their music was all kinda, way too similar, first disc was good, but, just took to long to chase it with anything good.

I remember when I saw Godsmack and Deftones in Washington. I wasn't too impressed with Godsmack, but the whole time, I was like, "I'll stick around until they play that one song of their's that I like."

Of coruse since it sounds so similar I had mistaken 4 other songs for that song.

Godsmack sucks they were at an Ozzfest one year, and if Pantera were not playing after them I would of walked out in disgust. They were playing in Mansfield, MA, and It seemed like after every song they would say "Yeah we started out in Boston!" trying to get the crowd with them. They should of stuck to being an AIC cover band.

It's hard to figure out if they have had two hits, with the songs having the same sound.

Not to rag on them, but "Mama", "Bleeding Me", "Voodoo Too"? Sounds like Metallica's Load/Reload albums (Mama Said, Bleeding Me, Unforgiven 2).

Good call on the similarities though. ;)

wow, good observation....

and could they be any more un-creative with a title? what is it with all these stumbling nu metal bands? Disclaimer II, Chapter V, and now IV?

Yeah, but way back when they were pretty decent. Then they had a soft radio song. Then their next cd was all soft radio songs. Now they only appeal to depressed suburbian high school girls. Sound familiar?

Remember when Soundgarden's "Louder Than Love" came out and every magazine, etc. dubbed them the next Led Zeppelin?

The word "away" is in 8 or 9 songs on their first album (no joke). Then they changed away to awake.

I remember hearing a sound bit of (is it) Sully talking about how they always looking for a new sound and trying to come up with original songs.

If you mean in the titles there is only 1. If you just mean the word "away" is anywhere, in any song, at any point in the lyrics then that's just silly. That's like saying a band has the word "rock" or "metal" or "stay" (etc., etc.) in 8 or 9 of their songs. It's a pretty common word. Besides, it's only 6. ;) :D

Early Soundgarden was ****. The last great album they did though was Badmotorfinger. Supernatural and everything after was lame. What the hell is Kim doing these days? That guy was totally under rated guitarist IMO.

What difference does the name of the band have to do with their not being a success?

There are tons of bands with unusual names that are very successful.

Oh, I got it, because you're a bible thumper.

I dont know if Godsmack would have the Lasting-power that metallica has. Even though i dont own any metallica cds, i still know the majority of their songs, as for Godsmack? i know maybe 1 or 2, and i used to own their cds and saw them live a few Times.

Completely opposite here. Pantera was so awful they were forced to cut their set in half. Godsmack on the other end drove the crowd crazy. In the middle of the rain everyone had dug up patches of grass and were throwing them in the air. You could barely see the sky. The atmosphere was electric. Pantera came out and killed the mood.

Soundgarden was a good band but they were not prolific.
Plus, they didn't put nearly the same mark or influence on rock'n'roll that Zep stamped onto the scene back in their heyday.
