well i don't see a problem with one company making NFL games as long as they are available on all consoles, but if it was limited to one i would have a huge problem.

I have a problem with both. Having only one company make football games have ruined football games. Madden has been crap for years now, because they know that all they have to do is make something slap a madden logo on it and it will sell no matter what. With Hockey EA still has 2K to compete with and it shows. The NHL series wasnt that great a few years ago, but since they have made huge strides each year and completely surpassed 2K and left them in the dust. Although you never know 2K might start getting better while EA gets stale again. Competition is always a good thing.

That said, I think that the next box will probably have a very competitive Digital Distribution service, but will not be Digital Distribution only. (has anyone been reading about retailer backlash against the PSP go?)

I was under the impression that Xbox was not going to create a next-gen system for 6-10 years, but instead incorporate the motion-capture device and other add-on pieces to extend the playability.

One thing i'm expecting an answer to is how will Xbox combat Blu Ray's capacity? Will they succumb to the pressure and just accept the tech or try another form to fight it? Dvds just will not cut it after this gen(kinda are already hurting gaming...)
My guess would be that they do indeed adopt Blu-Ray tech in the next console. But that's not to say I'm getting ahead of myself. Sony could still very well be too reserved to make such a deal.

Either way, if Microsoft does take on Blu-Ray into it's being, they will be giving money to their competitor, but sometimes you have to dance with the devil to stay afloat. The only problem is I bet Sony will be pushing for some kind of compensation. Whether that is paid in royalties for the number of discs used or some type of exclusive first party title being made available to Sony... only time can tell.

When you consider the amount of money MS put into HD DVD, they could use it.

Indeed. Blu-Ray is the way to go. They should definitely look into a working something out with Sony.

I hate digital distribution. There are far too many restrictions applied for it to be considered a "good" thing, in my eyes.

Still, it has it's uses. For example, older hard to find games can easily be made available and extra game content is so much easier to access.

By that time man the PS4 and Wii2 would be well into their first lifecycle, lol. I would say that the 360 might make it till 2013. Any longer than that and the hardware will be "considered" dated. Don't get me wrong, I could play 360 games well into 2015 as long as I didn't have to buy another replacement console, but let's face it... that's just not gonna happen.

Frankly, Microsoft needs to release another system in a couple years. The 360 is flawed beyond all measure. It's not a good, stable product. The games are great, but the peripherals and hardware supplied to us are pure ****. For the love of god, I hope they do intense research and development before they slap the next Xbox console on shelves.

They fought viciously to acquire another company for one sole purpose. To increase their own worth for their shareholders. In the past 5 years their stock has plummeted from a one time high of $68.12 down to the sub $20 range. I can't see their stockholders being comfortable with that.

Every publicly traded company strives for a single bottom line...and that is money. And when someone is willing to offer you more money then what you're actually worth, that's a simple decision for most BoD's.

You're under the assumption all they care about will be the $$$ they get from future game development. You're not considering the millions upon millions those CEOs will receive upon a buyout. Add in the fact that if MS really, really wants the company to begin with...they'll just buy the majority stake of shares. Everyone has a price. And most CEOs rather be on board and receive their share of the buyout pie rather then just end up on the minority share side of things.

how come for one of the games, after I was killed I had to spectate until all the members on my team were killed, but later on I joined a different game and after I was killed a couple of seconds late I was able to join back in. what is the difference between the two? thanks!

it was probably 2 different match types. I've never played 1 online but what i think happens is it randomly chooses a game type when you quick match.

