Thor (if i may call you such :D) - my general philosophy is that a card is worth what you can get for it (if your wanting to sell, what would someone pay). then there's how much you value it yourself (what would it take if you weren't wanting to sell, but someone would pay). and of course, what are you willing to pay for it?

beckett is just a reference point. it's also handy for trades. i mostly deal with low end cards so i don't have real issues with $ values. but i know my ovechkin YG isn't worth $200or whatever beckett is saying it is.

No problem 'ShakesO' Yes, I have looked on ebay...they are pretty hard to find...I have found the Nabby and Toskala there as well as a couple of other Flair Showcase ones...can't remember right now...waiting for them to arrive in the mail. I think the whole set of Hot Gloves would be cool to have. My son is beginning to get involved in Hockey. We love the Sharks. :)

Yeah, I saw those at the game on Friday and was like ******* those are the most beautiful jersys i've ever seen!

I found out the story behind them too. If you look there are no manufacturer tags on them by RBK or Nike. The reason is they were made locally by a company who occasionally does these type of jerseys (I think they did the Army style ones also). Nike and HOckey Canada has the rights tot he patch design on the team Canada togs, hence the single-color maple leaf on the sleeves

Definitely not worth it. He didn't play in the game at all, so a practice/bench worn jersey isn't going to be much in the end. He'll definitely get more playtime now with Flaherty out (possibly for the season), so wait. I'm sure the Moose will do at least one more special by the time it's all said and done.

Very nice card! :eek: I would try, and trade it on the board here. Doubt you'd get much more than $10-$15 on ebay for it if you are lucky. :( Jersey cards don't command much on there, which is why I kept all mine.

Do You Guys think there will ever be another 60+ Goal Scorer? I would say Ovechkin has the best chance along with Kovalchuk and Heatley a close second and third. But I must say I don't think there will ever be a season like Selanne's 73 goal rookie season.

This Year there are 6 players on pace for 50+
Ovechkin -28
Selanne -28
St. Louis -28
Heatley -27
Lecavalier -26

05-06 Season gave us 5 50+ Goal Scorers
Cheechoo -56
Jagr -54
Ovechkin -52
Kovalchuk -52
Heatley -50

03-04 was disapointing with no 50 goal scorers.

02-03 had one 50 goal scorer
Hejduk -50

and
01-02 gave us one 50+ goal scorer
Iginla -52



With the new rules of the game opening the ice up and making the play faster, It would lead me to believe that goals will continue to rise. Apparently goals per game are down this year, but we have seen outbursts in goals such as Toronto's 10-goal performance in Boston a week or so ago.

Goals are down though, due to the fact of amazing play by goalies. Last year goalies combined for 116 shutouts. At the halfway point this year goalies have posted shutouts an unprecedented 81 times. Brodeur is just 3 off from Kipprusoff's league-leading 10 shutouts from the previous season.

It's hard for me to believe that many players if any will eclipse the 60+ goal plateau. Young amazing goaltenders such as Lehtonen, Fleury, Huet, Emery, DiPietro, etc. The pipetenders I believe will continue their dominance, and shutouts will remain on the rise.

I hope someone has an amazing season such as Teemu Selanne had his rookie year netting 73 goals, and I hope it's soon. I would love to see a player such as a Saku Koivu, Mats Sundin, or Sergei Fedorov score 60 goals. I don't believe Fedorov could manage that though. Youth will serve us up some amazing highlite reel goals and possibly bring back a league that is the celler-dweller of sports in the United States. I pray for the Ovechkin's, the Crosby's, the Kovalchuk's, the Phaneuf's and the Malkin's of the league. I pray that they develop into the players they can be and the fans of the NHL will have something special and wonderful to watch for the next 20 years.

Hey guys, well I'd thought I'd post to let you know I'm still around ;). Its really terrible that I don't seem to have enough time for cards and everything while school is on. But, I keep close looks at the happening's on this thread. So, there are a few things I'd like to say to some boardmembers:

jdg573- The "Ultimate Debut Patches" set is looking awesome, I'm REALLY impressed.

Tom R from Pittsburgh- Sorry, I do not have any current Staal or other Penguin rookies, or I'd have helped you out again like I did with the Crosby

Finally, I'd like to let you all know that I will be attending my first NHL Game! I got my dad Senators tickets for Christmas, and whatya know he is gracious enough to take me with him :p. So on March 6th, I will be in Ottawa to see the Sens play host to the Penguins (apparantly some guy's named Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Fleury, etc. play on that team ;)). The best part, only 4 rows from the ice! Should be awesome.

I think it was both Nash, and Thornton not signing in a timely fashion. Some Nash stuff has recently hit from that years product, but there are other cards with Thornton still pending, so I guess it was just bad luck both are being difficult with their obligations. When Thornton sends back his stickers, I guess I'll get my card! :rolleyes: I still owe you for the Leaf card, Rocco. I'll find you something soon! ;)
