Thankfully, her robes weren't cast in one solid piece with a pair of feet stuck to the bottom. Kureha's a completely modeled figure (including sculpted underwear) under her robes, which is good. You get your money's worth then.

She normally sells for $60 around here, before taxes. I don't think I would have paid that much for her but for $20, you can't go wrong.

I dont like it as much as the other (sitting down) one. this facial expression is SO the opposite of Saki and how she would be in that situation. It doesnt really resemble the manga/anime art either, which the last one did a much better job at.

Genshiken is about an anime/video game/manga club and a couple of the characters from what i've gathered cosplay as actual characters from currently running manga.

Nope. She dresses in regular clothing.

The story behind that outfit is that in an episode of Genshiken, Saki accidentally starts a fire and in an attempt to put it out, she grabs a nearby bucket of water and inadvertently drenches Ohno with it. Ohno is the chick with the sword pictured above in Imp's post. Unfortunately, the water turns out to be putrid and makes Ohno ill, so she has to drop out of the cosplay contest she had entered. Saki relunctantly agrees to take Ohno's place in the contest out of guilt, so she dresses up as a character from Kujibiki Unbalance, named Ritsuko Kübel Kettenkrad.

Saki in cosplay is significant because Saki absolutely despises everything otaku. In fact, the fire she started was fueled with manga, figures, posters and other anime goods that were being cleaned out of the club room. She was caught up in her little fantasy about setting it all on fire that she accidentally (subconsciously?) drops her cigarette on the pile. :D She only puts up with all the hardcore anime stuff because her boyfriend is an otaku.

The flash bleeds out any detail work on that one, but it looks nice.

They sure do. Ain't really my stuff... when the first few volumes came out, they were quite expensive here. The price just turned me off and haven't been following this series since.

I'm not a Bome fan. I had the Vol.3, but got rid of it. The movie stuff they do is fine, but the generic stuff is weak design-wise.

Bome has a lot of great stufff, but Kaiyodo isn't making it. Just the other day i saw a Bome maid i'd love to have.

In other news, I'm gonna try and take a loooonnnnnnggggg vacation away from figure collecting. It would seem that I have no control over myself and I'm spending money on this s)hi(t as if it grew on trees. I'm gonna try and go 1 whole month without spending a single penny. You think I can do it Imp?;) Regardless, I only set it at a month because I believe in March that Koyori PVC is coming out and I cant afford to pass that up and before that, around the 20th of February the DC Direct Knightfall figs are coming and I definently am not willing to pass on those.

The Koyori pre-built is nice and I'm seriously thinking of picking it up, but the Cerebus Project kit version costs about the same as the PVC (cheaper at some places), is engineered for clothed/semi-nude display as well, and it's 1/6th scale as opposed to the 1/8th scale of the pre-built version.

The PVC has the benefit of durability and no build/paint time required, but the kit version is larger so you get more bang for the buck. I think the kit would also look nice next to my other 1/6th scale female figures---especially Kureha.

Kit building supplies, tools and experience isn't really an issue sooooo.... I dunno, guys. What do you think? Pre-built or kit version?

HLJ's got it for pre-order for $41 USD. I've seen it floating between $50 and $60 at other places. The kit version also sells within the $50-$60 range.