It's the game mode you were playing each one has different rules.

yeah I got the game only a couple of weeks, against the computer I'm still in the prison blocks section and can't seem to get past that so i just like playing online. what is your gamertag and I will look for you!

okay this one has got me stymied so asking this also, I have two online friends now so the three of us want to go play a multiplayer game against other peoples, but we want to be on the same team, but when we start the game one of my friends always gets shifted to the opposing side (like it would be 2 deltas against one locust).

so how can we make it so that all three of us are on the same team from the beginning while we wait for other strangers to join us? I don't want it to be like me and one friend and a stranger (Delta) against my other friend and two other strangers (Locust). thanks!

party up before you start the match it shouldn't be shifting the other person to another team

thanks someguy, yeah we do - I usually host the game and send out individual invites once I see my friends log on.. I'm already in the player selection screen and when the first friend joins he's automatically put into the opposing side (like if I am on Delta he is on Locust), then when my third friend joins he can either choose to be on my side or the other side. we usually start the game and then other unknown players join and just randomly get put on either team.

if you get your party together before you look for a match you should all be in one party you shouldn't be sending out invites while searching for a match or if your already in a match. back out to the first MP menu and get your party together.

also your other player can switch teams before others get in i don't remember the button might be Y

he can say it becuase it's his opinion, but i dont agree with it either. i generally find Sony fans to be the more ignorant and vocal about how wonderful and diverse and pretty and strong their system is and that everyone has to agree and whoever doesnt is an idiot. it all boils down to some sort of inferiority complex. i group them together with mac users. not all of em are bad but they seem to like to jump to attention and preach how great it is every chance they get like it's some sort of religion. thats what really annoys me about PS3's and their owners. i do like some of their games, Metal Gear has always been one of my favorite game franchises for instance and consider buying a PS2 from time to time just for that.. but i'd hardly agree with the statemement that their games are more diverse.. maybe exclusive retail games, but with how good XBLA has become you can find all kinds of games for just about any genre for any type of player.

we all know the 360 has it's faults, but it's still has sold a **** ton more consoles out there then PS3 for a reason. PS3 has beaten 360 in sales like once in monthly sales head to head. argue all you want that the 360 has been out longer, but that stat says it all.

there is a code on the manuals you need and for Rock Band just put the game in and it should be an option at the menu. It's cost points(like $5) but in the end it's worth it if you play alot. I've never done it for World Tour, so i'm not completely sure about that except i know you can only import like 35 songs out of the 80 or so on the disc....

i thought the last.fm was awesome just really disapointed that you couldn't listen to it while playing games.

would be great for a parties. as for zune like i said earlier(ms battle with blu ray) you can now buy HD moives instead of just renting them which would be great but you would still need to delete to make space for more which i wouln't mind but ms has delisted some items before (double dragon, that toyota game) and i don't know if you can get them back if you delete them

No, you get that at the Museum (of History I think). Instead of going into the ghoul's city you go to the left and explore that area. Lincoln's Repeater is up the stairs to the right, you'll know you're in the right spot because there is a Glowing One at the top of the steps (as I recall).

I'm definitely going to need a bigger hard drive so that I can at least rent on zune...pretty cool, but that's a good point about possibly not being able to get back purchased movies after you delete them. Facebook and Twitter both seem more useful on mobile devices and I don't really know why I'd use them on my 360. No, you get that at the Museum (of History I think). Instead of going into the ghoul's city you go to the left and explore that area. Lincoln's Repeater is up the stairs to the right, you'll know you're in the right spot because there is a Glowing One at the top of the steps (as I recall).

in fallout 3 i have a bounty on my head i've killed both groups that came after me but how do i get the bounty off my head?

im fairly certain with a neutral karma you wont get a bounty on your head.. i thought going and wiping out talon company woul dend it but it didnt.. they just keep[ showing up as a random encounter.. useful battles tho, they always seem to have good equipment on par with what you got. id rather fight them than mirelurks all day long.

oh man do i hate mirelurks. although getting to pinkerton wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be but fighting two of the mirelurks at once was a pain in the ass

I liked last.fm most of new stuff, but the fact that it was only available through the dashboard is a real let down. I'm definitely going to need a bigger hard drive so that I can at least rent on zune...pretty cool, but that's a good point about possibly not being able to get back purchased movies after you delete them. Facebook and Twitter both seem more useful on mobile devices and I don't really know why I'd use them on my 360. I certainly don't want my Facebook friends knowing how much time I waste playing video games.
my other issue with digital distribution is once i buy it i can't get anything back for it once i decide i don't want it. also i'm not sure anyone would still pay 1600 points for a HD movie thats older say buying the "hot" movie now is a decent deal for 20 bucks in HD format but say 3 years down the road i don't want to pay 20 for any movie HD or not so

i could always hope that they price cut or have a deal on them but i don't see that happening they still want full price for the map packs for call of duty 2 and want 30 bucks for the game on demand what a joke

