yes it is mizuho, but I am not good at panting. and it would take years for me to get good enough to be ablet to gett good eough for me to do it to my satfiction.
and besides for $47 befroe shipping and all that, it should already be panted and put together.
the assembley I do not mind but that panting.....that I can not deal with..

I might know a place to get one, Deansta.. It'll be at an Japanese language site though.
If i do, i'll be sure not to tell you.
Welcome to the new guy. Model Kits are always expensive. Made out of expensive materials, limited numbers. Thye look great once their done though (if they are done by a competent modeler.)

Resin Kits.....ummm sence I am not sure what your talking about i will go with no. the most complex modal I have put together is Gundam's level 5 (not countign puzzles)
but grate jsut what I need another expincive hobby...as if my anime and sword collections were not expincive enough. (got 5k in anime, and a couple hundered tied up in like 20 differnt types of swords and wepons)
why is it I always get hooked on the expincive stuff....maybe I should just get on crack, it would be cheeper.

You should know that the Mizuho figure you said you wanted and the majority of the figures sold on on hobbyfan.com are resin kits. They're not your average action figure or mass produced PVC statue.

A resin kit is akin to doing auto body work. It requires filling and sanding and priming.
And lots of cussing.

They are a bit rough. They aren't like a plastic Gundam kit. You usually have to cut mold flash off the parts, and their may be seam lines that need cutting and air holes to fill in. Then when a you put it togetehr you may need to fill in the gaps where the parts meet. It's a lot more work than a standard plastic model kit.
Sometimes a kit that is a bad recast of an original will have such a bad parts fit that it'll need extensive reworking to look good.

ok....so i tsounds like to me that they are cheep pices of crap that some one is jsut tryign to make a buck off of.
so thay make a cheep dezine and sell it at way to high a price to peopel that will do the work that will make it look good.....
I would say that sounds like a magor rip off, even my cheep Gundam modals were made to look good with out having to make the buyer do half the work making the pices even usubal.

Gundam are injection molded plastic. They have minimal preperation required.

well the assembley does not bother me, that would jsut take time and pacents. and when it coem to soemthing like that I can handel it no big deal.
it is the panting that gets me...I can't pant worth crap... so I could put it togethet perfoctiley but that when it comes to the panting I would be stuck. becuse that is not something I am any good at.

So Wicked, what kind of Japanese figures you like, Models and PVCs?
um...I like modals....not sure what PVCs are though.....I am to new to all this stuff
impalerprince
09-12-2005, 06:05 PM
Generally PVC's are plastic versions of models. Prepainted and assembled usually 6" scale or larger. Usually in the 25-50 dollar range, though they get much more expensive.
Gashapon are small figures that come in capsules that you get from a machine, similar to our supermarkets quarter machines . Trading figures come packed in boxes, and are random like trading cards. Shokugan are the same as trading figures, except they come with candy.
Book figures are figures that come with a book (duh) or magazine. They also do alot of event, store and other type exclusives. Recently AFA (a Japanese airline) did a figure set that chronicled the evolution of their flight attendant uniforms, that were initially limited to purchace at Narita Airport. (and others i think.) Though they are available online and a second run is in the works i think.

I see, well I perfure larger modals with good detail in the work.
I am a colloctor, and have a eye for detail I can spot flaws most would not pay any attichion.
but I like my figers to be big (the bigger the better) and to have high quality. but I only collect females, thay are the ony thing that attracts my attion. (I know I am a bit of a pervirt but what can I say)
impalerprince
09-12-2005, 06:12 PM
To be honest i've seen gashapon with better detail work than figures 3 times their size.
I should know, most of my collection is gashapon.
Wicked
09-12-2005, 06:14 PM
that is true, I never sayed bigger means they are better.
I simpley purfure to collect larger ones, but I have no problem with getting smaller ones, provied they got good detail work.
impalerprince
09-12-2005, 06:18 PM
I just don't find the bigger figures to be the same value. I'd rather 5 or 6 nice gashapon to a larger figure.
Besides, more cute girl figures that way. I have 5 Male figures in my anime collection. 'Tis sad.

I think its actually one big set.
Out in December, I am pretty sure they are from Alter, who i think is the same people who put out the recent Fate/Stay set that looks gorgeous. Oh, and the anime/manga these are based on is Tsukuyomi Moon Phase.

not familiar with Tora no Ana... they are doing a Tsukuyomi set? I know of about 3 or 4 different Tsukuyomi sets coming out, and at least most of the shots coming out look pretty good... maybe they get worse in production
The Ichigo set I can only assume will be good, assuming its made by the same people who did the first set. The sculpts looks very similar, so it probably is. The first set blew me away, one of those sets that looked better in person that any advertising shot that hit the net. :D

I got a palm scenery set done by Tora no Ana, and the production was poor. Paint was bad. And the protos were nice. I guess the months of delays didn't help them solve the issues.

Well unless you already have an airbrush, compressor, and etc... I would go with the pre-painted one :) The supplies alone would cost you way more than $150, not to mention the time it would take :) ;)

but in the back of my box that it came in (the one showedin the pic above) it says:
This is a exclusive and very limited-edition redecorated version of the original NAIMI ARMITAGE figure that was released in 2001 in TODD McFarlane's 3D ANIMATION FORM JAPAN Series 2.

Whoa, awesome figures!
From what I've been able to learn, they are 1/8th scale garage kits. There are at least four in this 'IDATENDX' series--- at least four I've been able to find.
Along with the Tubame ("Swallow") and Karasu ("Crow"), there is also the Raityou or "Snow Grouse" and the Super IDATENDX which is more of a mecha in looks and is androgynous in design.
I haven't found out about their origin, who makes them, their availability and pricing though...
Pics to follow...

Anyways. if these are indeed 1/8 garage kits im willing to bet they'll cost a small fortune.

Hmm, those kits must be pretty rare. I have yet to see any on Y!J auctions, and none of the hk recasters have gotten any....they must be really low-run pieces.

I felt the design made it post-worthy.
Now why can't domestic companies design and produce anything like this? Articulated figures of this ilk would certainly kick ***.

Well i try to discourage kit builders from posting and making the rest of us feel bad. :D
To answer your question. I can't really say. The Japanese just seem to be better and more creative.
That and the fact that toys and manga and all that kind of stuff is far more mainstream than it is here.
