Huh? I called the the Xbox support number when my 360 had RROD and "Marshall" politely walked through the steps of determining for real if my expensive piece of machinery was in fact totaled.

When he figured out it was (something I already knew), he had me give him the Serial number on the system and some other information. He then gave me a confirmation number and said I would receive in a week or so a box (the coffin) to ship out my 360 to.

Less than a week passed and I got my box complete with instructions and an address sticker. I kept the confirmation number as instructed and jotted down my 360's serial number just so I could know if I got the same system back (which I did).

About 3 weeks passed and just as promised, my 360 came back, good as new and free of charge complete with the also promised free month of Xbox Live (I was offline for two months because I was lazy so I actually still lost a month). The free month of Xbox Live code doesn't even work, the code is fishy or something so I'm going to have to call in.

Hand in hand, it's completely worth it to send in your system to be repaired for free, Billy. I thought I was going to have trouble with the three week wait as well but I survived. It was painful but I survived. Hope this helps man.

That Car, the first of several officially-licensed cars to be included in the pack, the McLaren F1 GTR (for aficionados, that’s the early short-tail version). You’ll be able to read more info on this awesome car here in a new Car Focus article.


McLaren F1 GTR '95

The McLaren F1 was never intended to race. Throughout its gestation, the intention of chief engineer Gordon Murray was to create the ultimate sports car for the road. Racing-derived technology would be used, such as the carbon fibre construction, but it was always intended as a car for the road – with no consideration given to racing it.

However, during the period between the F1 being conceptualised and coming into production the racing landscape changed. Throughout the 1980s, sportscar and endurance racing had been based around the closed prototypes of Group C, (such as the Mazda 787b featured in GRID). In the early 90s, though, Group C effectively collapsed- the usual story of out-of-control budgets and dwindling interest. The cars had become, in the opinion of many, little more than F1 cars with roofs and wheel arches. Many people, fans and manufacturers, had called for endurance racing to return to its road-car roots, and install a GT formula as the premier class, and so, with a gap in the global schedule where Group C once was, the BPR Global GT championship was born.

By this time the F1 road car was in production and it didn’t take race teams very long to realise that a racing version of the F1 would be a very competitive prospect in Global GT Racing.

McLaren agreed, and the F1 GTR was born. Aesthetically, the seemed little changed, apart from the downforce-producing wing at the rear of the car. Internally, the cabin was stripped and a rollcage added, racing brakes were fitted, many cooling ducts were built into the car. One notable feature is that the race car had less overall power than the road versions, due to the restrictor demanded by the regulations. This shortfall was easily offset by the race car’s reduced weight. One final item of note is that the 1995 race cars used the standard road car’s gearbox.

On the track, the F1 GTR was an instant success, winning first time out at Jerez, and took the 1995 BPR championship. Le Mans was the one they were not expected to win- not part of any global championship, it was still home to several purpose-built sports-prototype entries, which dominated the grid after qualifying. After 24 hours of racing, the story was different- McLaren placing 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, the prototypes having fallen by the wayside.

In all, 28 F1 GTRs were built to varying specifications. Some have since been converted to a road-legal state. They are among the most desirable collectors’ cars in the world.



Also, patch is out. Fixed the online a bit, added options for assists off, collisions on, forward only, or off. Fixed drive all cars acheivement, fixed sporadic pausing/freezing.

I have a pair of the X1s and I love them. You really can hear every little nuance in a game. Sometimes it's too loud for my ears though...like big explosions and what not. My wife bought them for me for Xmas for my late night gaming. She tried to find the wireless X3's....but was unable to....and just got me the X1s instead. For $60....they're great.

Printed another one gonna try my luck at the mall tomorrow to see if they have anything worth getting since I gotta go buy me some new summer shoes. I actually didnt find much wrong with the campaign other than the shortness, it was what it was. I dont care for the multiplayer at all. Don't bother.

They don't like it. So they take there little potshots at it. Just like a number of the other games that were widely popular. I like to consider avsfan and pyro as elitist video game snobs. It's not a bad thing really....and I hope it doesn't come across that way. It's just their preference in games. How many times have we read either of them post negatives about a popular game that has incredible graphics that they personally just don't like. And it's always done in that semi-sarcastic....hrmm gameplay>graphics...tone. Yet they rave about a game that involves rolling around in ball...having things "stick" to you. It's almost like they knock a game for having great graphics if they don't like the entire game.

They're like "Video Game Goths" :) They hate the games that everyone else likes...and love the games everyone else hates.

COD4 is widely popular for a good reason....but it's still not popular for everyone.

