started in on Prototype tonite, gotta say, it's lame compared to Infamous.

I dunno why. The story on Infamous gripped me more. This one is doing nothing so far. I got a 4 day weekend to play around with it htough so i'm gonna give it more of a shot.

Beat Gears of War 2 a few days ago and Call of Duty 5 before that. CoD got better as it went along and i was really happy with it in the end. Multiplayer has also grown on me. Give it a 9/10. Gears was a big let down. Story was mostly boring, acting was just plain bad, and i just hate the whole empty half a clip to kill one guy type of gameplay. Multiplayer is horrendous and is no fun at all compared to other live games. I would give it a 7/10.

Infamous is great. The story was fun, the art for the cutscenes was great. The badguys were way cooler than some "off hand military group."

I couldn't get into prototype last nite at all, but i'll give it another shot.

New Gears 2 update


Improvements

Title Update 4 makes these new improvements:

• Adds the ability to collect multiplayer experience by playing Horde mode. Players currently gain experience at this rate:

o 50 points per completed Casual wave.
o 75 points per completed Normal wave.
o 100 points per completed Hardcore wave.
o 125 points per completed Insane wave.

• Adds the ability to restart Public Horde from the current failed wave instead of having to start over from wave 1. Title Update 4 also allows the host to kick players from a Public Horde session.
• Increases the frequency of downloadable content (DLC) maps showing up in map voting if all players have shared map packs.
• Adds a message at the end of the match to explain to players that they should wait before quitting so that they avoid an experience penalty for quitting early.
• Adds support for the new campaign chapter, "Road to Ruin."
• Adds 13 new achievements worth 325 points. All of the new achievements require the Dark Corners Map Pack, a set of seven new maps and a deleted campaign chapter to be released July 28. The 13 new achievements are:

o "My Way or the Highway" (25 points): Without being detected, complete the "Road to Ruin" deleted scene after choosing the stealth option.
o "Highway to Hell" (25 points): Complete the "Road to Ruin" deleted scene after choosing the guns-blazing option.
o "Two for the Road" (25 points): Complete the "Road to Ruin" deleted scene in co-op as either Marcus or Dom.
o "Be Careful What You Wish For" (10 points): Reach level 5 in multiplayer and complete waves 1 through 10 on the War Machine map in Horde (any difficulty).
o "Ride It All Night Long" (10 points): Reach level 10 in multiplayer and complete waves 1 through 10 on the Highway map in Horde (any difficulty).

o "Is it Hot or Is That Just You?" (25 points): Kill 25 Bloodmounts with a Scorcher Flamethrower while playing Horde on a Dark Corners Map Pack map (any difficulty).

Exploit Fixes

Title Update 4 fixes these possible exploits, where under certain circumstances:

• A player could copy game progression data from one profile to another.
• A team could use the 50-point revive bonus to artificially increase its score in Horde. Going down but not out (DBNO) in Horde now subtracts 50 points, so there is no advantage to using the revive-bonus technique.
• A player could get 2 points for each kill in Wingman.
• A player could continue to shoot the Flamethrower while performing special movements like evading and mantling.
• A player could cause heavy weapons to spawn continuously while playing Horde.

Title Update 4 also fixes a number of lesser-known exploits.

General Fixes

Title Update 4 fixes these other issues as well:

• An issue that could cause players to lose all achievement progression if they signed in during a loading screen.
• Issues related to the Smoke Grenade causing a player to cringe instead of knocking them down. If hit by a Smoke Grenade with cringing turned on, players will now:

o Drop the Boomshield, even if aiming while carrying it.
o Drop a heavy weapon, even if it is deployed.
o Cringe while roadie running.
o Cringe while in cover.

• An issue that prevented players from shooting around the lower left side of a planted shield.
• An issue that could cause a DBNO player to not appear as DBNO.
• An issue that prevented Gears players from inviting players of other games to join them in progress in a Private match using DLC.
• Issues that caused rich presence information to become inaccurate.
• An issue that caused the overall achievements progress bar to not reflect the latest achievements.
• An assortment of localization bug fixes.
• Additional miscellaneous bug fixes.

