I can understand if the prices where like that from the begining but they werent. Not to mention other companies like Kaiyodo sell equally detailed items for much less(Bome compared to Yamato's !Story Image EX! line).

Well I'm not talking about this specific item but talking about Yamato's prices in general. Yamato's prices should even be cheaper than Kaiyodo since they have there own US distributer(Yamato toys USA)as opposed to Kaiyodo, which has to go thru a middle man(Diamond Comics Distributers).

It's not the home office in Japan thats telling them to do this but instead it's Yamato USA thats doing it. The reason I know this is figures like the Trigun !SIF! here retail for $13.99 as opposed to the exact same figures(with the exception of the fancy window boxes that the US releases have)sell for half the prices when imported from Japan. Not to mention I remember a member on this board used to work for Yamato USA and said that there general manager had a nasty habit of bumping the price up on there figures periodically.

For the !Story Image EX! figures they use that cheap(really shiny)skin colored plastic for any exposed skin on the figure as opposed to actually painting it. The figures lose a lot of face sculpt detail when they do that.

Honestly, I collect a wide spectrum of import figures. I'd say by now I have a little bit more than 700 gashapons and trading figures and an endless amount of action figures and statues from all the Japanese figure makers. So it doesnt mean because I have all those that I buy everything. Actually I pass up on a lot of things because they just dont appeal to me. And yes, I do like Bome products. ;)

i wish there were more naruto figures - not gashapon, but the 6 inch articulated ones - only 3 is NOT cutting it, for a show with such a large supporting cast

I don't watch anime these days, so figure purchaces are strictly on the figures merits. Naruto looks like it should come on after one piec and ninja turtles on Sat. morning.

yeah, there are a couple of episodes down the line where the art and animation are a lot more crisp - and they mirror the manga better - some parts of the manga have great art and designs - its really the manga that gives me the love i have for the story and chracters

Nah, you're being a little presumptuous. Yes, a lot of us here do buy stuff Diamond brings over, but that doesn't necessarily translate into us being just bandwagon jumpers and slavishly buying everything Diamond brings over.

Everyone has their own priorities when making purchasing decisions. A totally unique collection is a big priority for you. For many others, it's not... Personally speaking, my priority is that I buy what appeals to me, first and foremost. Whether it makes my collection unique or not, is not really all that important and neither whose name is listed on the package as distributor.

Of course, that's nothing to say of other factors like availability, socio-economic factors and so forth. Some of us just don't have the disposable income or have other financial responsibilities (school, family etc) where we simply can't justify the additional costs of importing the items ourselves. If we have to make do with Diamond figures, so be it.

I can totally understand that, but the repeated implication that someone who does buy some Diamond stuff is somehow low brow is just wrong. I know it's being done all in fun, but jab a person long enough with even the smallest needle and it'll eventually draw blood.

Granted, there's probably more chaff than wheat in what Diamond brings over, but considering that we're the foreign market when it comes to anime merchandise, that really shouldn't come as any surprise that Diamond's product ranges will be quite limited.

I know what you mean. Customers at the local store were saying how silly or stupid anime was when they saw me buying anime figures once. It's because of all the utter crap anime titles Western television stations have been throwing up on the tube... When they think of anime, they think of that stuff.

There was a time I thought this kind of widespread exposure would be a good thing. Now I wish anime was the niche genre it used to be when I first got into it. People didn't have to hurdle this stereotype before.

I just put down a tonne of cash on my fall/winter semester, but that ain't it. We had a sudden storm roll through--- and when I say 'sudden', I mean sudden! The wind went from about 15kph to just under Category 1 hurricane velocity in a matter of seconds, then just died down all of a sudden. Our property suffered some significant damage. Any disposable income left over for hobbies just went up in smoke to take care of it... all due to an act of God. :mad: :(

Guess it's God's way of smacking me upside the head and saying, "Grow up, boy! No figures for you!" :D

Actually, that's one good thing about Diamond-imported stuff. Availability is generally better and you don't pay too much for it so you're not too afraid to put some of it under the knife.

They're both already out. I have the full Darkstalkers set. And they apparently only brought 3 of the Namco girls over right now.

Don't know too much about G-Taste but from what I know, spanning 1999-2003, there's been about 7 Japanese volumes with a Vol. 1 & 2 director's cut combined volume. There've been two US released volumes that combine OVA's 1-3 and 4-5.

I think out of all that, I might have seen... two G-Taste videos. And of course there's the manga, calendars, art books...

Selling individual figures and not sets is how he's targetting his customers: those who really only want one or two figures and who don't want to buy blind boxed.

Granted, you do pay more per figure. But you aren't stuck with duplicates, unwanted left over figures that you have to try and unload somehow.

Oh, definitely. When I order from that guy, I tend to buy a selection of different figures to make the whole transaction worth the shipping. It's usually not worth it for just one figure--- well, depends on the figure I guess. :) Some harder to find stuff you just can't pass up.

The old, and most new joes came in 3 parts: Torso, waist, and legs. The legs had a hook that attached to a rubber o-ring at one end and at the other a peg in the center of the torso.

Much more poseable than the twist waist those have.
