whelp. i caved. picked up our reserve at gamestop today. the boy and I played for a few hours. then i went to the store with the wife for groceries, while he stayed home to score a few more achievements and get further into the campaign.

i told him this was the last video game i get until christmas time. he understood. of course i dont think he heard me since he was just staring at the game cover.

Anyone else think the Gears of War 2 story kinda sucked? Maybe it was me not paying attention but there were 2 major acts in the game that really made no sense and were somewhat pointless.

Also any boardies up for a game of horde tonight? As much as I loved the multiplayer last game I actually kinda dig horde mode more.

4 best parts of storyline:

Doms wife. that was pretty messed up

Cole on the mic, *****ing out the queen

Carmine getting messed up and being the comedic act. Anyone notice in the background of the first Act, he tried to hi-five Dom, and Dom just stared at him and walked off.

The end of Tai. really sad. I thought he was badass.

We should set up a night sometime this week where 5 of us try for 50. I know me and Keith want to do it, that leaves 3 more spots. Hell we couldn't get past wave 10 when we were trying. We were playing on Hardcore though so thats definitely a b****.

As for the whole story thing I don't know overall I just liked the story to #1 more. It was very focused, you always knew exactly what you had to do and there were really only 2 of you there. This game you have Cole (who is awesome) and Baird (who is awful) tagging along with you the whole time. The hardest parts of the game basically hand you 2 CPU kamikazee's to help you out. While the over the top stuff was awesome (Doms wife, Cole Train, Carmine, Tai, Lament, etc) the actual overall story I thought sucked.

Oh and someone give Dom some acting lessons.

Sounds cool. I haven't played that one yet. I played the one on the streets with the big sinkhole in the middle today. I went up high above the arcade and planted a boomshield at the top of the stairs so I only had to deal with the smaller enemies sneaking up on me.

I was out of town Friday night to Sunday afternoon, so I have some campaign catching up to do. I'm only now getting the the part where you kill the brumak coming out of the tunnel. I have tried using the reticule to aim the mortar, but am having limited success. Is there a trick to getting the aim to work better? Also, how many mortars did it take to down the beast, or does it vary? That way I know how many 'misses' I can have before running out of ammo. Thanks!

The great thing about Gears 2 is that everything is interactive through the game. I don't even need to leave the game lobby to see who is on...and what they're playing. Getting people to an online game has never been easier.

Plus, I bought a Nikon D60 D-SLR yesterday, so I will only be getting games if I have store credit or giftcards to places.

my guess is that would depend on the difficulty. but if your going for the achivement you can start on level 20 and still get the achivement

The key is to find an area on the map that you can put your back to and not worry about them spawning behind you...keep everything in front of you. Oh...and a good team helps.

i played horde by myself and made it to level 7 before i got the bum rush from the horde. there is a the room where the nades are and i just kept tagging the doorways at either end to let me know which direction they were coming from and i was snipering out the window. at level 7 they finally got smart enough to come at me from both sides at the same time

A trusted source working as a customer service rep for Microsoft has revealed that there will be some bad drama when the Xbox 360's Fall update hits on November 19th. He says the update could bring the dreaded "three red lights of death" issue roaring back to life.

The rep said that there has always been an influx of calls from owners of bricked Xbox 360s after every major Xbox 360 software update. Most of the complaints come from owners of launch consoles.

Let this be a lesson to save frequently. I just lost 9 hours of progress on my game of Fallout 3. I'm not sure what happened but it was during the water of life quest after clearing out the jefferson, I went back up topside and the screen went blank. Turns out it autosaved at that point and it keeps reloading the blank screen. I lost about 5 sidequests and 3 levels. ARRGH

No my new Xbox360 is working fine but after just being on the phone for almost an hour and a half having to tell those wonderful people at Xbox customer service my serial number about 5 billion times I'm kinda at a point where I want to inflict pain on them as a company and the only way I can do so is by not showing them my money. Which is the exact opposite of what I do right now which is basically buy a new Xbox whenever my old one inevidably dies inches outside of the warranty window.

I'll keep my new Xbox360 but lets be honest, that one will die in about 11 months and 12 days and then what will I do? I'm preparing myself for the inevidable.

With EA owning Bioware now I don't see it being an exclusive anyways. If anything it will be one of those exclusive for x-amount-of-time games.

As for Mass Effect I disagree to an extent. The only way the game got boring was if you tried to squeeze every single ounce of content you could out of the game. Because once you got to a certain extent all of the planets were the same, and all of the "dungeons" you'd go into where generally 1 of 3 different designs. It made landing on most of the planets pretty boring.

With that being said the actual main story to Mass Effect was amazing. The ending and main boss fight were awesome. It was easily my favorite game of 07

I'm kidding. I did like Mass Effect though. I agree that the outlying planets were repetitive and I hated that the bunkers had the same basic layouts, but I really enjoyed the main storyline.

I base it on the game. It just wasn't that good IMO. The combat was terrible...the RPG side was very limited. It was repetitive. It was mundane.

If you would have ignored the sidequests not only would have you have beaten the game but I feel you would have liked it. With Oblivion you were better off not beating that game because the ending was terrible, the side quests of Oblivion were a million times better than the main quest. With Mass Effect it was the exact opposite.

Microsoft is ushering in the New Xbox Experience (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NXE/) with A Kingdom for Keflings, the first Xbox 360 title to feature playable, in-game Avatars -- as GIANTS, no less. While you can carry and assign jobs to Keflings (uh, the game's tiny, humanoid slaves), we have yet to confirm the ability to use Keflings to poke out other Avatars' eyes. Never mind i just read it will prompt you to download it. I musta screwed up something when i signed up.

From my experience, they seem to go down 5-10% every week until the item sells, when they put it on clearance. Of course it also depends on inventory and how quickly they want to sell it.
last i looked they had 5 of them at reg price for quite a while then 125 now 90 and 2 of them are gone. i'm gonna wait but if i miss out i miss out i guess. but 90 is still a good price but left 4 dead is out and i need that game more than a bigger hd but i really want a bigger hd

Let this be a lesson to save frequently. I just lost 9 hours of progress on my game of Fallout 3. I'm not sure what happened but it was during the water of life quest after clearing out the jefferson, I went back up topside and the screen went blank. Turns out it autosaved at that point and it keeps reloading the blank screen. I lost about 5 sidequests and 3 levels. ARRGH

Atleast this time I was saving every 30 seconds (or atleast it seemed like it).

I'm going to go ahead and assume I have a faulty disc - all other games, and facets of fallout work perfectly, something must be loading wrong when I try to complete this quest. Anyone know what the procedure is with something like this? I don't think I have the sales receipt, so do I need to go with the game warranty in the back of the manual?

if you got it at wal-mart or target you should be able to exchange for the same thing most stores have that policy

I missed out on last week's Terminator episode and it wasn't DVR'd due to bad weather / bad satellite signal. :( Tried viewing it online on Fox's site, but my PC is having trouble streaming it.

Yes you have to be a Netflix subscriber. The only things you can watch on your 360 via Netflix are titles that are available to "Watch Instantly". The selection is pretty nice but I don't think you'll find current seasons on there. They have Heroes seasons 1-3 in HD, The Office Seasons 1-3 in HD, 30 Rock Seasons 1 and 2 in HD and a lot of old TV shows.

That was going to be my question since I'm already a subscriber and didn't know if I needed like a supplemental subscription. This is great news since I've been watching 30 Rock S2 on my laptop.

I believe the Kama Sutra is also available as a watch it now title. Now I don't have to squint to watch it! :D