Balancing

Title Update 4 makes these balancing changes:

• Adds a 30-second delay in map-based weapon spawning at the beginning of a Wingman match.
• Adds more future server-side balancing options.

We continue to test internally and monitor online gameplay to determine what else may need adjusting.

Gears Multiplayer is horrendous. Horde mode is alright, but they absolutely ruined the gameplay from the first Gears in regular multiplayer. The shotgun is still a broken piece of junk that only works for the host. The smoke grenades are the most broken thing in the history of videogames. I'd rather play COD (3 or 4) because those developers actually know how to deal with lag. Even if they ever fix the gameplay to this broken piece of junk, I still won't be back.

For the record, the first Gears was also broken but it was the best game out at the time so we all dealt with it because of the boardie games.

The BAP just makes it even better.

I finished Prototype last night (the 31 basic missions). It took just over 12 hours and that's with doing maybe 2 events and attacking a half dozen bases. I've still got a lot to do to get my achievements and I'm looking forward to starting a new game with all my powers unlocked.

yeah 07's were bad. but with that said 09 is a big improvement i just wish it would be easier to do a one timer. also if when you don't have the puck he would go after the puck when it's close instead of checking which nets me the interference penelty everytime

I actually had to turn penalties off. It was highly annoying the way the interference calls came up after that update. I am a kind of stand in front of the net and get garbage goals. So I try to go for a rebound but instead end up checking a guy which is instant interference. I was getting 4-5 penalties a game.

never used to have problems like that before firmware updates...I love/hate how consoles are more PC like. Allows constant addition of features and tweaks but also brings all the problems with bugs and games thrown out to the public half done because they know they can patch it later...always hated that about PC Gaming.

a) X-wing or Tie Fighter revamp, put on consoles, updated engine, etc.

b) New Maniac Mansion or Full Throttle

c) A plan to release their old adventure games on XBL and PSN(Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Maniac Mansion, etc.)

take a look at where you have it while you play(i'm sure you already have though), update to an elite, or go PS3 and know you'll have a reliable console on your hands finally. Mine has never crapped out but i originally got it when i bought a friends RROD'd console extremely cheap and just rma'd it. Has worked beautifully for almost 2 years(2 years in sept) now. Have always kept it in an open area(not in a case or shelving unit). Also have had it standing and on it's side so i know it's safe both ways.

Yeah it's definitely fun using all the powers and the story isn't too corny, Cut scenes are done well and graphics are nice. Though there are some major slowdowns when you use certain powers in various areas. Also a lot of cheap deaths if you just go running and gunning from room to room. Achievements are pretty standard and easy to obtain if you like racking those up.

What's the level of security on your router? If it's WPA2, you'll need to crank it back to WPA.

I got it going. Thanks. I had to do some port work. I just picked up Modern Warfare and Im trying to get used to playing a first person shooter. I haven't played one since Nintendo64. I would get dizzy when playing them. Gamertag is Scramblin12 if anybody wants to add me. I have Gears 2 as well.

I'm playing Spiderman: Web of Shadows and I web sling from building to building and kill some pods.

Right after I kill the pods, I see it autosaves.

As soon as it's done autosaving, the screen goes black except for my health bar (and face) in the bottom right and the map in the bottom left.

The sounds are still going, the music still goes except I can't hear anything Spidey does except change suits.

He won't jump, won't web sling, punch, kick .... NOTHING.

It's like I'm somehow trapped in a hole and can't get out.

The worst part is .... the game autosaved and every time I load my game, it puts me in this black hole limbo.

What the hell do I do?