Just finished ODST on Legen...wait for it...dary. Very fun game. I have about 8 more audio logs I need to find for that achievement and then I'll mainly focus on the Firefight achievements since I only have 1. I'll dive back into Brutal Legend later today I'm sure.

hate to be the one to tell you this but you need to get the audio logs all at once...unless you played solo...then you can go back solo and finish up...but you cant go between solo and co-op....

So i downloaded the Forza Demo - Friggin sweet as hell. I'm really not into racing games but it was damn cool. I'm seriously thinking about picking it up when I get back from London.

I also got into the new dashboard preview. I like the new Zune video marketplace.... all of the trailers and videos are streaming now which I like.

Facebook app was cool to view pics on a big tv...other than that I'd never use it.

I dont twitter so i didnt check that out.

no it's not different. the menu that your in before you search for the match is the party system that is in the game press LB it brings up people who are on your friends list if they are playing gears they will be highlighted scroll to the name press x it will either ask if you really want to invite them or just outright invite them i'm not sure since i haven't used it in awhile.

While I can't say I particularly disliked it, I never really got into it. I played it for a while and I did dig the sense of panic and of course stomping on body parts with those big ass boots was neat...but it just didn't go "it" for me.

I liked Dead Space.

I honestly didn't think there was anything wrong with that game in the slightest. It had perfect pacing and the environment and atmosphere was just outstanding. The only repetitive factor in Dead Space is the enemies. It seems like you kill the same types all too often.

The levels themselves aren't repetitive though. Sometimes you pass through the same areas, but under different circumstances. It makes the game feel less linear than it actually is, which I like.

I really, really, really hope there's a sequel. EA loves their sequels, so I can only imagine that one is already in the works. Maybe now they, and other publishers, will realize that new IPs are needed in order to further help progress the gaming industry... not just sequels.

Or not and then we can have more Halo 5s and Final Fantasy XIXs.

Bad thing about Fm3's multiplayer- no custom public matches. Matchmaking, can't choose options, can't choose classes under A, can't race tuned cars.

GRID is fun, and certainly cheaper that Forza, but Forza is gonna be the one that everyone is playing for quite a while I suspect. But I liked GRID a lot, it had a really interesting "vibe" to it in the single player game with the different people talking to you throughout the game (the dude in-car, and the chick between races) I found it to be pretty immersive and the AI was smart, but still beatable if you were persistent.

Grid online in public lobbies was horrible IMO. Nothing but a ruthless crash fest. People would turn sideways from the start and total cars/end the races of several people.

Quiggle- Private matches in Grid are just players, you can't stack the room with AI, so if it's just you and two friends, it's just you three alone on the track.

PGR3 and 4 are also fun online.

In the coming Xbox 360 Dashboard update set to hit very soon (currently in preview program), Microsoft is disabling the usability of third party memory units.

According to Major Nelson:
"When Preview Program members start receiving the Xbox 360 system update next week, one of the changes is that unauthorised Memory Units will no longer work with the Xbox 360. If you’ve moved your profile or saved games onto one to “back it up,” you’d better move it back onto an authorised Xbox 360 storage device prior to taking the update. If you continue to use an unauthorised Memory Unit after the update, you will not be able to access your stored profile or saved games."

The memory units in question are the Datel 2gb MAX Memory devices. If you own one of these, make a backup immediately of any saves and/or profiles on the device, and either get ready to toss it out, or keep it in storage incase this decision is reversed.

It's also worth pointing out that this lockout will only affect non microsoft memory units, it will have no detrimental effect to anyone using a non-microsoft hard drive. I state this because some people may have unwittingly purchased a fake hard drive for a much cheaper price either used from ebay, or from certain chinese import sites. Members in the preview program with known fake hard drives confirm they are still usable. For how long this remains to be seen.