While Keith comes at the whole situation a little harshly, he is semi-correct that I am a tad "elitist" when it comes to games. I can't speak for Mike, but this is how I feel. I expect more than a 1080p presentation and a 6-hour campaign out of my games. I would think (and obviously, falsely) that most gamers who are 30+, such as myself, would remember a time when games were a challenge, and offered a variety of items, gameplay, and adventure time for the then-$40 we paid. Today, we're asked to pay $60, and the only thing that a developer offers us to give the game longevity is that all-important adversarial online play. Not all of us want to sit online with random people who use racist slurs and exploit cheats to get the full enjoyment out of the game. We should get more than a 6-7 hour campaign that uses the Unreal Engine to "wow" us. This isn't just COD4 we're talking about, either.

I don't really care whether people enjoy a game today or not. If I cared that others claim love for a game, I would've stopped loving the MGS series the moment so many claimed it was the "saviour of the PS3". I still can't wrap my mind around that one, considering I've heard for ages how "MGS is boring" and "Splinter Cell is better", but a game franchise that wasn't looked upon as a PS or PS2 seller suddenly became the game the whole gaming community was going to run out and buy a PS3 for. I suppose I could turn the argument around and call out many on this board for doing the same to Halo 3 (remember the numerous posters who wanted to be sure the board knew they didn't like Halo and thought it was "overrated"?), but I am merely stating my stance on it. I don't expect anyone to suddenly jump to my side of the argument, but I thought I'd answer the question/accusation. :cool:

No prob.

The only thing that might take some getting used to is the Live Chat. I don't know how to explain it...but people sound "different" then when using the regular X-box 360 headset. Another thing is....the LIVE chat is going to come through the same headphones that you're playing the game sound through.....so sometimes you'll have to play with it.....like lowering the game volume...so you can hear the chat....or lowering the chat...so you can hear the game better.

I think that is the underlying problem with the game industry today is that pretty much everything that comes out is so overhyped even before it comes out now that it pretty much sets up everything to be disappointing. Just look at Halo3, COD4, GTA4, Assassins Creed, ect. They are so hyped up that the expectations are set so high that they are just disappointing once you play them since they are suppose to change the molecular structure of the universe.

Also I dont hate a game because of graphics as long as it has good gameplay. Just like Katamari it didnt need good graphics to be fun. When it actually got upgraded to better graphics the game wasnt as good. Look at Assassins Creed, good graphics not so great gameplay made it a rather bland repetitive game.

And I dont hate COD4 because it has good graphics since I personally feel that it didnt have that great of graphics to begin with.

I know your feelings exactly I had to hit 2 different gamestops to finally figure out something I wanted. I enjoyed playing the lego games on my sons wii with him so I figured what the heck. I completely agree with this sentence. But this can be said about any and all multiplayer games. Halo3,COD2-3-4, Gears, etc, etc. Thats why I enjoy playing online with local friends and/or the guys from spawn on my list. Ya, we can be smartasses but it's all in good fun.

1) Halo 3 IS overrated, the whole series is overrated and is no where near the best game series of all time. Halo fanboys are insane.

2) CoD4 is an amazing game, the ending of CoD4 was one of my favorite endings of all time. The campaign is a 10/10 from me.

If I cared that others claim love for a game, I would've stopped loving the MGS series the moment so many claimed it was the "saviour of the PS3". I still can't wrap my mind around that one, considering I've heard for ages how "MGS is boring" and "Splinter Cell is better", but a game franchise that wasn't looked upon as a PS or PS2 seller suddenly became the game the whole gaming community was going to run out and buy a PS3 for. I suppose I could turn the argument around and call out many on this board for doing the same to Halo 3 (remember the numerous posters who wanted to be sure the board knew they didn't like Halo and thought it was "overrated"?), but I am merely stating my stance on it. I don't expect anyone to suddenly jump to my side of the argument, but I thought I'd answer the question/accusation. :cool:

Anybody played Soulcalibur off live? It's awesome. Looks like they made it even better. It looks smoother, feels faster the colors are bright, it's arcade perfect. And for 800 points, it's well worth it. Still can't wait for 4.

I broke down and bought Soul Calibur last night. Loved it back in the day. Wish the mission mode was in, but it's still an incredible fighter.

I still really enjoy COD4, play online quite a bit with some buddies- set up pistol matches, headshots only, then rotate through some of the guns, using only the one that's picked. it's a lot of fun. The only thing that could've made this game so much better would have been co-op. To me, that's key. I'm not too keen on the random people spouting racists stuff either, love playing co-op with people I know.
Still prefer GRAW2 or R6, but COD4 is a great game IMO.

I've been hooked on NBA Street and DiRT online lately. NBA Street is a guilty pleasure of mine, I don't even really like or watch much b-ball, but it's that fun of a game.