Because if I have to go and play this game over, it's just not happening.

all i can say is get a brand new arcade which i think has the upgraded stuff. i've only been through one (knock on wood) but it didn't RROD'd the disk drive gave out. but don't keep it on top of your TV or in your EC behind the glass keep it in an open space that's what i've always done. or you can get a PS3 I got it going. With the last console microsoft sent me I kicked up such a fuss that I was having to return so many consoles they gave me some freebies, but this time I think I'll do the same but ask for an elite. Am I right in saying that elite have less problems than the premium consoles?
I have a ps3 but mainly use it for films, not really a fan of the ps3 controller, too small and not solid enough

all i can say is get a brand new arcade which i think has the upgraded stuff. i've only been through one (knock on wood) but it didn't RROD'd the disk drive gave out. but don't keep it on top of your TV or in your EC behind the glass keep it in an open space that's what i've always done. or you can get a PS3

Yes, I will have you be Dom because you can get more doing it that way. Since I have insane you should be able to get on insane with me but if not I can go through that game quick on easier levels!

Honestly as much as I loved BF1942, I am not overly excited about it. As a pilot in BF1942, I cant even imagine the horrible controls of using a console controller to fly.

just got Gears of War from Gamefly and then hit up blockbuster for a buy 1 get 1 deal for cheap games. Ended up getting Fracture and Condemned 2 for 360 plus Haze and Narnia Prince Caspian(for the wife) for PS3. Total of $21 for all 4 so i'm pretty happy. I know I'm not getting top quality but if i get some enjoyment i feel it's a worthy investment. I remember snagging Mercenaries 2 for $10 just because it was so cheap at the time but never touched it because i heard a lot of negativity. Recently beat it and loved it, especially in co-op. It's so fun to just go around and blow things up, nothing amazing but it's just plain fun.

I dont get all the hate for the Ghostbusters game on here. I am actually rather enjoying it. Other than the fact that the fighting can be a bit frustrating at time since there is just so much going on all over the place and you cant keep your eye on everything, but that isnt always a bad thing. Although I am starting to get the hang of it a bit more. That fight with those possessor *****es though was crazy. It isnt fair that they possess all of your teammates and then it is pretty much 3 on 1.

I am also waiting to get Madden 09 and Blue Dragon in the mail. I wasnt planning on getting Blue Dragon, but I couldnt pass it up when it was under 7 dollars on Amazon.

mercenaries rules.. ive always been a huge fan. sure, it's got some flaws.. well, alot of flaws but the enjoyment aspect of blowing the **** out of everything is just awesome.

Been playing more of COD4 lately; that level where you flashback with Price and the sniping mission was a BEYATCH. I must've died several times when you're first attacked after the attempted assassination. Finally, I just frantically ran around and found my way into the apartments.

I plan to play more of GB over the weekend; it's just hard cos my apartment is pretty funny and I get a huge glare on the TV. And since most of GB is dark, kinda makes it difficult to play.

I used to rent from gamefly about 3-4 years ago. I live in Texas, and they only had an east and west coast distribution centers. I see now there is one in Texas, but I wonder if it will still take forever to get a game. I think $23 a month for two games at a time is a little steep, but at least they offer one at a time for $16. I think $20 for two and $12 for one is more reasonable, but that's IMAO.

I'm thinking about restarting my membership because where I rent games locally is $7.99 for a week at a time. If I rent two games in a month, that's $16 + tax, but I can only keep 1 week before having late fees. Even if I kept one game for a month, it'd still be $16, instead of $32+.

The achievements seemed pretty plentiful to me...got 245 points and then couldn't take the game anymore. My character's comments were extremely repetitive, to the point I almost played the game on mute. Nice explosions, though.

Yes, when I originally signed up I did two games at a time. When I cut it back to one at a time, sometimes it would be 10 days between games. I think the purposefully dlck people around who do one at a time. There was a time in 2005 when 4 games in a row did not get back to their distribution center. I was pissed, because I figured they thought I was stealing games. Thankfully the ones that were lost were all crappy.

I'm thinking about restarting my membership because where I rent games locally is $7.99 for a week at a time. If I rent two games in a month, that's $16 + tax, but I can only keep 1 week before having late fees. Even if I kept one game for a month, it'd still be $16, instead of $32+.

