at work), but check out IGN regarding the free content for R6V2 coming in July. 3 maps- Calypso Casino, and 2 current ones re-lit to night. Plus a slew of fixes, NO MORE CRAZY SPAWNING IN T. HUNTS!

Upgraded and balanced weapons, fixing some voice chat with dead teammates, and adding an extreme type mode where there's no health regeneration, etc.

Good times.


On another note, playing more of Don King's Prizefighter. I'm sorry, it's crap. I tried. People say, "no, it's not that bad, it's a true sim". I can't get past the robotic movement, crappy collision detection, choppy gameplay, and the fact that defense is mapped to the right stick. So counter intuitive. Sure, the career presentation is more sensational the FN, but the core gameplay is busted IMO. Popped in FN04 afterward last night and couldn't believe how much more smooth it is.

If only the 360 had VB on it...

i just popped in gears for the first time in a long while and man oh man did i ever suck... i couldnt remember the controls but I was able to get ina few kills here and there...

Yeah........it's pretty good......I'm not much of an Aerosmith fan, but I've had fun with it. Seems a lot easier than GHIII as well. I've already complete the hard career.....something I've never been able to do on the previous two games. Although that's probably because it's about 10 songs shorter.

i messed that up the first time i tried the mission not sure what i hit but my bike went one way my body flew off the ramp into the river just under the bridge so i got some nice distance

Soul Calibur is up for D/L in arcade this morning. I was really excited, loved this game on Dreamcast. But they took out the mission mode and there's no online. So it's just arcade, team battle and survival.
On the fence now. Tried the demo, looks better, still plays silky smooth.

I love it. We just moved and I was kinda stuck on the worm in the cavern but will probably pop it in tonight and get to kicking some arse on it. I loved the first one as well so I definately love this one.

its pretty much consumed my life the past few weeks. Having gone through it twice (beaten Acolyte and Warrior), I think its better than the original, which is a bold statement....its just so satisfying.

I agree and disagree to an extent. The first one had a longer and steeper learning curve for sure, particularly in terms of gameplay, controls and strategy (NG revolutionized action/adventure games when it first came out). I found the fighting system in the first one to be much smoother and come faster to players, because of its simplicity. The fighting system of the second is much more in depth and requires a few hours of practice - but I find it more challenging and in the end more satisfying. That said, the first required a true mastering of controls to pull off beautiful weapon combos (i.e.: every action done by Ryu was done by the player), while the second relies on a chain combo system (i.e.: the player presses a few buttons and the fighting system has Ryu do some insane weapon combination).

There are way more battles in the second game, involving more and tougher enemies, especially in the later levels - hence why the life replenishment feature was added. I can't imagine even beating the game on Acolyte without the life replenishment system. In the first game, you could go through battles without taking a single knock of energy...in the second game, its not a question of whether you will get hit but a matter of surviving a battle.

I found that with the first Ninja Gaiden the difficulty of battles was consistent throughout the game; battles occuring in the later stages were no different from battles earlier in the game (ex: one of the toughest bosses in the first game was the first boss of the game - Murai). In contrast, I found the second game to go from relatively easy in the first few levels to absurdly difficult in the later stages.

While the human enemies have remained the same, the fiends are significantly tougher in the second game. I will say that the bosses are easier in the second, the exception being Elizabet and the Arch Fiend, but when you're fighting them consecutively, as you do in the later game, it takes a toll. Furthermore, there are more mini-boss encounters in the second than in the first.

In the end it comes down to opinion, but I finished the first game on Master in a few days, and I am currently struggling on Mentor in the second game (which is the 3rd difficulty).

yes and no. Man some of the characters are beastly. Like the were wolfs they can take some punishment and the guys with the cannonball shooters on their arms and a chainsaw for the other arm are wicked. Way more boss battles and great weapons/graphics.

I played Modern Combat for a while. I kind of miss the airplanes (only choppers in this one) and the parachutes. Other than that, I like it more. The classes have more gadgets to play with, and they are all pretty balanced. This game got me off of COD 4 and Halo 3 for some time, but it really needs another game mode.

It is probably one of the best games on Xbox for 2008 so far.
