Anyone who owns Rock Band......do you have the option to only show certain track parts. For example....if all I want to play is the guitar part....can I make it so that is the only animation on the screen...and not all 4?

You wait all this time for Fable 2, you go to the midnight release and after one quest the system dies. I hope everyone has fun with Gears 2 because I won't. I'm going to be sending my system off to get fixed for the FOURTH time while everyone else has a ball with Fable and Gears.

Bought Dead Space, Saint's Row 2 and Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway with the TRU deal.

Gonna keep Dead Space and Saints Row 2. Since I haven't played the last 2 Brothers in Arms games, I 'll see if I can exchange Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway back at TRU for Far Cry 2.

Hope they do it, especially since BIA:HH is the free game.

Don't see why they wouldn't but every store seems to operate on their own policies. That's why I asked the guy to make Dead Space my free game since I knew I didn't want the other two.

I agree with Windu's advice. I'm still on my launch console but I'm starting to have problems with it. If it goes out, I'm going to get it fixed but I'll buy another system at BB and then just sell the refurb.

Thats the worst part....it was an elite. But since I got it at Walmart the whole replacement thing never really came up in the rush of them selling the elites. It's lasted me a long time but last night I was just PISSED.

I've come up with a solution, with the price drop I'm just going to buy another Xbox360. It's just a pain in the @$$ though because I just bought a 2nd PS3 for a blu-ray player, didn't think I'd need a 2nd 360 too. That way when one of my 360 breaks (and we all know one of them will) I'll have the other one working.

The things we'll do for Fable and Gears of War.

Well I'll send my elite off to get fixed....so it's only a matter of time till I get it back and it gets it's rightful spot in my component stand. So I don't want to do too many drastic things. Honestly I'm going to buy this new 360 and ONLY take the system out. Thats it, just the system. I'm not unwrapping the controller, batteries, cords anything. I'm simply taking out the broken Xbox360 taking off it's HD, unplugging it's wires from the back of the broken system. Then hooking everything up to the hopefully working system.

It will be a simple system transplant. So when I get my elite back I don't have to go unhook crap from the back of the receiver (which is a HUGE pain in the @$$) I can just put it right back where it was.

Got my 360 back today; its the same console I sent in and at least the same chipset (Zephyr). As far as I can tell, they only replaced the dvd drive(I had a hitachi, this one is Benq). The heat is the same, noise is almost the same.
I played a little of gta iv and it didnt RRoD. Let see how long it last...

Fable 2 is amazing. The U.S. IGN rating giving it an 8.8 is rubbish, but honestly, all numerical scoring systems suck. I mean, The scores range from 10 (Eurogamer) to an 8.5. Honestly, if you liked the first, this one improves on it in every way possible. I love my doggie too!

I was gonna get Fallout, but I have just played too many future/apocalypse/Brown games recently.

I have absolutely no complaints so far. This game has sooo much to do that I am already planning my second go at it. I am thinking playing as an evil sorceress, as opposed to my good Skill focused male character. I can see this game keeping me busy way past the release of Gears 2, honestly.

Since I got my Elite at its launch (end of April, 2007), I thankfully have had ZERO issues. I never had problems with my launch console, so I've been lucky. Sorry to hear it when gamers have to send in their consoles. That's a major suck! Hope you get it back before Gears 2!:)

I need advice from the Rock Band / Guitar Hero afficianados.

I currently have Guitar Hero 3......with the wireless Les Paul Guitar for the 360.

Is the Wireless Les Paul from GH 3 compatible with the Rock Band games....or will I need their guitar.

If I need Rock Band's own guitar....do they sell it individually....or only as part of the whole set.

effects switch just changes how the guitar sounds during overdrive and solos so its not necessary. and you import songs by going into rock band one in the music store and exporting the songs from there. its good cause you can delete the songs you dont like from 1 so you dont have to play them in 2.

There is a code, a button sequence on startup, that will unlock all songs in RB. I doubt that they need to be unlocked before importing them to RB2 - I believe it imports all songs on the disc over regardless if you have them unlocked or not, but I can't say for sure either - I already had them all unlocked when I did it.

Nine video games from Electronic Arts Inc., ranging from the extremely popular "Madden 09" football game to the street racing "Burnout: Paradise," feature in-game ads from the Obama campaign. The ads — they appear on billboards and other signage — remind players that early voting has begun and plug a campaign Web site.

The idea of embedding advertising temporarily inside a video game is relatively new, having only begun about 18 months ago, and Obama is the first presidential candidate to buy space, company officials said.

