I've been looking for an excuse to get into Gashas. Can you recommend the ones in fighting/dyanmic poses? I don't like the "sexy" ones that are all nekkid and whatnot. The magic ones look cool, especially with translucent magic effects.

The Mai Hime sets usually have a clear effect of some kind, but are expensive.

Ikki Tousen has a set with fighting poses, if you like fighting school girls. Devil May Cry trading figures are in fighting poses, and have articulation. Onimusha set has figting poses.

So I finally was able to order the 6th part of the Range Murata PSE Solid Collection gashapon. I was wondering how anamenation.com was selling these individually, as all the releases I have seen have been blind, and there are blind boxes of these things all over my Waldenbooks and a couple other stores. Well, today I got my answer, and it looks as though Yamato decided to release them a secodn time, this time on a bubble-card. So needless to say, I am happy.

Only thing I've got coming in at the moment is a 6" Ghost in the Shell "Hard Disk" figure:

It's an older Yamato figure that, I think, was just recently re-issued--- same with the Yamato "White Out" version. Comes with a tiny red Fuchikoma figure too. There's also a version out there that transitions from transparent to painted, starting from the legs, that looked cool.

I actually might attempt a head swap and put the newer "Diver Down" or the "Alias" head on the Hard Disk figure--- provided the scale of the figures match up. The newer likenesses are more Shirow-esque.

"Alias" is the white coated one? Blue body suit and yellow boots?

Because if it is, it won't work without alot of mods. Scale is the same, but construction is different.

Hard Drive's head and neck peg to the body, while Alias' neck pegs into the head, and it doesn't seem to be actual articulation. If your not careful, you'll tear Alias' head clean off.

The extra work is no problem. I was actually anticipating having to cut the heads off. But I think I won't do a head swap. Instead, I think I'll just cast a copy of one of the newer heads and maybe add a ball joint while I'm at it.

Really? Hrm... Sounds like I'll have to repaint the face. I'll scan some eyes in from some Shirow artwork and print it on inkjet decal paper and use that instead of painted eyes.

the funniest thing about it is that i didnt even care for the anime or the comic -- they were ok, but i never finished watching either -- but i love the characters and the art -- i have one set of the gashapon (the easier ones to find, obviously) -- i didnt even plan on getting these figures at first - eventually i wanted just the Chii -- i dont even know much about the other character -- but they looked great, they were bigger than i expected, and the price was too good to refuse :D

yeah, the articulation is super wierd -- they put it at the elbows, but almost backwards... so its like elbows bending backwards... i have no idea what purpose it serves... o_O

Sure is. I was a massive fan of Robotech when I was a kid,. Got right back into it with Robotech Battle Cry for (se)X-Box. I nearly cried when I got to that first space battle, it was like being in the show.

I saw her at my comic store yesterday too but I couldnt justify spending the $26 bucks to get her. She looks really nice but I thought her price was just a tad to much. Yamato seems to kinda overprice there stuff when you got stuff like the new Bome Natsume sisters for only $17 dollars a piece. I have successfully held off on the last set and its total awesomeness, but this one is going to be even harder to pass up. The one with Kakashi and the dogs is superb, and the rest seem as if they wont be let downs either.

It's an older Yamato figure that, I think, was just recently re-issued--- same with the Yamato "White Out" version. Comes with a tiny red Fuchikoma figure too. There's also a version out there that transitions from transparent to painted, starting from the legs, that looked cool.

If your wanting to collect the original issued ones, make sure that the Yamato sign isn't on the top left corner. all in all the ghost in the shell figures are sweet, still working to complete my set. I agree about the eyes. And, to me, the style of the figure's head isn't particularly accurate. It has a slightly more "cutesy" look to it. I think the "Diver Down" or "Alias" heads look more accurate. At first I was just going to fix the eyes on the original head, but I think a full head replacement's in order.

Yeah, the quality could've been better. It's marginal at best. I was comparing prices on the web and I'd say they're not worth the price at which they're currently being offered.

But I find that it's one of those figures that could really shine with some relatively easy modifications.

I'm planning on modifying the figure so it's similar to the "Sea of Wires" statue version:

Since my fig was the semi-clear variant, reposing the lower body isn't an option since any modifications to the structure will be blatantly obvious. But the rest shouldn't be difficult to do.