Hmm, I currently have the 3 games, just upped from 2 games last month, and my turn around time is about 3-4 days for the past 3 months. The post office has started using the tracking on mine so GF sends out my next game atleast 1-2 days before the other one gets returned. Last year though when i had a 2 game plan it would take easily 7 days...I did read about GF have huge problems with USPS about stealing and workers not scanning games so there was no tracking used. Seems to have been fixed, atleast near me in NY,

yea, i got bad company as well, got it for 20.00 w/o manual from ebgames. it's good.. but for some reason i didnt play it all thru yet.. im roughly half way. i was getting annoyed at the AI spotting you no matter where you were ro what you were doing. never did try the multiplayer, but my neighbor plays it ALL The time.. maybe i should check it out.. or maybe ill just play 1943 until Modern Warfare 2 comes out..

i wonder if they plan on doing DLC with 1943? and how indepth.. obviously new maps, but what about new vehicles, classes, game modes, etc.. from the little bit of time i spent with it last night it seemed like it could easily one day become a suitable port from the PC versions of battlefield..

I'm in the same boat as you on Bad Company. I got about 3/4 through the game and it started giving my xbox fits so I haven't played it since. I need to go back and finish it one day.

Multiplayer on Bad Company is where it's at! I'm torn on Modern Warefare 2 vs Bad Company 2. I liked the single player in COD4, but the Multi-player pissed me off. I'll probably wind up with both at some point, but I find I enjoy BF games much more.

ive always been a big fan of COD MP. i think it's gotten progressively better, the experience and levelling was great, but thats the RPG fan in me talking.

I've had zero problems connecting to games now on BF1943... it is fun as hell and i def recommend you all get it.

Ok so I just got done playing the demo to BF43. I dont know it was kind of blah. The planes just absolutely suck to fly. It just seems like a graphically updated watered down version of BF42. Also it helps if you can actually play a game, but that seems to be rare. It took me forever just to get into a match. I might give the demo one more try, but I dont really see myself getting the full game any time soon.

Battlefield 1943. Basically you take the engine from BF: Bad Company and turn the clock back to WWII. Fewer maps, but new maps are almost guaranteed. I'd like to see some unlockable weapons kits, but they're trying to make it even for everyone I think. It's pretty fun, the maps are just about the right size although I'm still trying to find some good vantage points for sniping. They REALLY need to get the servers up to snuff. I am having to join 10-12 times before I can find a slot in a game, and that was at 11:30pm Central. Worth the $15 for sure, just wish I could get into the game a little easier.

first time i played it thru i almost yelled at my tv when it cut away with the russian soldier pounding on price's chest. my girlfriend called me an idiot ;) but what a fantastic game 4 was.. story was very hollywoodized.. but that makes for a great gaming experience. watching the nuclear bomb go off was crazy and the sniping mission ruled. i really cant wait for MW2..

and yea, 1943 is battlefield 1942 one year later ;) it's 15.00 or so on xbox live arcade.. looks AWESOME for a downloaded game. and from what i played seemed liked alot of fun.. rest fo the guys here seem to enjoy it sofar as well..

I only saw Zeros and Sairs at Wake, no bombers. Although there might be some on different maps.

The planes are solo... the jeeps hold 3 people tanks hold 2 and the boats hold a good bit probably 4 or 5.

You cant kill the guy in the Bombing shack (radio tower/air raid station) but you can blowup the planes dropping the bombs. It's easier if you are in planes but the land to air guns work as well.

Just beat Gears of War this morning i have to say it hasn't held up well over the years compared to newer games, especially #2. I had played through most of the game a few years ago but it was on a friends xbox so i didn't have the points and with recently finishing #2 i figured it was a good time to compelte it and get the achievements. Tons of slowdowns and graphical errors, unbalanced fighting, and the voice acting was lacking in some parts(they were more consistent in #2). Overall it was somewhat fun and i didn't really have any problems with Hardcore until the end of act 3 where i died atleast 30 times because those Theron Guards were insanely accurate with their arrows(amazing how they can snipe you with them from over 50 yards away...). It was frustrating towards the 2nd half of the game and the story was kinda weak. Overall i give it a 6/10. Gears 2 was definitely a step up in every department but the series still needs a little bit more to reach games like Bioshock, COD, and Killzone.