The Democrat's ads are aimed at gamers who like sports, including NASCAR, NBA, NHL and skateboarding, meaning EA Sports' motto, "It's in the game," now applies to presidential politics as well.

EA spokeswoman Holly Rockwood would not say how much the ads cost, but she said they are running on Microsoft's Xbox Live versions of the game through Nov. 3. They began earlier this month.

The timing of the Obama ads within the video game varies from state to state. Players in smaller states may see the Obama ads for the whole month, while users in bigger states may see them for a shorter period.

The idea of embedding advertising temporarily inside a video game is relatively new. Obama's ads appear on billboards and other signage.

"It reaches an audience that is typically hard to reach — young males, roughly 18 to 34," said Rockwood. "That's very appealing to our advertisers."

For those who still associate video games with clunky "Pac Man" or "Space Invaders" consoles, here's how in-game advertising works: The Xbox 360 console connects to the Internet, so it can be updated with new features, including ads. In the case of "Burnout," the game came out in stores in January, but the Obama ads were only inserted this month.

Rockwood declined to say how much revenue the company generates from selling ad space in its games.

"What we're trying to do is offer ads in games where we're simulating a real-world environment, so our racing games, our sports games lend themselves to that," she said.

There is a code, a button sequence on startup, that will unlock all songs in RB. I doubt that they need to be unlocked before importing them to RB2 - I believe it imports all songs on the disc over regardless if you have them unlocked or not, but I can't say for sure either - I already had them all unlocked when I did it.

I was told (and read) that it imports all songs, not just unlocked.

Thanks. :) I guess recovery should be fast enough if the account already existed on the 360 (it was dirt slow transferring to the new 360, but transferring back wasn't so bad). I just find it a bit of a pain that MS just can't have the account sit... just don't allow it to login to Live twice.

Horde mode is where wave after wave of locusts will come at you in increasing number and difficulty. It's a single team mode rather than a versus mode. (at least that's what it appears to be). I don't know if it's 4 or 8 players...

And yes, the kills will count towards Sersiously 2.0

A few notes about Gears 2 and the bonus DLC content

All new copies of Gears 2 will contain a code for the 5 flashback maps (Canals, Gridlock, Mansion, Subway, and Tyro Station).
The gold lancer will be available only with the limited edition copy of Gears 2.
The gold hammerburst will only be available if you attend a midnight event.


The free downloadable content will not be offered as paid DLC. Microsoft and Epic told GamePro that, "There are no plans at this time to make them available as paid downloads through LIVE Marketplace." The "Flashback" Map Pack and gold-plated guns are referred by Epic as "special gifts for our fans".


Translation: You can buy it in X number of months if you really want it.

Seems like a pretty good way to entice fans into buying the game new instead of used (not that most people need a lot of enticing to purchase Gears 2)... of course if you don't give a crap about the online, go ahead and buy used.

yep. posted my story a couple of pages back. complete and udder bullshyt to get it taken care of. I ordered one month for 7.99 and they continued to bill be for the next 3-4 months. I talked to Max and 4 reps, and still didnt get it stopped. Luckily, my card expired back in Sept.

that is not always the case. I got some buddies that beta test games for companies so they play it before it is released. Not to mention that some game store employees have access to it before it is released.

Anyone play fallout 3 I rented it and GH world tour. Fallout starts off slow but is getting a but better. The character movement is jumpy and slow for me though. I was pissed at GH world tour you cant use the GH3 Guitar with it ( unless I am doing something wrong) but all it shows is a line instead of the differnt frets to push.:mad:. Anyone have any input on that?

I think part of it may be that you need the new guitar because of the solo "touch" pad that is on the new guitars, kinda like Rock Band's guitars except instead of traditional buttons it's a flat pad that senses your finger presses....it sounds stupid and works even worse than it sounds.

There are still 400 point games......CrazyMouse, from a couple of weeks ago, was 400 points. Shame it was terrible though. But, yeah......1200 point games are becoming more and more common.

With the purchase of Gears 2 tomorrow night, I can get a free locust headshot figure. The store I'm going to has 48 in total. There are 5 other stores in the city and our pop. is about 1 million.

I'm thinking about an hour early depending on weather (it's been snowy and cold the last 2 days).

If it's something you've both been waiting for, why force yourselves to wait more? Why don't you get it as a gift for YOU and then your son gets the same amount of Christmas presents. Problem solved! :D