A leaked video from France surfaced on the internet this morning showing what appears to be the opening single-player campaign mission for Modern Warfare 2. In it, the players apparently assume the role of a terrorist, and are seen entering an airport through an elevator with the rest of your squad members.

The team enters near the baggage check area where about 20 civilians are standing before being gunned down ruthlessly by your squadmates. The rest of the level takes the team through the airport shooting civilians lying on the ground and running away in fear. The graphic depictions in this sequence are some of the most violent-looking and realistic scenes we've seen in a video game. This could cause controversy from the mainstream media for obvious reasons.

Whats the best strategy for collecting all the audio files? Ive heard collecting 29 at the start of the game and then complete the whole game in order to get the 30th

Find a guide and follow it. You can find all 29 by doing that and only after finding all 29 does it unlock #30, which is in Data Hive. If you go into Data Hive level before having 29, you can't get it. I'm backtracking right now and getting the ones I missed. I have 26 of 30.

Fallout 3 is pretty good for some achievements, I think. This weekend I'm gonna start The Pitt buy Point Lookout, so I'll have all the DLC. Then I'm gonna go through and get all the bobbleheads. That should leave me somewhere around 1300.

While GTA IV was a good game, I thought Rockstar was way too focused on the "realism" factor. They took some of the craziness in San Andreas--Parachuting, planes, jetpacks, owning real property, and tanks--and replaced it with the cell phone. Yay. It was a tight set of gameplay controls in GTA IV, but I missed the wild factor. Thanks to The Ballad of GT, we should get that wildness back we've only seen in Saints Row 1 & 2 this gen.

What does everyone think of Rockstar making Vice City FM exclusive to the disc version of the game? Kind of punishes those of us who don't need to buy both expansions this week. :mad:

frankly i don't care i shut the radio off in the game anyhow yeah it would be nice to hear what was added but i'm not spending an extra 20 to hear it. as for cool stuff coming for those who wait that has really got to stop. people who buy launch day shouldn't be punished for getting in on time the one that still pisses me off the most is the GOTY GOW2 at least make it 60 bucks so i don't feel so cheated

True, but it's definitely a respectable number. I'm only at 19 and change right now. Once I finish off the Fallout 3 achievements I'll be over 20K. I just can't put as much time into gaming as I used to be able to anymore. Plus I just don't get all tight in the shorts over difficulty level achievements, nor do I have Live...so those points are lost to me.

if your mr. fix it type i suggest finding the wire on ebay and fixing it yourself. pretty easy fix IMO. my daughter broke my buddies she spun the cymbal around and pulled the wire right out of the plug in i bought a new wire off ebay for less than 15 bucks and it worked like a charm.

just alot of screws torx if i remember right might be wrong:o but nothing that's going to break easy

yeah i just found out about it yesterday. i was reading a guide to finding all the behemoths and it mentioned the gun so i went looking for it. totally not expecting that. my health was half low and my unarmed was only a 20 so i couldn't even get out of the room. good thing i didn't save.

go to system settings, memory, highlight HDD, hit "Y" , clear cache, shut down console, unplug all cables for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and re-download everything. Then the licenses will be renewed! Unless you have a different console from the one you originally downloaded the stuff on! In that case go here....

The first one was really good. The sequel feels kind of like an expansion, which is technically what it is. There's new modes and weapons, but the story is kinda boring. Also, the setting isn't my cup of tea. I wanted Japan or New York. :p

Ya know, I felt like I was gunning at endless amounts of the same Zombie NPC models (cept for the specials) with no tactic what so ever. The setting would have been cool in NY or maybe somewhere in Europe too. I do like the Guitar as a melée weapon. 'Tis a pile of uber lawls to hear the strings vibrate when you hit a zombie.

i enjoyed the game but it really isn't fun as single player and the vs mode was frustrating with how unbalanced it was. the only special infected that was effective was the hunter. i did enjoy going through the campaign with my friends we had a blast.