Getting Street Fighter 4 from gamefly tomorrow, if anyone has any tips or wanna battle after i play a little.

so i got to play 1943 for a couple hours tonight.. it's good.. lots of potential to be a good arcade series. seems like it'll really benefit in squads as well.. i just wish there was a couple more classes tho.. altho, the three they have are fairly balanced and all pretty fun.

the map pack for cod4 was at least for me kinda ehh. i really liked two of the maps (broadcast and chinatown) chinatown is a redone map from 2 caratan i believe. creek is a sniperfest that i personally have a difficult time spoting ememies. the 4th map is a small map like shipment takes place in a training building. doesn't come up often either. with that said i really wish they would have put out a second map pack



the second map pack for COD WAW is IMO better than the first one the zombie map is awesome way better than the first two.

Looks like EA is getting it together with the BF1943 servers. Got on for a while last night. I'm finally learning the maps and the choke points. Should be ramping up the scores here fairly quickly. Mount Suribachi on Iwo-Jima is a ***** to get a team out of once they're dug in!

Been playing Fracture, and am pleasantly surprised. Graphics are really top notch and the game has run very smoothly with no glitches or bugs. Story is cheesy and enemies are kinda bland, but a nice variety of guns and terrain deformation are fun to play with. Overall for $10 it is one of the best games you can buy in the bang for the buck department. It's just not quite at the level of the top games but it is pretty close and am surprised it got a lot of poor reviews upon release.

I was at Gamestop after work and this one guy i know that works there said that it is rare to see the email coupons. I was shocked because it's an easy way to save nice chunks of money and would have thought a lot of people would take advantage.

ok, so in 1943 is there any way to party up with your friends? me and my buddy tried for almost 2 hours saturday afternoon to get on a server together, we tried every option in the main menu and we had no luck. we got on one server towards the end but ended up on different teams.

it's dumb you cant even start aprivate match with 2 people.. we tried to do a private match and it says you need 16 people to start the game.. w t f?

FINALLY got through "Burn'Em Out" on Vet for COD: WaW a bit ago. Only took me HOURS to get through that last part (i'm sure some of you know what i'm talking about).

I might go back and play COD 4 on vet after this or I might get into Lego Indy or Ghostbusters. We'll see! :)

Dropping bombs isnt an easy thing. I usually played on Coral sea on BF42 so dropping bombs on ships, and non-moving objects like AA guns and Coastal Guns was rather easy, but hitting a moving tank is not an easy thing. You have to time it perfectly for the trajectory of the bomb once it is released and where the tank will be when it hits.

i won't argue that point as battlefield has always been a PC based game.. battlefield 1942 > battlefield 1943 anytime anyday.... however, i think this is a great first step to porting this awesome franchise to the consoles. i have some friends who refuse to try it on xbox because its a computer game.. but whatever floats your boat. not everyone is going to accept it with open arms.

I just dont like them having it. From everything I have heard is that once they have it they dont like to let it go that easily. Once the one they had expired I made sure that I would not put my new one on. To get it off the account you basically have to call them, and even then you are lucky for them to delete it. Too many horror stories for me to trust them.

Ah you can also go into account membership and delete it, I have done that as well!

Like I said they have had 2 different cards of mine since 03 and I have never had a problem

i wont give MS my CC anymore either. here's my story why...

my gold account expires december 27th each year. i went away for xmas a year and a half ago (december 2007) and when i came back around dec 29th or so i had the RROD.. so i call MS up and send it back but it took 6 weeks before i got a replacement. so i got my xbox back roughly mid february.. i go to sign onto live and find out that my account is expired, no big deal, however, my CC had expired earlier in the year and i didnt update it with MS.. again, no big deal as i was without an xbox until mid february so a gold live subscription was not needed.. so i go and plug in my new CC number and check to see my details and find out that my new 12 month account is still set to expire december 27th, 2008. so in other words, my account gets locked out december 27th 2007 cause subscription is up and the auto renewal fails, i renew in february but lose 2 months of my sub because i had it set to auto renew online. i called and complained numerous times to no avail. they said thats the way it is and it's my fault that i wanted it to autorenew. so then i wanted to take my card off my account and they didnt want to.. took me a chat with a supervisor to get it removed after a somewhat tiring argument.

and you can delete a credit card online, as long as you have another one setup.. once you put one in they won't let it go. it's complete BS the way's they try to get you.

letting it expire is not the answer. thats what I thought too. then they "fronted" me three months of xbox live. then blackballed me from live until I paid them for the three months I didnt use.

