Totally agree. In order to get them past Western BS&P, you'd have to emasculate any titles that would've been worth watching. I think anime's best left a niche genre.

My budget allows me to get only one of these Kotobukiya Ninja Gaiden 1/6th scale statues at a time. I won't be holding a job since all my efforts will be fully dedicated to my courses this time around. It may be quite some time before I can purchase a second figure so I need some opinions on which I should pick up first. Both are going for the same price, btw.

At first glance, I was drawn more to Ayane than Ryu, simply by the detail in her costume. She can stand on her own merits as a figure, let alone being a character from a popular game franchise. ...okay, that, and she's cute. :p

However, I'm under the impression that the Ryu Hayabusa statue is getting harder to find. With the upcoming release of Ninja Gaiden Black, I'm wondering if there'll be a surge in popularity for the franchise that may make getting Ryu even more difficult and more expensive to obtain at a later date. Of course, this is only speculation on my part...

here's some anime jibber-jabber...

i'm watching a bunch of new things, here are a couple i needed to vent about:

Shuffle!
A basic harem anime, where a bunch of chicks fawn over one guy. In the world of Shuffle, somewhere between 10 and 20 years ago, a rip appeared in the time space continuum, which opened a gateway between our worlds, and the kingdom of Heaven and Hell. But not the Heaven and Hell we hear about, but rather, two civilized lands, just like ours. Over the years, people from the other kingdoms have integrated into ours, and vice versa.

Main character goes to school one day, and news is that there are two new transfer students. Before they come into the room, in step their fathers to introduce them. God (the god) and the devil (the Devil) introduce their daughters, and then tell our main character that he has been chosen to marry one of them, and upon doing so, will become the new King of whichever kingdom the girl he picks belongs too.

And to make matters 'worse' for the main character, god and the devil decide to move into the houses on either side of the main character. So even at home, he has God next door on one side trying to get him to marry his daughter, and the devil on the other side trying to get him to marry HIS daughter

Typical harem anime stuff. There is of course other girls as well. One a childhood friend, and one a girl who lives with him. Mostly basic stuff all around, but when i watch, i cant help but think about the whole Heaven/Hell God/Devil thing and what silly but great idea it is for a story.


Kamichu!
Our second anime with an exclamation point in the title, Kamichu! is a mellow, kinda slow-moving anime, but very enjoyable. I have seen descriptions compare it to the feeling you get while watching Spirited Away. I would say its quite like Spirited Away, but it is very enjoyable. I like to think of it as Spirited Away meets Bruce Almighty meets 'cute' anime.

Basically, a middle-school girl wakes up one morning with the powers of a God. In a world where this is common, she becomes a pseudo celebrity in town. She can now see, speak to, and interact with other gods in town, as well as give the people of the town advice. Of course, she is still a middle-school student, so she things arent just simple and easy. She has to learn all the god stuff, and at the same time, try to grow up half-way normal.

Not much to say about this one, besides the basics of the story. If that interests any of you, then check it out.


Petopeto-san
This is the most recent one I've discovered, upon which watching the second episode tonight, inspired me to make another one of these posts.

In the world of Petopeto-san, there are 'specified races'. In other words, they are kinda like mutants. Think X-Men, but instead of individuals, there is a race of weather controllers, a race of psychics, a race of shape shifters, etc. But in this world, they don’t act as super heroes, they are just trying to fit in. There is of course racism from some people as well.

Our main character, Petoko, 'sticks' to people and things. If she really likes something, and she touches it, she cant let it go. If she is nervous around someone, and they make skin contact, it will be like they are glued together. And the only way to get un-stuck is a good night of sleep.

A friend Petoko makes is some sort of 'mermaid' type race. She basically swims like a dolphin, whenever she can in her free time.

Another character is made of cement apparently. Looks like a normal girl, but she doesnt talk. Instead, words that she is 'saying' appear on her forehead for a couple seconds, and then disappear, until the next thing she 'says'.

And then there is just strange side characters throughout the classroom. One kid is an old man. Looks, acts, and smells like an old person, but is actually a kid. Then there si the kid with the Mexican wrestling mask. Nothing else special about him really, he just wears a mask.

And the best part about episode 2? Two girls got into an argument, and out of nowhere, this second older looking guy (who i assumed was one of the 'old people' races) steps in, and announces that he will sacrifice his own life in order to stop the arguing. He then pulls out a knife, and (off camera) stabs himself in the stomach. A few kids in the class are shocked, but most arent. One of them announces, "Dont worry, he's a samurai zombie, he does it all the time."