I completely agree with this sentence. But this can be said about any and all multiplayer games. Halo3,COD2-3-4, Gears, etc, etc. Thats why I enjoy playing online with local friends and/or the guys from spawn on my list. Ya, we can be smartasses but it's all in good fun.

Co-op is great, I enjoyed playing coop during Halo 3, not so much the game. But playing and chatting during it. And the Gears co-op made the game a lot easier. Well at least for me. And I can not wait for GEARS 2 matches with Spawn board members. :)

I played the game last night and boy... I got my ass handed to me by the wolf boss. Anyone got any tips? I was doing just fine up until that point. I kept trying to use the ultimate attack thing (right trigger) but apparently you can't use it or something. I had a full bar and everything.

Anyway, I loved Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube, so I think I might have to pick up Tales of Vesperia for sure.

Devil May Cry 4 is an easy game to get use to. Just keep playing and you'll get the hand of it by the end. There aren't a lot of special stuff in the game, just Super Nero and Dante. And while that is cool, I was hoping for more. DMC 3 was the king of special bonus stuff.

I wouldn't use that as a basis for getting it, since they're not exactly the same. You can still do a Hell of a lot more in the PC version, especially Civ IV. I'd say take Keith's advice of downloading it---RTS' aren't everyone's bag. I am not even really a fan at all of the RTS genre. I find it tedious and boring, for the most part. I think the megalomaniac in me loves to control society, hence the reason why I love Civilization. :cool:

So i downloaded and tried the demo of Too Human... its ok. Its a pretty good demo... I played it for about 45 mins.

Its a nice rpg type game... the combat system and camera system will take a little getting used to but not sure i'd buy it

The rewind feature can be turned off, you aren't required to use it.

I finally beat all the races in Grid except the last Head to Head with Ravenwest. That race is pure hell. 3 laps on the 60's classic Sarthe in a Koenigsegg on Expert. Make one mistake and you're done. Get a lead and the rubber-banding kicks in.
Sucks.

Now bring on the DLC. Second car revealed, VW Nardo Racing Spec.
Hopefully we'll get a track or two.

I think at times there is too much focus on the "war" aspect in Civ: Revolution as opposed to the PC versions of Civ. I miss the religious aspect of Civ IV already. That's not to say the console version sucks, but I do miss some of Civ IV's improvements.

I really enjoy Forza, but I LOVE racing games with in car views. Turn off all the HUD stuff, race in car view, and it just makes the experience that much more immersive. It's one of the biggest reasons I love Grid and Dirt. And plus in Grid you can race the actual series on the actual tracks with the cars that belong there- LMS series, Touring car series, not just a hodgepodge of cars per class. That's my beef with GT and FM. Great games, but as far as motorsport series races, you have to set up a lot of custom system link matches to try to get all the right cars together for a ALMS or JGTC race. And I'm more of a pro racing kind of guy, sure it's fun to race a street civic or skyline, but give me FIA-GT, LMS, WTCC, 24hr series, etc anyday. Give me some Race cars to drive!

Race Pro is going to be a hardcore sim though, no question about it. Simbin's been doing PC racing games for years. It'll have an arcade type mode, but it's bread and butter will be sim. It'll have weather effects and day to night races as well. I guess GTR, GTR2, and RACE07 on PC make both Gran Turismo and Forza seem very arcade in terms of physics. The original devs of Simbin were pro drivers for years. They know motorsports.

Basically this is the game racing nuts have been waiting for on consoles.

LOL! If I drove in real life like I do in racing games, I'd be dead hundreds of times over. Besides, as an example, I don't need a gun controller for shooters, so a racing wheel wouldn't be a wise purchase for me. I'll probably rent this like I did GT Prologue for PS3. Rent it and be done with it - rather pay $10-15 for a couple of rentals than $60 on something that I'll tire of quickly.

Just wanted to post in here about the Spawn Madden League we are setting up for Madden 2009. Just wanted to point out we have 30 people are selecting to participate....we just need 2 more to have a full league. If you are interested please post in the thread....the two teams still available are CAROLINA PANTHERS and ST LOUIS RAMS. We will be going with standard rosters (with slight changes to accomodate the recent trades that have happened in the NFL). But don't let that disway you. In the new game you can actually trade with other players to make your team better. So if there is a need you see out there you can make them better. C'mon and join. :D

Guys, I just tried to play NCAA 09 and I'm getting one red ring. It's not the 3 red rings of death, but just one. What's the deal? I even tried Halo 3 and it still didn't work? Has my system crapped out on me?

I did once... removed the drive and boot up the system. Shut down, re-attach and boot up again. If that doesn't work you hdd could be going. :(

Not necessarily. Red lights could be something as easy as a wire being unplugged. The feared RROD is marked by 3 red lights.