In August had bought a 1 month LIVE to play madden with a friend. only wanted the month. used a CC to do it. I asked called "Max", to get it taken off. I was tranfered to 4 different people. Im not kidding 4 different people. all said the same thing; "Oh, you got customer service, you need billing. please hold". after about 45 minutes, we pulled into the doctors office where I needed a prescription filled. I gave the phone to my wife, and told here what I wanted them to do. when I got back out to the car, she was pissed, saying that they would not do anything with the account, since she was not the card holder.

So fine, I figure the card expires in sept. that will solve the problem. Come november, I go to log onto my xbox, and it says Ive been banned from LIVE. I call customer service and ask why, and they said they have billed me $7.99 a month for sept, oct, and nov. I told them I had not used it and that I wanted it refunded. they said there were no refunds for LIVE products. I then even tried to meet them half way, and said I would buy a 1yr subscription, and they can deduct 3 months off of it. They said no, I would have to pay the $32 for the months I did play. I asked "why would I spend $32 for three months? when for 18 more bucks I could get 9 months added onto it." they said that without paying the back fees, I would not be allowed on LIVE anymore. I said " not under this screen name anyways" and hung up.

never again, will Microsoft have my CC number.

Still looking to get Streaker, People Person, Team Player, Big Club, Online All the Time for the online achievements.

I'm kinda screwed with the ones that have to do with the EA Sports Hockey League.

I was told it ended last month. :(

Started Street Fighter 4 today and i have to say it is one of the worst fighters i've ever played. Gameplay is completely broken. Plus they forgot to balance the characters and their move sets. I will admit i'm not a "pro" fighter or hardcore player but i can still play every other fighter out there with success and be competitive and this game just has points where it's wortless to play unless you know every little combo and power move. Half the time though the computer runs off the same 2-3 moves over and over which prevent the player from doing anything but try and block..

wow you're the first i've ever heard to not like the controls. They are the reason i actually bought a NHL game for the first time in about 5 years when i got 08 and then 09. Huge difference and the gameplay is easily one of the best ever in sports games history. Now if EA could only do the same with Madden i will be extremely happy with sports games(love MLB The Show also),

The coral sea map is pretty dang fun. All planes its fun and atleast you can practice your flying more.... however i think it would be better if in the very center of the main island there was a turret gun that you could parachute down to

Hit "A" to open your chute. Is there still a "land" component? One of my greatest joys in the game is shooting down planes with the sniper rifle. I just imagine the "WTH!?!?!?" from the pilot and it makes me smile.

Do yous know if they made a patch to suddenly disallow achievement boosting by quitting games?

I was playing NHL with Hursty tonight and we played 6 games, but I quit all 6 and it showed him having a 6 game winning streak.

Now, here's what xboxa.org says:

Go to Xbox Live > Online Game Modes > Online Versus Play.

Select your preferred matchup, set it to RANKED and win 5 in a row. I recommend boosting this with a friend, as it obviously makes it much easier to get it.

NOTE: This achievement can be unlocked by quitting, although you have to wait 5 in-game minutes before quitting the game for it to count as a win.


We actually waited 10 in game minutes on each game and we made sure he was winning when I quit the games.

Still, no achievement for him. We did the same for me last night and I never got it.

That's insane.

Well, I went to an NHL09 board and someone else had the EXACT problem I did.

They went to 6 games in a row, but no achievement.

Just like Mike said, someone said you can quit out the 4 games, but you have to win and complete the 5th game.

So Hursty and I will give that a shot.

Now, do quit games count towards your 30 online games and the "Online all the time" achievement?
